Baltimore Boxing to honor late Scott Wagner March 22

Baltimore, MD (Mars 12, 2018) – Jake Smith’s Baltimore Boxing Promotions returns to Michael’s Eighth Avenue Mars 22 for a special tribute event to the late Scott Wagner.
Prior to Smith hosting his cards at Michael’s Eighth, Scott Wagner’s Ballroom Boxing ran more than 70 successful shows over a 15 year period. His series was a major hit and he featured many fighters that went onto become world champions such as Terence Crawford, Hasim Rahman |, Kermit Cintron, Orlin Norris and Al Cole. A longtime friend of Smith, Wagner stopped promoting in 2009 and graciously offered the family-owned Michael’s Eighth to Baltimore Boxing Promotions.
Sur Février 16, Wagner passed away at age 49.
“Scott was one of my closest friends and I was devastated by his untimely passing,», A déclaré Smith, who co-promoted with Wagner and also fought for him in 1996. “He ran one of the most successful promotions for more than a decade and did right by the fighters.
Scott Wagner the person was even better than the promoter. He always helped other people and his experience assisted me in expanding Baltimore Boxing Promotions. I am forever thankful and will always have a place in my heart for Scott Wagner.”
Headlining this Olympic style boxing event is a grudge match between Deshawn “Soulsnatcher” Chase and Ocean City, MD’s Omar Serrano for the East Coast Middleweight title. One of Baltimore Boxing’s top prospects, Chase looks for redemption against the only man to defeat him.

Along with honoring Wagner, Baltimore Boxing is hosting a fundraiser for Brenda Davis. The wife of legendary trainer Adrian Davis, Brenda’s battled health complications that have severely impacted her. All proceeds from the fundraiser will help cover Davis’ healthcare costs.

“It was an awesome performance,” said the International Boxing Hall of Famer and noted boxing historian Farhood. “I was surprised he finished Indongo as quickly as he did and as emphatically as he did.

 

 

 

 

 

“I think now boxing fans know that this guy deserves to be rated among the top three or four in the 140-pound division. Fa, who made his SHOWTIME debut in November with a first-round knockout of Freddy Latham, was unhappy with his performance despite the win.

 

 

 

 

“I’m happy I was able to get the decision, but I wasn’t happy with my performance at all,” said Fa. “If I had to give myself a grade, it would be an F. I fought with too much emotion the first few rounds and that threw me off a little bit.

 

 

 

 

“I was pretty surprised with the one judge who saw it even. I saw him getting tired but I was just flat tonight. I can learn a lot from this fight and where I went wrong and what not to do in my next fight.”

 

 

 

 

Lewis felt that taking the fight on short notice played a role in the outcome.

 

 

 

 

“I needed a little more time to train as my conditioning fell off a bit towards the end,” said the former National Golden Gloves gold medalist Lewis. “But overall, I was happy with my performance, I thought it was probably a draw.”

WICHITA, Kansas (Mars 31, 2017) – Samedi dernier soir au Kansas Star Arena à Mulvane, à proximité, 2016 médaillé de bronze olympique Nico Hernandez a planté une graine dans l'espoir de faire de Wichita une ville de combat, en tant que champions du monde Terence Crawford et Deontay Wilder ont déjà accompli dans leurs villes d'origine, Omaha (NE) et Birmingham (Alabama).
Plus que 3,100 les fans ont acheté des billets Hernandez’ début professionnel réussi, arrêt Pat Gutierrez dans le quatrième tour. The encore presentation of last Saturday’s “KO Night Boxing: L'histoire commence,” featuring the pro debut of 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist Nico Hernandez, sera diffusé ce samedi (Avril 1), à partir de 8:30 p.m. ET, sur le réseau CBS Sports.
“The show was a huge success and Nico, as a pro fighter, produced a more complete body of work than we had expected,” Hernandez’ organisateur John Andersen (KO Night Boxing) dit. “I was very impressed. Kansas à vie Sean Wheelock, un membre non rémunéré de la Kansas Athletic Commission qui supervise la boxe, en plus d'appeler les combats de samedi dernier en tant que membre de l'équipe d'annonce de KO Night Boxing sur CBS Sports Network, a une perspective unique sur l’importance de la soirée de samedi dernier en termes d’histoire de la boxe locale.
“C'était énorme pour la boxe du Kansas,” Wheelock expliqué, “le plus grand spectacle dans cet état depuis le Tommy Morrison Ère (du début au milieu des années 1990). Morrison était un fils adoptif, bien que. Nico est né ici et il a un investissement profond dans la communauté Wichita. Dessiner plus de 3000 pour ses débuts professionnels, dans un marché hors boxe, était phénoménal et il a le potentiel de faire ce que Crawford a fait à Omaha et Wilder à Birmingham. La boxe a de fortes racines au Kansas et dans le Midwest, mais MMA a pris le relais et dernièrement, la plupart de la boxe au Kansas a été sur des émissions hybrides avec MMA et kickboxing.
“Les fans chantaient fort, 'Nico’ et «316’ (Indicatif régional de Wichita) avant, pendant et après son combat. Je n’ai jamais entendu de fans chanter pour une ville comme ils l’ont fait, «Wichita», pour un athlète individuel. Et ils scandaient aussi «USA». En tant que natif du Kansas, Je suis fier que cet État soit devenu plus diversifié sur les plans ethnique et culturel, avec plus d’hispaniques vivant à Wichita. Nico est engagé dans la communauté hispanique et c'est un enfant fantastique, trop. En raison de sa personnalité et de son style de combat, il peut dessiner localement de Wichita, dans tout le Kansas, et au niveau national parmi les Hispaniques et les Américains à travers le pays en raison de son accomplissement aux Jeux olympiques.”
Hernandez se bat également dans l'une des divisions les plus chaudes de la boxe — 115-poids coq junior livre / super poids mouche — mettant en vedette des combattants de nom tels que Naoya Inoue, Roman Gonzalez, Carlos Blocks, Juan Francisco Estrada et ajout récent Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Visiblement absent, cependant, sont top 20 a classé les combattants américains dans cette catégorie de poids, hors 36 ans Brian Viloria, le quatre fois, deux divisions (poids mouche junior et poids mouche) champion du monde. L'opportunité est là pour Hernandez de s'imposer rapidement comme le boxeur américain par excellence dans cette catégorie de poids.
“Il n'y a aucune raison pour que Nico se batte en dehors de Wichita pendant quelques années alors qu'il se développe,” Andersen a noté. “Je sens qu'il peut remporter un titre régional l'année prochaine. Notre objectif est de l'avoir dans une position de combat pour le titre mondial d'ici trois ans. Notre objectif est de le faire 13 à 15 se bat puis promeut un super combat à Wichita. Il a commencé dans un combat en six rounds. Je pense qu'il n'en aura que quelques autres, puis passer à huit combats.
“Nico ne perd pas beaucoup de coups, le nombre de parties programmées ne sera donc pas un problème pour lui. Un autre combattant se serait frappé en deux rounds, se battre à la maison devant un chanteur comme s'il l'avait soutenu, mais Nico a montré un équilibre formidable, s'installer et assembler très bien ses coups. Il n'a pas poursuivi Gutierrez, il a effectivement coupé la bague, et sa puissante attaque corporelle était quelque chose qu'il ne faisait pas en amateur. Nous voulions voir comment il réagissait à la résistance et il a réussi ce test avec brio.”
Andersen a noté que son entreprise avait promu plusieurs émissions à succès, notant que la grande différence est que l'émission du week-end dernier mettait en vedette un combattant de classe mondiale à Hernandez. “Faire les Jeux olympiques était un gros problème pour Nico,” Andersen a ajouté, “s'il a médaillé ou non. Nico est pour nous ce Manny Pacquiao est au premier rang, «Canelo’ Alvarez à Golden Boy. Nous avons la chance de commencer avec un combattant comme Nico. Se battre à Wichita était un risque pour tout le monde, mais ça rapporte déjà des dividendes.
“Nous savons qui et ce que nous sommes en tant qu'entreprise promotionnelle. Nico est notre priorité absolue, notre seul combattant en ce moment, et nous avons maintenant une excellente occasion de tirer parti du succès du week-end dernier. Nous accordons à Nico toute l’attention qu’il mérite et il va profiter de cette situation. Et nous avons également découvert qu'il y avait d'autres boxeurs talentueux sur ce marché. Whit Hayden a fait un travail formidable en faisant des combats très compétitifs. C’est son histoire, il n'a jamais d'éruptions. Whit est l'une des personnes les plus compétentes que je connaisse en boxe. C'est le parfait entremetteur pour guider la carrière de Nico, avec le père de Nico (entraîneur en chef) Lewis Hernandez, avec qui nous travaillons en étroite collaboration à bien des égards, dans et hors du ring.”

Aujourd'hui à l'aéroport Luis Munoz Marin en Caroline, Puerto Rico, Candidat au titre mondial portoricain, Thomas Dulorme ( 22-1, 14 KOs ) aux côtés de son équipe, se dirige vers Arlington, Texas pour le plus gros combat du calendrier de carrière de Dulorme pour cela Samedi, Avril 18 contre Terence Crawford ( 25-0, 17 KOs ) du Nebraska, pour le titre vacant WBO World super léger.
Le combat sera diffusé en direct sur HBO dans le cadre de sa série «HBO Boxing After Dark», qui commence à partir de 9:45 h (EST) au Collège Park Center, situé à l'Université du Texas à Arlington.
“Je suis juste deux livres au-dessus de la limite de poids. Il s'agit d'atteindre le Texas et de poursuivre le plan de travail pour la lutte,” dit Thomas Dulorme qui a continué, “Je ne laisserai pas tomber mon peuple de Porto Rico et les Latinos”.
