“I was sparring for my fight with Jack,” Rozicki remembered. “I threw a right to the body and my tendon snapped. I certainly wasn’t expecting that, but I knew it when I heard it pop. I didn’t see it (damaged bicep) until I looked down and saw my bicep pulled up to my shoulder. MIAMI(Juni 7, 2021) – All-time boxing greatFloyd "Money" Mayweatherand social media sensationLogan “The Maverick” Paulfought to the distance in their eight-round special exhibition bout Sunday night that headlined a SHOWTIME PPV from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Mayweather displayed his typical patient and clinical boxing style, feeling out Paul in the opening round, before allowing Paul to come forward with a flurry of power shots at the end of the round that were mostly blocked, but excited the crowd nonetheless. As the fight wore on, Mayweather began to find a spot to land numerous power shots on Paul’s head and body.
Despite sustaining punishment in the middle rounds, Paul was able to use his over 30-pound weight advantage to frequently tie Mayweather up and avoid being stopped or sent to the canvas.
“Even without much experience, he knew to use his weight to tie me up tonight,” said Mayweather.

Known as a slow starter throughout his accomplished career, Jack came out faster in this fight and was sharp from the outset against the replacement opponent Colina, who stepped in for Jean Pascal after Pascal failed a pre-fight drug test.
“He was trying to hold a lot and survive,” said Jack. “I fight better when I fight better opponents. I was a little sloppy. The world class fights are when I perform the best.”
Jack’s effectiveness forced Colina to try to hold to stop the incoming attack, but he was only able to use that strategy briefly, as referee Frank Santore Jr. took away points for holding in rounds two and three, warning Colina that one more infraction would end the fight in disqualification.

Colina fought valiantly to stay in the fight, but the body attack from Jack helped him finally earn the stoppage. “I’m a big guy and I walk around heavy, so I might move up to cruiserweight,” said Jack post fight about his future plans. “My goal is to become a three-division champion and I fight better when I don’t have to cut a lot of weight.”
The pay-per-view telecast also saw veteran contenderLuis Arias(19-2-1, 9 KO)score a split-decision victory over former unified 154-pound champion"Swift" Jarrett Hurd(24-2, 16 KO)in an action-packed 10-round affair.
“I’m not sure what went wrong tonight,” said Hurd. “I believe I won the fight. I had a knockdown. I could make a hundred excuses but it wasn’t a great performance.”
Arias controlled the early rounds of the duel, attacking Hurd with numerous combinations that landed flush. His clean power punching was an advantage throughout, as he out landed Hurd in power punches by a total of 153 naar 120 while landing over 40% of those shots.
“The game plan was to jump on him, get the early lead and keep it,” said Arias. “I felt like in the middle rounds I was winning the fight but you never know because I wasn’t the A-side in this fight. I buzzed him a lot, especially on the inside.”
Hurd began to attempt to mount a comeback in rounds five and six, closing the distance effectively and finding a home for short right hooks and right uppercuts, with Arias even acknowledging that he was made unsteady after the action.
“I came in here and challenged the number one guy at 154 pounds and we fought somewhere halfway and I was able to edge a decision,” said Arias. “Props to Jarrett Hurd. You fought a great fight. In a fight that had two brief delays to weather affecting the ring surface, Hurd scored a knockdown in round nine with a glancing right hand after Arias appeared to slip on the ring. Despite the advantage on the scorecard, the uneasy footing affected Hurd’s plan to box Arias from the outside.
“The plan coming out in the first round was to box,” said Hurd. “I wasn’t as confident in my feet as the rain came down, so I had to go toe-to-toe more. That wasn’t really what we trained for, so I was a bit sloppy.”
Arias bounced back effectively from the knockdown in the final round, with his onslaught eventually forcing Hurd to look to hold on in the final minutes to reach the final bell. In his first outing with new trainer Ismael Salas, Arias ended the night victorious, with one judge scoring the fight 95-94 for Hurd, overruled by scores of 97-93 en 96-93 for Arias.
“I would like to thank Ismael Salas,” said Arias. “I came to him semi-late. About six or seven weeks and I needed to change something in my game plan to beat Jarrett. The things I was doing before would have gotten me a loss tonight. I needed somebody to just tweak a little bit and put my game up a little bit so I could beat this champion.”
“I’ll take the rematch at whatever weight,” said Hurd. “I know I’m the better man.”
In the opening bout of the pay-per-view, former NFL starChad Johnsonmade his boxing debut in an exhibition that went the four-round distance against versatile pro fighterBrian Maxwell.
“I had fun," zei Johnson. “I had two months to get ready for this and I want to thank God for keeping us safe out there. I want to thank Floyd, Leonard Ellerbe and my whole team for allowing me to check this off my bucket list.”
“Ask the world who Brian Maxwell is now,” said Maxwell. “Brian Maxwell is here. Dankjewel, Tsjaad. It was an honor fighting my idol and I appreciate it.”
Johnson showed off the “sweet feet” that made him a six-time Pro Bowler, landing some strong jabs and check hooks from distance, while avoiding serious damage from Maxwell over the first three rounds.

“I don’t really care about the title too much, I really just cared about getting that revenge against Pascal. I waited so long for this and I could have taken different fights while I waited.
“He’s an undefeated guy so he’s going to come in here with a lot of confidence looking to show off his power. We’ll be ready though regardless how he comes into the fight. I had great sparring like always, so I’m prepared for what he’s going to bring.”

“We’ve had an amazing training camp with my new trainer Kay Koroma in Colorado Springs. I have a chip on my shoulder. I think a lot of people forgot who I was. I had the best resume in the weight class. Come Sunday, I’m going to remind everyone who I am.
“It’s always strictly business and it’ll be the same on Sunday. Arias is obsessed with my weight and thinks I’m struggling. But he needs to focus on what he needs to do on Sunday night.
“I don’t know where I’m rated right now, but I’m the best fighter at 154 pond. Showing that to the world is the goal on Sunday.
“We just took it back to the basics in training camp with my coach Kay Koroma. You can always learn more in the sport.
“I’ve been boxing for 15 years now and coach Koroma just helped me evolve the things I already knew. He’s got me not just coming forward and using my strength, but moving around and boxing a little bit.”
LUIS ARIAS
“I think the narrative is they needed an opponent for Jarrett Hurd, and I wasn’t looking so great lately. But people tend to forget I was 18-0 before I got my first blemish. When I was with Floyd Mayweather, Ik was 9-0 and that’s when I was most comfortable. That’s the mentality I’m taking into this fight.
“I’ve been around Floyd since December. I’ve been in Vegas training in the altitude, just like Hurd. I’m in tip-top shape for this fight and he still has to figure out how he’s going to fight.
“Now the boxing world is going to be watching this fight. I’m going to be on my Ps and Qs and he won’t have to look for me. He will have to pick and choose once he gets hit on Sunday what style he wants to fight.
“This is a must-win for me. This is a great name for my resume. I haven’t ducked anyone. I’ve taken every name that’s been brought to me. When his name came up I said absolutely. I’m ready and I’m an old-school fighter. I’d fight you in this backyard, that backyard, any backyard. On Sunday it will show.
“He’s the one who has got the issue with the weight. The fight doesn’t really make much sense at 160 because he’s not ranked and wants to go back down to 154. But it’s too big of an opportunity and too big of a card to complain about the weight. We’re going to put the gloves on and whatever he weighs, he weighs. This is going to be the best fight on the card.”

“I feel really good. I’ve been using boxing to prepare for football throughout the years, but I’ve never done it to this magnitude. To prepare for an actual fight, is something new. I’m facing a guy who does this for a living, so I’m not taking this lightly at all.
“I was always nervous before every kickoff. So I’d be a fool to say I’m not nervous going into something where I’m out of my element.

Born in Stockholm, Krik (22-3-3, 13 KO), who represented his father’s home country of Gambia in the 2008 Olympische Spelen, now lives in Las Vegas. Jack won the 168-pound world title with a majority decision against Anthony Dirrell in 2015 and successfully defended the belt three times before being handed a hard-fought majority draw against James DeGale in one of 2017’s best fights. In his first bout at 175 pond, Jack stopped Nathan Cleverly to pick up the WBA light heavyweight title before fighting to a majority draw against then WBC champion Adonis Stevenson in May 2018. After dropping a narrow fight to Pascal in 2019, Jack’s most recent outing saw him earn a unanimous decision over Blake McKernan in November 2020.
The 33-year-old Colina (15-0, 13 KO) lives in Medellin, Colombia, and is a native of Venezuela. He steps in on short notice to make his United States debut against Jack. JARRETT HURD
“Trainingskamp was geweldig. Ik heb in anderhalf jaar niet gevochten, dus ik had de kans om echt mijn tijd te nemen met dit kamp. Ik heb veel tijd gehad om het werk te doen. Ik train met vechters zoals Terence Crawford, Shakur Stevenson, Troy Isley en nog veel meer. We werken hier allemaal dag in dag uit.
“Arias is een geweldige vechter. Dit wordt het soort teen-tot-teen-gevecht dat ik leuk vind. Hij zal daar voor me zijn en klaar om te vechten. Hij is nooit gestopt, dus ik ben bereid om tot het uiterste te gaan.
"We hebben dit verhaal eerder gezien van Arias. Hij praat een groot spel, maar kijk naar zijn gevechten tegen topvechters. Het maakt niet uit op welk gewicht ik sta, Arias weet wat er gaat komen. Ik heb een verlies geleden, maar ik heb de overwinning behaald in mijn laatste gevecht en ik ben op weg terug.
“Ik heb gewoon een dominante overwinning nodig in juni 6. Luis Arias kan het lelijk maken, maar ik moet overtuigend gaan winnen en iedereen laten weten dat ik terug ben. Ik wil niet op een slordige manier winnen, Ik wil er goed uitzien.
"Hij denkt misschien dat hij me op het juiste moment vangt, maar het wordt in juni geen goede tijd voor hem 6. Ik kan boksen en ik kan knallen, het maakt niet uit. We zullen op fight night beslissen welke stijl ik ga gebruiken. Ik weet dat ik hem hoe dan ook kan verslaan.
“Ik heb geprobeerd aan mijn slechte gewoonten te werken na mijn verlies. Ik was een rechttoe rechtaan man die net op je af kwam. Ik wilde in mijn laatste gevecht tegen Francisco Santana laten zien dat ik mijn lengte en bereik kan gebruiken als dat nodig is. Ik wilde alles in dozen doen 10 rondes en dat deed ik.
'Ik heb nog steeds te veel onafgemaakte zaken voor 154 pond. Ik heb veel ruzie, inclusief mijn rematch tegen Julian Williams, die ik nog steeds wil krijgen. Ik wil mijn titels terugkrijgen. "Het wordt een zware strijd. Als hij wil knallen, we kunnen knallen. Als hij zegt dat hij wil boksen, hij is niet de betere bokser. "Ik ben nog jong en ik vecht me er nog steeds doorheen. Ik moest gewoon de juiste aanpassingen maken. Ik zal geen wanhopige vechter worden. Ik ga daar naar binnen en vecht zoals ik vecht. Ik heb altijd al gevechten op kampioenschapsniveau in me gehad, maar ik heb het gewoon niet laten zien. Dit is voor mij een perfecte gelegenheid om het te laten zien.
"Ik kom achter hem aan. Ik heb om te winnen. Hij hoeft me niet te vinden. Ik kom er zo aan. Als ik hem in het midden van de ring moet boksen of als ik mijn hoofd in zijn borst moet steken en hem eruit moet halen, dan is dat wat ik moet doen. JACK Badou
“Floyd called me in January last year and told me the rematch was on for April. That was last year. It’s been done since we walked out of the ring the first time, but I’m happy it’s finally done. I’m happy it’s here and I’m ready to put on a show.
“I’m trying to perfect everything in preparation for this matchup. Better nutrition. Better conditioning. Better sparring. I’m trying to be better at everything.
“This is my second fight with my new trainer Johnathan Banks. The first was just a tune-up fight. It wasn’t a high-level fight. It was an eight-rounder, so it was just like a sparring session. But I’m in way better shape than I was in the last camp and I’m ready to go.
“My fight is going to be a hell of a fight. Everybody knows that. It was a Fight of the Year contender last time. Floyd vs. Logan is going to be entertainment. That’s a different kind of fight, but Floyd is going to put on a show. All of the eyeballs are going to be on that night so it’s going to be a great night.

“Johnathan Banks is my new coach. He’s great. He’s only a year older than me so we have great chemistry together and everything has been working great. It was a little hard in the beginning to adjust to certain things, but now in camp I feel great in sparring and everything we’re doing right now.”

“It feels amazing to be involved in this event. For a fighter like me who’s been up and down, who was undefeated at one point and then lost it all, went from being one of the best to being overlooked, to be able to fight my way through and to be able to keep fighting and keep working to get back on this big stage is truly a blessing. “Boxing is my life and I had to make the necessary changes to get back to this level. I’ve already been to the highest level and I fell short. I got the experience of being there, I know what I need to do to get there and I made those necessary changes. It’s one of the reasons I came back to Vegas, to start training over here to get that experience, to get to that level and to get better. That’s what I’ve been doing and that’s why I’ve been able to prove that I still belong. Floyd saw it. I sparred Floyd. He sees that I still got it and I’m making the changes. He sees how my body is changing and he sees that I can still compete.”

“Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul is entertainment. Floyd is an entertainer. Logan Paul is an entertainer. One thing about the Paul brothers is they’ve shown they can have an impact on anything that they do. I’ve been very impressed with both of those guys, especially Logan. I call him the king of the internet. One thing about both of them is that they’ve been extremely consistent at what they’ve been doing. I’m not going to stand here and pretend that these guys are ready for championship fights because they’re not, but they work extremely hard and they’re very good at what they do.”

While Paul stands six inches taller than Mayweather and owns an 18-year age advantage, the social media sensation will be challenging the best boxer of his generation, in his arena.
Pascal (35-6-1, 20 KO) earned a narrow split-decision victory over Jack in their December 2019 title showdown that saw both men hit the canvas. Prior to that fight, Pascal captured his interim title by handing Marcus Browne the first defeat of his professional career. Pascal scored four knockdowns in that fight, eventually earning a close technical decision when a cut suffered by Browne on an accidental head butt stopped the fight after eight rounds. The 38-year-old has been in the ring with the top fighters of his era during his brilliant career, including Bernard Hopkins, Sergey Kovalev, Carl Froch, Lucian Bute, and Chad Dawson. Pascal, who was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and now lives in Laval, Quebec, won his first light heavyweight world title with a unanimous decision over Adrian Diaconu in 2009.
Krik (22-3-3, 13 KO) will look to avenge the razor-thin defeat he suffered to Pascal in their first match. Jack mounted an impressive rally on the scorecards that nearly turned the match in his favor. Born in Stockholm, Krik (who represented his father’s home country of Gambia in the 2008 Olympische Spelen) now lives in Las Vegas. Jack won the 168-pound world title with a majority decision against Anthony Dirrell in 2015 and successfully defended the belt three times before being handed a hard-fought majority draw against James DeGale in one of 2017’s best fights. In his first bout at 175 pond, Jack stopped Nathan Cleverly to pick up the WBA light heavyweight title before fighting to a majority draw against then WBC champion Adonis Stevenson in May 2018. The 30-year-old has faced some of the best in the middleweight division, including going the distance with former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs in a 2017 duel.
