NEF ANNOUNCES SUMMER’S HOTTEST FIGHT CARD

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Lewiston, Maine (Juillet 16, 2025) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (“NEF”) presents its next event “NEF 63: Cruel Summer," le samedi, Août 9, 2025, at the Lewiston Memorial Armory in Lewiston, Maine. The event will make history as the first ever sanctioned hybrid mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and kickboxing card in Maine. Tickets are on sale now atwww.nefights.com/tickets/.  The event will also stream live atwww.CombatSportsNow.com.

Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, NEF announced the full fight card for the event. A mega-card consisting of two dozen bouts was released featuring a slew of MMA title fights, grudge matches, and kickboxing contests.

“This is old school NEF,” proclaimed NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “This will be reminiscent of the marathon cards we used to host in Lewiston back in the day. Just non-stop action from the time the first fight hits the cage to the last. We really wanted to put something special together for our debut at the Armory and for the debut of regulated kickboxing in Maine. This is a must-see event for combat sports fans!  You WILL get your money’s worth on this night!"

The big story of the evening is the retirement fight of Lewiston/Auburn’s own Jesse “The Viking” Erickson (11-9).  Erickson, one of the promotion’s most popular athletes, competed on the “NEF 1” card in Lewiston back in 2012. He has consistently been a top challenger for NEF’s pro lightweight title over the years representing nearby Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ).  Erickson will step into the NEF cage one final time, facing Massachusetts’ Brian Cosco (2-2) at a catchweight of 165 pounds in a professional MMA bout.

The main event of the night will feature Nick Eldridge (4-0) defending the promotion’s professional MMA bantamweight title against the challenge of top Canadian prospect Olivier Poisson (3-0).  Eldridge won the 135-pound championship at “NEF 62” this past May handing previously undefeated Tim Fargo (3-1) the first loss of his professional career.

Eldridge’s Nostos teammate Nathaniel Grimard (7-5) will face First Class MMA’s Felipe Günter (3-1) in the hotly anticipated co-main event for NEF’s professional MMA featherweight strap. Both competitors have been extremely popular with fans throughout their respective careers. Both held gold with the promotion as amateurs.

Local favorite “Killa” Kam Arnold (6-1) will look to keep his four-fight win streak alive when he meets savvy Pennsylvania veteran Charlie “The Madman” Gathers (9-11) in a catchweight MMA bout.

Also featured on the professional portion of the MMA card: Fred Allen Sfeir (1-0) and Josue Sotero (1-0) will each put their undefeated record on the line in a featherweight contest; Tyler Smythe (5-6) returns to the MMA cage after a recent jaunt in the boxing ring to meet Erick Alvarado (2-2); and Rumford, Maine’s Nate Boucher (0-5) and Florida’s Paul Walters (0-7) both look for the first victory of their respective professional MMA careers in a catchweight bout.

Two title fights will headline the amateur MMA portion of the fight card.

Undefeated Nate “The Mule” White (7-0) will square off with Brandon Oldenburg (2-3) for the vacant amateur MMA heavyweight title. White will compete for the first time in 21 months. Oldenburg is on a two-fight win streak with two first-round knockouts.

Sean Wakefield (7-4) is scheduled to fight Preston LaPointe (4-1) for NEF’s amateur MMA welterweight belt. The pair previously met in Indiana this spring for a regional championship. LaPointe won a very close split decision in that first fight. A highly-competitive rematch is anticipated.

Also featured on the amateur portion of the MMA card will be a bantamweight bout between highly-skilled competitors Julian Connerton (6-3) and Qasim Abdullah (3-1).

Seven amateur kickboxing bouts are scheduled for the “NEF 63” undercard.

As the card order now stands, Ben Perry (0-0) from Nostos and Abdinajib Adan (1-0) of the Choi Institute will have the honor of being the first regulated kickboxing bout in Maine history.

William Lagasse (0-0) will meet Connor Morrill (3-0) in an amateur kickboxing bout. It will be a rematch of their first meeting – an amateur MMA fight won by Lagasse via first-round knockout.

Also on the amateur kickboxing portion of the card, 52-year-old Ice Young (0-0) will make his NEF debut against Daniel Heredia (1-0) dans un concours de poids lourds légers.

La promotion de combat a annoncé un combat pour le titre amateur pour la carte.a goûté la victoire pour la première fois avec un verdict partagé au détriment de (2-0) est prévue pour faire face àNate Dorr (2-0) pour le titre vacant NEF Amateur Bantamweight.

Key Baltazar reste invaincu après ses débuts en amateur en 2022. Son premier combat a eu lieu au « NEF 46 » en février dernier à Portland. Baltazar a soumis Quinn Poirier ce soir-là au deuxième tour. Il reviendrait l'été dernier au "NEF 48" pour affronter Hannon Sanford. Après un dur combat, bataille en trois rounds, Baltazar a remporté la victoire par décision unanime sur les tableaux de bord des juges. Il représente actuellement Nostos MMA basé à Somersworth, New Hampshire.

"J'aime l'énergie que Nate apporte dans la cage,» a noté Baltazar.  "Mais c'est à peu près tout. Je suis ravi de montrer une autre facette de mon style. La ceinture des poids coq rentrera chez moi à Nostos.

Comme Baltazar, Nate Dorr a également fait ses débuts en MMA amateur en 2022 et est actuellement invaincu avec deux victoires. Son premier combat était contre Tyler Parent au printemps dernier au «NEF 47» à Auburn, Maine. Dorr a réussi à remporter une victoire par décision unanime dans ce combat. Il reviendrait à "NEF 48" pour son deuxième combat contre Clifford Redman. Dorr a battu le Redman plus expérimenté par KO technique au premier tour. Il représente Acadia BJJ basé à Ellsworth, Maine.

"La ceinture a toujours été dans mon viseur," dit Dorr. "Je me suis entraîné pour ce titre tout ce temps et je me sens prêt. Je ne m'attendais pas à un coup si tôt, mais j'ai bien l'intention de porter cette ceinture après le combat.

LANGSTON STEPS IN TO REMATCH RICHARD AT NEF 46 CE SAMEDI

Langston stepped in on short notice to replace Richard’s previous opponent Urias Osorio (0-0) who pulled out of the fight earlier in the week. Likewise, Langston was recently left without an opponent on the “NEF 46” card when his originally-scheduled opponent Shaun Ray (2-1) revealed to promoters that he could no longer pass medicals to obtain a fight license.

The bout will now be a rematch of the first meeting between Langston and Richard that took place last November at “NEF45.” That fight, which was Richard’s professional debut, saw Richard defeat Langston by technical knockout in the first round. Langston says the outcome will be different this Saturday.

“When I got asked to take this rematch on short notice it was a no brainer for me,” said Langston.  “Thank you to NEF for the opportunity and Zac’s team. This fight is going to have a very different outcome.”

“I’m very disappointed in the original fight being dropped,” noted Richard. "Cependant, I worked too hard to sit on the sidelines and watch. I’m thankful to still have the opportunity to fight.”

Carl Langston will look for the first win of his professional career – a career stretching back to 2018. Prior to that time, Langston won seven fights as an amateur. He is a lifelong martial artist, having practiced taekwondo since the age of six and medaling in the sport at the Junior Olympic level. Langston is currently competing as an independent fighter.

“This fight is make it or break it for me,», Note Langston.  “I have every tool to best Shaun and any of my last opponents, I just have to show up mentally. I have had some major positive life changes with the start of this New Year with more to come, and I feel that’s going to help play a major role in this fight. I’m ready to bite down on my mouthpiece and get this finish. I don’t feel like Ray is a true 55er—he’s very small for the weight class—so the jump up to 55 to fight him is a testament to my skill set. I’m going to be the breakthrough fighter of 2022.”

Shaun Ray made his NEF debut last summer at “NEF 44” in Milford, New Hampshire in a losing effort to Caleb Hall (4-0).  Ray is a graduate of Easton High School in Easton, Maryland. He is currently a resident of Waterville, Maine. Like Langston, Ray is also an independent fighter.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to test my skill against a very well-seasoned striker,” said Ray.  “I have known Carl and followed his fight career for seven years. I have a lot of respect for him as a fighter. As for myself, I am just doing what I love to do. I feel this is an excellent match up.”

Le combat sera le début professionnel d'Al Kinani qui a terminé sa carrière amateur avec une fiche impressionnante de 9-1. Il quitte la division amateur en tant que poids léger numéro un en Nouvelle-Angleterre et dans le Nord-Est. Six des neuf victoires d'Al Kinani ont été des finitions, dont un KO de 34 secondes lors de son dernier combat amateur l'automne dernier. Nathaniel Grimard made his NEF MMA debut in September 2019 at “NEF 40: School of Hard Knocks.” That night, Grimard submitted Justin Kangas (0-3) via armbar in the first round. During the pandemic lockdown, Grimard competed twice in Florida and improved his record to 3-0. His unbeaten record positioned Grimard to challenge for the then vacant NEF Featherweight Championship. En Août, Grimard stopped Brandon Maillet-Fevens (3-2) in the second round at “NEF 44: Back in Black” to become the 145-pound titleholder. Grimard got right back in the cage at “NEF 45: Uprising” to defend his strap against Billy Wilson (7-1) from the famed Jackson Wink MMA camp in New Mexico. Grimard lost a laborious five-round decision that made Wilson the new champion. Vasta has a 1-1 amateur record and trains at Defensive Edge Martial Arts Academy in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

“Being able to make my professional debut against another rising New England fighter that I respect is exciting,” Vasta stated. “It’s time to take the next step in my career, put my skills to the test, and seize the opportunity. My style is really unorthodox and hard to prepare for. I plan to go out there and put on a dominant performance against another tough prospect of this division.”

Jon Assam will have fought for NEF for four straight years when he steps in the cage on February 12e. The Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) staple most recently made Austin Hamilton (0-3) retire on the stool in between rounds when they faced-off at the Hampshire Dome last August at “NEF 44: Back in Black” in New Hampshire. Assam will be looking to extend his win streak to two when he shares the cage with Kangas in February.

“I’m very excited to be part of another NEF event, always good cards and good fights,” Assam stated. “I don’t like to do much talking outside of the cage, but my opponent can expect the same thing I expect from him—the best version of ourselves—and we’ll see whose best is better.”

Justin Kangas has struggled to find his first win in NEF, having dropped losses to a who’s who of young up and coming talent including Nate “The Mule White (5-0) and former NEF Featherweight Champion Nathaniel Grimard (4-1). Standing 6’3”, the cut to 155-pounds has always been a struggle for the moonlighting mixed martial artist who spends his days working as a school principal. Having finally found the rhythm between his professional life and passion for training, Kangas is confident that the move up in weight class will help him secure that elusive first win in the NEF hexagon.

“I am extremely excited to step back into the NEF cage. It has been far too long. Covid has been rough on us all in a variety of ways, but if there is a silver lining, it’s that it gave me a ton of time to work on my deficits. When I first started fighting for NEF, I was only nine months into my training, and I was a fish out of water on the ground. Each fight gave me a lot to reflect on and gave me a full picture of what needed to change. Covid may have stopped a lot of things in our country, but it didn’t stop me from training and growing as a fighter.

“My weaknesses have become new passions and strengths for me. Losing and identifying faults doesn’t break me down. It excites me. Nothing is more rewarding than improving yourself. Ne doute pas, I have done just that.

“After all the time off, I made the decision to jump up a weight class. I have been working hard to put on weight the right way over the last year and a half and have come leaps and bounds in my confidence and technique on the feet, the cage and the ground. I am a far more well-rounded and skilled fighter. I look forward to showing off that work.

“Jon Assam is a veteran in the NEF cage and he always goes to war. I am excited to share the cage with him and I know the fans won’t be disappointed. I took this fight because I knew it would push me to my limits and that’s how exciting fights are made. I don’t take fights looking for an easy win to pad my record. Former NEF Lightweight Contender« Magic » Mike Murray(3-2) is scheduled to move up in weight to faceLa liste mise à jour et complète des combats se trouve ci-dessous (4-1) for the currently vacant NEF Welterweight Championship at a fight weight of 170 livres. The Championship was recently vacated when former title holder Mike Bezanson (5-0) publicly stated that he will be turning professional in his next bout.

Mike Murray has dazzled fans since he made his NEF debut in June 2019. After rattling off impressive back-to-back first-round rear-naked-choke submission victories in his first two fights, Murray faced off against Zac Richard (1-0) for the then vacant NEF Lightweight Championship. After a lively five-round fight, Murray lost a decision to Richard. Murray rebounded with a win in Florida. Murray recently retired from a successful service career in the US Marine Corps.

“I’m extremely grateful and excited to be back after two years outside of the cage, and to be given the opportunity to fight for the 170-pound title against an absolutely game opponent,” Murray stated. “I personally feel like we are each other’s best match up after seeing his striking and jiu jitsu in his last fight. I’ve been two years out of the cage, but not two years out of the fight. This past summer alone, I went undefeated in Muay Thai, et avait 15 jiu jitsu matches, and placed increasingly higher in each tournament. My prediction for this fight is that it’ll be the most entertaining amateur fight on this card – if not this year. I’ve been putting in the work to be the most lethal version of myself, and I believe this is the best I’ve ever been coming into a fight. There’s no animosity going into this one, this is purely two dogs getting locked in a cage. I’m so thrilled to be a part of this incredibly special 10-year anniversary card. This will for sure be a night to remember.”

Zach Faulkner made his triumphant NEF debut in 2017 at “NEF 30: Rumble in Bangor” and has remained perfect inside the NEF hexagon ever since. He most recently won a unanimous decision victory over Curtis Ouellette (1-3) last August at “NEF 44” in New Hampshire. He trains with Jon Deupree (1-0) at Recon Fitness in Westbrook, Maine.

“I’m super excited to not only have the opportunity to fight for the NEF welterweight title, but also to be able to fight on such a big card against a tough, adversaire de jeu,” Faulkner stated. “Winning would mean a lot to me because it would show that my fight journey is moving in the right direction and show that I’m ready to start to think about moving up to the next level.”

NEF RETOURNE AU MAINE AVEC UNE CARTE DE COMBAT EMPILÉE COMPRENANT QUATRE COMBATS DE TITRE

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Portland, Maine (Octobre 22, 2021) – Quand la cloche sonne à 7 pm EST pour commencer le spectacle vendredi, Novembre 5, ce sera la première fois que la Nouvelle-Angleterre se bat (NEF) a présenté un mélange d'arts martiaux (MMA) événement dans son État d'origine du Maine en 21 mois. Peu de temps après la vénérable promotion de combat tenue «NEF 42» au Merrill Auditorium à Portland en février 8, 2020, la pandémie de Covid-19 s'est emparée de l'État et de la nation. L'arrêt qui en a résulté a forcé le report indéfini de "NEF 43" qui devait avoir lieu à Orono, Maine plus tard ce printemps-là. L'État n'étant pas complètement ouvert aux événements de sports de combat avant le début 2021, NEF a décidé de se tourner vers le New Hampshire voisin pour organiser "NEF 44" l'été dernier. « NEF 45: Soulèvement » en novembre 5 verra la promotion du combat faire son retour tant attendu à l'action dans le Maine, ainsi que de clôturer sa première décennie d'activité. L'événement proviendra d'Aura à Portland.

Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, NEF a annoncé la carte de combat complète pour "NEF 45". Il est prévu de présenter un total de 21 combats avec quatre championnats à décider.

Dans l'événement principal de la soirée, Josh « Décrocher » Harvey(7-1-1) défendra le titre NEF Professional Featherweight contre le défi deAguilando Brandao(9-8).  Harvey détient le championnat depuis février 2019. Brandao est un vétéran coriace avec plus de 15 années d'expérience en cage.

Le co-événement principal verraMark « Poches » Gardner(1-2)prendre en chargeNick Alley (7-4) dans un concours professionnel de poids welters. Les deux concurrents sont des vétérans de la promotion mondiale de la cage de Bellator. Les deux chercheront à rebondir après les pertes de leurs combats précédents respectifs.

Zac « Rocky » Richard (0-0) fera ses débuts professionnels contreCarl Langston(0-5) après une carrière amateur réussie qui a vu Richard remporter le titre NEF des 155 livres. Langston cherche sa première victoire en tant que combattant professionnel.

Dans d'autres combats pro, Matt "Ken Doll" Denning(5-10) rencontre l'ancien champion de lutte de l'Université du sud du MaineJon Deuprée (0-0) dans les débuts professionnels de Deupree, tandis que l'ancien champion professionnel NEF des poids moyensCJ Aiguière(3-3) bataillesShaun Ray (2-1) dans la division poids welter.

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Portland, Maine (Octobre 7, 2021) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) revient avec ses prochains arts martiaux mixtes (MMA) événement, "NEF 45: Uprising," vendredi, Novembre 5, 2021, à Aura à Portland, Maine. Plus tôt aujourd'hui, NEF a annoncé l'ajout d'un combat de poids paille amateur à la carte de combat.BJ Garceau se réuniraHayley Martin à un poids de combat de 115 livres.

Le combat verra Garceau (1-1) retour dans la cage NEF après une absence de trois ans. Elle a fait ses débuts à "NEF 32" en février 2018 avec une victoire par décision partagée sur Sarah Ziehm (1-2).  Garceau a ensuite perdu par KO technique contre Chelsea Tucker (3-3) au troisième tour de leur combat à « NEF 36 » à l'automne de la même année. Elle avait été programmée pour faire son retour à l'action à "NEF 43" en 2020 jusqu'à ce que la pandémie de COVID-19 oblige le report de l'événement. Garceau représente le Young's MMA de Bangor, Maine.

"Je ne peux pas croire que je retourne dans la cage en novembre,» s'exclame Garceau. "Quand nous avons dû arrêter l'entraînement l'année dernière, J'avais l'impression d'avoir perdu ma famille, ma santé, et ça m'a frappé fort mentalement et physiquement. j'étais un gâchis. Alors une fois (Entraîneur-chef du MMA de Young) Chris Young et tant d'autres entraîneurs incroyables d'autres gymnases ont dit " rentrez à la maison " a/k / a " retournez dans le gymnase,’ Je me sentais enfin à nouveau entier une fois que nous étions sur les tapis. je ne pensais pas que cela se reproduirait, mais honnêtement après tout ce qui s'est passé dans le monde et personnellement les 18 derniers mois, Je n'ai jamais voulu me battre aussi mal. Je suis reconnaissant pour l'opportunité et honnêtement, cela aurait pu être n'importe qui se tenant en face de moi à ce stade. Je suis heureux de jeter avec Hayley, et promets que je ne laisserai personne tomber dans cette cage!  je dirais plus, mais je dois aller m'entraîner. Faisons cela!"

Hayley Martin fera ses débuts en cage dans le combat avec Garceau à «NEF 45» – quelques semaines seulement après l'avoir célébrée 50e date d'anniversaire. Martin est un combattant indépendant dont le rêve était de participer activement au MMA.

"Je suis plus que excité d'entrer dans la cage, tester mes compétences et montrer à quoi ressemblent le travail acharné et le dévouement," dit Martin.  "Je suis dans ce voyage parce que je n'ai jamais rien ressenti qui me fasse me sentir plus vivant, fort et confiant. Et quand ce moment arrive le 5 novembre, Je vais tout laisser dans la cage et me battre pour chaque femme qui pense que les rêves ne peuvent pas devenir réalité.
