Santa Cruz and Mares first battled in August 2015 at STAPLES Center with Santa Cruz earning the majority decision and a vacant featherweight title. The consensus top-five featherweights will look to put on a repeat of the performance that saw them throw over 2,000 coups de poing combinés.

 

 

 

Santa Cruz was joined at City of Angels Boxing Tuesday by his father and trainer, Jose Santa Cruz, and Ringstar Sports Chairman and CEO Richard Schaefer. Here is what they had to say Tuesday:

“I think Abner has looked better in recent fights, but not so much that he looks unbeatable or anything. He’s shown some improvements but I feel I’ve gotten much better as well. It’s going to be a great fight and I’m going to come out victorious.

 

 

 

“He says he’s going to box me more this time, but it’s easier to say that than do it. When you get in the ring and hear the fans, they make you want to brawl. Once you hear the crowd you want to entertain them. You love to hear the people scream.

 

 

 

“I’m going to try to go out there and give the fans a great fight like I always do. I feel like I’m in great condition right now. I feel a lot stronger and even my dad has told me this is as good as he’s seen me look.

 

 

 

“I’ve learned a lot since the first Mares fight. I’ve learned how to adjust during a fight better. I’m a more complete fighter and it’s going to help me look even better this time.

 

 

 

“I’m still as motivated as ever. I have the same hunger as if this fight was for my first title. I never underestimate anyone and always give it my all in the gym. It’s no different heading into this one.

 

 

 

“We’re going to try to win bigger this time but I’ll be ready to go 12 tours. I’d definitely love to stop him. If the knockout comes it comes, and if I see an opening I’m going to take advantage.

 

 

 

“I try to motivate my dad as much as I can by training hard. He says he’s happiest when I’m working hard so I just keeping trying to push it every day and make sure he’s happy.

 

 

 

“The two fights with Frampton definitely made me a better fighter. They gave me a lot of experience and I learned a lot from those fights. I know I’m going to be a better fighter for this fight than the first time we fought.

 

 

 

“We always prepare for 12 tours. I’ve been going 13 rounds in sparring because my dad always likes to go one extra. This has been one of the best camps we’ve had as far as conditioning and sparring.

 

 

 

“I am ready to unify with any of the featherweight champions. Me and Gary Russell Jr. fought in the amateurs. He beat me but it was a good fight and I believe I can beat him. I know the tactics I’d use. Hopefully I can get my rematch.

 

 

 

“We’re focused on improving everything in camp. We’re working on my power, vitesse, foot work and all of the skills it will take to win this rematch.”

“The first fight with Mares was a bit rough and even dirty at times. After four rounds I felt like they were stealing the fight from us so I told Leo to tire him out and show that he’s the better boxer. The results of the fight proved that.

 

 

 

“There are a lot of great fighters out there but not many have good defensive techniques and that is where every fighter can improve. With my kids and with Leo I have always trained him to be good defensively because anyone can throw punches but not everyone can take a punch and keep going. I have always loved this sport but I love to win even more. Leo is still growing but I think he’s the best fighter at featherweight right now.

 

 

 

“I definitely think that Mares will come with new skills to this fight and have a different approach with his new trainer now that he’s with Robert Garcia. I think he’ll try to box more and look to get us on the counterpunch.”

Mares and Garcia put media through a workout of their own before Mares stepped into the ring to show off his skills. Here is what Mares and Garcia had to say Tuesday from the Robert Garcia Gym:

“This is probably the biggest fight of Abner’s career and the biggest since me and Abner have teamed up together. This is a fight that Abner wanted very badly and as his trainer, I want this win badly.

 

 

 

“We know that this isn’t going to be an easy fight. But the way that Abner has been training and the way that he follows instructions, it’s going to make a big difference in his performance June 9 compared to the first fight.

 

 

 

“I was at the first fight and I thought that Abner looked for big single punches too much and fought too rough of a fight. He made it harder on himself. It was still a very close fight despite that.

 

 

 

“With a little more speed and by fighting smart going in and out, Abner could make a huge leap in his performance this time out. We know we have to look to throw combinations and break Leo down.

 

 

 

“We’ve been getting sparring partners that are a little taller and throw a lot of punches and the results have been great. Abner just has to be in shape to 12 tours, because Leo is a fighter that finishes as strong as he starts. We can’t perform for eight rounds and then tire out because there’s a chance Leo comes on strong and puts us in trouble.”

LOS ANGELES (Avril 11, 2018) – The 154-pound division continues to heat up as undefeated world champion Jermell Charlo defends his belt against former world champion Austin “Sans Doute” Truite Samedi, Juin 9 in a 12-round showdown live on SHOWTIME from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

 

 

 

 

The Premier Boxing Champions event is headlined by WBA Super World Featherweight World Champion Leo Santa Cruz battling WBA Regular Featherweight World Champion Abner Mares in an anticipated world title rematch.

Super welterweight is one of the deepest and most ferociously contested divisions in boxing with unified champion Jarrett Hurd and Charlo on a collision course for supremacy in the weight class. Virtually all of the most significant fights in the division are taking place in 2018 sur Showtime, with the three consensus best fighters, and at least five of the consensus top-10, facing off in what has become an unofficial tournament.

 

 

 

 

Charlo (30-0, 15 KOs) has blasted his way to the top of the division, having stopped four of his last opponents by knockout. The 27-year-old from Houston won the title with a knockout victory over John Jackson in 2016. Since then he has successfully defended it twice, including scoring a devastating first round knockout victory over top contender Erickson Lubin in his last fight in October and a Knockout of the Year contender against Charles Hatley in April. Charlo and his twin brother, Jermall, were the only twin brothers to hold world titles in the same weight class simultaneously before Jermall relinquished his 154-pound championship to campaign at 160 livres.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Trout is no journeyman. He’s a former world champion, someone who has a name and he comes to fight. The name means he’s worthy of another title challenge,” Saïd Charlo. “Trout is the man that has been chosen for me and I have to take care of him. I’m super excited to be fighting and defending my title again.

 

 

 

 

 

“The only thing I’m going to tell you about what I’m going to do against Trout is, I’m going to surprise you guys. I plan to show my skills and show why I’m the best at 154 livres. The most important thing is to make my mark and claim my territory.”

 

 

 

 

The 32-year-old Trout (31-4, 17 KOs) is one of most accomplished boxers in the 154-pound division, having stepped into the ring against champions like Miguel Cotto, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Jermall Charlo and Jarrett Hurd. Representing Las Cruces, New Mexico, he won the super welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Rigoberto Alvarez in 2011. He successfully defended the title four times, including a victory over Cotto, before losing the championship to Alvarez in 2013 and a decision to Lara eight months later.

 

 

 

 

After winning four straight, Trout stepped in for a world championship against Jermall Charlo but lost a close unanimous decision in 2016, although he is the only person to go the distance with Jermall since 2015. Last October he took on Hurd for the title, but lost via 10e ronde TKO – the first time in his career that he’d ever been stopped. Trout is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Juan De Angel on Feb. 17.

LOS ANGELES (Avril 2, 2018) – Un match revanche entre les champions du monde poids plume et rivaux sud de la Californie Lion “Tremblement de terre” Santa Cruz et Abner Mares action sera globale samedi, Juin 9 en direct sur Showtime à partir STAPLES Center à Los Angeles dans un événement présenté par Premier Champions de boxe.

Santa Cruz (33-1-1, 18 KOs) et Mares (30-2-1, 15 KOs) rencontrés en Août 2015 au STAPLES Center et est allé jusqu'au bout à bout pour 12 tours à rythme rapide, avec Santa Cruz finalement gagner la décision majoritaire et un titre vacant poids plume. Maintenant, Santa Cruz mettra son titre WBA super poids plume du monde sur la ligne contre la WBA poids plume régulier Champion du Monde Mares.

 

 

 

 

Le match initial recueilli “Combat de l'Année” la reconnaissance et la garantie d'un match revanche entre le sommet de consensus cinq qui se penchera poids plume à mettre sur une répétition de la performance qui a vu les jeter sur 2,000 coups de poing combinés.

Le populaire mexicain-américain Santa Cruz combats de Los Angeles et plus récemment arrêté Chris Avalos en Octobre 2017 après une paire de hauts enjeux showdowns contre étoile irlandaise et deux division champion du monde Carl Frampton. Alors que Santa Cruz a perdu une décision majoritaire à proximité de leur premier match, il a rebondi en Janvier 2017 pour vaincre Frampton par décision majoritaire et retrouver son titre de 126 livres. Avant que, Santa Cruz a remporté les ceintures à 118 et 122 livres tout en gagnant une réputation comme l'un des plus actifs combattants et passionnants de boxe. Les 29 ans détient également des victoires sur Cristian Mijares, Kiko Martinez et Eric Morel et a participé à des épisodes de championnat du monde en 14 de son dernier 16 combats depuis 2012.

Mares plus récemment marqué une décision technique sur Andres Gutierrez en Octobre 2017. dans un mexicain olympien 2004, le 32 ans a remporté son premier titre en 2011 quand il a battu Joseph Agbeko pour capturer la couronne des poids coq. Il a continué à augmenter dans la liste de livre pour livre avec des victoires sur Anselmo Moreno et DanielPonce De Leon pour gagner des titres mondiaux au super poids coq et poids plume. le Juin 9 combat sera Mares’ troisième concours avec l'entraîneur champion du monde Robert Garcia, qui a contribué à une victoire Mares gagnant le titre dans leur premier combat ensemble.

Las Vegas (Mars 19, 2018) – Champion du monde à cinq reprises Zab Judah a confirmé qu'il comparaîtra à la “Groupe VIP Barrett” stand et organiser une rencontre & Accueillir avec ses fans à la Las Vegas Convention Center pour la 4ème édition du Expo Fan Box qui aura lieu samedi mai 5, 2018 10 heures-17 heures, pendant le week-end de lutte Cinco De Mayo.
Judah apparaîtra à nouveau à l'Expo de cette année, où il sera signera des gants, des photos et des produits pour les fans. Les fans de boxe auront également une excellente occasion de prendre des photos avec cette star de la boxe également connue sous le nom de “Super”.
A propos de Zab Judah
Judah est un boxeur professionnel américain et futur hall of famer dans le sport de la boxe. Il est un ancien champion du monde à cinq reprises dans deux catégories de poids, ayant détenu les titres des poids welters juniors IBF et WBO entre 2000 et 2004; le titre des poids welters juniors IBF à nouveau en 2011 et le titre incontesté des poids welters en 2005, qui comprenait un règne en tant que champion linéaire de 2005 à 2006.

Las Vegas (Mars 15, 2018) – Champion du monde à deux reprises Shannon Briggs “Allons-y champion” a confirmé qu'il comparaîtra, un stand et tenir une rencontre & Accueillir avec ses fans à la Las Vegas Convention Center pour la 4ème édition du Expo Fan Box qui aura lieu samedi mai 5,2018 à partir de 10h à 17 heures, pendant le week-end de lutte Cinco De Mayo.
Briggs apparaîtra pour la première fois à l'Expo de cette année où il lancera et présentera son nouveau “Champ RX” “Allons-y champion” des produits. Briggs signera des gants, des photos et des produits pour les fans. Les fans de boxe auront également une excellente occasion de prendre des photos avec cette star de la boxe également connue sous le nom de “Le Cannon”.
A propos de Shannon Briggs
Briggs est un boxeur professionnel américain. Vétéran du sport depuis vingt ans, il est un ancien champion du monde des poids lourds à deux reprises, ayant détenu le titre linéaire de 1997 à 1998, et le titre WBO de 2006 à 2007. Briggs a été impliqué dans certains des plus grands combats de l'histoire de la boxe et a combattu certains des plus grands noms, dont George Foreman., Lennox Lewis, Vitali Klitschko et Ray Mercer.
