NEW YORK (Dezember. 12, 2017) – Uzbekistan power-puncher Shohjahon Ergashev will face the toughest test of his career in fellow undefeated and top-10 ranked Sonny Fredrickson in the telecast opener of ShoBox: Die neue Generation auf Freitag, Jan. 12 live auf Showtime (10 p.m. UND/PT) von Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y..

In the co-feature of the tripleheader headlined by the Claressa Shields-Tori Nelson Women’s 10-round Super Middleweight World Championship, Jesse Hernandez (10-1, 7 KOs) will take on former National Golden Gloves Gold Medalist Ernesto Garza (9-2, 5 KOs; 1-3 WSB) in einem 10-Runden-Super Bantam Kampf zwischen zwei Action-Kämpfer.

The 26-year-old Ergashev has been a pro for just over one year and is a former six-year member of the Uzbek national team where he won 202 seines 216 Amateur-Kämpfe. A decorated amateur, Ergashev owns a win over Uzbekistan’s Shakhram Giyasov, a silver medalist in the welterweight division at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Ergashev registered a TKO against Marquis Hawthorne at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., in his last fight – and first in the United States – on November. 11. He now trains in Detroit under Javan “Sugar” Hill Steward and Rick Phillips at the famed Kronk Gym in Detroit.

“I know Sonny is a world-ranked, highly touted fighter,” Ergashev said. “I look forward to continuing my knockout streak and getting my 12th KO auf Januar 12. I am excited to fight on SHOWTIME and show the world what I bring to the ring.”

The 23-year-old Fredrickson is currently ranked No. 9 von der World Boxing Association. An active amateur who had 130 amateur bouts with more than 120 Siegen, Fredrickson traveled to Medellin, Kolumbien, in his last fight to face unbeaten Placido Ramirez as part of the annual WBA Convention and looked impressive in a third-round knockout.

Fredrickson competed in both the U.S. Amateur National Championships and National Golden Gloves and has been an active pro with five fights in 2015, four in 2016 und drei in 2017. He is represented by Roc Nation Sports and trained by Lamar Wright.

“If you look at Ergashev’s past opponents, he hasn’t fought against anyone that talented, so I’m confident that I’ll stop him in his tracks,” Fredrickson said. “I’m sure he’ll try to come out strong in the beginning of the fight, but I plan to break him down.

“Plenty of boxing stars got their first break on SHOWTIME, so fighting on this network is huge for me. I’m ready to capitalize on this opportunity and showcase my skills on one of the biggest platforms in boxing. My goal is to put on a great performance at Turning Stone and get the victory.”

Hernandez is coming off two consecutive wins over previously undefeated, top-15 ranked fighters – a unanimous decision over Glenn Dezurn on November. 11, and fifth-round TKO of Vladimir Tikhonov in his ShoBox Debüt auf August. 4. The 27-year-old Hernandez, the youngest of 15 Kinder, war 67-6 as an amateur and took five years off from boxing between 2009 und 2014 to work construction jobs in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.

“This is going to be a tough fight, but I am putting in the work and feel like I will definitely come out on top,“Sagte Hernandez, who has six brothers that have boxed professionally. “It will be action-packed and a must-watch fight. I feel like my aggressive style is meant for TV. I will fight whoever is put in front of me to prove my worth. Dominance in the 122-pound weight division is my ultimate goal.”

Garza, of Saginaw, Mich., war das 2008 National Golden Gloves Gold Medalist and a 2009 U.S.. National Championships Bronze Medalist. The 29-year-old is fighting on ShoBox for the second time having suffered a third-round knockout against Jon Fernandez on Februar. 10, in Miami, Oklahoma. Garza has won his last two fights since the defeat, both coming in Michigan.

“I’ve been training hard for this fight, and I can’t wait to step into the ring to show the world my talent,” Garza said. “I know I’m going to come out on top and bring back this win for my hometown. I’m extremely blessed and grateful for this opportunity. I can’t let it slip away.”

Im Main Event, Unified Women’s Super Middleweight World Champion Shields will defend her 168-pound titles against undefeated IBF mandatory challenger Nelson. A two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Shields (4-0, 2 KOs) will face her second consecutive undefeated opponent in the main event on ShoBox.

Nelson (17-0-3, 2 KOs) won a middleweight world championship in 2011 and owns wins over previously unbeaten Alicia Napoleon and Mia St. John. The 41-year-old Ashburn, Va., native looks to capture her second world title in a showdown with the fastest rising star in women’s boxing.

This will be the sixth ShoBox visit to Turning Stone Resort Casino, which hosted its first ShoBox telecast during the 2013 Hall of Fame weekend.

2017 National Golden Gloves champion Poindexter Knight, Jr. wins his Pro debut

New York (Dezember, 11, 2017)–On December 1st, welterweight prospect Poindexter Knight, Jr. won his anticipated professional debut when he stopped Samuel Forjoe in the first round of their scheduled four-round bout at The Strand Ballroom and Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.
Die 2017 National Golden Gloves champion out of Philadelphia landed a hard combination the corner that had Forjoe bending over, and the bout was stopped in just 63 Sekunden.
Knight is the latest top-prospect to debut for Split-T Management, and he is promoted by Evander Holyfield’s Sports and Entertainment.
“Everything went well, I was excited and nervous, but I got through it,”sagte Ritter.
“I thought my opponent would have a little more for me, but I did what I had to do in there and I got him out of there. It was great to get the knockout in my pro debut,” continued Knight.
Knight is eager to get his next victory, and he is looking to do in front of his hometown fans.
“I am hoping to fight in front of my hometown fans in 2018. That would be a goal for the upcoming year. I can’t wait as I am coming strong in 2018.”
Knight is trained by his father Poindexter Knight, Sr, and the elder Knight was happy with his son’s performance.
“Poindexter looked relaxed, and it looked like it was his 10th fight. I am happy to be with Split-T Management. They gave us a chance when no one else did. We wanted to turn pro for a while and a lot of managers made a lot of broken promises. I put Poindexter back in the Golden Gloves, and he won, which opened a lot of doors,” Said Poindexter Knight, Sr.
“Like my son said, I would like to see him get at least five fights for 2018. That will keep him sharp, and he will continue to learn. We had a great 1st fight, and we will continue to work hard and get better with each fight.”

Vito Mielnicki, Jr. gewinnt die United States Junior National Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah

Nutley, NJ (Dezember 11, 2017)–Letzte Woche in Salt Lake City, Utah, Vito Mielnicki, Jr. gewann die United States Junior National Championship in der 145-Pfund-Division.
Mielnicki von Rosenland, New Jersey rückte beispiellos nach oben 10 Gewichtsklassen, in denen er mit 106 Pfund an den Start ging 2017 Turnier, und besiegte die Nummer zwei der Saat, Adam Calixto aus Tampa, Florida im Halbfinale. Im Finale, Mielnicki besiegte den topgesetzten Obed Bartee-El aus Huntsville, Alabama.
Mit dem Titel, Mielnicki erkämpfte sich einen Platz in der 2018 Junioren-Nationalmannschaft der Vereinigten Staaten, Wo er am 4. Februar im Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs mit seinen Teamkollegen trainieren wird, Colorado, um sich auf den internationalen Wettbewerb vorzubereiten.

Kann Saunders seinen bisher beeindruckendsten Sieg gegen Lemieux sichern??

Billy Joe Saunders wird im Dezember in den Ring gehen 16 in Kanada als amtierender und amtierender WBO-Weltmeister im Mittelgewicht, stolzer Besitzer eines Gürtels zu sein, den er bereits im Dezember gewonnen hat 2015 beim Besiegen des Mitreisenden Andy Lee.

 

Aber seit dem Outpointing des Iren Lee mit einem Mehrheitsentscheidungserfolg Weltmeister in der Manchester Arena zu werden, Saunders hat es nur zweimal verteidigt, mit einstimmiger Entscheidung triumphiert über Artur Akavov und Willie Monroe Jr., vor kurzem.

Für die meisten Titelverteidigungen, er war kaum zum Arbeiten gezwungen, mit Monroe, der mit einem bizarr ineffizienten Spielplan hereingekommen ist.

Von allen Gegnern, mit denen Saunders bisher auf Augenhöhe gegangen ist, keiner hat die Schlagkraft von Lemieux besessen, und das könnte ein entscheidender Faktor in der Kampfnacht sein. Letztere Heimhoffnung wird von Oscar De La Hoyas Golden Boy gefördert, die anscheinend daran interessiert sind, den Kanadier mit der Haupt-Cash-Cow Saul ‘Canelo . zusammenzubringen’ Alvarez nächstes Jahr, anstatt ihn mit 'GGG . hineinzuwerfen’ wieder einmal in einem mit Spannung erwarteten Rückkampf.

The 32-year-old Kimber, who was the crowd favorite having lived several years in New Hampshire, overcame the determined Schulte for a hard-fought victory by way of a four-round majority decision.
“I was a little nervous with this being my first time in a pro ring,” Kimber admitted after his fight. “I hadn’t been in a ring for 1 ½ years and there was some ring rust. Jetzt, I know what I need to good, and I’ll be a lot better next fight. This was my first camp and I’ve learned a lot. I’d like to stay busy, come back in late January, early February.”
Undefeated Whitman, MA junior welterweight prospect Mikrofon “Bad Man” JE, Jr.charged across the ring, unloading a powerful right that immediately sent Bardraiel Smith auf die Leinwand. Smith somehow got to his feet but Ohan quickly ended Smith’s night, only 30-second into round one, as referee Ryan waved off the action.

In a non-title fight contested at a 185-pounds catchweight, the Quincy, MA-based Traietti floored his game Mexican opponent with a straight right midway through the opening round, closing the show in the second round with a series of unanswered punches.
The only New Hampshire native on the card, Claremont junior middleweight Ricky Ford(1-1-1) won his first pro fight, taking a lop-sided, four-round unanimous decision over pro MMA fighter Andy Aiello, who made his pro boxing debut.
In another stay-busy fight, former world-rated Ryan “Der polnische Prinz” Kielczweski(27-3, 9 KOs), fighting out of Quincy (MA), needed only 51-seconds to finish off Mexican lightweight Francisco “Der Affe” Medal. Kielczweski hit Medal with a with a lethal left to the body, leaving Medal in obvious pain and unable to rise before the 10-count.
New Jersey middleweight Chris “Sandmann” Thomas (7-0-1, 4 KOs) kept his unbeaten pro record intact with a second-round stoppage of Demetrius Thomas. Thomas used a rapid-fire combination to drop Thomas, who beat the count, but he was getting hammered when referee Ryan stopped the fight late in the second round.

Perrella Outpoints Martin; Ready for next Challenge

Dezember 9, 2017 (Hialeah, FL) – Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella returned to the ring with a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Alex “Chi-Town Heat” Martin Friday, Dezember 8.
The eight round welterweight bout took place at the Hialeah Racetrack in Hialeah, FL and aired on FS1.
Fighting for the first time in 14 Monate and coming off a severe injury, Perrella looked to impress from the opening bell. The Fort Myers native came out aggressive and decked Martin with a picture perfect right hook in the opening round. Perrella continued to be the aggressor while the Chicago-based Martin picked his spots and relied on movement. Martin had a few good moments later in the fight but Perrella’s power and punch output earned him a clear-cut victory.
Scores waren 79-72 zweimal und 77-74. Perrella improves to 15-1 mit 13 KO’s while Martin is 13-3 (5 KO).
"It felt great to come back” said Perrella. “I didn’t feel any ring rust and I’m satisfied with my performance. I controlled the fight with my jab and ring generalship (even after) he went into survival mode. I’m back and ready for whoever they put in front of me. My goal is still to become a world champion!"

Before his Januar 20 fight against former two-division world champion Lamont Peterson at Barclays Center in Brooklyn live on SHOWTIME, IBF Welterweight World Champion Errol “Die Wahrheit” Spence Jr. will make a donation and partner with his trainer Derrick James to host a holiday toy drive to benefit underserved youth of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas.
Team Spence is encouraging Dallas residents to drop off an unused toy at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas Corporate Office, which will then be distributed to Boys & Girls Clubs in the area.
