ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (July 22, 2016)-Welterweight Anthony “Juice” Young won a six-round unanimous decision over veteran Eduardo Flores in the featured bout of a nine-bout card this past Friday night at the Claridge in Atlantic City.
The bout headlined a sold out night of boxing that was promoted by Rising Promotions. It was the fourth consecutive sold out event in the last eight months that Rising Promotions has staged.
The co-feature saw welterweight Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna tuned up for a major bout in the fall with a first round destruction of Engleberto Valenzuela in a super welterweight bout.
Young, of Atlantic City systematically took apart Flores, despite Flores trying to frustrate Young by coming in with wild shots for which some strayed behind the head.
In the end, It was Young, who was not headlining for the first time, but being spurred on by his hometown fans and he was able to get the victory to the tune of 60-54 & 59-55 twice.
Young of Atlantic City is now 13-2. Flores of Ecuador is 23-22-5.
LaManna of Millville, New Jersey took apart his Mexican opponent with a hard combination that sent Valenzuela into the corner. The popular New Jersey Product wasted no time in getting Valenzuela out of the fight by landing a thunderous body punch that sent him to the canvas. The fight was halted at 2:17 of round one.
LaManna will take on a highly-regarded opponent (To be announced this week) onSeptember 16th at Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.
This was “Cornflake’s” fifth consecutive win and second consecutive inside the distance to raise his record to 21-1 with ten knockouts. Valenzuela is 10-8.
Heavyweight Dan Pasciolla avenged his only pro defeat by winning a six-round unanimous decision over Dante Selby.
Pasciolla was credited a knockdown in round two as he landed a flurry in the corner and it was ruled that only the ropes stopped Selby from hitting the canvas.
Pasciolla of Brick, New Jersey won by scores of 60-53 twice and 59-54 and is now 8-1-1. Selby of Philadelphia, was coming off a two and a half year layoff is 2-2-1. Exciting bantamweight prospect Christian Carto made it two consecutive stoppages by halting debuting Christopher Nelson in round three of their scheduled four-round bout. Carto of Deptford, NJ floored the Indiana native in each of the three rounds and the bout was stopped fifty-one seconds into the third frame.
Carto is now 2-0 with two knockouts.
Marvin Johnson scored a third-round knockdown en route to a four round unanimous decision over Lamont White in a lightweight bout. Scores were 40-35, 40-36 and 39-36 for Johnson of Atlantic City who is now 1-0-1. White of Washington, DC is 0-2.
Dallas Holden of Atlantic Cit won a four round unanimous decision over Kevin Asmat in a bantamweight bout featuring New Jersey based pro debuters.
It was a close fight with each fighter making a case for the victory.
In the end, all three cards read 39-37 in favor Holden of Atlantic City over the North Bergen native.
In a battle of pro debuters, Donald Smith of Philadelphia won his pro debut by winning a four-round unanimous decision over Cameron Cain of Indiana. in a junior lightweight bout.
Smith controlled the action and won by scores of 40-35 and 40-36 twice.
Chinese light heavyweight Fanlong Meng scored a knockdown and was ruled the winner via 5th round stoppage over former contender Daniel Judah in a scheduled eight round bout.
Meng sent Judah into the ropes with a left hand that was ruled a knockdown and Meng and the referee ruled that Judah could not continue at the bout was stopped at 2:08.
Meng is now 8-0 with 6 knockouts. Judah of Brooklyn, NY is 24-11-3.
Zhang Zhilei of China won a six round unanimous decision over Rodney Hernandez in a heavyweight bout.
Scores were 60-53 and 59-55 twice for Zhilei of China, who is now 11-0. Hernandez is 10-5-1.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (July 20, 2016)–This Friday night at the Claridge in Atlantic City, welterweight, Thomas ” Cornflake” LaManna will take on Engleberto Valenzuela in a six-round bout in a card promoted by Rising Promotions.
With a win, the 24 year-old of Millville, New Jersey is staring a big opportunity in the face against an undefeated opponent that is already penciled in for a September 16th date in Atlantic City.
Although, LaManna can not and will not get into specifics of that fight until he comes through the fight with Valenzuela as he is not taking the native of Sonora, Mexico lightly.
“Valenzuela is a guy from Mexico, who will come to fight. I will try to invest in body work early and see where that goes,” said Lamanna.
LaManna stepped up his training as he started his camp out west and worked with a high class of fighters in an effort to up his skill level.
“Everything went well in camp. I started out in Las Vegas and worked with 2012 Olympic Gold medal winner Ryota Murata. Originally I was not going to fight because of the fight in September, But I was feeling good, so we are ready to put on a great performance.”
This is the fourth fight card for Rising Promotions at The Claridge. The Promotional company headed by Thomas and his mother Debbie. Putting on a show where LaManna is promoting is a daunting task as he must find time to take care of all aspects in putting a show together, but also train properly for a high-class professional boxing match.
“At times it is difficult to train and work on the promotional aspects of the show. But I am intelligent enough to oversee that everyone is doing their job. We have had three shows and I have fought on two of them, and everything has gone well for us and me in the ring as well. If there is a problem, I fix it, but I am a fighter first. The training is most important. That get’s taken care of first, and then I take care of the promotional end of things.”

KEA BOXING ANNOUNCES SUMMER RETURN!
Jorge Diaz, Danny McDermott, and Godson Noel in Triple Header Main Event!
NJ Boxing Hall of Fame Promoter Andre Kut has announced that KEA Boxing will be returning this summer with “Boxing at the Expo.” This all professional boxing show will be held at The New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Edison, NJ on Saturday July 30, 2016. This will be the 12th year that Kut will be promoting professional boxing shows in New Jersey since his debut show in June of 2004. Kut was inducted into the NJ Boxing Hall of Fame this past November with Presidential candidate Donald Trump, Micky Ward, and several other boxing dignitaries for his role as a trainer, manager, and promoter in the sport, specifically in New Jersey. Kut says that this will be a “Triple header show featuring all local talent.”
Headlining the show will be New Brunswick’s very own Jorge “King” Diaz. Diaz currently has a record 18 wins with 4 losses is looking to make a comeback after a loss to undefeated featherweight Abraham Lopez last August. Diaz will be looking forward to fighting again in his backyard and home state. Diaz also hopes that this is the start of his climb back into the rankings to have a title shot again as he has fought twice for two different world titles in the past.
The Brick City’s undefeated fighting fireman and Army Veteran Godson “Soldier Boy” Noel will be part of the triple header action. Noel currently holds a record of 6-0 with 4 knockouts and will be fighting for the third time this year after receiving a controversial draw back in March up in Massachusetts. Noel is currently a Newark Fireman and served in the United States Army. He is being labeled as one of New Jersey top rising prospects in the super middleweight division since signing a promotional contract with KEA Boxing back in 2015.
Danny “Little Mac” McDermott will be completing the triple header main event action when he steps back in the ring as a welterweight. Fighting out of North Bergen, McDermott currently holds a record of 12-5. McDermott recently fought in the United Kingdom and the Philippines twice where he also became the current WBC Asian Boxing Council champion. McDermott said he is very excited to fight again so close to home, as this is his first fight back in the states since 2013.
Heavyweight fights are always entertaining and action packed, so this show will also be featuring Jersey City’s Tyrell Wright. Wright, who is also undefeated with 8 wins will continue his dream of making an impact in the heavyweight division. Wright is currently trained and managed by former boxer Bobby Rooney.
Rounding out the card will be Darren “Venom” Goodall fighting out of New Milford. Goodall is currently undefeated with 3 wins in the light heavyweight division and has already fought on the big stage in Madison Square Garden and even the Prudential Center in Newark. Goodall also owns the famous Venom Fitness Boxing and Fitness Center in Wyckoff. His facility has quickly become known as one of the best training facilities for fitness and group classes in Northern New Jersey. Goodall is also known for his lighting quick speed and power.
Andrew “Sweet Pea” Bentley currently 3-2 will also be on the card. His flashy outfits, crown, and even sunglasses for his ring walk are sure to please the crowd as he can back up his flashy behavior with his boxing skills. Bentley is also under the watchful eye of manager and trainer Bobby Rooney with his stable mate Tyrell Wright.
Two former amateur fighters who will be making their professional debut will be Kevin Hernandez and Gerald Javier both fighting out of Bergenfield. Atlantic City, NJ (May 30, 2016)–This past Friday night at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, Rising Promotions staged it’s third consecutive fight card in front of a large crowd that saw Isiah Seldon defeat Eddie Edmond in the six-round main event.
The middleweight bout highlighted a entertaining six bout card.
Seldon rocked Edmond several times with right hands that had the Newark, New Jersey resident holding on. The grabbing got much more severe and Edmond was deducted a point in round four. In round six, Seldon sealed the fight when he landed a right hand that forced Edmond’s glove to touch the canvas for a knockdown.
Seldon, 156 lbs won by scores of 59-54, 59-53 and 58-54 to raise his record to 9-1. Edmond, 158 lbs is 4-5-2.
In the co-feature, Chuck Mussachio shook off 39 months of ring rust to pound out a six-round unanimous decision over Willis Lockett in a cruiserweight rematch of a draw that occurred almost eight-years ago.
Mussachio was adept with his jab and landed some hard right hands that stunned Lockett. Despite the long layoff, Mussachio was sharp with his punches and reflexes looked on-point as he was only hit with a couple right hands. Mussachio thrilled his fan base that has stood by him throughout his eleven year career and the Lower Cape May Regional High School guidance counselor will look to make one more run at a title fight.
Mussachio, 183 lbs of Wildwood, New Jersey won by scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 58-56 and is now 19-3-2. Lockett, 205.3 lbs of Takoma Park, Maryland is 14-17-5.
In an action filled welterweight bout, Quan Johnson made a successful pro debut with a fourth round stoppage over Adrian Wilson in the final scheduled round of their welterweight bout.
Johnson showed fast hands from his southpaw stance and he got off to a good start when a straight left hand in round one landed for a knockdown. Moments later, a hard straight left sent Wilson down for a second time in the opening frame, Wilson began to bleed from his nose in the next round and his troubles worsened when a cut over the right eye formed after another hard left. Wilson showed heart as he fought back hard but, he was outgunned as he tasted the canvas two more times in round four from first a right hook and then finally an accumulation of punches forced the bout to be stopped at 2:15 of round four.
Johnson, 148.6 of Cherry Hill, New Jersey is 1-0 with 1 knockout. Wilson, 147.3 lbs of Atlantic Cuty is 0-3.
Heavyweight’s Quian Davis and Soloman Maye battled to a four round majority draw
Davis boxed but Maye came forward in attempt to make the fight. The judges liked the aggressiveness of Maye and gave him credit for two rounds on two cards ad Davis took a card 39-37 while two read even at 38-38.
Davis, 253 lbs of Mays Landing, New Jersey is now 2-0-2. Maye, 226.7 lbs of New Haven, Connecticut is 1-6-2.
2016 United States Olympic Alternate, LeRoy Davila stopped Dominic Whitehurst in the second round in a scheduled four round bantamweight bout featuring pro debuter’s.
Davila showed quick hands from his southpaw stance and dropped Whitehurst with a body combination in round two. Davila landed a three punch combination to the body to register a second knockdown. Davila ended things when he landed a hard left hand and the fight was stopped at 2:34.
Davila, 116.9 lbs of New Brunswick, New Jersey is now 1-0 with one knockout. Whitehurst, 117.5 lbs of Chillicothe, Ohio is 0-1.
Said Davila’s manager, Pete Festa, “Rising Promotions is the best up and coming promoter in the industry.”
Lamont Capers opened up the show by scoring a eight round split decision over Nick Kisner in a cruiserweight bout.
Capers was effective with the right hand that continued to get through on Kisner. Kisner landed some good shots that made Capers nose bleed, but he wasn’t as consistent or active enough to pile up the rounds. Kisner was deducted a point for holding in round seven.
Capers, 196.2 lbs of Hawley, Pennsylvania won by scores of 77-74 twice, while Kisner took a card 76-75. Capers is now 6-8-2. Kisner, 197.8 lbs of Baltimore, Maryland falls to 16-3-1.
“We are the most active promoter in New Jersey and our mission is bring world class boxing back to the boxing capital of the state and that’s Atlantic City. We are working on bringing TV into the picture in the very near future,” said Rising Promotions Thomas LaManna.
“Debbie LaManna and Rising Promotions have done a tremendous job in trying to restore Atlantic City’s reputation as a boxing town again. They seem to have found a niche by bringing local fighters who have strong fan bases to a great venue like the Claridge,” said prominent boxing writer, Dave Weinberg of The Atlantic City Press.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (May 26, 2016)–THIS Friday night, May 27th, a big night of boxing will kick off a holiday weekend at The Claridge in Atlantic City as Rising Promotions will present a terrific card of boxing.
In the main event, It will be about New Jersey bragging rights as Isiah Seldon will take on Eddie Edmond in a bout scheduled for six-rounds.
In a one of the undercard bout, Baltimore-based cruiserweight contender, “Slick” Nick Kisner will take on Lamont Capers.
Kisner, who was a prized amateur that saw him become a 3-time National Silver Gloves champion, a 2-time National junior Golden Gloves champion and a Ringside World championship, just to name a few of his big wins in the non-paying ranks.
The 25 year-old has a record of 16-2-1 with six knockouts.
“I have had a very good training camp,” said Kisner. “Capers is a tough and durable opponent. He has been in with some very good fighters, but I am very confident about getting the win on Friday.”
Kisner has won two in a row since his highest profile bout to date when he dropped a ten round unanimous decision to former two-time world title challenger Lateef Kayode,
In that bout, Kisner fought well and had some moments in the bout, but came up just short in a fight that seemed closer then the official scorecards.
“I learned a lot about in that fight. I went 10-rounds for the first time. I did that against one of the best fighters in the divisions. That was the fight where, also learned the best way to get down to 200 pounds. Before that fight, I would kill myself to make the weight.”
That training regimen has worked so well, that Kisner is now contemplating a move to light heavyweight.
“That is the plan. In fact, if everything goes well on Friday, that I am looking at a big name at light heavyweight in August.”
But first, he has to deal with Capers, not far from Kisner’s hometown of Baltimore.
“I am excited to be fighting in Atlantic City. It is one of the big stages in boxing. ComeFriday, I am going to put on a great show, and I am going to show the world that I am great fighter. I have learned from my previous fights. I have matured and on Friday, people will see that I am on the best fighters in the world.”
In a six-round co-feature, one of the most popular fighter’s from the shore area, Light Heavyweight Chuck Mussachio will be back in the ring after a 39-month lay off when he takes on Willis Lockett in a rematch of a bout that that ended in a draw on September 19, 2008.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (May 23, 2016)–THIS Friday night, May 27th, a big night of boxing will kick off a holiday weekend at The Claridge in Atlantic City as Rising Promotions will present a terrific card of boxing.
In the main event, It will be about New Jersey bragging rights as Isiah Seldon will take on Eddie Edmond in a bout scheduled for six-rounds.
Seldon, who is the son of former WBA Heavyweight champion, Bruce Seldon will be making his 2nd appearance in three months as he is coming off a 6-round on March 19th over Michael Mitchell, has been in the gym to round back into form after 33-month layoff.
“Training camp has been great. We have been doing a lot of boxing as I been still shaking off some rust from the layoff,” said Seldon. “To come right back is not a big deal. I am an athlete and I am always in good shape. My body feels better when I am active and in the gym. Even when I wasn’t getting the fights, I was always in the gym.”
In Edmond, he is fighting a fighter from Newark, New Jersey and has similar experience.
“I have seen some video of him. He comes forward and he throws punches. That is the kid of fight that I want to be in. He will come to fight and that should ,make for entertaining fight.”
This will be the 2nd straight fight for Seldon against a fellow foe from the Garden State, but that doesn’t matter to the 27 year-old native of Atlantic City.
“I don’t care where a person is from. A fight is a fight. In fact, I actually want to see all the locals make it. That is unless they are fighting me. It is always fun fighting in Atlantic City. I will have a lot of friends there supporting me.”
Seldon credits his return to the ring to Rising Promotions, who will be staging their 3rd show in the past six months.
“I would like to thank Rising Promotions, Thomas LaManna and the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame. They are all trying to bring boxing back to Atlantic City the way it used to be. I feel I have an opportunity to become the face of Atlantic City boxing. I have been working very hard and I feel very good. To be headlining for the first time feels really good. Rising Promotions has given me this opportunity to showcase my skills and on Friday, I am going to put on a great performance.”
