NOVA YORK (Maig 3, 2019) –Middleweight contender Chris Pearson scored a major victory over previously undefeated Olympic Bronze Medal winner Yamaguchi Falcao in a 10-round bout at The Joint at The Hard Rock in Las Vegas.


The win netted Pearson the WBO Latino Middleweight title.


Pearson boxed very well as he befuddled Falcao, and consistently beat the former amateur star to the punch throughout the contest.


Pearson, who already held a win over Falcao in the World Series of Boxing, repeated the verdict of 2011 by using good head-speed that saw the judges scorecards read 97-93 i 96-94 dues vegades.


The win will gain Pearson a high-ranking in the WBO, and improves the Trotwood, Ohio native’s record to 17-2.


This was the 3rd consecutive win for Pearson, who is managed by Split-T Management.


“My plan was to be patient and control the pace. I was able to capitalize on him being a bit slower then me,” va dir Pearson. “This win gets me back to where I need to be.”


“I’m blessed with this victory,” continued Pearson. “Nobody knows the trials I’ve gone through. If I can be someone that inspires, then I’ll be happy. I’m going to rest for a couple days and then get right back to the gym.”



The fight was the main event of a Golden Boy Promotions card on Golden Boy Fight Night on Facebook watch.

TEMECULA, Califòrnia. (Febrer. 24, 2017) – Justin “L'escollit” DeLoach scored a shocking upset over Chris “Jove Rei” Pearson in a second-round knockout victory el divendres en l'esdeveniment principal de ShoBox: La Nova Generació on SHOWTIME in front of a sellout crowd from Pechanga Resort & Casino en Temecula.

“I’m not surprised that it happened so quickly,” DeLoach said. “We had a strategy and we stuck to it. Hard work pays off and that was proof. I didn’t think I was an underdog, but I understand the whole thing of psychological warfare. I always go into the ring like I am on top no matter what.”
The southpaw Pearson, who was appearing on ShoBox for third time, never got going and landed just one body punch in the short fight connecting on just nine percent of his total punches (quatre de 43) comparat amb 32 percent for DeLoach (29 de 92).

“I felt lackluster,” Pearson said. “He came out and he was explosive, he was busy. He didn’t do anything I didn’t expect. Things happened the way they did, and you gotta take the good with the bad. He hit me in the eye which got me a bit disoriented. He fought like I thought he would, he did what he had to do. His performance didn’t surprise me.”
DeLoach was clearly overcome with emotion as he reflected on his huge victory. “Em sento molt bé,” DeLoach said. “I am emotional right now. I come from a small city and my mom is here and she’s in tears. Seeing my mom and my family here, I am just proud.”
In the co-main event of the evening, undefeated up-and-coming prospect Saül “Neno” Rodríguez (21-0-1, 15 KOs) of nearby Riverside won a split decision treating the hometown fans to a close outcome against a tough and game Oscar “La Màquina” Bé Fet (22-7, 10 KOs) en una batalla de pes lleuger de 10 assalts.

A straight right hand by Bravo dropped the 23-year-old Rodriguez for the first time in his career with 1:50 left in the fifth round giving Bravo a huge 10-8 ronda. In the sixth round Bravo, 29, was again impressive and was able to effectively get inside against Rodriguez and land several powerful combinations.

Graves never made it out for the seventh round as he and his corner threw in the towel in between rounds. The referee, Ray Corona, signaled the end of the fight.
“As soon as I got in the ring, I knew it was game over for him,” va dir Tabiti. “Figuring out his game plan was easy money. The only thing I feel I could have done better was get him out of the fight quicker. He was talking a lot before the fight, but I didn’t let that get in my head I just came out and did what I was supposed to do.

En lluitar contra Justin DeLoach...

"Ja he tingut l'esquena contra la paret abans. Sé com se sent. Faig el millor possible quan tinc l'esquena contra la paret. Sé que és un lluitador amb talent i que té poder a les dues mans, però també sé que es veu tremolat quan es trenca. És un noi atlètic, és ràpid i es mou bé, però sóc el lluitador més hàbil.

 

"DeLoach comet molts errors al ring. Vaig a aprofitar-ho. No ha estat mai contra un noi com jo. No passarà per mi. Simplement sóc el millor lluitador aquí.

"Vaig lluitar per guanyar pes per a la meva lluita contra Walker. Vaig haver de perdre 20 lliura a 10 dia. Vaig esperar fins a l'últim moment per fer pes i vaig pagar el preu. Jo no tenia cames. El tenia en la posició que el volia, però no tenia energia per tancar el tracte. No vaig poder lliurar. Vaig perdre aquella lluita a l'escala. Vaig aprendre la meva lliçó. No tornarà a passar".

En demà l'enfrontament de la nit...

"No crec que sigui un partit de boxa durant molt de temps. Una vegada que un de nosaltres es senti còmode amb la gamma i cregui que tenim l'avantatge, començarem a obrir-nos més. Si surt una mica més calent, Crec que les meves habilitats marcaran el ritme i faran ajustos a mesura que avancem. La boxa és la ciència dolça, però no és la ciència de coets. Entres allà i trobes l'avantatge. Tu fas el que has de fer, ajustar-se i obtenir la victòria".

En treballar amb el seu nou entrenador, Lucius Robinson...

"Vaig tenir algunes diferències amb el meu anterior entrenador [Paul Williams]. Volia més la part mental de l'entrenament, no només el físic. Només teníem diferents filosofies, així que vaig decidir canviar d'entrenador.

 

"Ara estic entrenant amb Lucius Robinson i és un gran canvi, psicològic i filosòficament.. Realment estic trencant el que estic fent al ring. No només hi entraré a lluitar. Com a lluitador jove entres al ring i només lluites, però has de fer més que això. Estic aprenent a utilitzar el cap al ring. Quan et pegue, Sé per què et pego, on et pego. Sé què faré.

 

"Aprendre el costat mental del meu esport realment em va portar a un altre nivell. Qualsevol pot entrar-hi i ser noquejat, per això vaig tenir la meva primera pèrdua, però qui realment pot entrar-hi i fer el que fa Floyd? Destrueix un oponent en les rondes posteriors. Domina la dolça ciència. Aquest és el canvi més gran que he tingut en la meva carrera, per aprendre la part mental de l'esport".

 

En els seus tres últims combats...

"Vaig lluitar contra tres prospectes invictes l'any passat i els vaig guanyar. Vaig lluitar Junior Castell que té el poder a les dues mans. Vaig entrar-hi, Vaig fer el meu i el vaig superar. Vaig acabar amb el nocaut Dillon Cuini i després Dominique Dolton, que és un oponent respectable. Vaig tenir un any de dia”.

En la seva lluita contra Dominique Dolton...

"Va ser una cosa que es va reunir a darrera hora. Se suposa que havia de lluitar contra Chris Pearson, però es va ferir. Agraeixo molt l'oportunitat de lluitar contra Dolton perquè molts emergents no tenen l'oportunitat de lluitar contra un noi així.. Dolton va ser com una lluita de campionat per a mi. Em va ensenyar molt i em va portar a un nivell completament diferent. Va ser un oponent substitut, i Déu meu, és un lluitador infernal".

 

En el seu KO sobre Dillon Cook a ShoBox...

"És divertit. Sóc més boxejador que punxador. No busco el nocaut. M'agrada boxejar. Em considero un boxejador. Sento que els meus oponents no solen saber quant de poder tinc. Em subestimen i estic d'acord amb això. El meu poder els desequilibra".

En lluitar contra un zur...

"Quan lluites amb un zurd, només hi ha dues persones que pots estudiar: Floyd Mayweather i Roy Jones Jr. Si els mireu, podreu aprendre moltes coses. Pot ajudar-vos a desenvolupar les vostres habilitats. Vaig fer els deures. Sé exactament què faré demà."

 

En fer pes...

"Mai he tingut problemes per fer pes. El meu cos se sent bé. Quan estava amb Ronnie Shields al començament de la meva carrera, Vaig aprendre que si em cuido el meu pes des del principi, pots concentrar-te en entrenar per a la lluita. Així, això és el que faig. Faig pes aviat i després entreno la mà per lluitar contra el meu oponent".

"Vull quedar bé. Si em concentro a dictar el ritme d'aquesta lluita, arribarà el nocaut. Els meus cops seguiran arribant i finalment faré algun dany. El deixaré caure i després, el pararé.

 

“Sempre busco el nocaut. Simplement és més satisfactori per a mi. M'agraden els KO, però tindré paciència. Sento que Bravo està fet a mida per a mi. Mai ha estat detingut. Així que vull aturar-lo. No em mal, No seré temerari. Però si ell està allà per donar-me un cop de puny, Li donaré un cop de puny i aniré pel nocaut".

 

Sobre el canvi de promotor...

“Top Rank volia fitxar-me de nou, però va ser la meva decisió de marxar. Vaig sentir que no em tractaven bé. Vaig sentir que no estava tenint les oportunitats que em mereixia. Així que vaig decidir signar amb Floyd, i aquí estic, lluitant a SHOWTIME. Va ser una bona jugada".

 

En sparring amb Mikey Garcia...

"Fa anys que he lluitat amb Mikey Garcia. Em va preparar per gairebé totes les baralles professionals que he tingut. Jo diria que ens hem reduït 100 rondes. He après molt d'ell. Crec que tenir-lo com a company d'entrenador ha estat un factor de diferència per a mi. M'ha fet un millor lluitador".

"Vaig a aconseguir un títol a 130 primer i després pujaré de pes. M'agradaria lluitar Berchelt Miguel—el tipus que acaba de vèncer a Vargas. Gervonta Davis també té aquest pes. El trobaré pel camí. M'interessa més la unificació. Vull aconseguir el títol del CMB i després vull anar per l'IBF".

Al camp d'entrenament...

"He estat entrenant al gimnàs de Floyd a Las Vegas. Vam estar una estona al camp d'entrenament. Crec 135 és el meu millor pes per lluitar".

"Vaig mantenir la calma. Vaig pensar que era agut. Molta gent no pensava que guanyaria a Tapia, però ho vaig fer. Els estils fan baralles i ens van combinar perfectament. Des de Tapia, estic molt millor. Tenia molta energia i es movia molt. Al principi em va treure del meu estil, però em vaig adaptar".

 

En el seu oponent, Que seriós...

"Vaig mirar una cinta sobre ell. És de peu pla i es manté immòbil. Sé el que té per oferir. Puc ajustar-me bé. Vaig tenir un bon cop, un gran cop de puny".

 

Sobre el que ve…

"M'encantaria un cop del títol mundial, però em mantindré pacient. Encara estic al gimnàs de Floyd i treballant dur. Vull ser un pes pesat algun dia. M'agradaria estar més actiu i lluitar més.

 

“Si les coses van bé, M'agradaria una foto del títol a finals d'aquest any. No hi ha molts boxejadors americans a la meva classe de pes. M'agradaria lluitar Shumenov Beibu. Això és qui vull.

"Tinc previst vèncer a Andrew Tabiti demà nit. M'he preparat per a això. Ho hem fet tot. He estat preparat per a aquesta lluita mentalment. No he estat mai 100 per cent per lluitar, excepte aquest.

 

"No em preocupa Tabiti. La Tabiti està preocupada per mi. Té el títol a perdre. Així és com ho sento. He vist els seus vídeos de YouTube, i he vist els errors que ha comès. I aprofitaré aquests errors.

 

"No només estic lluitant contra Tabiti, Estic lluitant contra TMT. Estic lluitant contra Floyd. M'estic prenent aquesta lluita molt seriosament".

 

En el seu oponent, Andreu Tabiti...

"Tothom pot semblar bé quan lluites amb nois que no poden lluitar. El seu darrer rival, [Keith] Tapia era bona. Però amb qui més ha lluitat?

 

“Tinc tot per guanyar, res a perdre. Tinc gana. No sóc un mimat, noi mimat. No tinc ningú que em compri cotxes. Tinc una nota de cotxe, una nota de casa, dos nens i un altre de camí. Tinc gana. Ho tinc tot per perdre... Faré el que he de fer".

En la seva carrera professional...

"Vaig tenir una gran carrera amateur. Vaig fer algunes parades i sortides. Vaig tenir problemes quan no vaig signar amb un promotor que sortia de les proves olímpiques i això va aturar una mica la meva carrera professional.. La meva carrera professional va començar lenta. No sóc tan actiu com m'hagués agradat, però sóc jove 34. Mai he rebut una pallissa. Vaig lluitar cinc vegades i 2014, i dues vegades dins 2015 i l'any passat, sense baralles. Visc una vida neta i no bec ni fumo. Només entreno. Cada dia.”

Las Vegas (Set. 16) – The first Las Vegas born world champion, És Ell “Sucre Shay” Herrero (29-8, 12 KOs) defeated Frank “Notori” Galarza (17-2-2, 11 KOs) via majority decision in his hometown from The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC): La Ronda Següent en el comiat de TV.
“I had to dig deep. This was the first time in a very long time I had to dig deep,” said Smith of his victory. “They kept telling me in my corner that its was close. He came to win, but in the end I got the victory.”
Smith and Galarza used the first round to feel each other out, but the action picked up in the second as Smith threw a straight right hand that dropped Galarza to the canvas.
“He caught me off balance and it turned out to be a knockdown. I think that made the difference in the whole fight honestly.”
Galarza came back swinging in the fourth, pressing Smith against the ropes with a tight combination of punches. Smith controlled the fifth round throwing hard blows to the body of Galarza followed by a hard left hook to end the round. The tides turned in the seventh round as Galarza pinned Smith against the ropes with a flurry of body punches. But it was the tenth and final round that sealed a win for Smith as he land punch after punch. Judges saw the bout 95-95, 96-93 i 95-94.
“Young guys feel like I’m old. They like to apply pressure, but I set him up with the traps. I got comfortable in the middle rounds he turned it up a gear and applied pressure I wasn’t ready for,” continued Smith. “It took me a round or two to get adjusted, once I got adjusted I thought I did real well and was able to close the show. I was surprised in the 95-95 i 95-94, I was thinking wow if I didn’t get that knockdown it may have swayed his way for the victory.
“Training with the best like Floyd, Bernard Hopkins, it has allowed me to learn. I have learned so much from the greatest fighter in the world, and pick up something from each of them. I am thankful I was able to pick up a lot along the way in my career.”
Galarza felt as though he had to do much more to get the win.
“I’m in his hometown, Vegas, its his promotion. Those little slip ups were going to cost me the fight. I had to be active, be in his chest, stay busy. There were moments where I was doing that, but I let some of it go at times.
“I think the knockdown made me want to press on the gas and start pushing. He is awkward. He’s wide. He’s all over the place and I didn’t want to get hit with any silly punches.
“It happens. It’s one of those things where we have to go back to the drawing board and we will be back at it again.”
The co-main event featured a pair of super welterweight prospects that produced exciting two-way action from the first bell. Detroit’s Domonique Dolton (17-1-1, 9 KOs) stalked Justin Deloach around the ring, but it was Augusta, Georgia’s Justin DeLoach’s (16-1, 8 KOs) superior boxing ability and effective counterpunching that made the difference. Midway through the fight, a wide cut opened on the bridge of Dolton’s nose, providing an extra target for DeLoach.
“The cut was from a prior fight, and I just wanted to get back in the ring as soon as possible,” said Dolton. “Allowing him to get so many shots in, opened the cut. I can’t blame anyone but myself in this fight.”
“I am disappointed in my performance; I didn’t fight a smart fight. I fought his fight, I wasn’t using my mind in this fight. I was looking for that big shot. Trying to set up a shot the whole fight that I lost sight and didn’t fight smart. I should have been using my jab more, when I had the opportunity to go in on him, I didn’t take it like I should have. Overall I just need to continue what Im doing and get back to my training.
Despite the unanimous decision win where the judges scored the bout 96-94, 98-92 i 99-91, DeLoach also was unimpressed with his own performance.
“I made it way tougher for myself than I should have. I should have used my legs more and listened to my corner,” va dir DeLoach. “I am not satisfied with my performance even though I got the W.I didn’t stay focused enough. Domonique is a tough opponent and I should have stuck to the game plan.
“I’m not going to call out any names because I’m just not happy with my performance,” continued DeLoach. “I am going to be back in the gym els dilluns and work on the things I need to fix before thinking about fighting again.”
The opening bout of the telecast saw Jose Cayetano (20-4, 9 KOs) kick off Mexican Independence Day Weekend with a lot to celebrate. The 10-round super bantamweight bout started slow, but the action picked up in the fifth when Cayetano connected with a sharp right hook, causing Santiago to buckle, but not fall.
At the start of the bell in the seventh round, Santiago forced Cayetano against the ropes, throwing a flurry of punches. Santiago landed a hard right hook mid-way through the ninth round, causing the largely pro-Santiago crowd to cheer. The fight finished strong with both fighters swinging for the fences, exchanging hard blows bringing the crowd to their feet. 97-93, 96-94 2X.
“Santiago started out strong but as the rounds went on, he got less and less so,” said Cayetano. “The fifth round was when I knew I really had him and it continued from there. Even though he landed some shots, he never hurt me.
“I want to fight Leo Santa Cruz in a rematch next. That is the fight I really want. Two Mexican warriors at it again.”
“This was the worst performance of my career,” va dir en Santiago. “I could have done everything better. I wasn’t able to find myself during the fight. I usually am able to, but this time it was hard for me.”

After being defeated by unbeaten Jarret Hurd in November 2015, Galarza is determined to reclaim his spot as a contender in the 154-pound division. Training out of the Flatbush Cops and Kids Boxing Gym in Brooklyn with longtime trainer Nirmal Lorick, Galarza has his sights set on the top of the super welterweight division.
Here is what Galarza had to say about training camp, his main event showdown, the 154-pound division and more:
What kind of problems does Ishe Smith propose and what does a victory over him do for you?
FG: “I don’t anticipate having any problems with Ishe. I spar the best guys in the world and with guys who have a lot more experience than I do. I’m going to go in, do my job and make adjustments as needed.
“Beating Ishe puts me exactly where I need to be. I took my first loss in Las Vegas and I wasn’t on my A-game. Fighting Ishe puts me right back after the loss. I constantly put myself to the test with top guys. Ishe is someone in my path who at this point, is in my way.”
What’s your mentality following the loss in your last fight?
FG: “I have lost so much in my life, so I see this loss as just a number. Boxing has everyone fooled that we need to be undefeated to be a top contender or to be great. Some of the greatest fighters have suffered losses. I am looking to be legendary and continue to fight great guys. I’m going to put my record on the line and challenge myself.
“I don’t have a deep boxing background, so I’m learning on the job. I am able to overcome every obstacle. This fight isn’t about the money, this fight and my career is for me. I want to challenge myself.”
Who do you see as the top fighters in the 154-pound division?
FG: “The Charlo Brothers, Demetrius Andrade, Julian Williams and Erislandy Lara are the top of the division in my mind. There are a lot of good fighters in this division. At this point now, the other guys need to go, and that’s where I come into play. Someone like Ishe is an older guy and he needs to give it up and get out of the way for hungry guys like me and the rest of us. People want to see guys like us.”
Who would you like to matchup with, if you can defeat Ishe Smith?
FG: “I’ll face anybody. I’m not trying to fluff my record. I come off a tough loss and I’m looking to beat a former world champion. Give me the best fight and the top guys. Give me one of the Charlo brothers and I’ll fight for one of their titles. Put me in with any of these guys and I will put them to the test, if not beat them.
“It’s a drive I have in me, especially lately, where I feel like I’ve been overlooked. It upsets me to be underestimated. I never turn down a fight. I have to be fearless in order to make it where I need to go. I am not a mediocre fighter. There’s a reason they call me the ‘Brooklyn Rocky.’ I’ve been through adversity and Ishe is in for a rude awakening. The boxing industry has me completely underestimated and at the end of the day, may the best man win.”
Talk about your work outside of the ring and how you strive to inspire kids who grew up in similar situations to yourself:
FG: “I have a non-profit called Youth Fighting Forward. I teach them that no matter what you go through, you can be whoever you want to be I came from nothing and I lost my parents at a young age. I don’t use that as an excuse. I refuse to be a statistic. I want to give the kids back that inspiration.
“Whatever it is you love to do; you are more than capable of doing it. It is in your hands to be a success story. You are not where you came from. We have the ability to change lives. My focus is to help kids growing up who are surrounded by negativity to see a positive. I put my body to the limits and when I don’t want to work out, I push through that. I want to show the kids that they have to have discipline to get through it and one day, I will be a world champion.”

The Las Vegas-native will be fighting in his hometown for the 18º time in his career when he faces Galarza. A former 154-pound titlist, Smith looks to prove that he is still amongst the championship contenders in the division with a victory on Setembre 16.
Here is what Smith had to say about training camp, seu oponent i més:
How has this training camp been going and how does it compare to past camps?
“Pretty steady, we are taking things back to the basics and correcting a lot of errors. We are focused on fixing some things and working on a few new techniques. We are going back to school and fine tuning the details. It is so hard to compete at the highest level in boxing. The champion and contender level is very challenging. I have lost a couple of close fights at this level, and won a few at this level as well.
“This training camp has been good but more challenging than the past camps. I normally am the one calling the shots and taking control, but I have given all of that to my coaches and let them take the reins. I have been in this game for 16 any, 30 overall as both a professional and amateur. If I want to get where I need to be, I need to have the right team in place, and that is what I respect about my current team.”
What kind of skill set does your opponent bring and how do you prepare for it?
“I’m not wasting my time focusing on what Galarza does or what he has done to his opponents. My opponent is myself and executing the game plan that we put forth. A lot of people think this is a big step up for him and they usually get hungrier when given the opportunity, but I have been in there with other hungry young fighters. I am going to go out there and show him there are levels to this.”
If you can get past Galarza, who would you like to fight in the 154-pound division next?
“I am totally focusing on the opponent at hand. I would like to fight again this year if possible, but my main focus is Galarza. He is coming off of a loss, where he got stopped. I have been in there with everybody, and the guys I lost to were controversial decisions. I have been around the block so my main opponent on Setembre 16 is myself. There are levels to this game and I am going to treat this fight at such.”
What does it mean to you to fight in front of your hometown fans in Las Vegas?
“Whenever I can fight in front of my family, amics, and loved ones, significa tot per a mi. I have never fought at the Cosmopolitan, but have been to fights there. Headlining a fight there adds another notch to my career.”
As one of the more experienced members of the Mayweather Promotions stable, have you taken on a mentor/leadership role with the young fighters in the gym?
“El més definitivament. I am the oldest on the team, so if I feel like guys are doing things wrong or if I think they should be going right instead of left, I definitely let them know. I am an old soul. I may not hang out every day or want to do the things they like to do, but I still give them my advice.
“I hope that I help to motivate them. I want to prevent them from making some of the decisions I made that I then had to learn from. Some may think I’m being hard on them but you just have to take it as constructive criticism and keep learning.”

Chris Pearson Forced to Withdraw After Suffering Cut in Sparring

A highly regarded fighter out of the late Emanuel Steward’s Kronk Gym, the Detroit-native Dolton battled to a draw in an exciting matchup against then-unbeaten Oscar Molina last September. The 26-year-old took home victories over Victor Fonseca and Juan Carlos Rojas in 2015 and owns wins over Donatas Bondorovas, Richard Gutierrez and Jonathan Batista in his eight-year career.
In his first bout of 2016, the 22-year-old DeLoach delivered a sensational knockout over previously unbeaten Dillon Cook in his debut with new trainer and former world champion Paul Williams. DeLoach followed that up by knocking down previously unbeaten Junior Castillo twice on his way to a unanimous decision victory in June.
