Q. Com ha anat el camp d'entrenament? S'ha vist afectat pels huracans i quin és el vostre missatge per a les persones afectades a la vostra casa d'entrenament a Houston i casa a Miami??
“El camp d'entrenament va bé com sempre. S'ha fet molta feina al campament. Pel que fa als huracans, va inundar malament a les zones properes al nostre gimnàs, però només vam estar un parell de dies. Q. Què significa per a tu estar en una carta amb tots aquests campions de 154 lliures i els principals contendents?? Què important és fer una declaració a la resta de la divisió?
“És un gran honor, sobretot perquè estic a l'esdeveniment principal. Mostra que sóc el millor lluitador de la divisió. Aconseguir la victòria per tots els mitjans necessaris serà la meva declaració. Si tinc el nocaut, serà la cirereta del pastís com es diu aquí als EUA.”

“Significa molt. Tinc l'objectiu de batre el rècord, en mans de Gianfranco Ross, per a la majoria de les defenses del títol a 11. Però sempre estaré preparat per lluitar contra qualsevol que em posin davant. Q. Com ha anat el camp d'entrenament fins ara? Amb qui has estat lluitant i què han pogut fer per preparar-te per a la Lara? Heu provat alguna cosa nova en aquest camp d'entrenament??
“La capacitació ha estat gran. Hi hem estat durant 10 setmanalment. He estat lluitant amb bons companys, tot i que no puc pronunciar la majoria dels seus noms. Hem portat un medallista de bronze de la 2012 Jocs Olímpics, Chris Pearson i un gran lluitador nigerià també. Són hàbils defensivament i tan propers com podem trobar a l'estil de Lara. És difícil d'imitar, però estan a prop. Realment no estem fent res de nou, només treballant més rondes. Q. Què significa per a tu formar part d'un tripleheader amb el màxim talent de la divisió?? Què important és aprofitar aquesta oportunitat i tenir el millor rendiment possible?
“Estar involucrat en això em permet saber on sóc. No qualsevol persona va tenir aquesta targeta. Ens hem guanyat el camí fins aquí i aquesta nit obrirà altres grans baralles a la divisió. No hi ha pressió per a mi, encara que. Vaig fer tot el treball dur al gimnàs. En la nit del combat, Només deixo que les coses flueixin.”

HOUSTON (Set. 29, 2017) – Unbeaten champion Jermell "Iron Man" Charlo visited the Houston Food Bank el divendresto meet with volunteers and help prepare boxes of goods for victims of Hurricane Harvey alongside his twin brotherJermall Charlo and Houston-based world champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara. After visiting the Food Bank, Charlo met with media at Charlo Boxing & Fitness Club in Sugar Land, Texas in advance of his much-anticipated fight against top contender Erickson "Hammer" Lubin. The fight will serve as the co-main event of the high stakes SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® tripleheader that is headlined by Erislandy Lara defending his title against undefeated Terrell Gausha.

“When they asked me if I was available to come to the Houston Food Bank to volunteer, I didn’t even hesitate. I was in. No matter how busy I am with training camp, I always have time to help for a good cause.

 

“Houston has suffered with Hurricane Harvey. I’ve seen the devastation. Coming to the Food Bank with my wife today is my little grain of sand to help a bigger cause. I come from Cuba, an island that it’s often battered by storms. I’ve seen people lose a lot to Mother Nature. I feel for them.

 

“I don’t think my preparation for this fight has been affected by what happened here in Houston [Hurricane Harvey]. I have endured so much in my life. I had to escape from my homeland to pursue my dream of becoming a professional boxer. I defied the odds and I became a world champion. I got here with hard work and discipline. Estic concentrat. Nothing distracts me.

 

“Gausha is a good fighter, but he doesn’t know what he signed up for. I’m not a brawler, Sóc un veritable lluitador– a technical boxer. I went toe-to-toe with some of the best fighters in the division. He’s in for treat.”

My uncle wouldn’t tell me anything that’s going on in my gym. Everybody basically was like ‘don’t worry about what’s going on.’ I’m trying to keep my mind off of it. I’m back home, everything is good and that’s all that matters right now.

 

“Erickson Lubin is a crafty young fighter. He’s strong. He’s got some skills. He’s got pop. We’re just going to have to dog it out. Best man wins. Whoever’s in the best shape, whoever’s the strongest fighter, whoever lands the best punches is going to win the fight.

 

“I’m a vet. I’ve been in the game professionally ten years. I grew up in the amateurs. I’ve got the height, I’ve got the size, I’m stronger, I’m faster.

 

“I’ve fought three southpaws. I’ve knocked them all out. I’ve knocked every southpaw I’ve fought out.

 

“Errol Spence Jr. is the perfect sparring partner. He’s been one of the best sparring partners that I’ve had even when I’m fighting right-handers because of his dominance. He’s very strong, he’s fast and he’s punching.

 

“I’ve got Houston on my back right now – me and my twin brother. If there were more fighters in Houston, we would be a bigger team. We do what we can to try to get boxing back into this city.

 

“Why not get a big fight? he lluitat 29 baralles. I’ve fought a lot of prospects. My career has been built up. I beat Olympians. What else do you want me to do? Now it’s time to beat the [Miguel] Cottos and the Canelos [Alvarez] and the Triple G’s [Gennady Golovkin] and whoever else we’ve got to jump in the ring with.

 

“I’m satisfied with [entrenador] Derrick James. I actually like the fact that I have to leave to go to a different city to train because I can focus over there. I’m sitting in a home where I just train. I wake up, eat protein, back to training again and then rest. My focus is there.”

 

Charlo JERMALL

“I told my brother that this fight is equivalent to when I fought J-Rock [Julian Williams]. A lot of people are going to doubt him but at the end of the day they’re going to be in his corner cheering him on for the victory.

 

“I told Jermell to continue to work hard and keep striving because it’s going to build our legacy to that next level. It’s going to put us where we need to be to get the best opponents and the biggest fights.

 

“I’m in camp with Ronnie Shields. We’re getting in shape. I’ve been training so I’m just waiting on the next date, the next fight. We’ll see what happens.”

A trio of exciting local prospects will compete in their hometown as 2016 Haití olímpic Richardson Hitchins (2-0, 1 KO) fights in a four-round welterweight bout, Brooklyn de Julian Sosa (9-0-1, 3 KOs) enters the ring for a six-round welterweight attraction and unbeaten prospects square-off for eight rounds of super welterweight action as Brooklyn’s Chordale Booker (7-0, 4 KOs) es reuneix Malcolm McCallister (9-0, 8 KOs).

“M'agrada parlar al ring. En Octubre 14 això és exactament el que faré. És un honor ser cap de cartell a SHOWTIME i esperem una gran lluita.

“Estic lluitant contra un competidor dur. Ell és astut. Tots sabem que té habilitats. Però m'he preparat per a això i faré el que he de fer. M'agrada parlar al ring i ho deixaré tot en joc la nit de lluita.
“Ara sóc un lluitador més madur. Sóc un autèntic professional. He passat per algunes coses a la meva carrera que m'han ajudat a liderar aquesta lluita. Estic ben preparat i preparat per a la prova.

“He estat lluitant amb nois més grans. Nois que llencen combos d'un-dos com Jermell. M'estic preparant mentalment i físicament per a aquesta lluita.
“Jermell té una mica de poder. Es mou força bé, però estaré preparat per a tot. Tant si em pressiona com si em boxa, estaré preparat.
“Em ric de la gent que diu que això és massa aviat per a mi. Mike Tyson ho era 19 quan s'atrevia a ser gran. Aquest és el moment perfecte per demostrar que no sóc un jove normal de 21 anys.
“Aquesta és una targeta apilada que tenim aquí i estic preparat per mostrar el meu talent. Vull demostrar que sóc el millor d'aquesta divisió. “Significa tot estar defensant el meu cinturó en una carta com aquesta. Vaig lluitar aquí al Barclays Center al Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter, així que tornar aquí contra un veterà a Austin Trout és genial. No puc esperar per fer un espectacle.
“Tindrem dos autobusos d'aficionats fins aquí. El 'Swift’ els aficionats seran a la casa. Serà un gran ambient la nit de lluita.

“Vaig a mantenir la pressió sobre ell. Estic planejant atacar el cos i assegurar-me de tallar l'anell. Ell estarà en moviment, així que he d'estar preparat.
“Els meus fans poden esperar una parada Octubre 14. Té tres derrotes contra grans rivals, però cap ha estat capaç d'aturar-lo. Vaig a separar-me sent el primer a fer-ho.”

Lara, a 34-year-old Cuban southpaw, owns victories over Trout, Alfredo Angulo and a slew of former champions and top contenders in addition to a controversial split decision loss to Canelo Alvarez on the way to cementing his credentials as the top boxer in the division. Lara will make the seventh defense of his world title as he continues to train with renowned trainer Ronnie Shields.
“I’m very excited to be making another title defense back on SHOWTIME headlining a great tripleheader,” Said Lara. “This is an interesting fight versus an undefeated U.S. Olympian in Terrell Gausha. I know he will be ready because it’s his opportunity to beat the best fighter in the division and become a champion. After this performance, I look forward to, one-by-one, adding a WBC and IBF title to my collection.”
The 29-year-old Gausha, de Cleveland, Ohio, earned a shot at the world title with solid victories in his last two matches. He won a hard-fought decision over Steven Martinez last August and followed it up with another impressive victory over Luis Hernandez on Febrer. 10. Lara figures to be his toughest battle in his pro career that dates back to 2012.

The 27-year-old Charlo successfully defended the title with a highlight reel knockout victory over fellow Texan Charles Hatley onAbril 22 Barclays Center. He and his twin brother, Jermall, both held world titles at 154-pounds, before Jermall relinquished his title to move up to 160 lliura. Charlo now trains in Dallas with Derrick James, trainer of world champion Errol Spence Jr.
“Lubin is young and hungry and I know he always comes to fight, but there’s a reason why I’m where I am in the sport,” Said Charlo. “I’ve been through the trenches and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon. This is what boxing always needs — two young, undefeated fighters willing to risk their ‘0’. But I think it’s a little early for Lubin to step in the ring with me, and I plan on keeping my title. Octubre 14 I’ll show everyone why I’m a world champion.”
Lubin, 21, is nicknamed “El Martell” because of his power in both hands and his ability to bring a quick conclusion to every match. Lubin of Orlando, Fla., has picked up 10 victories since the beginning of 2015 including seven knockouts on his way to contender status. Lubin most recently scored a sensational knockout of Jorge Cota in a title eliminator in March at Barclays Center.

Hurd, 26, will be making the first defense of the title that he won with a KO victory over Tony Harrison on Febrer. 25. But I wanted this fight to stop Austin Trout, proving to the fans and people in general I’m the real deal and a true champion.”
Truita, a 31-year-old southpaw from Las Cruces, Nou Mèxic, has faced some of the top 154-pound boxers in the division. He defeated Miguel Cotto in New York to win a title in 2012 and has close losses to Canelo Alvarez and Lara on his resume. In his most recent attempt at winning the title, Trout gave Jermall Charlo perhaps the toughest test of his career after looking impressive in four straight victories leading up to the challenge.

TOLEDO, Ohio (Febrer 10) – Gairebé 10,000 fans turned out for hometown hero Robert Pasqua (19-0, 14 KOs) as he impressively defended his lightweight world title against Puerto Rico’s Luis Cruz (22-5-1, 16 KOs) at the Huntington Center in Toledo, OH in the main event of Lliga de Campions de Boxa: La Ronda Següent en el comiat de TV. La 2012 Olympic alternate used his reach and power throughout the fight, knocking Cruz down three times en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Cruz’s best round came in the fifth as he turned up the action, giving Easter a pause more than once and pushed the champion toward the ropes. After that round, it was all Easter who threw flurries of punches, not always depending on his range, doing his best to pin Cruz back with powerful hooks and body shots. Easter wasn’t fazed by seeing the 10th round for the third time in his career as a big right hand sent Cruz to the canvas for the first knockdown of the fight. Cruz impressively rose to his feet, but Easter didn’t relent.
He continued his conquest and with 10 seconds to go in the 11th round, Cruz was saved by the bell after being knocked down again. Fighting to the finish, Easter gave the raucous crowd what they came for as he threw a big right hand that nearly ended the fight. Cruz did notably did not quit, but was no match for Easter as the judges scored the bout 119-106, 118-107, 117-108.

Cau, who was defending his bantamweight title for the first time, could not finish the fight in the first round despite throwing a flurry of unanswered punches following the two knockdowns. The tables started to turn in favor of Zhakiyanov in the third round as he threw several consecutive uppercuts, pressuring Warren against the ropes. He threw two right hooks that knocked Warren to the canvas, but referee Gary Rosato ruled it a slip.
Trained and promoted by former unified world champion Ricky Hatton, Zhakiyanov applied pressure throughout the middle rounds, wearing Warren down. But the Cincinnati-native seemed to have gotten a second wind to kick-off the eighth round as he turned up the heat with one minute to go. Zhakiyanov continued to put pressure on Warren and use his strength. The fight was action packed from start to finish, but it was the Kazakh who earned the split decision victory with scores of 116-110, 115-111 for Zhakiyanov and 115-111 Cau.
The telecast kicked off with a middleweight bout between Cleveland-native Terrell Gausha(20-0, 9 KOs)and Puerto Rico’s Luis Hernandez (15-4, 8 KOs). Gausha established his jab midway through the first round with three straight right hands to the face of Hernandez. No obstant això, it was Hernandez who surprised Gausha with a huge overhand right that floored the 2012 Olímpic. Gausha easily bounced back from the knock down and was able to get himself out of trouble and continued to show his power throughout.
Referee Jim Howe deducted a point from Hernandez after two low blows in the seventh round. I hated that Rau’Shee had to go through that again – losing in the Olympics three times, not getting his win in the first fight with Juan Carlos Payano, then not getting his belt for months after winning it, and now losing it like that. He’s had it rough, but we’re a team and we have to pick each other up. That became my mission to rise for the sake of the team.
“Realistically I’d like to come back maybe May or June. It’s always hard work but I’m not cut or marked up. I want to stay active and get all the champions and best challengers out there. TBT – The Bunny Team is getting ready to take over.”
Luis Cruz:
“He’s a very strong fighter. I wanted to do more but he took away my energy late in the fight. The first knockdown took a lot of out me. I felt dizzy but it was important for me to finish the fight on my feet. I never stopped trying to win, but he a great champion and the best I’ve ever faced.

“The knockdowns shocked me, però (trainer and promoter, former two-division world champion) Ricky Hatton kept me level-headed, telling me the adjustments I had to make. Once I was able to get inside and force the action, I saw (Warren’s) energy level drop.
“We are grateful that he gave us the opportunity to fight for the world title. It’s an amazing feeling to win that belt. He feels like he won the fight and wants the rematch. We can definitely talk about doing that. I’ve fought everywhere in the world and don’t back down from any challenge.”
Ricky Hatton:
“We were surprised when Zhanat went down like that in the beginning of the fight. I just wanted to remind him what he does better and what Rau’Shee is good at. He is never going to outbox him; he had to get in his chest, he had to mug him and make it a brawl. Zhanat did that very well and that’s how he won the fight.
“If we lost the fight, we would have been upset, but we’d know it wouldn’t have been a bad decision. I know that Warren is gutted, he feels like he won the fight and let’s be honest – it was the type of fight where no matter who won, the loser would have felt like he deserved to have his hand raised.
“Their styles make for a great fight. Why not do it again? Not just because it was close but because it was such a great action fight and it always will be.”
Rau'shee Warren:

“The knockdown was legitimate, but that was (Hernandez’) only good moment in the fight. He caught me clean, but it happened to me before (versus William Waters earlier in his career). Just like I did back then, I immediately adjusted and controlled the rest of the fight.
“It felt good to get so much from the fans in Toledo and all my fans that came from Cleveland (Gausha’s hometown). It was a great night out here and I’d love to do it again whenever they’re ready to bring us back here or even in my hometown.
“I’m ready to return whenever my team says the next opportunity is there for me. Hopefully it’s as soon as possible. This is going to be a big year for me.”
Luis Hernández:
“I had him hurt but I didn’t finish him. I didn’t throw enough punches to slow him down after I knocked him down. He deserved to win; I could have done better and will do better in the future. I hope PBC brings me back soon as I want to show I belong with the best.”

Gausha (19-0, 9 KOs) and Hernandez (15-3, 8 KOs) will compete in a 10-round middleweight bout while Herring (15-1, 8 KOs) meets Hovhannisyan (17-3, 9 KOs) in an eight-round lightweight fight.
Additional action features a pair of unbeaten prospects as Raynell Williams (11-0, 5 KOs) batalles Justin Savi (29-9, 19 KOs) in a six-round junior lightweight bout while Tyler McCreary (12-0, 6 KOs) adquireix Jonathan Pérez (36-16, 28 KOs) en una atracció de pes ploma de vuit assalts.

Gausha has picked up six victories in the last two years against increasingly experienced competition including triumphs over Orlando Lora and Steven Martinez in 2016. He looks to continue his march towards a world title when he takes on the Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico-native Hernandez who won five times in 2016.
Another amateur standout who won an Amateur National Championship the same year as his Olympic run, Herring fights out of Cincinnati and is originally from Coram, Nova York. The 31-year-old won his first 15 pro fights including triumphs over Luis Eduardo Florez, Yakubu Amidu and Hector Velasquez. A former member of the U.S. Marine Corps, Herring will face the experienced contender Hovhannisyan who is originally from Armenia but trains now out of Glendale, Califòrnia.
