Here is what the press conference participants had to say Thursday from Dream Hotel Downtown in Manhattan:

DANNY GARCIA

I know I’m the better all-around fighter. I can just do more in the ring than Shawn Porter, Zeit. I’m going to prove it on Saturday.

It means the world to me to get this belt back. This is a new chapter in my career. I’ve been in a lot of great fights. I’m a seasoned champion. This is a chance to regain something that was mine. This is one of the moments where I have to just go out there and prove myself.

My style is totally different than Keith Thurman, so I hope Shawn isn’t going off of that fight. I know I’m a better boxer than Shawn Porter and I’m going to make sure everyone else knows it too.

I absolutely want to unify with Errol Spence Jr. after I win. I want the biggest fights. This would be my fourth world title. All I’ve ever done is face everyone they put in front me and I’ve earned those huge fights.

This is nothing new to me. I’ve performed at this level for a long time. I’ve put in the hard work. Come Saturday night I’m going to get this victory because I’m the better fighter and a true champion.

I’m incredibly motivated, but I know that sometimes in life if you want something too much, you don’t get it. I’ve achieved a lot in this sport. This will just add more hardware to my collection.

I didn’t take any punishment in the Thurman fight. I could have come back two months later. I know that I could have started earlier and been more relentless, but I’m just going to take that into this fight and make the best of it.

Shawn Porter

The way I’m going to win this fight will change the conversation at welterweight. You’re going to have to wonder whether Errol Spence Jr. and Terrence Crawford have what it takes to beat me. I’m here to put on a great show, win this title and do it in spectacular fashion

I’m used to being the underdog. I’ve upset people before. I’m looking forward to doing what it takes to be that one to pull it off.

Styles make fights. One way or another, I’m ready to do whatever it takes to win this fight. There’s nothing I’ve ever wanted in my entire life more than this. I’m out here to take it.

Anything Danny is coming with, Ich nehme es. It’s mine. Was auch immer notwendig ist, I will not be stopped on Saturday night.

This means the world to me. This is my goal. I’m a goal-oriented person. I didn’t know when I was going to be fighting for this WBC title, I knew this was my time. This title has so much lineage and history to go along with it and I want to be a part of it.

I’m setting the tone now for what Danny should expect from fight night. He’s had this before, but this is my goal and this world title is mine to take.

Danny has to know that he’s getting in the ring with a bull. This isn’t going to be an easy 12 Runde. I’m going to make him earn every inch.

JORDENIS UGAS

It’s an honor to be a part of such a big card at Barclays Center. I’m going to do what I need to do. I’m going to put on a great performance, and the rest will take care of itself.

I think I’ve been the most consistent fighter at welterweight for the last two years. If I take care of business on Saturday, a world title shot will be next.

My opponent is going to try to make a big name for himself, but it’s my job to study him and make adjustments in the ring to get him out of there.

CESAR BARRIONUEVO

I’m very happy to be in this position. It’s going to be a great fight and it’s going to be my announcement to the U.S. I’m very ready to perform on that stage.

I know that my power and my relentlessness will make this an exciting fight for the fans. I hope that Ugas is not underestimating me, because I want him to be at his very best.

Fighting in Brooklyn is exciting. I could not be on a more exciting or perfect stage for this fight. Saturday will become the night that everyone remembers for my arrival.

ADAM Kownacka

After Saturday night, everybody will know my name. I’m the next great heavyweight here in America. I want to make my splash on the national scene.

Last year against Artur Szpilka was an appetizer and this is my main course for really making myself known as a threat to everyone at heavyweight.

I can’t wait to hear the Polish fans and see the red and white. It’s going to be another awesome atmosphere and I’m definitely coming to send those fans home happy.

I feel like I’ve been getting better and better as I get more recognition. A world title fight is not that far in my future. I’m focused on beating Charles Martin first and letting my performance speak for itself.

Charles Martin

I’m going to go in there and put on a show. I’m going to get myself back to the position I want to be. That’s at the top of the heavyweight division.

I’m in phenomenal shape. I’ve been working hard for two and a half months. We’re back to where we need to be and you’ll see it on Saturday.

Training in the altitude in California is rough, but it’s great once you get here and feel great. That’s why you work so hard to get in shape, so you can be twice as good on fight night.

There are a lot of great heavyweight out there. I’m glad that people are giving it the acclaim they deserve. I think all of those guys are beatable and I look forward for my chance to prove it.

AMANDA SERRANO

I’m so thankful to have this great opportunity to make history again. I’m going to put on a tremendous show like I always do and give my hometown fans something to cheer for.

Come Saturday night, I’m super excited to grab this title in a sixth division. It puts me up there with two of the best fighters of all time in Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao. I’ve won all of my titles by knockout and I have to keep that streak going on Saturday night.

Winning this fight is everything. I hope that I’m doing something great for young Latinas coming up in the sport. I’m going to continue to break down these barriers and one day cement my legacy in the Hall of Fame.

Lou DiBella, Präsident der DiBella Entertainment

This is going to be a sensational show this Saturday night at Barclays Center. This is about as good as it gets. I’ve said that a number of times over recent years, and that’s a good thing. This is another show loaded with talent and has a sensational main event between two of the best fighters in the world, with styles that will mesh really well.

“Garcia vs. Porter is a can’t miss fight. The winner will establish themselves as one of the best in the welterweight division and all of boxing. There will really be no loser, because there’s no way this isn’t an action-packed clash that lifts up both men in the eyes of fans.

There is really a terrific undercard on this show including amazing talent off of television. We always have a strong representation from Brooklyn and this show is no different with unbeaten rising prospects Chris Colbert, Richardson Hitchins and Chordale Booker. Mehr, Brooklyn’s own Amanda Serrano looking to make history once again.

CHRIS DEBLASIO, SVP Sports Communications, Showtime Networks Inc..

We have established ourselves as an industry leader during an incredible time for boxing. We’ve delivered the largest slate of live boxing, with the best fighters in the most pivotal matchups. Our commitment will continue to be second to none.

Simply the best….. Roy Jones, Jr.

USA Boxing Alumni Association, Klasse von 2018 Inductee

COLORADO SPRINGS, Runde. (September 6, 2018) – Living legend Roy Jones, Jr., universally recognized as one of the greatest pound-for-pound boxers of all-time, leads a celebrated quintet of Class of 2018 inductees into the USA Boxing Alumni Association Hall of Fame.

Der zweite jährliche Empfang der Hall of Fame der USA Boxing Alumni Association, in Verbindung mit dem gehalten 2018 USA Boxing Elite und Youth National Championships sowie Junior und Prep Open, Dezember 2-8, will be held Dec. 7, im Radisson Hotel (215 S. Temple St.) in Salk Lake City, Utah.

Neben Jones, Die Klasse der 2018 also includes two U.S. Olympic gold medalists and world (Profi) Meister, Andre Ward und Claressa Shields, sowie ehemaliger USA Boxing National Director of Coaching Emanuel Steward und Veteran USA Boxing Official Tom Cleary. Die beiden letzteren werden posthum eingeführt.

Die im letzten Jahr eingeführte Charterklasse inklusive Muhammad Ali und Evander Holyfield, sowie erfahrene Trainer Roosevelt Sanders und Tom Coulter.

I am honored to be selected for induction into the USA Boxing Alumni Association Hall of Fame,” Jones commented, “especially as a member of this great class with my fellow inductees.

Amateur boxing gave me the chance to learn life skills as well as face every other possible scenario inside of the ring.

Jones, ironisch, got into boxing at the age of 11 because of Ali. “I saw Ali vs. (Joe) Frazierand just felt as though Ali and I had the same mental concept on life,” Jones explained.

Jones went on to become one of the best amateur boxers in the world, compiling a reported 121-13 Rekord, including gold medal performances at the 1984 National Junior Olympics and 1986 & 1987 National Golden Gloves Tournaments.

Am 1988 Olympische Spiele in Seoul, Südkorea, Jones reached the championship final of the light middleweight division against Park Si-Hun, von Südkorea. Jones suffered arguably the worst decision in boxing history, losing 3-2, despite outpunching his opponent, 86 bis 32 landed punches, and he was forced to settle for a silver medal. Even his opponent admitted that Jones won their fight, leading the AIBA to later suspend the three judges who selected the hometown fighter as the winner.

How disgraceful was this decision? Jones was selected as the Val Barker Trophy winner as the best boxer of the 1988 Olympische Spiele und, due to controversy, the scoring system for Olympic boxing was changed, replacing the 20-point must system with electronic scoring.

I was angered,” Jones admitted, “yet promoted to prove that I was the best fighter there, and in the world, at that time.

Jones made his professional debut May 6, 1989, at home in Pensacola, Florida, in a scheduled eight-round bout, in which RJJ stopped Ricky Randall in der zweiten Runde. His long, glorious journey has produced a remarkable 66-9 (47 KOs) pro Datensatz, highlighted by nine major world titles in four different weight classes.

In 2003, Jones defeated John Ruiz by way of a 12-round unanimous decision to become the first former world middleweight champion to become world heavyweight title holder in more than a century.

The possessor of exceptional hand and foot speed, Athletentum, movement and reflexes, Jones went undefeated through his first 34 Profi Kämpfe, 22-3 (14) in WM-Titel kämpft. Against former, present or future world champions, Jones was 19-9 (8 KOs) and included among his victims were greats such as Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, Mike McCallum,Vinnie Pazienza, Virgil Hill, Antonio Tarver und Felix Trinidad.

Heute, the 49-year-old Jones, technically speaking, is still an active fighter. He also has two promotional companies and gyms, located in Pensacola and Las Vegas, trains several pro boxers and serves as a color commentator for HBO Boxing. He recently opened gyms in South Africa.

For the past two years, Jones has hosted theFuture Stars of Boxing Tournament” in Las Vegas, showcasing some of the best amateur boxers in the world.

Hosting the tournament in Las Vegas gives me the opportunity to give back to amateur boxing,” Jones explained. “It’s a great experience for the boxers and it reminds them that who they may have or still look up to, are watching them as well.

When USA Boxing alumni discuss their favorite fighters,” sagte, Chris Cugliari, Exekutivdirektor der USA Boxing Alumni Association, “Roy Jones is near the top of everyone’s list. His spectacular talent, dedication to his craft, and infectious personality make him a no-brainer to headline this year’s Hall of Fame class. He continues to give back to amateur boxing and support the next generation. Roy deserves to be celebrated for all he has accomplished, and we look forward to honoring him in December.

George Foreman: “(Jones) hits like a heavyweight and moved like a lightweight.

Montell Griffin: “Floyd (Mayweather, Jr.) was no comparison as far as speed. Roy was much faster.

Mike McCallum: “(Jones is) the greatest fighter of all time.

If he ever hangs-up his gloves for good, Roy Jones, Jr. will be a first ballot inductee into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. There may never be another boxer quite like RJJ.

Russian Contenders Salamov, Idigov and Davtaev Score Impressive Victories in Grozny

All three of Salita Promotions’ Russia-based contenders, light heavyweight Umar Salamov, super middleweight Aslambek “The Hulk” Idigov and heavyweight Apti Davtaev scored impressive victories in Russia today.

Fighting in the main event at the Grozny City Hotel in Grozny, and live in Russia on Match TV, IBF #11- and WBO #15-rated Umar Salamov moved to 22-1, 17 KOs with a two-round KO over Denis Liebau (23-3, 21 KOs) of Frankfurt Germany.

Fighting for the WBO International Light Heavyweight Championship, Salamov came out firing in round two, landing a perfect left hook to the body that dropped Liebau for the count. The official time was 2:15.

WBO #14-rated super middleweight Aslambek Idigov (14-0, 6 KOs) destroyed former African champion Daniel Wanyonyi (27-13-2, 22 KOs) of Kenya in two brutal rounds. Idigov dropped Wanyonyi three times with a series of brutal right hands. The fight was waved off at 2:32. Idigov is now the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Champion.

Heavyweight crusher Apti Davtaev (16-0-1, 15 KOs) took out the Ukraine’s Evgeny German Skobenko in six dominant rounds. A serious prospect in the big man’s division, Davtaev was way too powerful for the normally capable Skobenko, pushing him around until the fateful round, where a solid mix of unanswered shots brought an end at 2:40.

“All three fighters did their jobs well today,” said their co-promoter, Dmitriy Salita. “They are all future champions and they looked the part today against respectable opponents. I am proud of all them. The work they have been doing at Kronk Gym is really showing through in their dominant performances.”

Tickets for the inaugural installment ofMMA Pro League At The Hard Rock” am Samstag, September 15, featuring Team New Jersey vs. Team Pennsylvania, are available at Ticketmaster.com.

Here is what Dan Miller’s Team New Jersey fighters had to say as they prepare to take on head coach Daniel Gracie’s Team Pennsylvania:

CLAUDIO LEDESMA

Weight Class: Fliegengewicht

Heimatstadt: West Orange, NJ

Why do you fight?

I fight because I love the sport and I feel I was gifted the ability to do it competitively. So I can’t let it go to waste.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

My favorite fighter is actually a blend of Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes. I look up to both of them as fighters and try to put a little piece of each of them in my game.

What is your fighting background and style?

I’m a jiu jitsu black belt. Jiu jitsu is what got my foot in the door but now I’m a complete fighter and don’t really favor any single style.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

I love New Jersey. I was born and bred here. MMA Pro League allows me to represent my state!”

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

It’s the diversity. Jersey is a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds. I believe this state breeds the toughest guys around.

TURPAL KHAMZAYEV

Weight Class: 130-pound Catchweight

Heimatstadt: Clifton, NJ

Why do you fight?

I fight because it’s in my blood. I was born to fight and that’s what I do best.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

Growing up as a kid I used to watch boxing, and some of the boxers I really enjoyed watching were Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and Prince Naseem Hamed. I also steal a little bit of everyone’s styles from different contact sports, because you can’t be a one-dimensional fighter in modern MMA.

What is your fighting background and style?

My fighting background is pretty much all aspects of contact sports. I’ve earned a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I have multiple grappling titles, multiple kickboxing/Muay Thai titles and three amateur MMA titles in two different promotions and in two different weight classes.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

MMA Pro League is the right fit for me because they are doing something new. It’s something that has not been done before, having two states compete against each other to see who wins. It is also a little different from other promotions because in other promotions you just go and fight for yourself, but in MMA Pro League you have a whole state behind you, and all the pressure is on you because you don’t want to let your team down.

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

My favorite thing about New Jersey is that we always bring the heat in any competition against anyone.

KEVIN SEARS

Weight Class: Schwergewicht

Heimatstadt: Newark, NJ

Why do you fight?

There’s a lot of different reasons why I fight. The first reason was because I was a fan. I love the sport and entertainment, but the real reason why I fight is for my daughter and to show her you can chase your dreams and be great at something you’re passionate about.

I visited the UFC Expo at the first one they had in Las Vegas. It was a totally life-changing experience. I was just a fan of UFC and MMA, but when I went down there I knew that I was destined to be a fighter, gladiator and a badass.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

My favorite fighter more recently was Kimbo Slice, may he rest in peace. I did have a favorite fighter growing up, and yes, it was the one and only Georges St-Pierre. If it wasn’t ‘GSPthen it was Tito Ortiz, just some all-around badass dudes.

Nowadays I really don’t follow fighting, but if I had to say my favorite active fighter fighting now, it’s definitely Jose Aldo. I’m an old school UFC guy from back in the day. Now I just see competition.

What is your fighting background and style?

My fighting style is just brawl and cause damage in there. I really don’t have a style. I go in there and try to get the job done even if it’s sloppy. You could say I’m emulating Kimbo combined with a wrestler.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

MMA Pro League is for me because it’s my next challenge and I can’t wait.

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

My favorite thing about New Jersey is my Aunt Denise, my grandma and my cousin Jazz. They lived in Newark most of their lives. Those are my people.

MARK KOLKER

Weight Class: Weltergewicht

Heimatstadt: Mobile, AL

Why do you fight?

I like to fight because fighting is one of the few things in life I’m truly passionate about and gives me purpose. Also fighting provides the opportunity for a better life.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

I don’t really emulate any one fighter. I try to pick up as much as I can from different fighters and coaches and mix them into my game.

What is your fighting background and style?

I am a mixed martial artist and have been fighting as an amateur and professional for four years now.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

I am excited to fight for MMA Pro League because it is a well-run organization, and the opportunity to fight on their first show in Atlantic City seems like a great opportunity.

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

I am not from New Jersey although I train there. I am representing Mobile, Alabama. My favorite thing about Mobile is that on the coast we are a family, and we are eager to show the talent we have on the Gulf Coast.

SHAN CELIA

Weight Class: Federgewicht

Heimatstadt: Wayne, NJ

Why do you fight?

I fight for many reasons. I have a lot of passion for this sport and am looking to become the best.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

My favorite fighter other than myself would have to be Muhammad Ali because of the impact he had around the world. I wish to do the same one day, in my own way. I watch many fighters and am always studying combat, taking techniques from all the greats in all combat sports.

What is your fighting background and style?

I started in full on MMA, not one specific background.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

MMA Pro League is the right fit for me because they are professionals and take it seriously just like me.

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

My favorite thing about New Jersey is most people from here are blue collar, hard-working people, and it pushes me to chase my dreams.

FRANCISCO MUNIZ

Weight Class: 140-pound Catchweight

Heimatstadt: Caguas, Puerto Rico

Why do you fight?

Because I have a huge chip on my shoulder.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

I don’t have a favorite fighter, I just try to be me.

What is your fighting background and style?

Brazilian jiu jitsu is my style.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

Because they’re giving me a shot that I’m worthy of.

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

It’s close to so many great things, like New York.

GABRIEL RUIZ

Weight Class: Bantamgewicht

Heimatstadt: Woodland Park, NJ

Why do you fight?

I fight because I love to compete and the rush of going out there to the cage and being the best man of the night.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

My favorite fighter is Rich Franklin. I kind of got my style from him. I just go out and fight and put my heart out there.

What is your fighting background and style?

I have an all-around background, but I love to stand up. I feel comfortable anywhere though.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

MMA Pro League is the right fit for me because we are taken care of and it has a lot of benefits that people are going to see both immediately and over time.

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

My favorite thing in New Jersey is the people. We’re Jersey strong. Auch, the food is great here.

MIKE PAGANO

Weight Class: Federgewicht

Heimatstadt: Stanhope, NJ

Why do you fight?

I fight because when I was growing up I was picked on and bullied a lot. I had to learn how to stand up for myself. Auch, later on in my youth I had to take care of my father who was very sick with brain cancer, which took his life in 2008.

Seeing my father go through his daily battles and frustrations made me realize I could overcome anything in life. My father was and will always be my hero. He was one of the toughest, stubbornest, hardest workers I had the pleasure of knowing and had the pleasure of calling my dad. Each time I step into that cage I know he`s with me.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

My favorite fighter, or fighters if I could merge them together, would have to be Georges St-Pierre, Dominick Cruz, Mike Tyson and Buakaw Banchamek. As far as emulating their styles, each has something I like within their fighting styles or fighter I.Q., but for me I like to be my own fighter. I never want to be a paper cut out version of someone else. That`s the beautiful thing about MMA, all these different styles can mesh into one and you can create your style how you want.

What is your fighting background and style?

I`m a wrestler, boxer and black belt in jiu jitsu under SeanShorty RockSantella.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

I feel MMA Pro League is the right fit for me because they are starting their own chapter in MMA and I love being a part of it! I like the concept as far as team versus team and the way you can collect points for your team by either KO/TKO, Submission, or Decision. It definitely makes a fighter want to push harder for that big win!”

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

The Pizza!”

JUSTIN OSBORN

Weight Class: Leicht

Heimatstadt: Mobile, AL

Why do you fight?

It’s what I love to do. This is what comes naturally to me. I was born to fight, plain and simple.

Do you have a favorite fighter or someone you try to emulate?

I’m trying to emulate the best Justin Osborn possible.

What is your fighting background and style?

Wrestling is my style.

Why is MMA Pro League the right fit for you?

They are giving me a cage to fight in and an opponent to fight. I’m here to fight my heart out and they are giving me a platform to do so.

What is your favorite thing about New Jersey?

I’ve never been on the East Coast before, so I’m looking forward to experiencing it.

Here is what a group of current and former welterweight fighters had to say about the Garcia vs. Porter world title showdown:

Sugar Ray Leonard, Hall of Fame & Former Unified Welterweight World Champion

I feel the Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter fight has the makings of an exciting fight from what I’ve seen of both of these talented fighters. So here is my prediction based on what I feel both fighters bring into the ring

Garcia will win if he uses his jab to keep Porter at bay and off balance, but Porter gains a victory if he connects and hurts Garcia early and makes him abandon his boxing ability and fight like a sluggeras I did with my first fight vs Roberto Duran.

This is how I see this matchup which should be an exciting fight!”

ERROL SPENCE JR., Unbeaten IBF Welterweight World Champion

I definitely want to fight the winner of Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter. That’s a close fight. I always picked against Danny Garcia in the past, and he always proved me wrong. Shawn Porter’s always a tough fight, because he’s going to come forward and give it his all. He’s basically trying to mug you. Aber für diesen Kampf, it’s hard to go against Danny Garcia. I pick Danny Garcia to win a split decision.

Keith Thurman, WBA-Weltmeister im Weltergewicht; Former Unified Champion

I honestly love this fight, and I consider it a tremendous battle and one of the best matchups of the year. Für mich, having fought both of them, I do believe that each is capable of hurting the other and getting one another out of there.

I know most fans are going to lean toward Danny Garcia with his knockout power and the potential for that. Then there is Shawn, who’s got a decent punch, even though he focuses on his output more than his one-punch solid blow and has it in his arsenal to hurt Danny Garcia.

I wouldn’t bet on Shawn getting the knockout, but I would on Shawn getting the victory, simply because of his output. I think Danny’s only chance of winning is by knockout, but even as a gambling man, I can’t put my money on Danny getting it. I’m taking Shawn Porter by decision.”

Manny Pacquiao, Multiple-Time Welterweight World Champion

I’m going to give the edge to Danny Garcia. They’re both gritty fighters, but I think Garcia is a little more technical with a little more ring generalship. Es sollte ein großer Kampf werden, and there’s a possibility of me fighting the winner, but we’ll have to see what happens.

Mikey GARCIA, Four-Division World Champion

I think this is a very good matchup. Shawn Porter is the kind of athlete who is always bringing the fight to you with pressure and volume punching. They both come to fight and they can both take it and dish it out.

Danny Garcia can use his skills to box on the outside and work from a distance. I think Danny will be able to box a little more and win more of the tight rounds in a very close fight. I’m not sure if it will be a split-decision or a unanimous decision. I believe that Danny will use more of those tactics to win an exciting decision.

JORDENIS UGAS, Top Welterweight Contender

I have much respect for Shawn Porter, and I think it will be a great fight but, Danny Garcia has more technique and he’s also faced and beaten better opponents than Porter. I am leaning toward Danny Garcia to pull off the victory.

Robert Guerrero, Former Multiple Division World Champion

This will be a very entertaining fight for the fans. I can see Danny putting up a good fight, but Porter is going to make the fight rough, and Garcia doesn’t like those type of fights. I’m going with Porter to win by split decision.”

Victor Ortiz, Der ehemalige Weltmeister im Weltergewicht

“Ich denke, es wird ein rasantes Kampf werden. Shawn will be pushing forward, making it rough on Danny, and Danny will be trying to control the distance. I’m going with Danny, giving him the slight edge and saying he wins by a decision.”

JAMAL JAMES, Weltergewicht Anwärter

It’s a good one. Shawn is busier than Danny, more active and carries a lot of momentum when he fights. But that’s not always a good thing because Garcia has power with his timing, he might be able to catch Porter coming in. I’m thinking that Shawn Porter pulls it off. ”

BRANDON RIOS, Ex-Weltmeister & Welterweight Title Challenger

That’s a really tough fight to predict. If Danny can counter really well and keep Shawn Porter off of him while Porter’s coming in, then I see Danny stopping him.

But if Shawn Porter is able to pressure Danny like he usually does, I don’t see Shawn Porter stopping Danny, or anything, but I see him winning by split-decision if he can be in his chest all night long. But if Porter gets nailed with one of those left hooks or a straight right hand, I say Porter goes down. I’m going to go with Danny because he knocked me out.”

BRYANT PERRELLA, Weltergewicht Aussicht

It could come down to how well Shawn Porter can take Danny Garcia’s punches in a fight that’s really hard to predict, and how well Danny can move, given that he’s not known for having fast feet similar to a guy like Keith Thurman.

But if Shawn can get close and smother Danny’s punches, he will make it a difficult fight. But Danny’s got really heavy hands and sits on his shots well, timing and counter-punching guys, so Porter could play into his hands.

Based off of clean, effective hard shots and giving him the edge in the close, competitive rounds, I’m leaning toward Danny Garcia. Shawn is tough as nails, so I see it going the distance, but just the slight edge to Danny.

SAMMY VASQUEZ JR., Weltergewicht Anwärter

I’m going with Shawn Porter. Not by stoppage, but Shawn creates too much pressure and Danny Garcia doesn’t throw enough punches and doesn’t deal with pressure. You saw that when he fought Guerrero, who wasn’t looking too bad in that fight.

Danny can win by knockout if he catches Shawn with that hook, but Shawn’s a workhorse and he puts forth far more pressure than I think Danny’s ever seen in a fight. Shawn may not be susceptible to it if he doesn’t have the proper head movement, but I believe that he will.
