(On the importance of this fight)

“I don’t like to make predictions too much; boxing is an unpredictable sport and it’s hard to say what will happen. Anything can happen on June 11. We’ve got a little bit to wait and we’ll see what happens.

“I definitely like the guys that come to fight. For me that is a better, more enjoyable fight. I like to fight a guy that wants to brawl.

“Lan June 11, I’ll be ready for anything that can happen in the ring. I’ve been watching previous fights and correcting my mistakes and I’ll be ready for anything he decides to bring.”

(On not fighting for eight months)

“I don’t see too much of a negative side to that. I just wanted some time off and now I’m ready to come back. I’m always in shape; I’m always in the gym, always training.

“I’m training all the time and always moving around even when I’m at home. Maintenant, training camp is going very well. Joel Diaz is very happy with training and he says everything is going a lot better than the last training camp. Everything is 100 pour cent. I’m not worried at all.”

(On his relationship with trainer Joel Diaz)

“I am really excited. Ruslan is a hell of a fighter and competitor. I think it’s a can’t-miss, all-action fight when you have someone like myself and Ruslan in there.

“Stylistically I think there are thing that I have to my advantage. Stature-wise: my height, my reach. Mais cela étant dit, when the fight starts, all of that is going to go out the window and we’re going to fight.

“We were both in Fights of the Year, but we were both on the losing ends. Now we want to be on the winning end. I think that is an unwritten motivation for both of us.

Pour moi, I didn’t have an extensive amateur career so the pros were, in essence, my amateur career. But I believe I’m at the right spot right now, where I need to be to hit my stride.

“Of course a victory is always the goal. I don’t like to lose at checkers and I don’t want to lose at boxing. To keep the lifestyle that I have going, I have to continue to be victorious and move forward.

I’m not content with getting in these fights because people love to watch me fight. “This is the most important fight for me because the WBC title has been my dream since the first day I went to the gym. I will be the new champion.

“I was always the underdog in every fight but now I don’t get underestimated. My opponent is going to get the best me on June 11. I think those who underestimated me were wrong all along, but I will put some good shots on him and he’ll go down. I will knock him out.

“I think they [les fans] will cheer for me like I am a home fighter and I will do my best to bring the good fight.”

“He’s a boxer. He’s smart, but he has no power. He will try to box, keep a distance and use his height advantage. He will use his footwork to keep me at bay, but it won’t work.”

Un vrai guerrier de la route qui est extrêmement grand pour un poids moyen junior de 6 pieds 3 pouces, Nelson (25-2-1, 15 KO) a affronté et vaincu de nombreux prétendants au cours de sa carrière de 10 ans. Se battre une seule fois 2015, le natif de Cleveland a bouleversé Tony Harrison, espoir des poids moyens juniors très estimé et invaincu, avec un KO au neuvième Juillet 11 à Tampa, Floride. Dans son premier début de 2016, Nelson a arrêté Jonathan Batista au deuxième tour en mars 25.

 

Les autres noms notables que Nelson a vaincus incluent John Jackson, Luciano Cuello, Michael Medina et Yudel Jackson. Sur Octobre 14, 2014, Nelson a échoué contre Martirosyan, perdre une décision très disputée en 10 rounds sur SHOWTIME.

Le joueur de 39 ans s'est battu deux fois en 2015, un TKO de septième round de Gyorgy Mizsei Jr., pour la ceinture européenne des poids légers et une décision unanime en 12 rounds sur Gamaliel Diaz pour le titre d'argent de 135 livres de la WBC.

TAMPA (Juillet 9, 2015) – Deux jours avant leurs combats primetime, combattants télévisés surPremier Champions de boxe sur ESPN mené une conférence de presse finale avant leurSamedi, Juillet 11 combats à USF Sun Dome à Tampa.

 

Alors que les principaux participants à l'événement Keith “Une Fois” Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) et Luis Collazo (36-6, 19 KOs) étaient calme et concentré discuter de leur titre mondial combat, Tony Harrison (21-0, 18 KOs) et Willie Nelson (23-2-1, 13 KOs) lancé jabs verbales à l'autre au cours de la partie officielle de la conférence de presse et à travers leurs face-offs.

“Je ai eu un grand camp et je suis sûr que Keith a trop. Ceci est un combat, vous devez être prêt pour, non seulement physiquement mais mentalement aussi bien.

 

“Je ne suis pas ici pour un document. Je viens ici pour gagner et ramener cette ceinture retour à Brooklyn.

 

“Je suis un problème à un grand nombre de combattants à cause de mon style.

 

“Je me bats pour inspirer tous les enfants qui ont été comptés avant qu'ils ont même donné une chance. Je veux toujours aider ceux qui ont été compté.

 

“Je ai eu beaucoup d'expérience à venir dans la ville natale de mon adversaire et il peut être difficile d'avoir des gens contre vous. Mais à la fin de la lutte qu'ils pourraient être avec vous.”

“Il n'y a rien comme le fond je viens. Il n'y a pas lieu comme Detroit. Tout le monde sait ce que je mettre dans le ring.

 

“Je dois ce qu'il faut pour frapper Willie Nelson sur. Tout le monde sait qu'il a un menton de verre. Je vais là-bas pour l'exploiter.

 

“Je ai eu un grand camp d'entraînement et je remercie mon équipe pour que. Ce combat est un défi pour moi et voilà pourquoi je l'ai pris. Toute personne qui hauteur à ce poids est un défi pour tout le monde.

 

“Je suis impatient de me battre et je suis impatient de relever le défi. Il ne suffit pas de simplement battre Willie Nelson, Je dois l'assommer. Le défi est de bien paraître et de voler la vedette à ce grand événement principal.”

“Je suis le plus jeune de huit enfants. Je ai été élevé par ma soeur. La saleté avait plus de valeur que ma vie à des moments. Je dois quatre enfants, Je ne vais pas laisser ce gars me battre et de prendre de la nourriture hors de leur plaque.

 

“Combien de fois dois-je prouver que tout le monde mal? Je vais le faire, encore une fois, Samedi nuit.

 

“Je voulais obtenir Tony pompée jusqu'à aujourd'hui et obtenir de lui hors de son plan de match donc nous pouvons capitaliser sur la nuit de lutte. Ça a marché, Je l'avais même son équipe fired up. Je suis donc très confiant, il est à la lutte.”

“Nelson a beaucoup de coeur. Je ne le sous-estimer. Je viens en en pleine forme. Je faisais des choses que je ne fais pas normalement dans la formation. Je suis allé nager pour ce camp. Nous savons ce que nous sommes contre.

 

“Il a le cœur d'un champion. Il a été renversé avant, mais il se relève et commence à battre à nouveau, de sorte que nous savons que nous sommes face à un véritable combattant dur.

 

“Je suis prêt à affronter un gars de ce calibre pour une longue période. Je l'ai été sparring Gennady Golovkine, Andy Lee, K9, et Luis Collazo. Je suis allé avec des champions avant même je suis passé pro. Je suis allé dans le meilleur et fait ce que je devais faire contre eux.

“Tony sait comment utiliser sa taille dans le ring, mais je suis un combattant de haut de sorte qu'il ne sera pas capable de faire ça contre moi. Il est un cogneur, voilà ce qu'il essaie de faire.

 

“Je canalise toute de la conversation qu'il fait. Je suis très motivé et je sais ce que je dois faire là-bas. Je ne peux pas mettre en colère contre ses pitreries, car qui ne fait rien pour moi.

 

“Je veux être un des boxeurs les succès de l'Ohio qui fait vraiment quelque chose. Je veux faire ma marque dans l'Ohio et pas seulement la boxe, mais la période la boxe.

 

“Cela ne veut pas le combat le plus dur de ma carrière, mais il est le défi le plus difficile, va contre un jeune, gars invaincu. Tous mes combats ont été difficiles, donc je suis habitué.

 

“Je suis très heureux d'être sur une telle grosse carte, mais je suis habitué maintenant. Les lumières ne reçoivent pas de moi. PBC a été excellent pour le sport car tout le monde peut accorder dans ces combats.”

 

Antonio Tarver JR.

 

“Je me suis entraîné avec le champion du monde Keith Thurman et je tenais mon propre là. Ça a été une grande expérience.

 

“Il est une belle chose à se battre dans mon pays d'origine. Je suis béni de se battre au Sun Dome.

 

“Mon père a toujours raison dans mon oreille. Toujours sur moi au sujet de la défense et de me protéger dans l'anneau.

 

“Je suis un gaucher qui est un frappeur rapide. Je peux frapper coup de poing et le compteur. Je pense que de moi-même que l'ensemble du paquet.”
