Former USA boxers to hold private meet-and-greet at New England Tournament of Champions Open Division Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Lap. (Februari 19, 2018) – USA Boxing will host a private USA Boxing Alumni Association meet-and-greet denna torsdag natt (Februari. 22), prior to that evening’s open division finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 72nd annual New England Golden Gloves Championships, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts.
The Feb. 22nd USA Boxing Alumni Association also being held, delvis, to promote the 2018 USA vs. Irland East Boxing Tour, which kicks-off Måndag, Mars 12, at the newly renovated Royale Entertainment Complex in Boston’s famed theater district. USA vs.. Ireland Northeast Boxing Tour will continue Mars 15 på Massmutual Center i Springfield, Mäss. and concludes Mars 21 at The Manchester Downtown Hotel in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Many of New England’s all-time great amateur boxers will participate, including hometown hero and three-time New England champion, “Irländsk” Micky Ward. Others include Jose Antonio Rivera, John Scully, Richie LaMontagne, Dave Sullivan, Travis och Tarvis Simms, Bobby Harris, Peter Manfredo, Jr., Joe Alloj, Lawrence Clay-Bey och Troy Wortham.
All USA Boxing Alumni Association members, as well as any prospective members, are welcome to attend this unique meet-and-greet, starting when doors open at 6:30 p.m. OCH, until the first bout at 7:30 p.m. OCH.

LOWELL, Mäss. (Februari 16, 2018) – Fourteen novice division champions were crowned at last night’s championship finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 72nd annual New England Golden Gloves Championships, last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Western New England captured top honors in team standings with eight individual winners, followed by Central New England (5), Northern New England (1) and Southern New England (0).
East Walpole bantamweight Noelle Boran was named Most Outstanding Boxer.
The action shifts next week, Onsdag och Torsdag evenings, respektive, to the semifinals and finals of the New England Tournament of Champions at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. See the complete 2018 schema över händelser nedan samt gårdagens fullständiga resultat.
“It was very difficult to select the Most Outstanding Boxer because there were five who could have won,” N. Och. Executive Director Bobby Russo sa. Noelle won but Nelson Perez, Shane Jordan, Kate Zahr och Jessie Batanda were all in the running. We had some great bouts and surprisingly good talent for the novice division.
“I’m really looking forward to next week’s All-New England open division semifinals and championship finals. People should buy tickets in advance, so they don’t get caught in long lines and miss some early bouts. We’re expecting large crowds both night.”

LOWELL, Mäss. (Februari 9, 2018) – Western New England and Central New England teams dominated last night’s semifinals round in the novice division of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 72nd annual New England Golden Gloves Championships, was held last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Western and Team Central won five and four individual matches, respektive, av 10 exciting bouts with the 10 winners advance to this coming Thursday’s (Februari. 15) novice division championship final at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. “Nu, we’re down to the final two novice boxers in each weight class from the six New England states,” N. Och. Executive Director Bobby Russo sa. “It’s always interesting to see the cream rise to the top. LOWELL, Mäss. (Januari 26, 2018) – The 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships continued last night in front of a jacked-up crowd at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium, featuring later round Central New England (Större Lowell) novice and open class matches.

Novice semifinals and championship finals, as well as some open semifinals and championship final, were held last night. USA Boxing främsta. 7-rated light heavyweight Miguel Teo (Marlboro, MA) captured the Central New England (CNE) open division championship, stoppa John Xifafas. of Nashua, N.H., i den tredje omgången. CNE novice division champions crowned last night include East Walpole (MA) flyweight Noelle Boran and Chelsea (MA) mellanvikt Jordy Artica
“We had another good crowd of great Lowell fans on a very cold night,” N. Och. Executive Director Bobby Russo sa. “The Vegas-Gigliotti match was interesting and the Fight of the Night. It got very rough at times. Vegas dominated for the most part but Gigliotti showed super toughness. He took some shots but kept coming back.”

Centrala N.E.. semifinals round action
this Thursday night at Lowell Auditorium
LOWELL, Mäss. (Januari 20, 2018) – The 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships continued last night with Central New England (Större Lowell) novice and open class action at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Novice quarterfinals and semifinals matches were held last night, as well as preliminary bouts in the open division. The female championship bout in the middleweight class was also held last night, in which Amesbury’s (MA) Jessica McFadden edged Brookline’s Samantha Surface, 3-2.
The Fight of the Night was an open-class welterweight showdown between Salem’s (MA) Charlie Espinal and Amesbury’s Kenny Lawson, which Espinal won by a score of 5-0.
“It was a good night,” New England Golden Gloves verkställande direktör Bobby Russo sa. “Good weather helped draw a big crowd, the largest of the season so far. There were a lot of good matches, some open division to go along with the novices. The Espinal-Larson match was the best of the night, a war from start to finish. It was the type fight you didn’t want either fighter to lose. Espinal had a little better boxing and experience that carried him to victory.”

LOWELL, Mäss. (Januari 13, 2018) – The Central New England (Större Lowell) second-round of the 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships concluded last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium with that featured 13 exciting men’s and women’s novice class matches.
The quarterfinals are on tap nästa fredag natt (Jan. 19) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with novice and open class matches. See the complete 2018 schema över händelser nedan samt gårdagens fullständiga resultat.
“The first bout (Rodriguez vs. Picariello) of the night was awesome, one of the best I’ve seen in years,” Tournament Executive Director Bobby Russo sa. “It was a lesson to be learned for fans: don’t come late! One of the great things about amateur boxing is you never know what the fight of the night will be and last night it was the first. Rodriguez showed a good skill level, especially for a novice, and Picariello had tremendous determination. He kept coming and they both threw a lot of punches. It was a great way to start the show.”

LOWELL, Mäss. (Januari 6, 2018) – The 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships kicked-off last night in front of an enthusiastic crowd, despite traveling in sub-zero temperature, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium with Central New England (Större Lowell) preliminary-round action that featured 13 exciting men’s and women’s novice class matches.
The preliminary round will conclude nästa fredag natt (Jan. 12) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with novice and open class matches. See the complete 2018 schema över händelser nedan samt gårdagens fullständiga resultat.
“I was very happy with last night’s turnover,” Tournament Executive Director Bobby Russo sa, “especially considering the wicked cold. “It’s a testament to the great fans in the Lowell area who are diehard supporters.”

2017 National Golden Gloves champion Poindexter Knight, Jr. wins his Pro debut

New York (December, 11, 2017)–On December 1st, welterweight prospect Poindexter Knight, Jr. won his anticipated professional debut when he stopped Samuel Forjoe in the first round of their scheduled four-round bout at The Strand Ballroom and Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.
Den 2017 National Golden Gloves champion out of Philadelphia landed a hard combination the corner that had Forjoe bending over, and the bout was stopped in just 63 sekunder.
Knight is the latest top-prospect to debut for Split-T Management, and he is promoted by Evander Holyfield’s Sports and Entertainment.
“Everything went well, I was excited and nervous, but I got through it,”sa riddaren.
“I thought my opponent would have a little more for me, but I did what I had to do in there and I got him out of there. It was great to get the knockout in my pro debut,” continued Knight.
Knight is eager to get his next victory, and he is looking to do in front of his hometown fans.
“I am hoping to fight in front of my hometown fans in 2018. That would be a goal for the upcoming year. I can’t wait as I am coming strong in 2018.”
Knight is trained by his father Poindexter Knight, Sr, and the elder Knight was happy with his son’s performance.
“Poindexter looked relaxed, and it looked like it was his 10th fight. I am happy to be with Split-T Management. They gave us a chance when no one else did. We wanted to turn pro for a while and a lot of managers made a lot of broken promises. I put Poindexter back in the Golden Gloves, and he won, which opened a lot of doors,” Said Poindexter Knight, Sr.
“Like my son said, I would like to see him get at least five fights for 2018. That will keep him sharp, and he will continue to learn. We had a great 1st fight, and we will continue to work hard and get better with each fight.”
Said David McWater, CEO of Split-T management, “I’m truly excited about Poindexter Knight’s future – he has the skill and more importantly the drive to be one of the very best.”
