RAHMAN JR. READY TO BEGIN HIS OWN HEAVYWEIGHT LEGACY AT SKYLANDS ECC ON THURSDAY, MAART 23
 Having grown up the son of a former undisputed and two-time World Heavyweight Champion, Hasim Rahman Jr., doesn’t mind that the world will be watching from the beginning of his professional boxing career.
“This isn’t new,” explained Rahman. “I’m so used to being who I am and having eyes on me that it would be awkward to not have them. It hasn’t mattered who I was my whole life, or what I did. The world was watching because of who my father is.”
Rahman Jr., wiens vader, Hasim “De Steen” Rahman famously knocked out Lennox Lewis in April 2001 to win the WBC and IBF Heavyweight Championships, will make his professional debut against Kansas City’s Brian Imes (1-4, 1 KO) op Donderdag, Maart 23, 2017, at Greg Cohen Promotions’ SUPER BRAWL® III, boxing event at the Skylands Event & Conference Center (ECC) in Randolph, New Jersey.

“My dad is like an advisor,” hij ging verder. “My dad is the only person I know that truly has my best interests at heart. I know he knows the game and I know that with him on my team, the sky is the limit.”
25-year-old Rahman is getting a later-than-expected start at his highly-anticipated boxing career. Coming off his successful 100-fight run as an amateur, the buzz was all around the 6′ 3″ 250-pond. vechter, but a fatal car accident in 2012 saw him serving a 2- to 5-year sentence with the Department of Corrections.
Recently released and now ready to go on with life, Rahman says the entire experience changed him for the good. “It was an eye-opener for me. Going through that really changed my career and how I felt as a person, and a son, een vader, and a husband. It changed me. I am grateful god blessed me to be in this position today.”
Rahman says he doesn’t know much about first opponent Imes, but he and trainer Kenny Ellis are hard at work at Upton Boxing Center in Baltimore.
“Ik voel me geweldig. I’m really anxious, but the nervousness hasn’t kicked in. It will around fight time. My team says it’s a good fight for me. Being off for two and a half years, I’m looking to get in some rounds.”
Despite the delayed start, Team Rahman has no plan on rushing things.
“I just want to stay busy as I can and learn as much as I can and fight for a world title when I’m ready. I’m not going to rush. Er is geen haast. It’s not like I’m going to wait forever. I will fight for the title when I’m ready and I know if it put in the work, I’ll be ready in a about two years. That’s the goal for me. If it takes three or four years, it does. Whatever the case may be. I’ll keep racking up the knockouts until it happens.”
For Rahman, the decision to follow in his famous father’s footsteps was a rational one.
“I’ve always been taught to plan ahead. When I was in middle school, I was really into football. I played tight end, running back and wide receiver. I had dreams. But it dawned on me how many people have the same dream that I do. For instance, there are a million young African American men wanting to go to the NBA every year. 400,000 of them will play high school basketball. 4000 of those will play college. 35 will be drafted. Out of the that 35, alleen 7 will start. That means there are a million people trying to get 7 banen. And the average career in the NBA is four years. That’s a problem. People have to look at their odds. I did. Zo, I said ‘know what? Instead of being in this giant pool of people trying to be the next Ray Lewis. I rarely run across someone who wants to be heavyweight champion of the world,’ so that’s what I decided to do. No father and son duo have ever become heavyweight champions. It’s never been done. For me to be in the position to cement our family name in heavyweight championship history is very motivating and I’m ready to take full advantage of it.”
Signing with Greg Cohen Promotions was an easy decision, according to Rahman, who has known the Jersey-based promoter for most of his life.
“I really want to thank Greg Cohen for the chance he’s given me,” he said. “I’ve known Greg since I was a kid and he has always believed in me. He has always supported me and kept in contact and followed me. He has a real genuine interest in me. Greg already knows he has the best new heavyweight in the world. I’m really dedicated to making him and my father and the City of Baltimore proud.”

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Juli 20, 2016)–Deze vrijdag nacht bij de Claridge in Atlantic City, weltergewicht, Thomas ” Cornflake” LaManna zal op zich te nemen Engleberto Valenzuela in a six-round bout in a card promoted by Rising Promotions.

“Valenzuela is a guy from Mexico, who will come to fight. I will try to invest in body work early and see where that goes,” said Lamanna.
LaManna stepped up his training as he started his camp out west and worked with a high class of fighters in an effort to up his skill level.
“Everything went well in camp. I started out in Las Vegas and worked with 2012 Olympic Gold medal winner Ryota Murata. Originally I was not going to fight because of the fight in September, But I was feeling good, so we are ready to put on a great performance.”
This is the fourth fight card for Rising Promotions at The Claridge. The Promotional company headed by Thomas and his mother Debbie. Putting on a show where LaManna is promoting is a daunting task as he must find time to take care of all aspects in putting a show together, but also train properly for a high-class professional boxing match.
“At times it is difficult to train and work on the promotional aspects of the show. But I am intelligent enough to oversee that everyone is doing their job. We have had three shows and I have fought on two of them, and everything has gone well for us and me in the ring as well. If there is a problem, I fix it, but I am a fighter first. The training is most important. That get’s taken care of first, and then I take care of the promotional end of things.”

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Juli 19, 2016)–Deze vrijdag nacht in het Claridge in Atlantic City, weltergewicht, Anthony “Sap” Young will be in the headlining bout for the first time, and he gets to do it in front of his hometown fans as he takes on Eduardo Flores in six-round bout in a card promoted by Rising Promotions.
De 28 year-old former college football player will look for his 2nd straight win and in the process look to put on a dominant performance against a man who has more than three-times the amount of fights then the Atlantic City native.
“Camp has gone well. I have been sparring with a fighters such as Anthony Burgin, Tevin Farmer, Thomas LaManna and Arturo Padilla,” zei Young.
In Flores, he is facing a guy who has faced a litany of prospects and contenders and is by far the most experienced foe that Young has faced.
“I know he is a veteran and has been stopped five times in 47 gevechten. I know he is coming to fight and I hope to execute the game plan and then I can be the 6th guy to stop him.”
This will be Young’s 7th fight on the boardwalk and fourth in a row, yet unlike some fighters who do not like fighting at home due to outside demands for tickets, Young embraces the opportunity to perform in front of familiar faces.
“It is always a big deal to fight in front of the home crowd. I feed off of them and it urges me on to put on a great performance. Even though this is my first headliner, I always feel like I am the headliner no matter where I fight, but especially here.”
Young knows that a few good wins can put him in position to get in line for a great opportunity, but he is not looking past Flores.
“I plan on getting the win op vrijdag. I am taking this one fight at a time. I am looking to get back in the ring in September and hopefully fight for a regional title next year. I just want everyone to come out op vrijdag and put on a spectacular performance.”

Young of Atlantic City has a record of 12-2 with five knockouts will be looking for his second consecutive victory.
De 28 year-old won his first ten bouts that was highlighted by a victory over Jose Javier Calderon (4-1).
This will be Young’s 6th (and 4th consecutive) fight in his hometown.
He is coming off a 6-round unanimous decision victory over Juan Rodriguez on April 29.
Vasquez of Managua, Nicaragua has a record of 12-14-2 met acht knockouts.
Vasquez, 29 jaar oud draaide professioneel in 2005 en vocht zijn eerste 11 gevechten in zijn geboorteland Nicaragua. ATLANTIC CITY (December 11, 2015)–Afgelopen zaterdag nacht, Thomas LaManna maakte een succesvolle reis naar het weltergewicht divisie door het hameren op een 8-round unaniem besluit over Ariel Vasquez aan de Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.
De kaart werd gepresenteerd in de voorkant van een enthousiaste menigte bij de de bijna-uitverkochte Claridge, dat een in-Arena gastheer aanbevolen en geleverd giveaways om de menigte de hele avond.
Rising Star Promotions strijd kaarten streven meer fan vriendelijke en interactief en in en uit de ring te zijn.

LaManna gebruikt een divers arsenaal aan stoten als aanbevolen lichaamswerk, jabs en een goede rechte kant op verschillende punten van de strijd. LaManna toonde grit als Vasquez was spel door af en toe stiekem in een rechte links dat hoe groter LaManna was in staat om te lopen. De enige smet voor LaManna was dat hij een punt voor lage slagen werd in mindering gebracht in de vierde ronde, maar hij was in staat om door scores van 79-72 tweemaal en 78-73. LaManna, 148 lbs van Millville, NJ is 19-1. Vasquez, 144 lbs van Managua, Nicaragua 12-12-2.
In de 6-round Zwaargewicht co-functie, Willis Lockett was in staat om een 6-ronde unaniem besluit winnen over John Lennox. Perozo, die nu woont in Queens, New York daalde Steele uit een body-shot en de strijd werd gestopt op 2:11. Perozo was het maken van zijn pro-debuut. Steele van Concord, NC is 0-2. Atlantic City, NJ (December 4, 2015)–DEZE Zaterdag NACHT, 5 december, Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna op zich nemen Ariel Vasquez in the main event of a card that will take place at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.
De kaart wordt bevorderd door Rising Boksen Promotions in samenwerking met Vincent M. Ponte's Golfstroom Promotions.

Atlantic City, NJ (December 1, 2015)–Op Zaterdag nacht, 5 december, Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna op zich nemen Ariel Vasquez in the main event of a card that will take place at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.
De kaart wordt bevorderd door Rising Boksen Promotions in samenwerking met Vincent M. Ponte's Golfstroom Promotions.
De strijd kaart zal ook in combinatie met Ray McCline van de Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame. LaManna (18-1, 7 KO's) van de nabijgelegen Millville, New Jersey & Vasquez (12-11-2, 8 KO's) van Managua, Nicaragua zal deelnemen aan een 8-round weltergewicht bout.
Vasquez komt uit een meerderheidsbesluit nederlaag tegen ongeslagen Thomas Mattice op 25 november in Erie, PA. Dit zal de eerste reis in de 147-pond divisie voor de 6'2″ LaManna. He spent his career at Middleweight and Jr. Middengewicht.
” Ik weet niet veel over andere Vasquez dan hij is een linkshandige. Ik ben in goede vorm en klaar voor de taak bij de hand zal zijn,” zei LaManna.
“Ik voel me goed op het gewicht. Ik heb geen probleem behoud van een behoorlijk gewicht dus het was niet zo moeilijk om het te maken had. De weltergewicht divisie is wijd open en ik zie kansen komen in de nabije toekomst.”

LaManna trainer, Raul “Chino” Rivas has had success moving fighter’s to their proper weight class and he feels LaManna will benefit greatly fighting at Welterweight.
“Dit zal zijn eerste gevecht op zijn 147 pond”, Said Rivas. “Camp is uitstekend en hij is in grote vorm. I believe he has been fighting out of his weight class. He is not a 154 stamper, laat staan een 160 pond vechter. He is a Welterweight and people will see his knockout ratio improve.”
“Thomas zal scherp voor deze strijd te zijn. He is still a young fighter and by next year, u zult zijn kracht volwassen te zien in zijn weltergewicht kader,” afgewerkte Rivas.

Vasquez, 28 jaar oud draaide professioneel in 2005 en vocht zijn eerste 11 gevechten in zijn geboorteland Nicaragua. He twice fought Juan Antonio Rodriguez for the WBC Youth Featherweight title and held undefeated Eliezer Landas (10-0) om een gelijkspel in een gevecht voor de WBA Fedecentro Super bantamgewicht titel.
Hij heeft vijf ongeslagen strijders, waaronder zijn laatste drie geconfronteerd.
