Sometimes there are fights that just capture the Boxing World’s attention, Gatti-Ward, Ali-Frazier, Froch-Kessler, Holyfield-Bowe, Marquéz-Vazquéz etc that afterwards the fans go out of their way demanding a rematch and in some cases a trilogy or more as in the case of Marquéz-Vazquéz!


In each of the cases mentioned above these were prime time internationally broadcast events, however sometimes there’s a fight that slips under the radar of the majority of fans for one reason or another.


One such fight was the Ben McGivern versus Navid Iran ‘Fight of the Year’ nominated Battle Royale back in November last year, which was broadcast live only on Facebook.


Whilst it did pass under the radar of the majority of fans worldwide, it may surprise many readers to learn that after the first fight, so many boxing fans were lighting up Social Media calling for McGivern-Iran II, that Promoter Tommy Jacobs just couldn’t ignore them and so on the 22nd June at the Prince’s Theatre in Clacton-on-Sea these two warriors will enter the arena to battle it out once more, this time for the World Boxing Union (ZČU) International Crown.


Back in November McGivern-Iran, battled it out for the vacant Professional Boxing Council (PBC) Silver International Light Heavyweight title was the headline bout on Tommy Jacobs’ history making event, the first professional boxing event in Clacton-on-Sea since 1939, when Mike Kevan beat Charlie Mack.


Battled it out is the correct term; this was a Battle Royale of epic proportions.


Right from the off Iran took the fight to McGivern, backing the Scot onto the ropes and letting rip with a flurry of big left and rights. McGivern sensibly covered up and waited an opportunity to counter, which he did with good effect once the opportunity arose.


However it wasn’t enough to prevent Iran coming back with a similar forceful attack almost immediately. McGivern once again managed to counter and initially take control.


As the round progressed Iran landed a couple of cracking shots that again forced McGivern to cover up. Iran kept up the pressure with big shots, whilst McGivern caught many with his gloves some big rights got through the Scots guard, shaking him to the core.


How McGivern made it to the end of the round is unfathomable, his legs were well and truly gone, but somehow he did.


Round two see Iran come out hard and fast, however McGivern was ready for the assault, again initially covering up but this time instead of just countering and covering, he spun his opponent and went hard on the attack himself.


Round three see McGivern taking the fight to Iran, which led to some great technical boxing ensuing from both protagonists.


The next few rounds were fought in similar vein. The final round though was an out and out war; both boxers throwing caution to the wind and an all out slugfest ensued for the entire final three minutes – what an exhilarating round.


After eight fantastic rounds of boxing it was Ben McGivern declared victorious, but just who will reign victorious on the 22nd June.


Ben McGivern versus Navid Iran II, pro světovou Boxing Unie (ZČU) International Light Heavyweight Championship is the main support for Nathan Decastro versus Tommy Jacobs for the World Boxing Union (ZČU) and World Boxing Foundation Super Middleweight Championships that headlines the show.


Also on the card is a further Championship fight, one that pits St Albans’ Andy Hojdys against Latvia’s Dmitrijs Ovjannikovs for both the World Boxing League (WBL) International and European Boxing League (EBL) European Light Heavyweight titles.


In addition to the three Championship contests, there are also a number of International matches, the first featuring World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia-Pacific Champion, India’s Neeraj Goyat in an eight round non-championship bout against Tanzania’s Amos Mwamakula.


Ipswich’s unbeaten Super Middleweight prospect Rob Elden looks to keep a clean sheet and extend his tally of wins when he faces the highly experienced Nicaraguan hard-man Ronny McField in a six rounder.


Clacton-on-Sea’s undefeated Featherweight Ben ‘The Claxican’ Cook also seeks to increase his win tally, when he faces Pablo Narvaez, who also hails from Nicaragua, ve čtyřech kolech.


The final Pro bout features Dean Porter, who is eager to get back to winning ways, following his loss to Jack Jones last month.


Porter also faces a Nicaraguan, in this case former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) a World Boxing Rady (WBC) Youth World Title challenger Michael Isaac Carreo in a four round non-championship contest.

McGivern Secures Light Heavy Title the Hard Way at Historic Clacton-on-Sea Event.

On Saturday night at the Princess Theatre in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, Professional Boxing made a most welcome return to the seaside town after almost 80 léta, when Colchester’s Tommy Jacobs presented his latest boxing promotion, aptly titled ‘History’.

 

The previous pro boxing in the town, zpět v únoru 1939, see Ireland’s Mike Kavan beat London’s Charlie Mack at the then recently opened Butlin’s holiday camp.

 

Clacton is a town that’s steeped in boxing history, although since the second world war mainly of the Amateur variety, in fact Tommy Jacobs himself fought in the town on numerous occasions during his Amateur career and one of the greats of the sport is immortalized by the restaurant at the bowling alley on Clacton Pier, Armstrong’s, which is named after the American boxer John Henry Armstrong who beat British champion Ernie Roderick also in 1939.

 

It seemed rather appropriate that the very first of the pro boxing contests of this new era should feature the current World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International and European Champion, as well as promoter of the event, Tommy Jacobs, in a non-Championship six round contest against Dundalk, Ireland’s Michael Kelly.

 

Right from the opening bell Jacobs took to the fight to his highly experienced opponent, albeit with just tentative testing jabs, but as the round progressed the action became more full on, with Jacobs backing up Kelly on to the ropes before letting rip with slick combinations to body and head.

 

Kelly, a previous multi-title challenger in his own right, initially covered up and absorbed the shots but soon began to counter effectively.

 

More of the same early in the second, although must credit Kelly for his slick responses that prevented Jacobs from having quite the same level of success in the first stanza, however as the clock entered the final 20 seconds or so of the round Jacobs started letting rip with big shots to the body with increasing success, so much so that literally in the final seconds Kelly was forced to take a knee after a particularly vicious left.

 

Unfortunately Kelly struggled to catch his breath and rise to his feet in time to beat Referee Lee Murtagh’s count, official time of the stoppage being 2 Minutes and 56 Seconds of the second round.

 

Following the fight Tommy Jacobs announced that the reason he undertook a non-championship six rounder and not the originally planned WBF Intercontinental title fight against Albanian Xhuljo Vrenozi, was that he has been proposed to potentially challenge Australia’s two time World Champion Sam Soliman for the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) World title in December.

 

The second bout of the night see Dean Porter making his professional debut against Liverpool’s Steven Sunners (2-0-0).

What a cracking all action affair, from start to finish both lads really went for it hammer and tongs.

 

After four scintillating closely fought rounds it came as no surprise that the result was going to be close, and close it was, Referee Lee Murtagh’s scorecard reading 39-38 in favour of Liverpool’s Steven Sunners.

 

Next up was a four round Featherweight contest between Clacton’s very own Ben ‘The Claxican’ Cook and Belfast’s Chris Wong, both of whom were making their pro debuts.

 

The first couple of rounds, as with Porter-Sunners, were so closely fought that it wasn’t easy to call the winner of each round, however in the 3rd the decision was made a little easier after Cook landed a cracking body-shot late in the round to send the Irishman to his knees.

 

After four highly entertaining all action rounds Referee Lee Murtagh’s scorecard read 40-37 in favour of local hero Ben Cook.

 

As with the previous contest this was an all action thriller of epic proportions, so much so that it was without doubt it was the Fight of the Night.

 

Have to say really enjoyed this fight and hopefully after this pair get a few fights under their belts there’ll be a rematch as I would love to see these two in action against each other again, bylo to dobré.

 

The fourth fight of the night see Ipswich Super Middleweight Rob Elden making his pro debut against Liverpool’s Lee Cooper.

 

Elden started hard and fast, taking the fight to his more experienced foe and letting rip with big shots to body and head. Initially Cooper covered up but soon started countering with some big shots of his own, however in doing so left an opening in his defence that the Ipswich man was quick to capitalise on with a big right to the head to send Copper to the canvas.

 

Copper made it to his feet and action resumed in very much the same vein, with Elden backing Copper up before letting rip with big shots, Cooper once again responded with big shots of his own. As the round approached the second minute, once again Elden found a chink in Cooper’s armour and this time landed a big right to the body to send the Liverpudlian to the canvas for a second and final time. Official time of the stoppage was one minute and fifty-nine seconds of the first round.

 

The headline fight of the night see Hove’s Navid Iran and Scotland’s Ben McGivern battling it out for the vacant Professional Boxing Council (PBC) Silver International Light Heavyweight title.

Have to say whilst definitely the right result, the result just doesn’t convey just how close each and every round, but the first, byl. These two really put on a magnificent show and was a serious contender for the Fight of the Night award.

 

What a great event to welcome pro boxing back to Clacton-on-Sea after a close to eighty-year hiatus, a return clearly appreciated by fans of the pugilistic arts who had packed the historic venue to the hilt almost an hour before the event was scheduled to begin.

S teplotami stoupajícími do 30. let ve Velké Británii se zdálo, že většina země míří na pláže, nebo sledovat mistrovství světa, Avšak obrovské podmíněné fanoušci pugilistického umění měli na mysli větší a lepší věci a místo toho zamířili do Essexu pro Tommy Jacobs versus Bilal Mohammad World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Mezinárodní boj o titul, který měl být podporován Iain Weaver versus Emmanuel Addo Professional Boxing Council (PBC) Mezinárodní střet titulu v Charter Hall v Colchesteru.

 

 

 

 

Při jejich příjezdu však byli přivítáni se zprávami, které nejenže měly Jacobs’ Protivník byl na poslední chvíli změněn na Godwin Cudjoe, ale výše uvedený boj o titul PBC byl přepnut na deseti kulatou soutěž bez šampionů, ve které by Weaver místo toho čelil Ghanově Michaelovi Barnorovi, Protože ani Mohammad nebo Addo neobdrželi svá víza včas.

 

 

 

 

S charterovou halou doslova narazil na rutinu Ghana, Godwin Cudjoe, dostal se do ringu a od fanoušků obdržel velmi vřelé přivítání, Když však Jacobs začal jeho procházka prstenem, hladiny decibelů prošly střechou, Nepochybně to byl místní hrdina Jacobs, který přišli na podporu.

 

 

 

 

Hned od úvodního zvonu se Jacobs a Cudjoe přesunuli do středového prstenu a začali předběžně testovat druhou s řadou dobrých solidních úderů, pak kolem třiceti sekund Mark Jacobs nechte roztrhnout výbušnou pravou ruku k hlavě, který okamžitě podpořil další obrovský právo poslat ghanské navíjení dozadu.

 

 

 

 

Cudjoe se zpočátku zakryl před tím, než hodil velký pevný úder, Jacobs odpověděl v naturách, Než necháte roztrhnout se s jiným velkým právem. Cudjoe zakořenil za jeho údernou pravomocí, aby otevřel prostor pro výstřel z těla, Ale když jde hodit výstřel, Jacobs hodí další velký výstřel a začne tlačit Ghanaiana zpět k provazům.

 

 

 

 

S jeho mužem podloženým na lanech Jacobs vystoupil vpřed a nechal roztrhnout řadu velkých výstřelů, aby donutil Cudjoe přímo zpět do svého rohu, než pokračoval v roztržení s velkou levou a právy, vyvrcholení ve velkém právu na hlavu, která poslala velký Ghanaian na palubu.

 

 

 

 

Cudjoe se statečně pokusil dostat se na nohy, ale okamžitě klesl na jeho obžaloby, Zpočátku rozhodčí Lee Murtagh pokračoval v hrabě.

 

 

 

 

Po důkladné lékařské kontrole Cudjoe se zvedl na nohy, aby potlesk z davu, a poté se přesunul do středového prstenu včas na oznámení MC Výsledek a prezentaci mistrovství Belt Tommy Jacobs od Světového boxerského nadace pan David Murphy.

 

 

 

 

Oficiální doba zastavení byla jedna minuta a jedenáct sekund prvního kola.

 

 

 

Vedlejší poznámka k tomuto boji, Soudci boje o titul WBF byli bývalí Britové, Evropský a WBU mistr světa Wayne Alexander, Bývalý britský a Commonwealth těžký šampion Julius Francis a Ghana's Top International Championship a soudce Roger Barnor.

 

 

 

 

Jak je uvedeno výše, Ferndown, Dorset's Iain Weaver měl být vyzván k Emmanuelu Addo Ghana pro profesionální boxerské rady (PBC) Mezinárodní lehká koruna, Protože však Addo neobdržel své vízum včas na cestování do Velké Británie, Weaver místo toho musel být spokojený s nepochopitelem deseti kola proti pozdní náhradě Michael Barnor.

 

 

 

 

Oba boxeři se přestěhovali do středového prstenu na úvodním zvonu a začali vyměňovat testovací výstřely ve snaze zápasit, Zpočátku to byly jednotlivé výstřely, ale asi po dvaceti sekundách začal tkalce nechat své střely proudit, nechat roztrhnout kombinace na tělo a hlavu.

 

 

 

 

Barnor odpovídá, zdvojnásobil své údery a střílel pevná práva na tělo Angličana. Zpočátku Weaver ustoupí zpět dotek a pracuje za jeho prasknutím, Před zapnutím další kombinace bodnutí do těla a hlavy Ghanaiana.

 

 

 

 

Barnor hodí opatrnost na vítr a pokračuje na útok na všechny a hodí mocný úder. Tkaní tká a boby, aby se zabránilo přistání výstřelů, Předtím, než odpověděl dvojitě rukou.

 

 

 

 

Weaver pak pokračoval v odhození rukou ve snaze přitáhnout svého soupeře, což dělá, Před střelbou smyčujícího výstřelu do tváře dopředu pochodujícího Ghanaiana, Rychle následuje několik dalších solidních práv.

 

 

 

 

Barnor stále pochodoval za některými dobrými pevnými údery, Weaver však jen stál na zemi, než vypustil obrovské právo na hlavu. Barnor je však vyroben z přísnějších věcí, Nepostupoval, Jen se postavil na zem a vrátil se za jeho úder.

 

 

 

 

Oba protagonisté bojovali o kontrolu středového prstenu v podobném žíle na příští minutu až do konce kola.

 

 

 

 

Weaver začal a rychle s velkou kombinací, Barnor reaguje solidní prasknutí, Ale přitom zanechali nejmenší otvory, Weaver nepotřebuje druhé pozvání a nechá se roztrhnout s velkým právem k tělu, následoval dvojité právo na hlavu a obrovskou levou k tělu.

 

 

 

 

Barnor přežije nápor a vystoupí z několika vlastních výstřelů, Weaver jen prochází skrz ně a podporuje Ghanaian na provazy a pokračuje do pepperu Barnor s výstřely na tělo a hlavu.

 

 

 

 

Barnor se podaří otočit lana a visí prasknout; Weaver ho pronásleduje a hodí doprava, vlevo na hlavu, Příprava na tělo a levý háček k kombinaci hlavy. Barnor tká a kachny, aby se vyhnul další velké levici, Ale na stoupání byl konfrontován velkým senzačně rychlým dvojitým návalem výstřelů.

 

 

 

 

Barnor okamžitě reaguje s praskáním vlevo, správná kombinace jeho vlastní, Weaver pokrčí rameny a vstoupí do masivní levice na hlavě okamžitě následovanou masivní pravou pravou, Vlevo exocety do hlavy, která poslala Barnor narazilo na plátno.

 

 

 

 

Barnor začal stoupat na šestý počet bodů, ale když dělal nohy, jen složil a dolů šel znovu, Rozhodčí Lee Murtagh neváhal, Bál se na jednu minutu a čtyřicet devět sekund..

 

 

 

 

S potěšením mohu oznámit, že Michael Barnor byl naprosto v pořádku a dokonce se připojil k Iain Weaver v Center Ring pro oficiální oznámení o výsledku.

 

 

 

 

Na konci soutěže bylo oznámeno, že Iain Weaver versus Emmanuel Addo pro profesionální boxerské rady (PBC) Mezinárodní mistrovství se nyní bude konat v Aberdeenu 28. července.

 

 

 

 

Také na akci byla soutěž o čtyř kulatých welterweight, na kterou jsem se opravdu těšil na sledování a nahlášení, protože to představovalo nejmladšího profesionálního boxeru ve Velké Británii, Grantham's Max Brown, debutoval proti Marty Kayesovi z Belfastu.

 

 

 

 

Při mnoha příležitostech jsem viděl mladého Maxa Browna v akci a věřím, že má dovednosti a schopnost napodobovat další hvězdy, jako je Saul Alvarez (Canelo), který se obrátil v něžném věku a pokračoval v zabezpečení vyznamenání šampionátu.

 

 

 

 

Kayes, ostřílený pro, Na druhé straně byl v posledních několika měsících docela úspěšný, Zajištění dvou vítězství ve svých předchozích třech zápasech, Jedním z nich byl bojem o titul Masters a první z těchto vítězství byl přes nejlepší bývalou amatérskou hvězdu, což mi jasně ukázalo, že mladý Brown byl určen pro skutečný křest ohně, To, co jsem si neuvědomil, bylo, jak moc.

 

 

 

 

Nebudu psát kolo o kulaté zprávě o boji, Jen přehled, protože velká část akce v celém boji byla v podobném žíle.

 

 

 

 

Hnědý boxoval jeho normální úhled, Box dlouhý styl, zatímco Kayes přilepil na to, co dělá nejlépe – tlačit na jeho soupeře.

 

 

 

 

Brown se soustředil na využití svého úderu, docela dobrý vliv na začátku každého kola, Ale jak se zdálo, že kola postupovala, zavěsila tam prasknutí, ale ve skutečnosti ne. Když mladík nechal ruce jít, přistál několik senzačních výstřelů, prostě ne dost.

 

 

 

 

Zdá se, že Kayes miluje chůzi po svých soupeřích, Prostě jde, A jako parní vlak jen neustále drží odtupení ignorování překážek, jako jsou Jabs, dokud nedosáhne svého cíle. Jakmile tam tvrdý Belfast Man nechává roztrhnout se s velkými zákuly výstřelů k tělu, než ustoupí a dostane se za jeho úder, což je přesně to, co udělal v sobotu večer.

 

 

 

 

Pozdější kola byla občas docela chaotická, Hodně z toho poté, co Kayes ohradil mladíka na lanech, Brownova odpověď byla chytit držení, aby zabránil tomu, aby Belfast muž házel jeho střely.

 

 

 

 

Ve stejném stupni došlo k nějaké vynikající práci z Brown, Bohužel jen malé množství výstřelů dosahujících jejich zamýšleného cíle.

 

 

 

 

Po čtyřech kolech boxerského rozhodčího Lee Murtagh skóroval zápas 39-37 Ve prospěch Belfastovy Marty Kayes.

 

 

 

 

Zatímco správný výsledek bezpochyby, Nemůžu si pomoct, ale cítím se pro mladíka, protože vím, jak dobrý je boxer, jeho styl a přístup obvykle podobné tomuto “Požehnaný” Iain Weaver, Takže určitě tam bude pro jeho další boj a sledujte, jak získal své první pro vítězství.

 

 

 

 

Moje poslední slova jsou na samotné události; Toto je poprvé, co jsem byl na povýšení Tommy Jacobs (stejně jako titul) událost. Jacobs určitě ví, jak se představit, Prezentace byla první třída, boje, Nejen pro zápasy, ale také undercard sankcionované organizací Essex Boxing, byly všechny nejvyšší standard, Není divu, že zatím nejžhavější den roku se tolik lidí ukázalo. Kudos pan Jacobs.

Tommy ‘Sweet T’ Jacobs set to face Bilal Mohammad For WBF International Crown

Colchester’s Tommy ‘Sweet T’ Jacobs is firmly on a fast track to achieving his dream of being a World Champion, when he takes on Ghana’s Bilal Mohammad for the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International Super Welterweight Crown at the Charter Hall in Colchester on Saturday 30th June 2018.

 

 

Back in April this year Jacobs secured the WBF European Super Welterweight title with a convincing unanimous points victory over Matar Sambou, who to date has been the only boxer to beat him, when they first went toe-to-toe on Jacobs’ first defence of his British Masters crown back in October 2017.

 

 

Jacobs, a former Team GB International Amateur star, only turned professional in March 2016 and in that short time has already secured three Professional Titles, the British Masters, the International Masters and the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) European Championships and is confident that he will be adding the WBF International crown on just his ninth professional fight.

 

 

More importantly Jacobs’ eight fights to date have been against prospects, a rarity in the sport these days and one that sees Jacobs join such luminaries as all-time top fifty Pound 4 Pound Champions, Muhammad Ali, Oscar De La Hoya, Bob Fitzsimmons, Andre Ward and Joe Gans, who also only fought prospects with positive records in their first nine professional contests.

 

 

“Really looking forward to the fight, I had tunnel vision before and was so fixated on facing and beating Sambou after the controversial way the initial contest ended. I couldn’t deal with losing to someone who wasn’t better then me.

 

 

Now that’s done I’m firmly looking to the future! In no way I’m overlooking my next opponent, he is many levels above anyone else I’ve faced previously, but I feel he is a gatekeeper to bigger and better things and cannot wait to show case my talents against an opponent of that calibre.”
