Mattice Takes on Zhora Hamazaryan in co-feature bout of ShoBox: The New Generation Tripleheader on Divendres, July 20th from the WinnaVegas Casino Resort on Sloan, Iowa

Mattice, who made his ShoBox debut onFebruary 2nd with an exciting 7th round stoppage over Rolando Chinea in the same venue that Friday’s bout will take place at, will be looking for a more complete performance against the undefeated Hamazaryan.

 

 

 

‘This camp is going smooth,” Mattice said. “This is a little easier being that I have already gone through a camp and all the things that go on with being on national television. It was an inspiring opportunity, and a dream come true to fight on this platform, and now I will be more focused.”

 

 

 

While not much on Hamazaryan is out there for scouting purposes, Mattice has seen what he can, and will be ready for the undefeated fighter from Armenia.

 

 

 

“He is a slick guy,” Mattice said. “I have seen a couple of rounds on him. He has decent skills, and I look forward to a good fight. My job is to defeat him and get the win.”

 

 

 

Mattice isn’t looking past Hamazaryan, and he knows he needs to be victorious for his career to get to the next level.

 

 

 

“I have to win this fight, and then I can see where I can go from there. I just want everybody to tune into ShoBox. I want to thank my manager Chances Aurelius, my promoter GH3 Promotions, and Zhora for taking the challenge. It will be a great fight.”

Sims, who was a former National Amateur champion, has been off since suffering his only professional blemish, when he dropped a majority decision to Rolando Chinea, and subsequently had elbow surgery. He is eager to get back in the ring, and prove he’s one of the best prospects in the 140-pound division.

 

 

 

“Tot va molt bé,” Sims said. “I am feeling better than ever. I have been working with a strength and conditioning coach for the first time in my career, and I can feel the difference.”

 

 

In Love, he is facing an undefeated fighter, who made an impression in his previous ShoBox appearance on Feb. 2 when he won a majority decision over Samuel Teah on short notice.

 

 

 

“Love is a good fighter,” Sims said. “We fought when we were kids. We were about 15 anys d'edat,. Vaig guanyar aquesta lluita, but that does not mean anything as we head into this fight.”

 

 

 

Sims has extra motivation, as he feels that in the loss to Chinea, he was not at his best physically, and he vows to put on a great performance.

Hamazaryan looks to make a big splash, and become a big star in The United States.

 

 

 

“I am going to get this fight out of the way, and on to bigger fights here in the States.”

Three-Fight Telecast Features Six Fighters With A Combined Record of 82-1, Including Five Unbeaten Boxers

Philadelphia’s Ennis (20-0, 18 KOs) has knocked out 10 consecutive opponents and was the 2015 National Golden Gloves Champion before turning professional in 2016. The 20-year-old former amateur standout will face his first undefeated opponent in Alvarez (18-0, 12 KOs), a native of the Florida Keys who has knocked out six of his last seven opponents.

 

 

 

The three-fight telecast features six prospects with a combined record of 82-1, with all six fighters facing what is likely the toughest tests of their careers.

JARON ENNIS vs. ARMANDO ALVAREZ – 10-Round Welterweight Bout

Ennis will debut on ShoBox following a statement second round knockout of former junior welterweight contender Mike Arnaoutis earlier this month, la seva 10º consecutive KO victory. The Philadelphia native had a standout amateur career, notching an impressive record of 58-3 and winning the 2015 National Golden Gloves tournament. Ennis, who was ranked No. 1 as an amateur at 141 lliura, narrowly missed the opportunity to represent the U.S. al 2016 Olympics after losing a box-off to Gary Antuanne Russell at the Olympic Trials.

The 5-foot-10 Ennis will be the third brother to appear on ShoBox; Derek Jr. appeared on the series in 2007, and Farah faced Badou Jack on the series in 2013.

 

 

 

“A win on this platform would mean everything,” Ennis continued. “From here on out, I want to fight only the big names in the division. I feel grateful for this opportunity to show the world my talents and skills. It’s great to follow in my brother’s footsteps, and I am ready to take the Ennis last name to the next level.”

 

 

 

The 28-year-old Alvarez turned professional in 2014 and has gradually increased his level of opposition. Alvarez, who now lives in Key West, compilat a 26-4 amateur record and won the Florida State Championship in 2013. His headlining fight with Ennis will be his second fight of 2018 and by far his toughest test to date.

 

 

 

“This is the biggest opportunity I have ever received,” Alvarez said. “This is it. It’s on. Ennis is a great young fighter, but I think he has stepped out of his league. He is just a kid. The world will find out who Armando Alvarez is on July 20.”

 

THOMAS MATTICE vs. ZHORA HAMAZARYAN – Eight-Round Lightweight Bout

“I am excited for the opportunity to showcase my talent again on ShoBox," Mattice said. “I’m going to go out there and do what I did before. I’m going to get a win, hopefully in knockout fashion. Aquest noi (Hamazaryan) doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into.”

 

 

 

Undefeated lightweight prospect Hamazaryan, who signed with Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing in February, is originally from Armenia but fights out of Los Angeles. Part of a long line of Armenian fighters who have fought in the U.S., Hamazaryan won his U.S. debut on Feb. 16, when he scored a unanimous decision win over the previously unbeaten Sergio Ramirez. Prior to his win against Ramirez, all of Hamazaryan’s victories were earned in Russia.

 

 

 

The 22-year-old was considered the No. 1 fighter in Armenia after an amateur career that spanned over 200 baralles. Hamazaryan turned professional in 2015, turning down an opportunity to fight for the Armenian Olympic Team in 2016.

 

 

 

“This fight is very important for me, and I am very excited to be fighting on national television in America,” Hamazaryan said. “I know [Mattice] is undefeated but I normally don’t look at my opponent. I’m just looking to put on a great performance and make a statement for fans in the U.S.”

 

MONTANA LOVE vs. KENNETH SIMS JR. – Eight-Round Super Lightweight Bout

Cleveland native Love was an accomplished amateur who compiled a 174-13 registre i va guanyar una medalla de bronze en el 2012 Campionats Nacionals de Guants d'Or. The bout headlined an eight-fight card at SugarHouse Casino, and was promoted by King’s Promotions.

 

 

Fox de Forestville, Maryland controlled the action by using his long reach that set up combination punching. La 22 year-old was solid throughout, and cruised home to the victory by scores of 79-73 dues vegades i 78-74.

 

 

Fox is now 17-0, Mercado of Camuy, Puerto Rico ho és 11-4.

 

 

“The Fighting Ring Announcer” Alex Barbosa came back after a nearly two-year layoff to win a four-round unanimous decision over Sergio Aguilar in a super bantamweight bout.

 

Barbosa of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-36 i 39-37 twice to raise his mark to 6-3-1. Aguilar of Homestead, Florida ho és 2-8.

 


 

Romuel Cruz bloodied the nose of Bryann Perez on his way to a four-round unanimous decision in a super bantamweight bout.

 

Cruz of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-36 dues vegades i 39-37 to stay undefeated at 2-0. Perez of Carolina, Puerto Rico falls to 2-10-1.

 


New King’s Promotions signee, Anvar Yusunov shook of a flash knockdown to win a four-round unanimous decision over Deo Kizito in a super featherweight bout.

Yusunov, who is a three-time Olympian from Tajikistan won by scores of 40-36, 39-37 i 38-37 per millorar a 2-0. Kizito of Dubai, United Arab Emirates is 3-2.

 

 

Jerrod Miner and Desmond Moore battled to a four-round split draw in a bantamweight contest.

 

 

Each fighter won a scorecard 39-37 and a third card was even at 38-38.

“Mercado is 5’11”, and he has been talking a lot on social media that he is ready for war. I saw his fight with Clarence Booth and his fight with Crawley. He likes to come forward, and I will be ready for that on Friday. Everyone knows that I can adapt to any style.”

 

 

 

This will be Mykal’s first fight in the “Fighting City” de Filadèlfia, and Fox would like to indoctrinate himself to the enthusiastic fight crowd.

Les perspectives invictes Montana Love i Thomas Mattice guanyen en combats co-destacats

SLOAN, IOWA (Febrer. 3, 2018) - Els prospectes de pes súper mitjà invictes Ronald Ellis i Junior Younan van lluitar per un empat dividit a l'esdeveniment principal de ShoBox: La Nova Generació Divendres a SHOWTIME de WinnaVegas Casino Resort a Sloan, Iowa.

Mentre que Ellis era el ShoBox veterà amb el currículum més fort, Younan va entrar a la lluita com una perspectiva molt promocionada que mai havia estat provada. Va afrontar la seva primera prova el divendres en el que va ser el primer combat programat de 10 rondes per als dos lluitadors.

La lluita es va lliurar a ràfegues, amb Younan marcant des de fora i Ellis l'agressor. Excepte la vuitena ronda on Younan de Brooklyn va mostrar el seu millor treball, Ellis semblava empènyer l'acció i guanyar la segona meitat de la lluita. Ellis va tenir un lleuger avantatge en percentatge de cops de potència i cops totals, però Younan va ser una mica més precís. Els lluitadors estaven igualats amb 96 enllaços totals entrant a la 10a ronda, però Ellis (14-0-2, 10 KOs) va guanyar el 10º a les targetes de puntuació dels tres jutges per superar Younan 21-9.

La lluita de 10 rondes es va anotar 96-94 Ellis, 96-94 Younan, i 95-95.

"Vaig pensar que ho vaig treure. Vaig tancar l'espectacle al final,", va dir Ellis, de Lynn, Missa. "L'estava pressionant i els aficionats saben que vaig guanyar. Després de la baralla, un Younan emocional (13-0-1, 9 KOs) va defensar el seu cas per una represa.

“Vaig pensar que vaig guanyar la lluita, vaig pensar [Ellis] va guanyar potser tres rondes,", va dir Younan. "La meva millor ronda va ser la vuitena ronda: el vaig tenir a la cantonada i realment vaig pensar que acabarien la lluita aleshores.. Em va sorprendre que no aturés la baralla.

“Puc millorar una mica, Sento que puc acabar amb més força. Només he tingut una lluita de vuit rondes abans d'això, així que va ser un gran pas per a mi. Estic creixent i aprenent cada baralla.

“Ara mateix tinc el cor trencat. Jo volia guanyar aquella lluita. El vull en una represa. Sé que guanyaria. Sé què fer i què no fer.”

El pes lleuger invicte Thomas Mattice es va reunir per darrere per anotar un nocaut tècnic de la setena ronda ShoBox el veterà Rolando Chinea a la cometratge de la televisió.

Chinea va impulsar l'acció com s'esperava des de la campana inicial, llançament 90 cops de puny a la primera ronda per establir un ritme vertiginós per a la lluita programada de vuit rondes. Chinea, que va entrar després d'haver derrotat a tres lluitadors prèviament invictes en els seus últims quatre combats, tallar l'anell i pressionar cap endavant, mantenint Mattice en gran part contra les cordes. Mattice va fer el seu millor treball al centre del ring, però l'invicte nadiu de Cleveland no va poder evitar que la lluita es disputés contra les cordes.

Avall 59-55 entrant al setè, Mattice (11-0, 9 KOs) va agafar Chinea amb un dret enorme a la barbeta i, sentint que la Xina estava ferida, descarregat amb una sèrie de combos al cap. Chinea (15-2-1, 6 KOs) estava actiu, llançant un impressionant 678 cops de puny durant set rondes i mitja, comparat amb 414 per a Mattice. Però si bé era agressiu i efectiu per dins, la seva negligència en la defensa és el que finalment li va fer mal.

“Crec que ho vaig fer bé pressionant-lo i enganxant-me al meu avió de joc,", va dir Chinea. “Em vaig deixar portar i em vaig atrapar amb el xut correcte i, desafortunadament, va acabar com va acabar.

“Estic una mica decebut que hagi acabat com ho va fer, però això és la boxa i poden passar moltes coses en aquest esport i així va anar.”

En el combat inicial de la retransmissió de tres baralles, El prospecte súper lleuger Montana Love va mantenir intacte el seu registre sense taques amb una decisió majoritària sobre Sam Teah, anotat 78-74, 78-74, 76-76.

El zurdo Amor (9-0, 4 KOs) va pressionar l'acció des del principi, utilitzant una velocitat superior i un joc de peus polit per dictar el ritme. Teah no va tenir excuses per enfrontar-se a un rival d'última hora.

"Era un zurt astut. Sabia que era astut, però va ser més ràpid del que esperava,", va dir Teah. "Vaig pujar per intentar entrar i ell era agut amb el seu ganxo dret.
