New M-1 Challenge Lightweight Champion Damir Ismagulov

ORENBURG, Rusland (Maj 27, 2017) – A new M-1 Challenge lightweight champion was crowned last night as Damir Ismagulov knocked out former champion Maxim Divnich at the end of the fifth and final championship round in the M-1 Challenge 78 main event at Orenburg, Rusland.
M-1 Challenge 78 was a true international event with fighters representing eight different countries: Rusland, Brasilien, Hviderusland, U.S.A, UK, Sverige, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan.
Ismagulov (11-2-0, M-1: 7-1-0), fighting out of Russia by way of Kazakhstan, fought Divnich (13-3-0, M-1: 7-3-0) hjemme, i Orenburg, for the vacant M-1 Challenge lightweight title, where Divnich had lost his title belt in 2015.
The title fight commenced with a “følelse-ud-processen” af simple udvekslinger af slag med Ismagulov arbejder mere med fødderne, and the round ended with the hometown favorite holding a slight advantage.

Russisk bantamvægt Vadim “Bad Santa” Malygin (9-2-1, M-1: 2-1-1) won a three-round unanimous decision over veteran Brazilian fighter, Fabricio “Bill” Sarraff (23-10-0, M-1: 0-2-0).

ST. PETERSBURG, Rusland (Januar 19, 2017) – M-1 Global has announced that 2016 M-1 Grand Prix mellemvægt mester Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko vilje overskrift M-1 Challenge 75 i Moskva.
It has also been announced that American lightweight Keon “The Black Assassin” Caldwell will make his M-1 Global debut versus former M-1 Challenge lightweight champion Maxim Divnich.

Shlemenko (54-9-0. 1 NC, M-1: 4-0-0), a three-time Bellator champion, besejrede den tidligere M-1 Challenge mester Vyacheslav Vasilevsky (see picture above with Shlemenko on right) sidste år i M-1 Grand Prix mellemvægt Championship semifinalen og mesterskabet endelig, henholdsvis, ved tre-runde flertalsbeslutning og tredje-runde indsendelse (choker). In a much-anticipated All-Russian middleweight showdown, Shlemenko was supposed to fight reigning M-1 Challenge middleweight champion Ramadan Emeev, who was unfortunately injured during training camp, forcing him out of that match. Vasilevsky replaced Emeev against Shlemenko in the championship final.

“Ramazan was injured and Shlemenko had contractual obligations with Bellator. Så, throughout the past month, we were waiting for Shlemenko to receive permission to fight in Russia. Nu, we have arranged for him to fight on M-1 Challenge 75. We’ve done a great job to make this possible and now hope that, denne gang, we will be able to complete this exciting story.”

A powerful puncher who has nine knockouts in his 11 pro victories, Caldwell was supposed to compete in the 13th season of The Ultimate Fighter, but he withdrew due to personal reasons. He has had several fights in World Series of Fighting.
A Ukrainian fighting out of Moscow, Divnich captured the vacant M-1 Challenge lightweight title in 2014 på M-1 Challenge 54, standsning Dzhambulat Kurbanov in the third round on punches in the Fight of the Night. I 2015, Divnich lost his first title defense by third-round knockout to Mansour Barnaoui på M-1 Challenge 57. I sin sidste kamp, Artiom Damkovsky knocked out Divnich with a kick in the second-round of their fight this past September at M-1 Challenge 70.

Memphis (Oktober. 21, 2016) – The most decorated middleweight in Bellator history, Alexander Shlemenko (54-9, 1NC) returned to the cagei aften in a big way against Kendall Grove (23-16). The first round saw aggressive back and forth action with each fighter getting rocked. Shlemenko successfully utilized powerful spinning backfists and heelkicks to close the distance on the 6’6 Hawaiian. “The Storm” stalked Grove throughout the cage before ultimately connecting with a nasty combo that saw a left hand to the liver, followed by a right hand to the chin, sending his towering opponent to the mat. Shlemenko followed up with a barrage of strikes to “Da Spyda” before “Big John” McCarthy waved the fight off at 1:43 af den anden ramme.

 

 

Lashley sinks in a rear-naked choke to end Appelt’s night in round two

 

Bobby Lashley (15-2) continued to live up to his nickname of “The Dominator” as he tossed his opponent, Josh Appelt (12-6) to the mat at will. Throughout the first round, Lashley jockeyed for position as he rained down punches while trying to lock in a submission in front of his friend from his days as a WWE Superstar, Jerry “The King” Lawler, who watched from his cage side seat. Appelt landed a couple strikes to start the second frame before being slammed to the mat and ultimately submitted with a one-armed rear-naked choke at 1:43 of Round 2.

 

 

 

Yamauchi finishes Couture with armbar submission just one minute into bout

The 23-year-old submission specialist Yamauchi op (20-3) besejret Ryan Couture (10-5) via arm bar submission just 1:01 ind i åbningen runde. Making his lightweight debut, Yamauchi becomes the first opponent to submit Couture over his 15-fight career. The win gives the Brazilian-Japanese prospect 20 total over his career, including five since joining the Scott Coker-led promotion back in 2013. Kato scores TKO victory over Matthews

 

The first televised fight of the evening featured two highly gifted strikers in A.J. Matthews (8-6), a muay-Thai practitioner and Hisaki Kato(7-2), who holds a black belt in Kyokushin Karate. Both fighters exchanged great combinations throughout the entirety of the first round, with Matthews even wobbling Kato halfway through the frame. but was unable to capitalize, allowing Kato to regain his composure. A break in the action because of an accidental eye poke to Matthews allowed Kato to completely recover, and when the fight continued, Kato utilized his right kick to the body-left hand to the dome combination to send Matthews to the canvas, pouncing with a flurry of punches forcing the referee to call a stop to the action at 4:58 af den første ramme.
