NORWALK, comme. (Octobre 21, 2019) – Undefeated former champion Brian Carlos Castaño will look to further cement his place in the 154-pound division when he battles exciting veteran contender Wale “Garçon Chanceux” Omotoso in a 10-round super welterweight showdown that headlines FS1 PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes Saturday, Novembre 2 from MGM National Harbor in Maryland.

Castaño most recently fought in a standout back and forth title match against Erislandy Lara in March that ended in a split-draw. With a win on November 2, the unbeaten Argentine will put himself in position for either a rematch with Lara or one of the other standouts in the stacked division.

Here is what Castaño had to say from training camp at Legends Gym in Norwalk, California with his head trainer and father Carlos as he discussed his showdown against Omotoso, his most recent fight, future matchups and more:

What are you looking to show to the rest of this division in the fight against Omotoso?

“As I do in every fight, I try to prove that I belong among the best in the division. I may no longer be a world champion, but I still feel I am a world champion because I didn’t lose in the ring. Si, I want to show against Omotoso and the world that I’m ready for everyone.”

What do you know about Omotoso’s style and what kind of fight can fans expect?

“He is a warrior that always comes straight forward to fight. He has proven many times that he can take punches and compete with anyone. Since I´m a warrior too, I think the fans are going to be in for an exciting war.”

What did you think of the decision in the Lara fight? Did you believe you did enough to win the fight?

“Even though I know it was a competitive fight, I know I did enough to get the win. I respect Lara as a great champion, but you cannot win fights of that level by only backpedaling all the time. I applied the pressure and connected with great punches, so I saw myself as the winner.”

Is the rematch with Lara the fight you want with a win on November 2?

“I thought I was going to have the rematch with Lara already but he probably didn’t want it. First things first, I have a tough challenge in front of me in Omotoso and I never underestimate anybody. I have to beat him in convincing fashion in order to earn another world title shot, either with Lara or any of the other top fighters in the division.”

How does it feel to be sharing a card with another one of Argentina’s best fighters, Jésus Cuellar (who fights Javier Fortuna in the co-main event)? Is there added inspiration because Argentina will be so represented on the telecast?

“It’s always a great honor to represent Argentina in the U.S., which is the mecca of boxing. To share the card with a guy like Cuellar, whom I’ve known well since our times together on Argentina’s national team in the amateurs, will definitely be something meaningful. I know we’re both working hard to make our country proud on November 2.”

BROOKLYN (Août 4, 2019) – Unbeaten Polish star and Brooklyn native Adam Kownacki (20-0, 15 KOs) earned a unanimous decision over Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola (38-6-1, 33 KOs) in an all-action brawl in front of his hometown fans that headlined FOX PBC Fight Night main event and on FOX Deportes Saturday night from Barclays Center, la maison de BROOKLYN BOXE ™.

Kownacki and Arreola set the CompuBox heavyweight record for combined punches landed and thrown in a heavyweight fight. They landed a combined 667 poinçons, besting the previous record of 650, while throwing 2,172 poinçons, far surpassing the previous mark of 1,730.

“Chris is an Aztec warrior,” ledit Kownacki. “Il est un grand combattant. I knew it would be a tough fight and I prepared for it. The CompuBox numbers prove it was a great fight.”

“Adam is relentless,” Saïd Arreola. “He just keeps coming. I know I got him with some good punches and he got me with some good ones. I was more than ready to go all 12, but Adam came in and won the fight.”

The action began right from the first bell, as Kownacki charged at Arreola and immediately began exchanging as both men threw power punches in bunches. Kownacki worked off of his jab to initiate his offense, while Arreola was effectively able to counter his hard-charging opponent and respond every time he was hit with a combination.

“I thought it was a good close fight but I knew I pulled it out,” ledit Kownacki. “I landed a lot of shots and that was enough to win. That’s all that matters.”

Kownacki stunned Arreola in the early moments of round two but Arreola quickly responded to slow Kownacki’s momentum. Arreola found more and more success with his overhand right as the fight went, landing the punch numerous times in the fourth and fifth round especially.

Round six was a back and forth affair that featured a big offensive surge from Kownacki early in the round, before an exciting exchange at the end of the round saw both men take heavy punches.

“I tried to follow up when I had him hurt but I was throwing two punches instead of three or four,” ledit Kownacki. “Props to Arreola because he proved he could still hang. I’m sure the fans would want to see him again.”

The middle rounds saw Arreola pick up a hand injury, but it didn’t appear to slow him down much as his punch output continued to be strong for the second half of the fight. For Kownacki, it was his first time going past 10 rounds as a pro.

After the punches continued to fly through the last bell, the two heavyweights embraced in the ring prior to hearing the judges’ scores. Après 12 tours, all three judges saw the fight in favor of Kownacki, par des dizaines de 117-11 deux fois et 118-110.

“Retirement is something I need to talk to my family and team about,” Saïd Arreola. “I gave it my all this fight. I let it all hang out. After breaking my hand, I kept fighting because I believed I could win.”

The co-main event saw former world champion Jean Pascal (34-6-1, 20 KOs) earn a narrow technical decision over previously unbeaten Marcus Browne (23-1, 16 KOs) to capture the WBA interim light heavyweight title after an accidental headbutt ended the fight in round eight.

Browne looked to have regained control of the fight until late in round seven when Pascal again connected on a powerful right hook that caught Browne during an exchange. Pascal jumped on Browne after he got to his feet and knocked him down a third time right before the bell ended round seven.

Montreal’s Pascal was looking to finish Browne in round eight, while Browne looked to effectively navigate the ring while recovering from the previous round. It was midway through the round that Pascal hit Browne with an accidental headbutt on the ropes that opened a cut over Browne’s left eye.

Referee Gary Rosato halted the bout 1:49 dans la ronde, on the advice of the ringside physician, meaning the fight went to the scorecards. By winning the shortened eighth round on all three judges’ cartes, Pascal won the fight by the score of 75-74 trois fois.

“I could hear my daughter ringside and that was motivation for me,” ledit Pascal. “She was yelling my name all night long. I’m going to go home and talk to my team to see what is next. Canada has Drake, the NBA Champions and now I’m bringing the belt home.”

Browne was unavailable for post fight comments as he was taken to NYU Lutheran Medical Center due to the cut.

The opening bout on FOX saw Wale Omotoso (28-4, 22 KOs) drop Curtis Stevens(30-7, 22 KOs) three times on his way to a third round stoppage victory in their super welterweight clash.

For Stevens it was his first fight at 154-pounds, and he was tested at the new weight from the outset. Omotoso began moving and jabbing around the ring as Stevens stalked him and tried to throw power punches to slow his movement. Late in the first round, Omotoso broke through with a right hand to the side of Stevens’ head that dropped him in the middle of the ring.

“My coach told me to keep my hands up, be patient, box him and jab,” said Omotoso. “He told me I shouldn’t push it and that when the opening was there, Je le prendrais. That’s exactly what happened.”

“He hit me with an overhand right in the first round that knocked my equilibrium,” said Stevens. “But that didn’t really affect me too much. I wasn’t stepping enough into my punches, I was reaching. I got caught when I was reaching.”

In round two Omotoso landed a perfect jab on Stevens, as his opponent was throwing a left hook, that sent him down for the second time in the fight. Stevens again made it through the round, and began the next frame trapping Omotoso in the corner and connecting on power punches.

“I was just letting my hands go,” said Omotoso. “On the second knockdown my confidence grew. I was glad to get the victory by knockout.”

While Stevens was able to own the early moments of the third round, Omotoso hit him with a three punch combo that featured left hook, left uppercut and then straight right hand that put Stevens down for the third time. Stevens got to his feet but referee Johnny Callas halted the bout at 1:28 de la troisième ronde.

“I was okay but the referee has to do his job,” said Stevens. “I was down three times so I know he was looking out for my best interests.”

“I didn’t expect it to go exactly like that,” said Omotoso. “I was just listening to my coach. The second knockdown was actually with my jab. I have to talk to my team about what’s next. I’m thankful for this opportunity. I’m so happy to have this win. Give me anybody next, Je suis prêt.”

“This is one of my dreams coming true. Since the amateurs I’ve wanted to fight at Barclays Center and on Saturday night I’m the main event. I couldn’t be more excited

“I’ve been pushed hard in training camp and I can’t wait to show everyone all of my work on Saturday. The key is going to be jabbing in and throwing my punches in bunches like I always do.

“This is a new experience for me being the headliner, but in the ring it doesn’t matter. It’s just two guys fighting each other. We both love to fight. I can’t wait to get it over with and punch him in the face.

“Chris Arreola is a warrior. You always know that when Chris fights, it’s a good fight. But I’m going to test how much he has left in the gas tank. Chris has been in there with three champions and when I take care of business on Saturday, I’ll be one step closer to being world champion.

“It’s truly a great feeling to have all this support from my fans here. These fans are trusting me to bring the title back to Brooklyn and to Poland.

“Barclays Center has been my boxing home. J'ai hâte de monter sur le ring. This is a tough fight and I have to make sure I send the fans home happy.

JEAN PASCAL

“Marcus has been saying that he’s going to go in there and try to knock me out, but I’m no amateur. I know what his game plan is going to be. He’s going to run around the ring and try to hold. We all know he’s the best at running like a chicken.

“When I was Marcus’ âge, I was already a world champion. He was watching me on TV when he was at the Olympics.

“How is he going to knock me out? I think without the cut that Badou Jack had in their fight, he would have knocked Marcus out.

“I decided that I’d go down to 154-pounds because my camp has a lot of the top 160-pound fighters so we were getting in each other’s way. There are a lot of opportunities for me in this weight class as well.

“No matter what has happened in my career, I have always come back. I’m mentally always ready to bounce back. I’ve had layoffs in my career, but I know that I’m going to get where I need to be.

“Nobody calls me out because they know I can punch. I’m too risky for the top fighters because they know there’s a chance they get knocked out.

“It’s incredible to have this opportunity to fight at Barclays Center for the first time. It’s going to be a good time for me and all the fans.”

“I’m not worried about Stevens being at a new weight. I don’t think it’s going to affect him that much. Samedi, we’re both going to do our best to get the win.

“He’s a big puncher who brawls. But I’m a big puncher too. He’s been there and fought everybody, but I’m going to show the world what I can do.

“I think this is going to be a toe-to-toe fight. There might be some feeling out, but as the fight goes on and we get into the middle rounds, it’s going to be fought in the middle of the ring.

“I’ve trained well for this fight and had sparring with lots of different fighters. The different styles that I’ve seen throughout camp will have me prepared for anything Stevens shows me on Saturday night.”

Now residing in Miami, the 32-year-old carried a seven-fight winning streak before losing to Dominic Breazeale in December on FOX. He will look to bounce back in his 2019 débuts sur mai 25. It’s a show that has something for everyone that attends at Beau Rivage or tunes in to FS1 and FOX Deportes.”

Truite (31-5, 17 KOs) has tangled with some of the top super welterweights of this generation, including Saul Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Miguel Cotto, Jermell and Jermall Charlo and Jarrett Hurd. The 33-year-old from Las Cruces, Mexique, will look to rebound from a majority decision defeat to Jermell Charlo last June. His knockout victory over Joey Hernandez in 2015 headlined the first PBC show on FS1.

“I’m excited to be back in the ring,” dit Trout. “I’m ready to take another chop at the world title and this is my way back. I’m really motivated to get that championship belt again. Gausha is a strong, technical fighter with an Olympic pedigree. I’ve got to get in there and take care of him and look good doing it. A good win over him will get me right back in the mix.”

The 31-year-old Gausha (21-1, 10 KOs), a member of the 2012 U.S.. Olympic boxing team from Cleveland, Ohio, will look to put himself back into title contention with a victory over Trout. He came up short in his first title fight against Erislandy Lara, losing a unanimous decision in 2017, before rebounding with a knockout victory over Joey Hernandez in his last fight in December.

“I feel good about this fight and I think it’s the perfect fight for me,” said Gausha. “With Austin Trout being a former champion and having experience fighting all the top guys in the division, it gives me a chance to show where I’m at. It’s not only about winning, but it’s the way I’ll win that will put people on notice.”

Booker (14-0, 7 KOs) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Juan De Angel in January on FS1. The 27-year-old southpaw from Stamford, Connecticut, was busy in 2018, aller 5-0 avec trois KO. Now training in Los Angeles, Omotoso most recently defeated Freddy Hernandez in December 2017.

“I got the call to fight a young, undefeated fighter in Booker and I said bring it on,” said Omotoso. “I’m really happy he took the fight because most people say I’m too dangerous and too tough. I will give it all I got. When I go to the ring I put all my effort and training into the fight. That’s the way this sport is. I know he’s going to come in with all he’s got, but the toughest man will win.”

Stanionis (8-0, 5 KOs) is from Kaunas, Lithuania and was a member of the 2016 Lithuanian Olympic boxing team. “He was throwing some wild shots. I just had to adjust to that. I felt like my defense was good on the inside.
“His shots were coming wide, and I was catching those from the inside. The second half of the fight I definitely came on hard and was putting on pressure. We waited so long that I think it might have had a little effect on my energy.
“I thought I out boxed him ce soir and deserved the decision. I believe that it was close, so I have no problem with the judges ruling it a split decision, mais je gagné.
“I’d definitely fight him again. I have to be able to beat guys like him, and in better fashion, if I want to be a champion.”

LAS VEGAS (Juin 21, 2015) – Rances “Explosion Kid” Barthélemy (23-0, 13 KOs) dominé et a chuté Antonio DeMarco (31-5-1, 23 KOs) sur son chemin à un large unanime de 10 rounds décision sur Premier Champions de boxe sur CBS Dimanche après-midi au MGM Grand Garden Arena en tant que promoteur de l'événement et président de Promotions Mayweather Floyd “Argent” Mayweather regardé de la première rangée.

 

Barthélemy était forte à ses débuts 140 livres, palier avec sa main gauche sous tous les angles, y compris un direct du gauche qui a frappé DeMarco dans le quatrième tour. Barthelemy contrôlé le combat, ne jamais laisser le gaucher DeMarco à la rampe jusqu'à la pression ou atterrir quelque chose de significatif.

 

En dépit d'être déduit un point dans le neuvième round, Barthélemy a remporté par la marque de 99-89 sur les trois juges’ tableaux de bord.

 

Dans le premier match télévisé, Sammy “Le sergent” Vasquez (19-0, 13 KOs) était trop rapide et occupé pour la poings lourds Wale “Garçon Chanceux” Omotoso (25-2, 21 KOs) comme il a remporté une décision unanime de 10 rounds par les scores de 98-92 sur tous les tableaux de bord.

 

Vasquez a pris un départ rapide remportant les trois premiers tours en utilisant un style gaucher agressif pour fournir de nombreuses combinaisons à la tête et le corps. Omotoso a finalement été en mesure de ralentir Vasquez un peu avec une production offensive accrue et compteurs forts.

 

Malgré le sang coulait sur son visage, Vasquez a terminé en force pour se détacher. . Vasquez hors atterri Omotoso 162-134 à l'atterrissage 50 pour cent de ses coups de puissance, par CompuBox.

“Je travaillais très dur avec mon entraîneur pour se préparer à ce combat et que la préparation m'a aidé à attraper DeMarco dans le quatrième tour et je lui ai laissé tomber.

 

“Ma gauche m'a beaucoup aidé ce soir. Je suis resté fidèle à l'école cubaine de boxe, et quand je l'ai vu une ouverture, je jetai l'autre main pour le garder deviner.

 

“Je suis béni d'être dans cette position. Venant d'une éducation pauvre à Cuba à la lutte sur une carte PBC sur CBS est incroyable.

 

“Je veux Omar Figueroa prochaine. Ce serait comme une version moderne de Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo.”

 

ANTONIO DEMARCO

 

“Je l'attendais pour contrer et il a décroché un gauche forte au quatrième quand je descendis.

 

“Je me suis battu mon combat et mon style. On doit apprendre à gérer perdre, et il était tout simplement le meilleur combattant ce soir.

 

“Ce fut une belle occasion sur CBS, mais, malheureusement, nous ne sommes pas en mesure d'accomplir notre objectif.

 

“En ce moment je veux juste rentrer à la maison à ma famille. Je ne sais pas quelle est la prochaine. Je vais réfléchir à l'opportunité de prendre leur retraite ou continuer à se battre.”

 

SAMMY VASQUEZ

 

“Un concurrent difficile de Wale. Évidemment, je ne l'ai pas testé comme ça auparavant.

 

“Mon objectif était simplement de boîte de lui, se déplacer et ne pas laisser me frapper parce que je sais qu'il a la puissance que ses records spectacles. Il ne frappe un peu difficile, mais il est pas quelque chose que je ne l'ai pas vu avant.

 

“Je savais que je l'avais blessé dans la neuvième quand je connecté sur un tir de corps solide.

 

“Je porte Pittsburgh Monessen et sur mon dos. Je voudrais y être combats, mais Las Vegas est la Mecque de la boxe et tous les grands ont combattu ici. Je ai un style de combat excitant et je tiens à porter cela à mon adversaire comme je l'ai présentés aujourd'hui,. Je souhaite que je créé quelques plus de fans qui veulent me suivre.

 

“Avec tout le monde regarde sur CBS ce fut une opportunité incroyable pour moi et ma carrière. Je tiens à remercier tous les fans qui ont regardé pour aider à me développer ma base de fans.

 

“Il est impressionnant de se battre sur la Fête des Pères. Mon père a été mon épine dorsale dès le début. Je commencé la boxe parce que je devenais victime d'intimidation. Nous avons eu quelques luttes dans ce jeu, et tout ce que je suis passé par avec mes deux visites de l'Irak. Il a toujours été ma colonne vertébrale et je suis tellement béni de l'avoir dans mon coin.

 

“Je ne sais pas quelle est la prochaine encore. Je ne ai pas un adversaire spécifique à l'esprit et je ne veux pas appeler quelqu'un là-. Battre Wale était super, mais nous allons revenir à la planche à dessin et considérons qui est là-bas pour moi.”

“Je pensais qu'il était un combat de plus près, mais ce est les juges’ emploi. Ce fut un bon combat pour assurer.

 

“Je lui faisais du mal avec le jab gauche et certains droits durement. Voilà pourquoi il saignait.

 

“Il m'a attrapé avec une bonne droite, mais je suis pas vraiment blessé. Il est frappant avec sa gauche si et m'a gardé un peu hors d'équilibre.

 

“Ce fut une grande opportunité pour moi. Il était une grande exposition et les gens vont me connaître maintenant.

 

“Je vais me battre n'importe qui ils veulent mettre en face de moi.

 

“Je tiens à souhaiter la fête des pères heureuse à tous les pères là-bas et la fête des pères heureuse à mon fils. Je l'aime tellement.”
