LAS VEGAS, NV (Mars 10, 2020) - Den Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame announced its 2020 class of inductees today at the Fernando Vargas Fighting Foundation i Las Vegas. Inductees in attendance were, 2-Time världsmästare Fernando Vargas, 2-Time världsmästare, Bones Adams, WBC Lätt Champion, Devin Haney, who was voted Fighter of the Year, Prospect Årets, Rolando Romero, och Saalim Gonzales, father of Amateur Fighter of the Year, Rahim Gonzales. The group was introduced by NVBHOF founder, Rich Morrata, and President Michelle Corrales.

NEW YORK (April 6, 2016) - Showtime Sports® presents its latest installment of a year-long salute commemorating 30 år av Showtime MÄSTERSKAP BOXNING® with “Fights of the Year” in April on SHO EXTREME®.

 

The fourth round of a 12-month tribute will be highlighted by four of the most rousing and unforgettable fights in boxing history:

  • Jorge Castro vs. John David Jackson I - 1994 Ring Magazine Fight of the Year (Runda 9 earned Round of the Year honors)
  • Paulie Ayala vs. Johnny Tapia Jag - 1999 Ring Magazine Fight of the Year (Ayala fick Fighter of the Year-utmärkelsen)
  • Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo I - 2005 Årets konsensusstrid (Runda 10 earned Round of the Year honors)
  • Lucas Matthysse vs. John Molina Jr. - 2014 Boxing Writers Association of America Fight of the Year.

 

The four celebrated battles will air on “Throwback Thursdays” all month at 10 p.m. OCH/PT on SHO EXTREME and are available on SHOWTIME ON DEMAND®, Showtime ANYTIME® and via the network’s online streaming service. Each fight will be wrapped with brief context and commentary from SHOWTIME Sports ring announcer and International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Jimmy Lennon Jr.

 

Below is the schedule of SHOWTIME EXTREME premieres for the month of April:

  • Torsdag, April 7: Jorge Castro vs. John David Jackson I
  • Torsdag, April 14: Lucas Matthysse vs. John Molina Jr.
  • Torsdag, April 21: Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo I

Castro-Jackson I (December. 10, 1994, Castro KO 9) –Castro, thoroughly battered, bloodied and losing by a wide margin, rallies from the absolute brink of defeat to score three knockdowns in the ninth round to overcome Jackson in one of the most dramatic turnarounds ever.

NEW YORK (Februari. 11, 2015) – Den 2005 Fight of the Year, terar Diego “Pojke” Corrales kontra Jose Luis “Den förskräcklige” Slott, kommer luft denna söndag natt (Februari. 15) på Fight Network USA från 11:00-12:00 p.m. OCH som en del av sin Banner: Bäst av årtiondet serie.

Corrales vs. Castillo I, vänt maj 7, 2005 i Las Vegas, var en episk World Boxing Organization (WBO)/World Boxing Council (WBC) enande kamp mellan ett par världs lätta mästare.

 

Corrales (39-2), som dog för sju år sedan i en motorcykelolycka, tappades två gånger av Corrales (52-6-1) i 10th runda. Corrales fick upp från duken och han snart ansluten med en perfekt höger som allvarligt skadar Castillo. Corrales avslutade snabbt showen som domaren Tony Veckor stoppat action med Castillo fångade på repen, äta en störtflod av obesvarade slag. Corrales vann med teknisk knockout i en spektakulär comeback.

 

Till en viss grad, Castillo fick sin revansch fem månader senare genom att slå ut mot Corrales i fjärde omgången, trots Castillo kom i övervikt och inga titlar stod på spel.

Också vädring denna söndag kväll på Fight Network USA, lovordar vid 9:00 p.m. OCH, är en kamp från Juli 6, 2013 i Lazio, Italien, där lokala hjälten Silvio “Den Barbaro” Vit (62-11-3), en mästare två-tiden i världen lätt tungvikt, besegrade tidigare europeiska titlist Juho haapaj (20-3-1), Finland, med en 10-runda tekniskt beslut för den vakanta WBC Silver cruiser titel.
