Irish amateur heavyweight champion Con Sheehan To make pro debut Jan. 19 in L.A.
 CORK, Ierland (Januari 4, 2016) – Six-time Irish National heavyweight champion Met Sheehan will make his long awaited professional debut Januari 19 in een vier-ronde Bout, tegen een tegenstander vast te stellen, at Nokia Club in Los Angeles.
Sheehan is scheduled to be in the swing bout, so there’s a possibility that his first pro fight will air live on the Fox Sports 1 uitzending.
De 6′ 5 ½”, 220-pound Sheehan is athletic, in addition to being a physical specimen, who also captured a gold medal at the European Union Championships.
Possessing tremendous upside, Sheehan decided to enhance his pro boxing career a year ago, moving to Oakland to work with 2011 BWAA Trainer of the Year Virgil Hunter (pictured above with Sheehan). Dividends are already paying off for the young Irishman.
“It’s been eye opening, I suppose, because Virgil is showing me the most simple of things, technically, that I’ve never seen before and it’s making a massive difference to me,” Sheehan said about being trained by Hunter. “My power has increased 10-fold with simple adjustments that I have learned from him. It was a bit of a shock because, I thought I’d cracked the technical side of boxing but he’s taken me to a whole new level.”
 The 26-year-old Sheehan has the advantage of directly learning from one of the most respected and successful trainers in boxing, Jager, whose top fighters include Andre Ward (pictured here with Con), Amir Kahn en Andere Berto.Sheehan is the first Irishman that Hunter has ever trained. “Every coach has his own style and mine is old school from Texas,” Hunter explained. “Mine is slip ‘n slide and my fighters need good reflexes and good legs. Cornelius (Con) isn’t a dancer, but he moves the right way, and I like that a lot. I liked what I saw from the first time we met. He keeps himself in good shape and has a good amateur pedigree. I teach a pro style, even to amateurs, and some like Cornelius are better as pro fighters.
“Cornelius is a strong kid. He’s made mistakes, but earlier in his life, and that’s a good thing. There’s always a transition period and it’ll take him a few years. He’s already proven his dedication by being here. If he keeps on track, fighting and training in the United States, he’ll get there in two-three years. The heavyweight division is changing. This is like the time (Tim)Witherspoon, (Greg) Pagina, (Openhartig) Bruno and a few others would win the world title and then lose it right back, totdat (Mike) Tyson came along and cleaned up the division. I’m particularly happy with his progress the last six weeks; Cornelius is focused on doing it, instead of just doing it.”
Sheehan is managed by Gary Hyde (Nowhere2Hyde Beheer), who guided the career of world super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rogondeaux, as well as two-time world middleweight title challengerHassan N'Dam N'Jikam.
“Con Sheehan has stood out to me as a fighter with incredible boxing skills who, ik wist, would benefit greatly with Virgil Hunter as his trainer,” Hyde added. “After two intensive training camps, we are all satisfied that Con has what it takes to be a major force in the heavyweight division.”

SIZE AND POWER MEET TECHNIQUE IN NEF 21 BOXING MAIN EVENT

Berry is coming off what many consider to be the defining win of his still-young professional career over gritty Mexican veteran Roberto Valenzuela (73-70-2) afgelopen november om “NEF XX.” Despite suffering a bad cut above his eye early in the fight, Berry maintained his composure and looked sharp on his way to a unanimous decision victory in the first eight-round fight of his career. The West Forks, Maine native was a 2013 Northern New England Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. The fight with Lewis is expected to be the last Berry will compete in above his usual 140-pound junior welterweight division.
“It’s great to be getting back in action inside the ring so soon, especially after suffering such a nasty cut over my eye from my last fight in November,” said Berry. “Thank you NEF for putting yet another very tough opponent in front of me. Tollison is a class act in and out of the ring, and I think our styles will make a crowd pleasing bout. I remember being undefeated still and I know how important keeping the ‘0’ on the record is. Tollison is a big, strong athlete and I’m sure he will be more than prepared. Both him and I understand competition, and will most likely be friends after this event. Tollison Lewis’s foray into the boxing world was unplanned. In Oktober 2014, just 24-hours prior to the start of the first “NEF Boxing” evenement, Lewis stepped in to face boxing veteran John Webster (8-7-1) after Webster’s previous opponent fell out. NEF executives, familiar with Lewis’s striking prowess in his MMA bouts, asked Lewis to take the fight at the last minute and Lewis did not hesitate to oblige. He went on to bully Webster for four rounds, (including knocking Webster out of the ring onto the timekeeper’s table), scoring a unanimous decision victory. This past November, in yet another dominant performance in the NEF boxing ring, Lewis stopped Zenon Herrera (0-1) with a third-round TKO. A win over a boxer of Berry’s caliber, geen twijfel, would propel Lewis to the next level in the sport. Lewis is a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) in Lewiston where he trains under boxing coach Scott Frost.

Melson Nominated for Most Inspirational of 2015!
New York, NY (December 29, 2015) – Junior middleweight boxer and philanthropist Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson has been nominated for Most Inspirational by Ring Magazine.
Having dedicated most of his life during the last 13 years to help cure Chronic Spinal Cord Injuries, Melson’s selfless efforts have been chronicled by various media outlets. Boxing historian and expert ring analyst Steve Farhood has called every fight on ShoBox since it premiered in 2001. He anticipates another year of excellent, competitive matchups in 2016.

Brant, Perez and Miller will be making their second consecutive appearances on ShoBox. Brant and Miller were victorious last Oktober. 23, Perez last Augustus. 28. Robinson will also be making his second ShoBox start; the four other boxers will be making their debuts.
“Both Brant and Perez won their most recent appearances on ShoBoxand both were impressive,'' Farhood zei. “Brant took a big step up and outpointed Louis Rose in October and Perez pulled off the upset over the previously unbeaten Juan Ubaldo Cabrera in augustus. So it makes all the sense in the world to match them against each other. On Jan. 22, we’re going to find out just how hot Rob Brant is.’’
Twenty-six-year-old Brant will be headlining his second consecutiveShoBox. In his first, he captured a hard-fought 10-round majority decision over Rose. Going 10 rondes voor de eerste keer, Brant triumphed in an entertaining tight fight.

Perez, who hails from a fighting family, has won four straight and nine of his last 10. He scored a surprising, van streek, a 10-round unanimous decision over Cabrera (23-0 naar binnen) tijdens zijn laatste uitje. Besides being a hard hitter, Miller has good overall skills and movement for a big man whose weight fluctuates from fight to fight. He’s won his last four by knockout, all inside three rounds.

Dennis, 28, was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. Before turning pro in June 2010, he was a top-level amateur: 11-time Iowa State Champion, 2011 National Golden Gloves runner-up in and 2012 De. S. Olympic Games Trials contestant.
The 6-foot-4 Dennis possesses good skills, movement and punching power to go with his strong amateur background. His weakness is durability; he’s been knocked out in all of his losses.
“I’m ready to fight,’’ Dennis said. “I’ve been training really hard and I am looking forward to the fight. I just want to get this win and move on as I will have a big year in 2016.’’
Dela Torre, considered one of the top young talents in the Philippines, will be fighting outside of Asia for the first time. A big puncher and winner of seven straight by knockout, de 5-mond-8, 21-year-old is coming off athird-round TKO over Ricard Betos laatste November. 14.
“It’s every boxer’s dream to fight on big cards in United States. This is the next step in my pathway to becoming world champion,’’ Dela Torre said. “I can’t wait. This is an opportunity I will take advantage of and show everyone I’m ready to step up. I let my team concentrate on my opponents and pass me instructions. I just know I’ll be ready and able to stop any opponent.’’
Before turning professional at 17, Dela Torre was a top member on the Philippine National Amateur Boxing Team. As a pro, he has made a “name” for himself after an impressive victory over Jason Butar-Butar on the undercard of a Manny Pacquiao-headlined fight in November 2013.

Yeyubov, 29, who could be on the fast track to stardom, is regarded by many to be the second-hardest Kazakh hitter in boxing, ranked only behind Gennady Golovkin. Since his days as an amateur when he won more than 150 gevechten, a vast majority by knockout, Eyubov has lived up to his reputation as a fearsome banger who looks to remove the judges from the equation.
He’s overwhelmed his first nine opponents as a pro, winning six by knockout in the first round and two by knockout in the second. The furthest he’s gone in a fight came in his second start when he scored a third-round TKO (2:57) over Jhaquis Davis. In his last outing on Oktober. 29, Hij scoorde een 1:27, eerste ronde TKO over Antonio Chaves Fernandes in Brooklyn.
Robinson, a pro since August 2009, fights out of Charlotte, N.C. A veteran of several scheduled 10-round fights, he’s undeniably the most experienced boxer Eyubov’s ever faced.
