Finale of 2018 Youth Continental Championships is Golden for Team USA

科羅拉多斯普林斯, COLO (五月 31, 2018) – The final night of the 2018 Youth Continental Championships saw the American delegation collect seven gold medals and three silvers, making their final medal count 11 golds, three silvers and one bronze at the week-long tournament that took place at the Hotel Elegante in Colorado Springs, 膝部.

 

 

 

Two highlights of the championships included light heavyweight Alexis Espino (拉斯維加斯, 內華達州。) and heavyweight David Stevens (閱讀, 霸。) winning their second international title of 2018 by first-round knockouts. The final two females to box, bantamweight Heaven Garcia (山, 加利福尼亞州。) and lightweight Isamary Aquino (聖安東尼奧, 得克薩斯州), defeated Emilia Dermott of Canada and Jennifer Yazmin Carrillo of Mexico, respectfully, to add two gold medals to the four the women’s team won on Thursday.

 

 

 

 

The final three gold medals were picked up by lightweight Harley Mederos (紐約, 紐約州), light welterweight Otha Jones III (托萊多, 俄亥俄) and super heavyweight Drake Banks (Homosassa, 佛羅里達州。). The trio defeated their opponents by unanimous decisions to give Team USA the top team of the tournament.

 

 

 

 

This week’s tournament brought 14 different countries to Olympic City USA looking to qualify to the Youth Olympic Games and Youth World Championships, both taking place later this year. Upcoming world super-lightweight challenger Juan Jose “El Pitbull” Velasco says he’s happy to be facing a fighter being labeled a potential new star in boxing on Saturday, 七月 14.

Training is going fantastic! I am in Miami at Caicedo Sports Training Camp, working with Herman Caicedo. Herman is relentless. As soon as he picked me up, traveling from Argentina to Miami. He took me straight to the track and ran drills for an hour.

 

Talk to me about the opportunity to fight for world championship?

Describe yourself as a fighter for American fans who haven’t seen you yet.

I am a boxer puncher who can adapt to what is in front of me. Are you doing anything different in training for this fight? Answer: 是的, the major difference is training with Herman Caicedo in Miami. He has had great success with lots of fighters and one of the few coaches to develop a fighter into a champion from pro debuts. He is a teacher. I look forward to much success with him.

Dan Pasciolla looking to defend and win New Jersey State Heavyweight title this Friday against Quian Davis

A strong bitterness carried over from many years earlier was in full force during the pre-fight build up between former sparring partners and former world champions Mando Ramos and Raul Rojas. These Harbor-area fighters openly played mind-games with each other and tossed hateful personal insults back-and-forth in order to gain a psychological edge. In this crucial crossroads fight for both, 拉莫斯, 長灘, was led to believe that San Pedro’s Rojas was not in shape. Ramos proceeded to take it easy and coasted during training camp. In one of the most anticipated dream matches in Los Angeles boxing history, “Schoolboy” 鮑比·查肯, of Sylmar, knocked out Danny “小紅” 洛佩茲, of Alhambra, in the ninth round to win the mythical “City Featherweight Championship.” Chacon was in his wheelhouse all night long, rocking Lopez repeatedly with his right hand throughout the fight. This clash of local rising stars in the featherweight division, promoted by Aileen Eaton and the Olympic Boxing Club, occurred in front of a sold-out crowd of 16,027 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on May 24, 1974. The fight produced so much interest that another 2,671 fans watched on closed-circuit TV at the Olympic Auditorium, located on the corner of 18th & Grand in downtown Los Angeles. Steve Springer of the 洛杉磯時報 wrote in 1995 about the fight as a measuring stick for boxing fan passion in the area, 話 “you would have to go back to Chacon-Lopez to find such excitement for a pair of Los Angeles fighters.”

 

 

 

It was the first time in boxing history that two college graduates fought for the world title when WBC welterweight champion Carlos Palomino, of Westminster, successfully defended his title against Armando Muniz, of Montebello, by 15th-round TKO at the Olympic Auditorium on January 21, 1977. Many local boxing writers called this knockdown, drag-out war, 該 “年度撲滅”, and in the rematch held May 27, 1978 at the same venue, Palomino once again stopped Muniz, this time by 15-round unanimous decision.
