Las Vegas - Uztaila 15, 2025 -Filipinetako borroka harrotasuna, Zortzi banaketa munduko txapelduna eta azken hilabetean bezala, Nazioarteko Boxeo Ospearen Nazioarteko Aretoan sartu. Bizitza baino handiagoa dela dirudiManny "Pacman" Pacquiaokirolean ahal duzun guztia lortu du, Larunbat honetan bere ondare historikoari beste kapitulu bat gehitu zitekeen, Uztailaren 19 WBC Welterweight munduko txapelduna erronka egiten dueneanMario “El Azteca” BarriosLas Vegas-eko MGM Grand Garden Arena-ren PBC Pay-Per-Vie-ren gertaera nagusian.

Ospearen areto baten ondoren mundu titulua irabazteko balentria ulertezina lortzeaz gain, Pacquiao-k historiako Welterweight munduko txapeldun zaharrena bezala bere erregistroa hautsi dezake, WBC gerrikoa Barrios-etik hartzen badu. Pacquiao-k jatorriz uztailean ezarri zuen marka 2019, Aurretik Garaitu zuen Keith Thurman 40 urte bitartekoak gara. Tom Brady eta LeBron James bezalako 40ko superstars ikusten ari den aro batean maila gorenetan nabarmentzen jarraitzen dute, Pacquiao berriro ere kirola gainditzen duen belaunaldiko atleta dela frogatu da.

Pacquiao eraztunera itzuliko da berea egin duen leku batean, Las Vegas-eko MGM Grand Garden Arena, munduko borroka hiriburua, berak egiten duen moduan 16garren Itxura aretoan, Aretoko historia handia duen borrokalaria baino gehiago. Berarekin 15garren Ekitaldi nagusia uztailean 19, Legend-eko Mayweather-ek sortutako marka lotzen du aretoan, eta Mayweatherrek bakarrik garaipenak dira (15-10). Denbora guztietako oso lotuta dauden bi handiak MGM Grand-en izenburuko borroka gehien lortzeko lotuta daude 12 bakoitz.

Uztailaren 19, Pacquiao etsai baten aurrean izango da Mexikoko Amerikako Barrios-en borroka ondare ezagunarekin, Pacquiao-k bere karreran zehar duen Mexikoko onena nor den garaitu duen bezala. Urtetik geroztik 2003, Pacquiao jipoitu du 12 Mexikoko edo Mexikoko borrokalari mexikarrak Juan Manuel Marquez bezalako kondairak barne, Oscar De La Hoya, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera eta Antonio Margarito. Garaipen horiek Pacquiao-ren garaipen aipagarrienak dira eta Boxeo Mexikoko Fanbase rabidaren arreta eta adoratzea lortzen lagundu zioten.

Lorpen horiek guztiak biltzen dituen bitartean, Pacquiao-k errespetatu du uztailaren aurretik "momentu gogokoenak" partekatu dituzten boxeo-argiztapen sorta zabal batetik 19 Ekitaldia. Pacquiao-rekin hitz egin zutenen artean, aurkarien aurkari ohiak ziren Thurman eta Barrera, baita shewn Porter txapeldun eta soldadura txapeldun ohia ere.

"Inoiz ez da momentu bat izan niretzat Manny Pacquiao-ri dagokionez,"Esan zuen Thurman. "Nire momentu gogokoena zortzi zulatutako konbinazio horiek busti dituen edozein unetan da. Soketan aurkari batekin, Mundu mailako lehiaketa, eta zortzi multzo besterik ez ditu tiro egiten. Askotan gertatu da, Baina lekuko izan dudan bakoitzean, Nire bihotzean poz txiki bat piztu da ".

"Bi manio gogoko ditut, Lehena Oscar de la Hoya jo zuenean da, Ezinezkoa zela pentsatu nuen,"Said Barrera. "Ez zela inoiz gertatuko eta gero De la Hoya eserita gelditu zen eta amaitu egin zen. Bigarrena Miguel Cottok jo zuen modua izan zen. Bi famatzaile eta mania izan ziren oso ikusgarria izan da pisu klase horretan.

"Manny hain berezia egiten duena bere zaleekiko lotura eta gertutasuna da. Bere bihotza da berarekin egiten duena. Ikuskizun bat jartzea gustatzen zaio, eman zaleei guztiei, eta garrantzitsuena, Bezero bihurtzen da eraztunean pausatzen denean ".

"Manny Pacquiao momentu arraroa daukat, Legendarekin batera iristen ez diren gehiegi ez dagoelako,"Esan zuen Porter. "Hegan egin ninduen eta nire aita Filipinetara eta lehen aldiz ezagutu genuen". Harritu egin nintzen "nire izkinarekin tratatu nuen lehenengo aldiz, eraztunaren erdira jo nuenean." Manny Pacquiao-rekin bat egiten ari nintzen bezala. " lehenengo 10 segundo. Eta ezkerreko esku on bat harrapatu zidan lehen minutuan eta esnatu nau. Ni bezalakoa izan nintzen "tipoak botere pixka bat" duela, Eta gero lasterketetara joan ginen. "

Larunbat honetako emaitzak agertzean, Uztailaren 19 matchup, Oddsmakers-ek apustu gogokoen gisa txapeldunaldiko txapeldun gazteena instalatu dute. Ospe handiko prestatzaile eta boxeo analista Stephen "Breadman" Edwards ados dago sentimenduarekin, Gargantuanek zeregina duen zeregina duen azpimarratuz 46 urteko handia da.

"Sinestezina izango litzateke 46 urteko borrokalari bat itzultzea eta Welterweight World World titulua irabaztea,"Esan zuen Edwardak. "Zaila da norbaitek urte batzuk daramatza imajinatzea eta gero berriro itzultzea 46 eta irabaztea. Zintzotasun guztietan, Uste dut ezinezkoa den zeregina izan daitekeela. Norbaitek egin dezake, Mannyk egin dezake, Baina oraintxe Barriosen alde nago. "

Odds izan arren, Inkestatutako boxeolarietako batzuek pacquiao aldera mesede egiten dute, Porter barne, Barrera, eta WBA Super Wayweight Munduko Txapeldun Gary ANTZANEKO RUSSELL.

"Pacquiao tipo motako zulaketak dira eta pitzatu dezake,"esan zuen Russell. "Erakutsi du bere zulatze-indarrak lana lor dezakeela. Barrios gaztetasuna da eta zulagailu selektiboa. Ez dut uste han eseri eta argazkiak ateratzeko gai izango denik. Mannyk ordainduko zaitu denbora gehiegi itxaroten baduzu. Beti erakutsi du borroka aurrera joan nahi duela.

"Pacquiao tempo handiko borrokalaria da eta Barriosek erritmo horrekin borrokan aritu da. Barrios lehiakide gogorra da, Baina ikasteko asko duela sentitzen dut. Manny txapeldun ugarirekin egon da eta uste dut tresnak ditu bere arsenalean eta borroka gauean erakutsiko duela. Barriosek mundua harritu beharko du. Nahikoa erakutsi behar du Manny errespetatzeko. Manny garaile ari naiz makurtzen, baina gizonik onenak irabaziko du. "

"Uste dut Manny Pacquiao Mario Barrios beat,"Esan zuen Porter. "Badakit denek bere adinaz ari direla. Hori da gaia, agureak gazteari jo dezake? Gizon zahar hau beti gehiegi izango dela uste dut eskularruak zintzilikatu arte ".

"Oso borroka interesgarria izango dela uste dut,"Esan zuen Barrerak. "Pacquiao gerlari bikaina da, Zortzi dibisioko munduko txapelduna, bere guztia emango diona eta ikuskizun bat jartzea gustatzen zaiona. Benetan ikusiko ditugun borroka da, benetan ikusiko ditugun mutil hauek talka egin eta zaleek benetako irabazleak bihurtzen dituztela.

"Barrios defentsa txapeldun aktiboa da, eta beste txapeldunak bezain konplexua ez den bitartean, Eraztunera sartu ondoren arriskutsua izango da. Pacquiao irabazi nahi nuke, berak dagoen kondairarengatik. Manny Pacquiao-rekin joango naiz irabazle gisa, Baina Barriosek irabazten badu, Oraingoz borrokalari hobea dela frogatzen duelako izango da. "

Uztailean irabaztea nork ikusten duen 19, Iluntzean, zalantzarik gabe, historikoa izateko konformatzen da, eta kanpotik datozen zalantzak izan arren, Pacquiao-k bere auto-sinesmen sendoa adierazi du berriro munduko txapeldun gisa utziko duela.

"Sua, Gogor lan egiteko erabakia eta irrikaz hor dago oraindik,"Esan zuen Pacquiao. "Oraindik gozatzen ari naiz mendiak korrika egiten. Borrokalari guztiek ez dute sentimendu hori. Hau bedeinkapena da, Nire karreran hainbeste borroka handiren artean egon naizelako eta hemen nago oraindik. Itzuli naiz ... asko esan nahi nuke niretzat munduko txapelduna berriro bihurtzea. Manny Pacquiao zaleei sorpresak ematen dizkie beti. Hori da nire pasioa ".

Angel Fierro: “I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR PITBULL CRUZ. HE DOESN’T INTIMIDATE ME & HE’S AN ORDINARY FIGHTER!" – Fierro Talks Training With Robert Garcia & More Ahead of Cruz Rematch on Saturday, Uztailaren 19

Hard-Hitting Fierro Talks Training with Robert Garcia & Previews Mexico vs. Mexico Rematch Against Former World Champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz onLarunbata, Uztailaren 19 on PBC Pay-Per-View Event on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas

RIVERSIDE, ESATERAKO. – July 1, 2025 -Hard-hitting Mexican contenderAngel “Tashiro” Fierrosent a direct message to his compatriot and rivalIsaac "Pitbull" Cruzduring a tense face-to-face at the Los Angeles press conference in June to announce their rematch, and has continued to express his ire toward Cruz as we near their showdown on Saturday, Uztailaren 19 as part of a PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“When I say something to him, like I did at that press conference, I follow through,” said Fierro. “I promised I would show him that I’m elite and this fight will be more of the same. I have no respect for ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. He doesn’t intimidate me and he’s an ordinary fighter. He’s a human and he gets tired too. I stayed true to myself when I told him I’m coming for war.”

The biggest change for Fierro since the first showdown is the addition of famed trainer Robert Garcia, who has led his training camp and will do the same for his corner on July 19. By joining forces with Garcia, Fierro believes he’s unlocked a better version of himself that he’ll display in the rematch.

“It’s been a tough camp,” said Fierro. “I’ve never trained with this much intensity before. Robert Garcia and the whole team has been excellent. We’ve made changes to my sparring sessions and I believe we’re going to deliver a great result.

“I’ve gone through changes physically, mentally and nutritionally. It’s going to make me formidable. I’m in the best shape of my life and my diet is on point. I’m not worried about making weight and that’s how an elite fighter should come into a fight.”

The Tijuana-native’s first fight against Cruz was a tale of two halves, as Cruz controlled the early rounds before Fierro appeared to turn the tide, out landing his opponent 132 ra 106 across the final five frames. While he believes he’ll be even better on July 19, Fierro is confident that he proved his elite status in the first fight, even if Cruz doesn’t.

“I’ve worked on myself and correcting the mistakes I made in the first fight that would have changed the outcome,” said Fierro. “Robert Garcia is very experienced and I watched the fight with him to work on what I need to do to win this time.

“I didn’t keep my hands up 100% of the time like I needed to. That was the main mistake at the time. ‘Pitbull’ underestimated me – and still does- but I already showed him that I’m not middling fighter. I proved I’m elite and now I’m working twice as hard.”

In addition to showing Cruz his level, Fierro believes that he took advantage of the big stage in February on the undercard of David Benavidez vs. David Morrell Jr. to show the Mexican people that he was a true contender. With that extra motivation, he’s promised to show that he will be the next big star to take off from the boxing-rich country.

“At the beginning of the fight, people looked at me like I was a nobody,” said Fierro. “But by the halfway point, I felt a shift, and people were already seeing me as a big-time fighter. I felt like Rocky in Russia! I proved that I’m not just a talker. I’m a true Mexican…We’re two Mexicans with pride on the line and looking to show who the next great Mexican boxing star will be. I’m fighting to bring honor to my country.”

Having already delivered a fight that’s garnering early Fight of the Year consideration, Fierro has promised to deliver even more action the second time around, and perhaps bring back memories of Fierro’s personal favorite all-Mexican rematch Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales II.

“You’re going to see a different ‘Tashiro’ and it’s going to be an even better war than the first one,” said Fierro. “The fans will be on their feet from the very first round. I will beat ‘Pitbull’ – no matter what. He better prepare well and I think he will, because deep down he knows what he’s up against.”

**MANNY PACQUIAO VS. MARIO BARRIOS**

Despite a 17-year age gap between these two fighters, both are unified in their desire to deliver toe-to-toe action for boxing fans as the fighting pride of the PhilippinesManny Pacquiaoduels WBC Welterweight World ChampionMario Barriosin the 12-round main event.

Already owning a career that’s seen him earn more accolades than can be listed in print, Pacquiao can etch his name into another chapter of the history books by going straight from his Hall of Fame induction in June to a world championship-winning performance on July 19. Tom Brady eta LeBron James bezalako 40ko superstars ikusten ari den aro batean maila gorenetan nabarmentzen jarraitzen dute, Pacquiao can break his own record as the oldest welterweight world champion in history with a win over Barrios, after originally setting the mark at 40-years-old in his 2019 triumph over Keith Thurman.

The Filipino legend will have a tall task in front of him to achieve this feat, as the six-foot Barrios will bring a nearly seven-inch height advantage into his second defense of the WBC title. A two-division world champion, Barrios represents his Aztec heritage every time he enters the ring with an all-action style that’s delivered numerous electric clashes and which should combine with the always hard-charging Pacquiao for explosive action. Looking for a signature victory to separate himself from the other titleholders in boxing’s historic glamour division, Barrios will no doubt be keen to upend Pacquiao’s coronation when they square off on July 19.

A three-time Fighter of the Year and the one-time Boxing Writers Association of America’s Fighter of the Decade, Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 Kos), who hails from Sarangani Province in the Philippines, is the only sitting Congressman and Senator to win a world title. After serving two terms as Congressman, Pacquiao was elected to a Philippine Senate seat in May 2016. Pacquiao’s boxing resume features victories over eight current Hall of Famers, barne Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao’s most recent run in the 147-pound division saw him dispatch of former four-division world champion Adrien Broner in January 2019, before defeating the then-undefeated and reigning WBA Welterweight World Champion Keith Thurman in July of that same year. Pacquiao’s triumph over Thurman saw him send Thurman to the canvas in round one, the first time Thurman had been down in his career, on his way to edging out a decision in a 2019 Fight of the Year contender. Pacquiao would come up short in his next contest, dropping a decision to late-replacement Yordenis Ugas, who stepped in on short notice to replace an injured Errol Spence Jr. abuztuan 2021.

“Boxing is my passion and I’m so excited to be back in the ring,"Esan zuen Pacquiao. “MGM Grand is like my second home in my career and it’s a place where I’ve had so many memorable fights, including my U.S. debut. The first title I ever won was a WBC title, and now I am back to fight for the WBC title once again. Mario Barrios is exactly the type of champion I like to fight, because he’s a real Mexican warrior like Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez. Come July 19, it’s going to be an amazing night for the fans.”

The 29-year-old Barrios (29-2-1, 18 Kos) stamped his place among the welterweight elite in September 2023 as he dropped former champion Yordenis Ugas twice to capture the interim belt by unanimous decision. Barrios followed that up by sending Fabian Maidana to the canvas as well on his way to another dominant decision victory, and was elevated to WBC Welterweight World Champion following the bout. His first defense of the title featured Barrios going toe-to-toe with Abel Ramos in one of 2024’s best fights in action that saw both men score knockdowns and that ultimately ended in a split-draw and Barrios retaining the belt.

Before his run at 147-pounds, Barrios was a world champion at 140-pounds, edging out Batyr Akhmedov in September 2019 with a clutch 12garren-round knockdown that sealed his victory on the scorecards. Throughout his career, Barrios’ only two defeats have come against two of the era’s best fighters in five-time, three-division champion Gervonta Davis and former unified welterweight world champion Keith Thurman. Representing his native San Antonio, Texas, Barrios trains in Las Vegas with top trainer Bob Santos.

Sharing the ring with a legend like Manny Pacquiao is an honor, but once the bell rings, negozio guztia da,” esan zuen Barriosek. “I respect everything he’s done in the sport, but on July 19, I’m defending what’s mine. This isn’t just another fight — it’s a legacy fight not just for me but for all the Mexican fans as well. Beating Pacquiao puts my name in a different conversation. Pacquiao is a Hall of Famer for a reason. azkarra da, lehergai, and dangerous at all times. But I’m younger, I’m hungrier, and I’m the champion for a reason. I’m coming in with everything I’ve got. Fighting in Vegas is always special, but this event is a truly massive stage and I’m ready to show out for the world.

**SEBASTIAN FUNDORA VS. TIM TSZYU II**

Two of the top fighters in the stacked 154-pound division, WBC Welterweight World ChampionSebastian "The Towering Inferno" Fundoraeta Australian SuperstarTim Tszyuwill meet in a 12-round rematch after their first fight saw Tszyu suffer a grisly cut in round three from an inadvertent Fundora elbow. The then WBO 154-pound champion Tszyu chose to fight on instead of bow out due to the cut, eventually losing his title, along with the then-vacant WBC belt, to Fundora by a close decision. “I’m not just ready for this fight, I’m ready to dominate,” esan zuen Garciak. “I’m excited to get back in the ring and unleash everything I’ve been working on in camp. LOS ANGELES (Abendua 5, 2021) –Boxing superstar and five-time world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis put his boxing skills on display, winning a rousing 12-round round unanimous decision over the relentless Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz to retain his WBA Lightweight World Title in front of a star-studded, sellout crowd of 15,850 at STAPLES Center live on SHOWTIME Pay-Per-View, in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

Aginte-koadroa irakurri 116-112 and two scores of 115-113, all for Davis.

The atmosphere in the arena was electric, with scores of current and former NBA stars in attendance, including Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Kawhi Leonard, Dwight Howard, Kenny Smith, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce among others.

Accompanied by superstar rapper Lil Durk, Davis entered the ring in Laker purple and gold; tassels along his trunks with the late Kobe Bryant’s number “8” and “24” on each side. Cruz celebrated his Mexican heritage with a mariachi band behind him as he strode toward the ring.

There was no feeling-out process in the first. Cruz charged at the defending champion, pinning him against the ropes and wailing away.

“That’s my style. ‘Pitbull’ is always going to be on the attack,"Esan Cruz. “I think we retained rhythm from the start to the end.”

Davis found his rhythm in the second and third, circling the ring and walking Cruz into shots. In the fourth, Cruz concentrated his attack on the body, pounding Davis’ ribs.

The 27-year-old Baltimore native turned on the power in the fourth, alternating between the right hook and left cross behind his southpaw stance. More punishing blows came from Davis during the fifth.

“He’s a shorter fighter, so I was throwing down on the top of his head,"Esan zuen Davis. “I hit him with my knuckle and messed it up. I hurt my hand in the sixth round. No matter if the opponent is taller or shorter, I’ve got to get through it. gerlari bat da,. Even though he didn’t win, a star was born tonight.”

“It was right around the fifth round I saw that his hand wasn’t working correctly,” Cruz observed.

Davis boxed beautifully in the middle rounds, firing quick shots and pivoting away from the return fire. A right hook in the eighth briefly buzzed Cruz and brought the audience to their feet. But just when it appeared as if the fight was slipping away, Cruz fought fire with fire, landing a flush uppercut seconds before the bell.

The 23-year-old Mexican picked up the pace in the latter rounds, keeping Davis on his toes and pounding away. Davis held his own, fighting back on even terms until the fight’s end.

Berez, Cruz believed he deserved the victory.

“Viva Mexico. I have nothing to say, the fans are speaking on who won this fight,", Esan zuen.

Following a successful title defense, Davis said he’s ready for all comers.

“L.A., we did it for Kobe,"Esan zuen Davis. “At the beginning of the fight, he came on strong. I felt as the fight was going, he was breaking down. But I hurt my hand, so I wasn’t able to get him out of there.

“Whatever the best opportunity is for me, I’ll do it. All of them guys are easy work. I’m the top dog.”

Co-nagusia gertatuz gero, Sebastian “Towering Inferno” Fundora moved closer to a world title shot with a 12-round unanimous decision over the previously-unbeaten Sergio Garcia in a WBC Super Welterweight Title Eliminator.

Final scores read 118-110, 117-111 eta 115-113.

Fundora established control quickly in the first, snapping Spain’s Garcia’s head back with a booming left. The two traded evenly through the early rounds. Garcia had his moments, including a sharp overhand right in the fifth that drew blood from Fundora’s nose.

The 23-year-old Fundora found his range in the sixth, pumping the jab and using his 6-foot-5 frame and 80-inch reach to keep Garcia at bay.

“I was using my distance a lot more. I wanted to display something different than what I’m used to,", Esan Fundora. “Height was definitely a difference in this fight.”

Garcia struggled to land during the second half of the bout, save for a couple moments in the 12garren when the two combatants stood toe-to-toe.

“Maybe things could have been different if I had been more aggressive from the beginning,” esan zuen Garciak. “I shouldn’t have let myself get carried away by what he was doing.”

Fundora believes he’s ready for a world title shot.

“We just beat the No. 2 WBC batean, so we have No.1, and we have the champion,", Esan Fundora. “Whoever they give us next, we’re ready for.”

In a thrilling back and forth, Carlos Adames (21-1, 16 Kos) overcame a stiff challenge from former world title challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko (13-4, 10 Kos) to win a 10-round majority decision in their WBC Middleweight World Title Eliminator.

Both combatants had their moments, but facing the toughest opponent of his career, the 27-year-old Adames shined. One judge scored the middleweight bout even at 95-95, while the other two scored it for Adames by scores of 96-94 eta 97-93.

“This means a lot for me in my career and this is a big accomplishment winning against a fighter of his caliber,” said Adames, who was born in the Dominican Republic and fights out of Washington Heights in New York City.

I am aggressive and speedy by nature, so I came in ready to do my thing. He started slow, wanting to see what would happen, and simply had the wrong game plan. He got a bit tired as the fight went on, took a lot of hard shots from me and it was evident that I caused him a lot of damage.”

“I expect my opponent to fight the same style. It was nothing special for me, just a quality fight,"Esan Derevyanchenko.

“He stayed southpaw, that was the difference in the fight. I don’t know what I’ll do next. I need a little bit of rest and then I will go back to the gym because I love boxing and I love the show.”

This gives me an opportunity to move on,” said Adames. “I dominate at both 154 eta 160, so wherever they give me the opportunity to fight for a championship is where I’ll go.”

In the opening bout of the SHOWTIME PPV telecast, super featherweight contender Eduardo “Zurdito” Ramirez (26-2-3, 12 Kos) was in peak form, winning a wide 10-round unanimous decision over former world title challenger Miguel Marriaga.

“I would like to thank the fans, SHOWTIME and the Montiel family for supporting me. Marriaga was a tough opponent, but I managed to dominate,” said Ramirez. “I had a varied fighting style and kept him on his toes the whole time.”

Marriaga (30-5, 26 Kos) was the aggressor throughout, particularly in the first round as he backed Ramirez up with combination punching. The latter found his range midway through the frame, utilizing an accurate jab. In the third, a right hook followed by an overhand left floored an off-balance Marriaga for a flash knockdown.
“We started out strong, but then things got progressively harder. Having said that, we are pleased with the work we put in today,” said Marriaga. “We should have been more savvy, but we tried our hardest in the face of a great opportunity that unfortunately we could not take advantage of.”

Ramirez dominated after scoring the knockdown, punishing Marriaga from then on with an assortment of shots to the head and body. Final punch stats had Ramirez landing 280 of 762 (36.7%) total punches to Marriaga’s 159 kanpo 689 (21.3%).

“Now I’m going to relax with my family and enjoy the holidays,” said Ramirez. “Then hopefully 2022 will come with a title shot for me.

Tonight’s blockbuster pay-per-view event will re-air on SHOWTIME this Saturday, Abendua 11 at 10 p.m. ET / PT. VAN NUYS, CALIF. (April 21, 2021) – All-action heavyweight Chris “The Nightmare” Arreolashowed off his skills in the ring during a virtual media workout Wednesday, which streamed live on the PBC YouTube page, as he nears his clash against former unified heavyweight championAndy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. that headlines a FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View Saturday, Maiatza 1 from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

The full replay of the workout, which includes interviews with Arreola and his famed trainer Joe Goossen, can be watched HEMEN.

The May 1 event is promoted by TGB Promotions. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com. Dignity Health Sports Park will be open to fans in a limited capacity, with all guests remaining socially distanced and subject to local and state health guidelines throughout the event.

Arreola’s workout took place at the Ten Goose Boxing Gym in Van Nuys, California where Arreola is participating in his second training camp with Goossen. Arreola’s first fight with Goossen saw the veteran former title challenger set numerous CompuBox heavyweight records in a narrow decision loss to Adam Kownacki.

Here is what Arreola and Goossen had to say Wednesday:

CHRIS Arreola

“I’m ready for this fight. I’ve been waiting for this fight for four or five months. This one is going to be a barnburner for sure.

“This fight is important for my legacy. I want to make the fans happy they bought this fight. I don’t fight for paychecks. I’m a fighter for the fans. So I hope they enjoy this fight and buy this pay-per-view.

“I love what I do. I’m a fortunate person to have been a fighter since a young age. I bleed boxing. I put my whole self out there every time I fight. I know that I owe it to the fans to give them a great fight.

“Defensively I’ve grown so much working with Joe. He’s taught me a lot about keeping my hands up and countering. He hasn’t reinvented the wheel, he’s just made sure the wheel is round.

“I was able to keep up the pace against Kownacki because I did everything I had to do in the gym. I could have given three more rounds at the end of that fight too. The fight is always won in the gym and we put all of the work in to win that fight. I thought I won that fight. Despite not getting the decision, it was a fun fight for me.

"Handia sentitzen dut. I’ve been working hard for months. I know that I have to make this a great fight for the fans and for myself. I know how crucial this fight is for my career.

“I don’t pay attention to the odds. If people want to make me the underdog, I’m comfortable with that. I’ve been an underdog my whole life.

“I’ve had some long layoffs before, so I know how to get back into it when the time comes. The sparring helps you know where your timing is at. That’s the best way to gauge where you’re at in your training camp.

“It’s a beautiful venue at Dignity Health Sports Park. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. Every time I go there I love to sit up there with all the fans and enjoy the fights. It’s going to be a fun night of boxing on May 1 and I can’t wait.”

JOE GOOSSEN, Arreola’s Trainer

“Chris and Andy are veterans. They’ve been around a longtime. They know how to turn on the switch when the time comes. We’re preparing for a great fight on May 1.

“When you have two guys of the same talent, how do you determine who wins the fight? It’s the fighter who’s in better shape. That’s the underlying thought process here. Both Chris and Andy have talent, but our goal is for Chris to be in the best shape possible. The difference plays itself out in those last few rounds of the fight.

“You’re going to have the best Andy Ruiz that we’ve seen in this fight. And we have the same on our side. Our team has been working hard as well. I don’t expect anything but a great fight. However many rounds this goes, nik su artifizialak izango da.

“We’ve been training for around four months but he hasn’t peaked too early because we’ve been consistent. Once we built up to a certain point, we’ve kept it there. He’s not worn out at all. This is what fighters are supposed to do. They’re supposed to be in the gym training.

“I’m very confident and calm heading into this fight, because Chris has been doing exactly what he’s supposed to be doing. That’s all you can ask for.”

LAS VEGAS(April 20, 2021) – Cuban star and WBA Super Welterweight ChampionErislandy "American Dream" Larapreviewed his quest to become a three-time, two-division champion as he prepares to take onThomas "Cornflake" LAMANNAfor the WBA Middleweight Title headlining FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes Saturday, Maiatza 1 from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Lara vs. LaManna serves as the main event of a broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT preceding the FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View event headlined by former unified heavyweight world championAndy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr.battling all-action heavyweightChris "Amesgaizto" Arreola, which tops a stellar boxing extravaganza all taking place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Lara will make his 2021 debut after his last fight saw him defeat Greg Vendetti by unanimous decision on FOX in August, making it three-straight fights without a loss combined with his knockout victory over Ramon Alvarez in August 2019 and a split-draw in a 2019 action fight against current 154-pound champion Brian Castano.

Prior to narrowly dropping 2018’s Fight of the Year to Jarrett Hurd, Lara was established as the longest-reigning 154-pound champion, owning six title defenses. Lara has faced a slew of top names in the division throughout the years, including Canelo Alvarez, Austin Trout, Alfredo Angulo, Paul Williams, Ishe Smith and Vanes Martirosyan, in addition to Hurd and Castano.

Here is what Lara had to say about training camp, moving up to middleweight and more:

On this recent training camp:
Training camp has been hard. I am working with my coach Ismael Salas, and things have just been very calculated and scientific. We got great sparring and I’m feeling young in my mind, body, and soul. I like the way the camp is being managed, and I expect to have a lot of success in this fight based on the preparation I have had in Las Vegas.”

On his matchup with LaManna:
Thomas LaManna is really big and tall and brings a unique style to the ring. This is not an easy fight at all, and I know I will have to be my very best to come out victorious. He has never fought for a world title so I am fighting a person who is looking to accomplish his lifelong dream of becoming a world champion. I am fully prepared, focused, and I’m expecting a tough fight.

On fighting for the vacant WBA middleweight title:
I’m looking to become a two division and three-time world champion. I take great pride in being a fighter that puts everything on the line. I want to face any-and-all challengers, and this will continue May 1. My goal is to be an all-time great and a legend in the sport. I’m moving up in weight to become a world champion and show the world I’m ready for new challenges.”

On what a win will do for his career:
A victory against LaManna will put me in position to challenge the other champions at middleweight. I am looking at unification bouts, I want the biggest bouts possible, but I must win this fight first. There are a lot of meaningful fights at middleweight, and I want them all. I want to be a Hall-of-Famer and go down as one of the best Cuban boxers to ever do it. For my legacy to be thought of that way, I have to fight the best.
