La défaite de 24 ans de Wichita, Kansas a couronné une carrière amateur impressionnante au 2016 Jeux Olympiques quand il a vaincu les combattants de l'Italie, La Russie et de l'Equateur pour décrocher sa médaille de bronze lumière poids mouche. Olympic Medal Winner Nico Hernandez Dominates Mexico’s Victor Trejo Garcia in UFC Fight Pass Main Event from Mulvane, Kansas

Fighting in the main event of a special two-hour live stream on UFC Fight Pass and in front of an adoring crowd of fans at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, Kansas, hometown favorite and US Olympic bronze medal winner Nico Hernandez (7-0, 4 KOs) won his eight-round flyweight showdown by unanimous decision over a determined but out-gunned Victor Trejo Garcia of Mexico City, Mexique (16-10-1, 8 KOs).


It was a good “learning” fight for Hernandez, as Garcia never threatened to win, but hung tough against the superior firepower to keep things entertaining throughout. J'ai hâte de monter sur le ring!

 

Vous vous êtes battu en poids super moyen 168 et récemment au poids moyen 160 livres. Comment est votre formation, régime et tout autre effort différent à faire 160?

 

 

 

La formation est toujours difficile et j'apprends constamment. J'ai eu un régime complètement différent ce camp - un vrai changement et un positif pour moi. Je me suis associé à Perfecting Athletes pour mes repas quotidiens, et je me sens bien. J'ai toujours essayé de manger sainement, mais ces gens sont des pros et sont plus éduqués dans ce domaine que moi. J'ai cette boisson magique qui fait sourire mon estomac - je l'adore! C’est de la pastèque mélangée à un légume vert. Je ne vais pas vous dire de quel légume il s'agit, mais je l'ai bu tous les jours, et je me sens bien.

 

Votre nombre de vues a été très élevé. Pourquoi pensez-vous que les gens sont attirés par vous?

 

 

 

Je crois que les gens sont attirés par ma sincérité et mon honnêteté, à la fois dans et hors de l'anneau. Je dis ce que je veux dire et je pense ce que je dis. Je suis dur mais j'ai aussi un côté doux. Et je pense que les gens sont attirés par la façon dont je me bats — non seulement je parle d'un bon jeu mais je combat mon a– éteint aussi! je donne 1000% à chaque fois - je veux changer le jeu et amener une toute nouvelle génération de fans à la boxe féminine et à la boxe en général.

 

Que savez-vous de votre adversaire Hannah Rankin?

 

 

 

Je sais que mon adversaire Rankin est très coriace et déterminé à être champion du monde. J'aime sa conduite, J'aime son coeur. Je sais qu'elle a été sur le ring en tant que partenaire d'entraînement pour de nombreux champions, l'un étant Christina Hammer. Donc Rankin a vu de bons combattants. Mais une chose est sûre - elle n'a jamais vu un combattant comme moi. Et puisque Hammer ne pouvait pas se battre à cause de son état de santé, à bien des égards, la meilleure chose à faire est de se battre et de battre son partenaire d'entraînement et de laisser Rankin dire à Hammer ce qu'elle veut faire à son retour!

 

Que faut-il faire pour résoudre la crise de l'eau à Flint?

Je crois que le secret commence par croire en toi, être dédié, travailler dur et toujours s'efforcer d'être meilleur. Je sens que je suis mon plus grand critique quand je m'entraîne et boxe. Il est difficile de regarder un film de mes combats parce que même si je fais 97 tout va bien, je ne supporte pas de voir 3 les choses que je fais mal. Je suis une personne qui s'efforce de tirer pleinement parti de mon potentiel. Il faut du courage pour être génial. Rien ne m'empêchera d'atteindre mes objectifs, ce qui inclut être le GWOAT et créer l'égalité pour toutes les femmes combattantes en ce qui concerne l'argent, opportunités et couverture que les hommes obtiennent.

MULVANE, Mai. Olympian and hometown favorite Nico Hernandez captured the vacant International Boxing Association (IBA) Americas flyweight title in his fourth professional fight, en tête d'affiche hier soir “KO Night Boxing” Or & Gloire” carte, à Hartman Arena à Park City, Kansas.

Hernandez’ originale adversaire, Hungarian champion Joseph Ajtai (19-9, 12 KOs), never made it to Wichita due to a series of unfortunate circumstances. Ajtai lost one day in Frankfurt, Allemagne, after leaving his passport on the plane he took from Budapest. Once he landed in Chicago mercredi, he was tied up by a visa issue at U.S. Customs. He missed his connecting flight to Wichita and because of snowstorms that grounded numerous flights, including those to Wichita, Ajtai never made it out of O’Hare Airport, stranded there for several days.
The IBA granted a special exception for Hernandez to fight Torres, due to these unforeseen problems, with the agreement that Hernandez would next fight Ajtai for an IBA title.
“It was an electric night,” organisateur John Andersen dit. “Encore une fois, Nico made the proper adjustment that can be credited to his amateur pedigree. Chez les amateurs, opponents often change at the last moment and Nico has overcome many obstacles during his boxing career. We’re going to give Josef another title shot against Nico in April or May. They have unfinished business together!
“I was very pleased with Nico’s performance. It’s the best I’ve seen him. He was unbelievable in every way, on point throughout the fight. We also want to give Torres credit for accepting the fight on such late notice.”
Hernandez came out fast from the start, battering Torres’ body with tremendous combinations, and he never let up. Torres absorbed punishment but remained upright, but IBA referee Steve Smoger halted the action in the fifth round for Torres’ sécurité.
“I’m not leaving this belt,” Hernandez commented at the post fight press conference as he handled his IBA Americas belt. “It’s going everywhere with me. I was looking forward to this fight and I’m ready to continue my success. This is the first (ceinture de titre) of many. I got what I worked hard for. I want to thank my coaches, all the work paid off, and now I have this (ceinture de titre).”

PARK CITY, Kansas (Novembre 27, 2017) – Due to an injury suffered by 2016 médaillé de bronze olympique Nico Hernandez last week at training camp, ce samedi nuit de “KO Night Boxing: Or & Gloire” carte, presented by KO Night Boxing LLC, has been postponed until Février 10, au même endroit, Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas.

The promoter plans to keep the card intact, as much as possible, and he is hopeful that Ajtai is available to challenge Hernandez for the IBA Americas title.
“Injuries are an unfortunate part of boxing, but the good news is that Nico will be 100-percent ready to go February 10e,” organisateur John Andersen dit. “I know that Nico feels that he’s letting everybody down but, à la fin de la journée, all that really counts is his health. He’s a tough kid who has his entire pro career ahead of him.”
“Over the last six months, Nico has become like family to the Hartman Arena staff,” said Hartman Arena Executive Director, Ben Bolander. “We wish the best for him and hope for a speedy recovery, so we can see him back here in February fighting for the title.”

The 21-year-old Hernandez (3-0, 2 KOs), combats de Wichita, was a decorated amateur boxer who compiled a sterling 123-12 record, highlighted by his bronze-medal winning performance at the 2016 Jeux Olympiques au Brésil. Hernandez made his pro debut last March. All his fights have been at home, each has been in the main event, et à la télévision nationale. Ajtai (19-9, 12 KOs) has already had 28 combats professionnels, including a full 10-round distance loss by decision last year at Madison Square Garden in New York City to two-time Olympic gold medalist Shiming Zou, l'ancien World Boxing Organization (WBO) champion poids mouche du monde. I will miss everyone cheering my name like they do at home. I think I’ll be traveling more to fight bigger names to work my way up the ladder until I’m at the top.
“I think the early rounds in this fight (vs. Ajtai) will be a chess match because, from what I’ve seen, he runs a lot. I feel that once I start landing my body shots, he’ll slowdown in the latter rounds. et, like I’ve said, I don’t plan on this fight going the distance.”

“J'ai un plan pour ce combat et je suis sûr qu'il fait aussi bien. Mais, dans le ring, que le plan d'un combattant peut réussir. Ça va être un bon combat, mais je ne peux pas promettre au public que Nico sera le vainqueur.”
