(Oktober 19, 2017, 2017) – His induction into the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame (CBHOF) på lørdag natt, Oktober 28, as part of the six-member Class of 2017, will cap the boxing career of retiring judge Clark Sammartino ved 13TH årlig CBHOF Gala Induksjon Middag i Uncas Ballroom på Mohegan Sun.
The other new CBHOF inductees are pioneer boxer “Professor” Charles Hadley, ringlege Dr. Tony Alessi, dommer / dommer Dick Flaherty, boksing forfatter Dan Parker og bokser / boksebidragsyter Hugh Devlin, Sr.
A graduate of Brown University, the now 80-year-old Sammartino has enjoyed two other careers as an oral surgeon and investment advisor at Blue Fin in Providence, in addition to his role as an international boxing judge since 1985.
“I first got into boxing because Joey Angelo married my cousin,” Sammartino explained. “He fought back in the early forties. Joey fought Willie Pep twice and Sandy Saddler. That’s what got me started. We used to have the great Mandag Night Fights at Rhode Island Auditorium and I remember watching Rocky Marciano fight “Tiger” Ted Lowry there.”
Because he was a successful oral surgeon, Clark could take long weekends to judge fights all over the world. His first and most memorable world title fight was Vinny Paz-Greg Haughn I. Through his long career, Sammartino judged more than 400 pro kamper, Inkludert 50 major world title fights.
The list of boxers whose fights Sammartino judged reads like a Who’s Who of Boxing during the past 32 år: Mike Tyson, Oscar de la Hoya, Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez, Johnny Tapia, Naseem Hamed, Chris Eubank, Marco Antonio Barrera, Mark Johnson, Wayne McCullough, Wladimir Klitschko, Gennady Golovkin, Anthony Joshua, Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins, Juan Manuel Lopez, Nonito Donaire, Acelino Freitas, Ivan Calderon, Felix Trinidad, Tommy Morrison Og mange flere.
Sammartino, who proudly says he never missed a day of work in 40 år, has decided to retire, although he’ll remain a boxing fans for the rest of his life. “I started slowing down at my age, doing local shows and maybe three or four world title fights a year, mostly WBO and IBF,” Sammartino remarked. “I had a tough bout with pneumonia the past 5-6 months and that made working difficult.”
His CBHOF induction is a fitting ending and tremendous tribute to Sammartino and his career in boxing. “I’m humbled to be inducted into the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame,” han sa. “This is a great way to end my career.”

Today at the Luis Munoz Marin Airport in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Puerto Rican world title contender, Thomas Dulorme ( 22-1, 14 KOs ) alongside with his team, are heading to Arlington, Texas for the biggest fight of Dulorme’s career schedule for this Lørdag, April 18 against Terence Crawford ( 25-0, 17 KOs ) of Nebraska, for the vacant WBO World super lightweight title.
The fight will air live on HBO as part of its series ‘HBO Boxing After Dark’, which starts from 9:45 pm (EST) ved College Park Center, located in University of Texas at Arlington.
“I’m just two pounds over the weight limit. It is a matter of reaching Texas and continue the work plan for the fight,” said Thomas Dulorme who continued, “I will not let my people of Puerto Rico and the Latinos down”.
“This fight is dedicated to all the Latinos and Caribbean people that day after day, and night after night, work very hard in the United States, especially those who work hard in the state of Texas,”, Dulorme concluded.

PUERTO RICO (April 8, 2015) – Gary Shaw Productions toppen kandidat, Puerto Rican sensationThomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KO s), is just 9 pounds over the weight limit of 140 lbs. for his Lørdag, 18 april showdown mot “2014 Fighter of the Year” and former lightweight world champion, Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs).

Felix Pagan Pintor lagt til Team Dulorme

Den legendariske trener, Felix Pagan Pintor, har blitt bekreftet til å delta i gruppe elite puertoricanske trenere som kommer til å støtte Thomas Dulorme ( 22-1, 14 KO s ) i hans hjørne. På Lørdag, 18 april, Dulorme vil stå overfor den største utfordringen av sin unge karriere som han står overfor “2014 Boxer av året” og lett verdensmester Terence Crawford ( 25-0,17 KO s ) i en VM-kamp planlagt for 12 runder for ledige WBO Verden Junior weltervekt tittelen. Kampen vil bli avholdt på College Park Center ligger på universitetsområdet til University of Texas, Arlington. The Fight vil bli sendt direkte på 'HBO Boxing After Dark', begynner på 9:45 pm. OG/PT.
“I en avsidesliggende del av fjellene i den østlige regionen av øya Puerto Rico, en gruppe elite erfarne trenere jobber hardt med Dulorme i forberedelsene til kampen. En av disse trenere er Felix Pagan Pintor, som har et vell av erfaring, etter å ha vært i hjørnet av mange av de største puertorrican jagerfly. Hans tilstedeværelse i hjørnet vil være en betydelig faktor i kampen. Vi har en gruppe av trenere som har en flott kombinasjon av erfaring og ungdom. Snart vil vi avsløre navnene på de andre medlemmene av Team Dulorme som gjør for en godt avrundet team.” sa Dulorme rådgiver, Richy Miranda.

 

Felix Pagan Pintor har over 40 år med boksing erfaring. I 1977 han hadde sin pro-debut som en fighter, mens på samme tid å være en trener. Han har jobbet over 60 VM bouts med legendariske krigere som Wilfredo Gomez, Hector 'Macho’ Camacho, Ivan Calderon, Paul Williams, Carlos Santos, bl.a..

Fighter fakta:
Crawford ble anerkjent som "2014 Boxer av året ', en pris som gis av den Boksing Writers Association of America ( BWAA ) for hans bemerket seirer over Ricky Burns, fra hvem han tok WBO verden tittel. Han succesfully forsvarte sin tittel ved to anledninger mot Yuriorkis Gamboa og Ray Beltrán.

På den annen side Dulorme er frisk av en seier mot verdens kandidat Hank Lundy og før det, Dulorme endte Karim Mayfield er ubeseiret rekord i en kamp som han vant med enstemmig avgjørelse.

Dulorme er for tiden rangert #2 av World Boxing Association ( WBA ), #3 av World Boxing Council (WBC ) og International Boxing Federation ( IBF ), mens #5 av World Boxing Organization ( WBO )
