“Collegiate Fight Night” Dissabte, Novembre. 11 in Winchester, Massachusetts

WINCHESTER, Missa. An entertaining evening of 10 amateur bouts are scheduled as the Cadets of the United States Military Academy at West Point take on a New England all-star caliber team comprised of boxers from the Coast Guard Academy (Nou Londres, Connecticut), Universitat de Massachusetts, Universitat de Connecticut, Trinity College and Harvard University.
“College boxing is not just a sport but also a high-impact leadership development activity,” NCBA president Eric Buller dit. “Come out and support these young men and women who face the highest levels of rigor in the classroom and the boxing gym. They will ultimately be the future leaders of our companies, communities and our nation. Each has worked hard to earn membership in the “Six-Minute Fraternity”.
Two West Points Cadets from Winchester, Luca LoConte Boot i Jack Ward, will headline the event in the homecoming.
Former professional world champions “Irlandès” Micky Ward (Lowell) i Jose Antonio “El Gall” Rivera (Worcester) will be special guests at “Collegiate Fight Night”.

New N. I. Cruiserweight champion Chris Traietti
Iraq War veteran and Quincy’s favorite son, Chris Traietti (24-4, 19 KOs), who is also co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”, pounded Nick Lavin (5-6, 4 KOs) from the opening bell to capture the vacant New England Cruiserweight Championship by way of a decisive eight-round unanimous decision. Traietti teed-off on the over-matched Lavin for most of the fight, but his tough Connecticut opponent lasted to the very end.

U.S. Marine veteran Brandon Montella (8-0, 7 KOs) romàs invicte, registering three knockdowns against his Floridian opponent, pes semipesado “Diners” Mike Sawyer (7-9, 5 KOs), en la segona ronda, as referee Mike Ryan called the fight off right before the bell. O’Han, Jr. decked Amaro twice in the first round via perfectly placed left hooks but Amaro persevered and went the full distance.

Undefeated Irish junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (4-0, 3 KOs), fighting at home in Quincy, methodically broke-down Demetrius Thomas (0-5), dropping him with a right hand in the second round, and floored him with a flurry of punches en route to a third-round stoppage only moments later by referee Ryan.

Two-time Ecuador Olympian Carlos Góngora (9-0, 8 KOs), lluitant des de Brooklyn (Nova York), thoroughly outclassed Texas journeyman Larry “Slow Motion” Herrero (10-34-1, 7 KOs)by way of a fifth-round technical knockout. Gongora, a powerful southpaw promoted by Murphy’s Boxing, started the fight firing crisp combinations to the head and body of Smith, who took a knee for an eight-count in the opening round. The action slowed through the second and third frames, but Gongora picked up the pace in the fourth, as Smith took a knee again and survived another round. The undefeated Ecuadorian middleweight closed the snow in the fifth as referee Steve Clark halted the one-sided bout.

Last September, Lopes lost a 10-round decision to Ewa Piatkowska (9-1) a Polònia; she dropped a 10-round majority decision in Sweden to Mikaela Lauren (22-3) a 2014. En 2013, Lopes lost a 10-round unanimous decision in Rhode Island to Tori Nelson (6-0-3) per a la vacant Associació Internacional de Boxa (IBA) Campionat del món de pes welter.

“It’s tough to fight here (NOSALTRES.) for a world title. You almost always need to travel overseas. We’re limited here because of the required purse (for the defending champion to come to the states) and sanctioning fees for promoters in America. Women’s boxing is more popular in Europe, Mexico and parts of South America. But I have had a very good run and great relationships with New England promoters, who’ve put me on their cards.
“I think women’s boxing maybe, just maybe, will start changing if the trend continues as fighters such as Clarissa Shields i Katie Taylor, women boxers who’ve made names in the Olympics, keep turning pro. Amanda Serrano has gotten some good exposure fighting on television, massa. We’ve had to travel for world title fights but, amb optimisme, things are changing for the better.”

Derek Silveira making up for lost time Headlining “Fight Night at the Bay”

QUINCY, Missa. (Juliol 18, 2017) – Former New England. campió de pes welter Derek Silveira Is trying to make up for lost time, 3 ½ years of ring inactivity from the summer of 2013 until this past April, as he prepares to headline the August 5º “Fight Night at the Bay” targeta, presentat per Granite Chin Promotions, at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Silveira (12-1, 6 KOs), fighting out of Salem (Massachusetts), will face former world title challenger Michael “Cold Blood” Clark (44-16-1, 18 KOs) en l'esdeveniment principal de vuit rondes.
The 31-year-old Silveira fought for a long time with bones spurs in his right elbow. He underwent surgery and later went to training camp in Las Vegas for a fight that, desafortunadament, fell through. It took a terribly frustrating 1 ½ years for his insurance company to finally approve the operation, which was followed, per descomptat, by a lengthy therapy program.
“A long process,” Silveira said. “It was tough watching everybody fight while I was unable. I even had to watch guys fight for the New England title that I never lost in the ring but was unable to keep because I couldn’t fight.”
Silveira was a decorated New England amateur boxer with more than 300 llumins, including six consecutive Central Mass (Lowell) Golden Gloves titles and two New England championships (he lost a decision one year to current world junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade), as well as multiple Rocky Marciano Tournament gold medals to go along with those he won at the Silver Mittens and Junior Olympics.
Ara 31 and having fought the past 20 any, Silveira is hungry to prove himself on a grander scale, començament Agost. 5 with Clark. “He will be a good test for me for a comparison to where I was in the past,” Silveira commented about his veteran opponent. “Clark is a veteran who fights on his toes. “Estic emocionat de veure florir la carrera de boxa d'Irvin,” va remarcar el promotor José Rivera. “Té totes les eines per convertir-se en campió del món. “Aquesta és una gran oportunitat per a mi,” González va dir. “Tinc la sort de lluitar a Worcester pel meu primer títol. No és un gran títol, però és com fer petits passos cap a un títol mundial. Des que vaig començar a boxejar als Boys & Girls club, Sempre he volgut ser com en José, tres vegades campió del món. Ara, és el meu torn, i torno a lluitar a la meva ciutat.”
González té un registre professional perfecte: sis drets, sis victòries per nocaut. No obstant això, només ha lluitat un gran total de vuit rondes, i juny 10º està en un partit programat a vuit jornades. Al jove ben parlat no li preocupa el pas a les rondes i l'oposició.
“M'han preguntat sobre això molts mitjans, entrenadors i altres lluitadors,” Va explicar. “Sempre m'he entrenat com si fos per a una lluita pel títol mundial, 12 rondes, així que no em preocupa entrar en aigües profundes. Estic en una forma magnífica, tres setmanes abans de la baralla, i fins i tot en els aficionats sempre m'he anat fent més fort a mesura que avançava la lluita. González va aprendre molt quan va ser un company d'esparg Guillermo Rigondeaux a Florida que havia de ser un camp d'entrenament de sis setmanes que va acabar després de tres setmanes a causa de Rigondeaux’ la lluita es cancel·la.
“Vaig aprendre molt sobre els diferents mètodes d'entrenament que faig servir ara,” Irvin va continuar. “Les seves tècniques són fenomenals. Vaig estar al voltant d'un campió del món, dos vegades medallista d'or olímpic i vaig veure la seva ètica de treball. Després de tot el que ha aconseguit, encara té una gran ètica de treball, i vaig aprendre d'ell que un lluitador necessita seguir treballant com ho fa fins que tot s'acabi. No tot és qüestió de diners, és divertir-se cada dia, fent el que ens agrada.”
