KORG, NY – MARS 18, 2024 – International Boxing Hall of Fame och museum, som firar 35-årsjubileum i 2024, är glada att kunna meddela att Hall of Famer "The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya kommer att delta i mästarnas bankett och andra evenemang som planeras för den 2024 Hall of Fame Induktionshelg inställd på juni 6-9.
”Från OS-guld till världstitlar i sex divisioner, Oscar De La Hoya fångade boxningsfans runt om i världens fantasi,” sa Hall of Fame-direktören Edward Brophy. "Vi ser mycket fram emot att välkomna 'The Golden Boy' tillbaka till Canastota för Hall of Fame's 35-årsjubileum."

De La Hoya slog ett tak 223-5 (153 Kos) amatörkarriär genom att ta lättviktsguld på 1992 OLYMPISKA SPELEN. Han blev proffs samma år och tog sin första världstitel – WBO:s superfjäderviktare – i endast sin 12:e proffsmatch och skulle fortsätta att vinna 10 världstitlar i sex viktdivisioner.

Bland mästarna han besegrade är Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga och Hall of Famers Hector Camacho, Julio César Chávez, Pernell Whitaker och Arturo Gatti.

En av de största pay-per-view-attraktionerna i boxningshistorien. De La Hoya gick i pension 2008 med ett proffsrekord på 39-6 (30 Kos). I 2002 han etablerade PR-kraftverk Golden Boy Promotions. I 2014 "The Golden Boy" valdes in i Hall of Fame under hans första valbarhetsår.

En imponerande lista med över 35 boxningsstorheter från USA och utomlands, inklusive klassen av 2024, återvändande Hall of Famers och speciella gäster kommer att delta i Hall of Fame Weekend-firandet.

MICHELLE CORRALES-LEWIS Named New CEO / President of the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame

LAS VEGAS, NV (Oktober 5, 2016) – Den Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame (NVBHOF) a non-profit charitable organization which donates to boxing-related causes, is happy to announce Michelle Corrales-Lewis as its new CEO/President. Respected boxing announcer, Rich Marotta, who founded the NVBHOF in 2012, steps down after devoting years of his life to get the organization off the ground.
With a number of boxing greats already inducted, which include world champion fighters, judges, coaches and promoters, the NVBHOF has rapidly established itself as prestigious group not only here in Las Vegas, but around the world. The NVBHOF has multiple fundraising events throughout the year, helping local boxing organizations fulfill their goals to keep boxing alive within the community.
“I took this organization as far as I could and I’m very comfortable where it is at today,” said Rich Marotta. “Michelle is on the scene in Las Vegas, has a myriad of contacts, both in business and with the boxing community, especially the fighters, and is more than ready to completely run the company. She is incredibly capable and has been an indefatigable agent for growth of the NVBHOF the past three years, taking on additional responsibilities each and every year. It brings me great pleasure to announce her as the new CEO of the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame.”
After serving as the NVBHOF Chief Operating Officer for many years, Michelle Corrales-Lewis, is thrilled at her new position within the organization.
“It’s an honor to be chosen as the new CEO of the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame,” said Michelle Corrales-Lewis, widow of former multiple world champion and 2013 NVBHOF inductee, Diego Corrales. “Rich Marotta did a fantastic job building the organization from ground up. His immense work ethic is a great example of how I plan to continue the vision he set forth. My goal is to find a home for the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame, one where fans from all around the world can visit on regular basis. The boxing community is filled with wonderful people that we will honor as inductees each year. NEW YORK (April 6, 2016) - Showtime Sports® presents its latest installment of a year-long salute commemorating 30 år av Showtime MÄSTERSKAP BOXNING® with “Fights of the Year” in April on SHO EXTREME®.

 

The fourth round of a 12-month tribute will be highlighted by four of the most rousing and unforgettable fights in boxing history:

  • Jorge Castro vs. John David Jackson I - 1994 Ring Magazine Fight of the Year (Runda 9 earned Round of the Year honors)
  • Paulie Ayala vs. Johnny Tapia Jag - 1999 Ring Magazine Fight of the Year (Ayala fick Fighter of the Year-utmärkelsen)
  • Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo I - 2005 Årets konsensusstrid (Runda 10 earned Round of the Year honors)
  • Lucas Matthysse vs. John Molina Jr. - 2014 Boxing Writers Association of America Fight of the Year.

 

The four celebrated battles will air on “Throwback Thursdays” all month at 10 p.m. OCH/PT on SHO EXTREME and are available on SHOWTIME ON DEMAND®, Showtime ANYTIME® and via the network’s online streaming service. Each fight will be wrapped with brief context and commentary from SHOWTIME Sports ring announcer and International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Jimmy Lennon Jr.

Castro-Jackson I (December. 10, 1994, Castro KO 9) –Castro, thoroughly battered, bloodied and losing by a wide margin, rallies from the absolute brink of defeat to score three knockdowns in the ninth round to overcome Jackson in one of the most dramatic turnarounds ever.

Las Vegas (April 22, 2015) – The Raging Babe Soiree: Reaching New Heights presented by RAGING BABE will take place on April 29, 2015, just three days before the fight of the century, Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Over 100 of boxing’s most prestigious and influential women have been invited to attend this exclusive event. The Raging Babe Soiree will be held at Chayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar, located in The Linq Promenade in Las Vegas. After dinner, the women of boxing will take in the best views of Las Vegas aboard the world’s tallest observation wheel, the High Roller which features 28 spherical passenger cabins which can accommodate up to 40 passengers each, and is illuminated with dynamic multicolored LED lights nightly. Concluding the night with custom cupcakes from Sprinkles Cupcakes.

Corrales vs. Castillo I, vänt maj 7, 2005 i Las Vegas, var en episk World Boxing Organization (WBO)/World Boxing Council (WBC) enande kamp mellan ett par världs lätta mästare.

 

Corrales (39-2), som dog för sju år sedan i en motorcykelolycka, tappades två gånger av Corrales (52-6-1) i 10th runda. Corrales fick upp från duken och han snart ansluten med en perfekt höger som allvarligt skadar Castillo. Corrales avslutade snabbt showen som domaren Tony Veckor stoppat action med Castillo fångade på repen, äta en störtflod av obesvarade slag. Corrales vann med teknisk knockout i en spektakulär comeback.

 

Till en viss grad, Castillo fick sin revansch fem månader senare genom att slå ut mot Corrales i fjärde omgången, trots Castillo kom i övervikt och inga titlar stod på spel.
