“El futur de Nova Anglaterra 3” Resultats de Worcester, Massachusetts
WORCESTER, Missa. (Juny 11, 2017) – La boxa va tornar a DCU Arena (Sala d'exposicions) per primera vegada a 11 any i l'estrella emergent més nova de Worcester, Irvin González, va entretenir la gent de la ciutat natal, capturant la vacant Federació Universal de Boxa (UBF) Campionat de pes ploma, ahir a la nit al “El futur de Nova Anglaterra 3” esdeveniment principal.
“El futur de Nova Anglaterra 3” va ser presentat per Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), que és propietat i gestionat per tres vegades jubilats, de dues divisions campió del món José Antonio Rivera i el seu fill, Anthone (A. J.) Rivera. RPE tornarà al Centre DCU l'octubre 28º per a la seva última entrega de “Futur de Nova Anglaterra” sèrie a 2017.
A l'atracció co-protagonitzada, popular pes pesat de la ciutat de Nova York Sonia “L'Erudit” Lamonakis, per Grècia i Turners Falls, Massachusetts, enfrontat Laura “Senyora Ram” Ramsey en una batalla femenina d'antigues campions del món pel títol vacant del món UBF,
El jove González, de 21 anys (7-0, 6 KOs) estava lluitant en el seu primer combat programat de vuit rondes, contra Raul López (10-32-1, 5 KOs), de Bronx (Nova York). Els dos combatents van sortir ràpidament en un tiroteig, tots dos llançant cuir des de tots els angles, tot i que cap dels dos es va fer mal a la primera ronda. El ritme va augmentar encara més a la segona, ja que ambdós lluitadors van aconseguir tirs sòlids.
Lluitant a la tercera ronda per primera vegada en la seva jove carrera professional, González va augmentar la calor, arrancant una combinació eficaç al cap i al cos de López, que va respondre colpejant a Gonzalez a les cordes.
González va deixar caure López al començament del quart amb un fort dret a la barbeta, seguit d'una baralla cinquena ronda, i l'acció es va alentir lleugerament a la sisena. González, que va prendre el control a les dues darreres rondes, va anar la distància per primera vegada, prenent una reñida decisió unànime de vuit rondes (79-73 X 2, 76-75).
“Sens dubte va ser el més dur contra el qual he lluitat,” va dir González després de la baralla. “Encara he de treballar coses al gimnàs. No vaig anar al cos com ho vaig fer en les meves últimes baralles. Aquesta nit he estat buscant caps. El paio era dur, L'he hagut de treure a la caixa. Em vaig fer mal a la mà esquerra al final de les rondes posteriors i em vaig quedar zurt.
“Definitivament vaig aprendre molt. El meu condicionament estava allà i vaig fer vuit rondes fortes. Em sento bé, Podria fer vuit rondes més. Lluitar a casa va ser bo, Tinc una gran base de fans aquí. Espero tornar aquí a l'octubre 28º.”
Lamonakis (10-2-3, 1 KO), un antic campió del món IBO, i el passat campió mundial de GBU Ramsey (108-1, 5 KOs) va anar de peu a peu des de la campana d'obertura per 10 competitiu, rondes sense parar, acabant amb un empat a 10 rondes per tres jutges’ puntuacions de 95-95.
Worcester invicte pes pesat Bryan Daniels (5-0, 3 KOs) descarregat en un sobre-emparejat Cristòfor “L'arquebisbe” Boykins (1-9), deixant caure el floridan tres vegades a la segona volta fins a l'àrbitre Leo Gerstel afortunadament va cancel·lar la lluita al final del segon.
L'antic núm. 1 boxejador amateur dels EUA Bobby Harris III, fill de múltiples campions nacionals amateurs i pes pesat professional retirat, Bobby Harris, va fer el seu esperat debut professional. Lluitant fora de Worcester, Harris va superar les primeres tàctiques del pes semipesat brasiler Rodrigo Almeida, de Woburn, Massachusetts, per guanyar una ronda de quatre “deixar fora” decisió.
En una represa d'una baralla l'abril passat, Antonio Chaves Fernandez (8-32-4, 2 KOs), de Brockton (Massachusetts), va derrotar el pes welter de Worcester Andy González (6-2, 5 KOs), mitjançant una decisió per majoria de sis voltes, per igualar la seva rivalitat 1-1.
Southbridge, MA Welterweight Wilfredo “el Sucaro” pagà (2-0) i el seu Llorenç, MA oponent, Anthony Everett (1-6), va fer una actuació entretinguda quan Pagan va guanyar una decisió per majoria de quatre rondes, tot i que va ser engalanat a la ronda final.
Lawrence, MA Welterweight Adrià Sosa (3-0, 3 KOs) només va necessitar 41 segons per aturar la ciutat de Nova York Zach Johnson (0-2). Sosa va deixar caure Johnson a la primera 10 segons i de nou moments després, després del qual l'àrbitre Gerstel va aturar l'acció.

WORCESTER, Missa. (Juny 1, 2017) – Pes pesat popular Sonia “L'Erudit” Lamonakis adquireix Laura “Senyora Ram” Ramsey pel vacant Federació Universal Boxing (UBF) Títol mundial, en dissabte nit, Juny 10, en el vuit assalts “El futur de Nova Anglaterra 3” co-funció al DCU Center (Sala d'exposicions) a Worcester, Massachusetts.
“El futur de Nova Anglaterra 3” és presentat per Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), que és propietat i gestionat per tres vegades jubilats, dues divisions campió del món José Antonio Rivera i el seu fill, Anthone (A. J.) Rivera.
Perspectiva invicte Irvin González (6-0, 6 KOs), 21, titulars a casa en el seu primer combat programat de vuit rondes, versus Raul López (10-2-1, 5 KOs), de Bronx (Nova York), per al campionat vacant de pes súper ploma UBF All-American.
“Estic emocionat de poder tenir el nostre primer partit de boxa pel campionat del món al nostre 'New England's 3’ esdeveniment de boxa,” va comentar el promotor José Rivera. “És especial perquè és una lluita pel títol mundial de pes pesat femení amb veteranes com Sonya i Laura, que també tenen algunes hostilitats entre ells. Tots dos s'han guanyat aquesta oportunitat de lluitar pel Campionat Mundial de Pes Pesat Femení de la UBF. Espero focs artificials i sé que els aficionats tindran una delícia.”
La boxa professional torna al DCU Center per primera vegada a 11 any, quan el promotor José Antonio Rivera va derrotar Alejandro Garcia, per decisió unànime de 12 rondes, Per a l’Associació Mundial de Boxa (AMB) Títol mundial de pes superwelter.
Nascut a Grècia, Lamonakis (10-2-2, 1 KO), que va créixer a Turners Falls (Massachusetts), és professor a la ciutat de Nova York. És llicenciada a Springfield College i té dos màsters. “Estic honrat de lluitar a la primera lluita pel títol mundial a Worcester des de Jose Rivera,” va dir Lamonakis. “Sóc de Massachusetts i vaig lluitar dues vegades al Mechanics Hall (a Worcester, inclòs el seu debut professional a 2010). Vaig sentir que Jose estava promocionant espectacles a Worcester, així que vaig trucar per dir-li que m'agradaria lluitar per un títol mundial en una de les seves cartes. Crec que em va veure lluitar abans i ràpidament va acceptar.

No sé si és perquè vaig néixer a Grècia i la boxa em porta a la sang, però m'encanta aquest esport i això és el que em fa seguir endavant. Suposo que vaig néixer per lluitar. M'agrada pujar al ring. He obtingut molt de la boxa i ara estic donant als aficionats de la ciutat de Nova York com a president d'una organització juvenil.”
Lamonakis; és una antiga campiona mundial de pes pesat de l'Organització Internacional de Boxa i l'estat de Nova York. El seu oponent, Ramsey (10-7, KOs), com a desafiant al títol mundial en dues ocasions, espera que la tercera vegada sigui l'encant per a ella. Tenen història junts i aquesta lluita gairebé va passar fa uns anys.
“Vaig colpejar la seva filla (Alysia Williams-Stevenson) en la meva segona lluita professional,” va explicar Lamonakis. “Va dir que em veu i ara, set anys després, estem lluitant. Ella és una mica més gran que jo i necessitava més baralles abans de lluitar amb ella. Se suposa que havíem de lluitar fa uns anys a Aruba, però un huracà va cancel·lar l'espectacle.”

El jove González, de 21 anys (6-0, 6 KOs) adquireix Raul López (10-2-1, 5 KOs), de Bronx (Nova York), en un esdeveniment principal de vuit rondes per a la vacant Federació Universal de Boxa (UBF) Campionat tot americà de pes súper ploma.
La boxa professional torna al DCU Center per primera vegada a 11 any, irònicament, quan el promotor José Antonio Rivera va derrotar Alejandro Garcia, per decisió unànime de 12 rondes, Per a l’Associació Mundial de Boxa (AMB) Títol mundial de pes superwelter.
“Estic emocionat de veure florir la carrera de boxa d'Irvin,” va remarcar el promotor José Rivera. “Té totes les eines per convertir-se en campió del món. Lluitar pel campionat de la UBF serà el primer de molts i m'alegro que puguem donar-li aquesta oportunitat. Veig coses grans per a Irvin i espero que els fans surtin Dissabte nit, Juny 10º, per donar suport a ell i als altres boxejadors locals.”.
“Aquesta és una gran oportunitat per a mi,” González va dir. “Tinc la sort de lluitar a Worcester pel meu primer títol. No és un gran títol, però és com fer petits passos cap a un títol mundial. Des que vaig començar a boxejar als Boys & Girls club, Sempre he volgut ser com en José, tres vegades campió del món. Ara, és el meu torn, i torno a lluitar a la meva ciutat.”
González té un registre professional perfecte: sis drets, sis victòries per nocaut. No obstant això, només ha lluitat un gran total de vuit rondes, i juny 10º està en un partit programat a vuit jornades. Al jove ben parlat no li preocupa el pas a les rondes i l'oposició.
“M'han preguntat sobre això molts mitjans, entrenadors i altres lluitadors,” Va explicar. “Sempre m'he entrenat com si fos per a una lluita pel títol mundial, 12 rondes, així que no em preocupa entrar en aigües profundes. Estic en una forma magnífica, tres setmanes abans de la baralla, i fins i tot en els aficionats sempre m'he anat fent més fort a mesura que avançava la lluita. En sparring, Em faig més fort, així que anar vuit no és un problema per a mi.
“Realment no sé gaire del meu oponent. Va guanyar alguns títols nacionals però no ha lluitat massa sovint. Veurem què porta al ring i després ajustaré. Sé que sóc més alt.”
González va aprendre molt quan va ser un company d'esparg Guillermo Rigondeaux a Florida que havia de ser un camp d'entrenament de sis setmanes que va acabar després de tres setmanes a causa de Rigondeaux’ la lluita es cancel·la.
“Vaig aprendre molt sobre els diferents mètodes d'entrenament que faig servir ara,” Irvin va continuar. “Les seves tècniques són fenomenals. Vaig estar al voltant d'un campió del món, dos vegades medallista d'or olímpic i vaig veure la seva ètica de treball. Després de tot el que ha aconseguit, encara té una gran ètica de treball, i vaig aprendre d'ell que un lluitador necessita seguir treballant com ho fa fins que tot s'acabi. No tot és qüestió de diners, és divertir-se cada dia, fent el que ens agrada.”

Arguably the top New England prospect, the 21-year-old Gonzalez (6-0, 6 KOs) is continuing Worcester’s rich boxing tradition, which dates back nearly a century. La 2015 N. I. Campió dels Guants d'Or, Gonzalez has knocked out all six of his pro opponents, four in the opening round, the other two in the second. Gonzalez will fight Raul López (10-2-1, 5 KOs), de Bronx (Nova York), in an eight-round match for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) East Regional super featherweight championship.
Former International Boxing Organization (IBO heavyweight world champion, Sonia “L'Erudit” Lamonakis (10-2-2, 1 KO), will face TBA in the eight-round co-feature for the vacant UBF World heavyweight title. Lamonakis is a New York City teacher who lived in Turners Falls (Massachusetts) and graduated from Springfield (Massachusetts) College. She is a native of Greece and a four-time New York Golden Gloves champion.
“I am excited that we will be having our ‘New England’s Future 3’ boxing event at the DCU Center,” promoter Jose Antonio Rivera said. “The last time there was boxing at the DCU was when I fought for and won the WBA Junior Middleweight world title. It was an electric night with the fight televised live on Showtime. I am hoping we can bring the same kind of excitement with our action- packed lineup of young and hungry up-and-coming boxers.
“We have two UBF title fights on the line with Sonya Lamonakis fighting for the female UBF Heavyweight World Title and Worcester’s own Irving Gonzalez, in only his seventh pro fight, fighting for the UBF 126-pound division East Regional championship. Remillard (23-1, 13 KOs), fighting out of Manchester, Connecticut, hasn’t boxed for the six years, due to him serving a five-year prison sentence. If their tense, near volatile stare-down at a recent press conference is a true indication, Remillard vs. Mauras is not going the distance, to put things mildly.

He won’t make excuses; però, he never should have taken the fight with Garcia, facing the impending court case that sent him to prison and working with a new head trainer he’d only met two weeks prior to the fight.
“I’m confident I can get back to where I was in about a year,” the 30-year-old Remillard said. “A dream come true would be a rematch with Garcia, at any weight, but I have to earn that shot. Everybody wants a rematch with the guy who gave you the first loss. It seldom happens but, sinó, in time I believe there will be other big fights out there for me.
“I’m fighting an opponent who fought by buddy, Chip Perez, tres vegades (0-2-1), so I’m familiar with his style. He doesn’t back down. I don’t expect him to back down against me…until he feels my power. I’m going to take out those five years that I was away on him. I’ve been through so much the last six year but I’m most comfortable in the gym. The past is past and this is my last run. Paul and I have a lot of unfinished business to take care of.”
Seventeen years ago, Chicon first met Remillard at the Manchester PAL gym, but he made the 13-year-old aspiring boxer earn his opportunity to be trained. Paul made Matt clean the bathrooms, take care of spit buckets, etc. before he started training him.
“When he returned to the gym a few months back, I saw that his work ethic hadn’t faded,” Cichon commented. “I don’t believe he’s really that far away from where he was six years ago. He was idle five years but his first day back he sparred 12 rondes. He stayed in good physical shape and is hungrier than ever. He thinks he has something to prove after his last fight, but he really doesn’t have anything to prove to me or anybody else. He is fighting a tough kid but Matt’s going to be victorious. I think in four or five more fights he’ll be back where he was in boxing.”

There are a lot of great fighters on our April 1st card with top prospects, former Golden Gloves champs, top fighters like Matt Remillard and future world champions. All of these guys took the opponents they were offered, no cherry-picking, and that shows what kind of fighters they really are. Tenim 13 fights and don’t blink during any one of them.”
Bryan Daniels: “I’m a student of Worcester boxing and Jose Rivera was the most established fighter. He came from nothing to become world champion. Never in a million years did I think I’d be fighting on his card. Estic humiliat. I was hoping to get an opponent with experience to bring the best out of me. This will be my first time fighting in Worcester to showcase my skills. I’m originally from Illinois but Worcester has a lot to offer, including Rivera Promotions Entertaining giving us a platform.”

WORCESTER, Missa. That takes a lot of sacrifice and courage to put your body through that rugged training. I wish him the best and I am glad I can provide him with the opportunity to be able to say goodbye to boxing on his own terms.”
Shearns made his amateur debut at the age of 29, 10 anys més tard he made his professional debut. “I grew up watching boxing with my father (Joan), who boxed in the Navy, and my grandfather (Joan),” Shearns explained. “My grandfather was a club fighter, de forma, boxing was in my blood. I only had four amateur fights and one day I met “Fitzy,” who is now one of my closest friends. (Sean Fitzgerald, one of Worcester’s all-time best boxers, who is Shearns’ head trainer.) I told him I wanted one pro fight and asked him to train me.”

Sometimes I wake up asking myself, ‘What am I doing?’ And ‘Fitzy’ is working me so hard for this fight – I don’t know if it’s my age or what – but I’ve hated every minute of it. I lost my father in March. He was always in my corner and this fight I’ll have RIP on my trunks in his honor.”
Últimament, Shearns’ typical day has been, bé, in a word, unordinary, per dir el menys. He reports to work at 5 a.m., exercises and runs on the treadmill for an hour in a small gym at work, catches up with “Fitzy” at Anytime Fitness to hit the heavy and speed bags, and after work “Fitzy” trains Shearns at Camp Get Right.
