Duitsland, United States and Latvia Play Host to WBO Bouts

De World Boxing Organization (WBO), chaired by Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, will celebrate five interesting title fights; two of which are for world championships. The bouts will take place this Saturday, Mei 12.

Brooklyn native Saddam “World Kid” Ali (26-1, 14 KO's), coming off the most important victory of his career against legendary Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, makes the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight world title, when he faces the dangerous Mexican Jaime Munguía (28-0, 24 KO's). The fight will take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. The fight will be televised live on HBO at 10:00 p.m. EN.

“We will have a lot of activity this Saturday from the WBO. You have to pay close attention to the performance of the huge puncher Jaime Munguía, who will face a good attacker like Ali. It’s going to be a classic fight of puncher against a boxer. If Munguía wins, he would be placed on a select list of great Mexican boxers who have been world champions at or before 21 years of age”, said Valcárcel.

In Augsburg, Duitsland, women’s boxing takes the stage when the popular former world champion Nikki Adler (16-1, 9 KO's) of Germany and the world contender Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 KO's) of Belgium, face each other for the vacant WBO world belt of the super middleweight division. The fight will be in the Eisstadion in Augsburg.

“We remain committed and supportive of women’s boxing. Germany is no exception. This great fight has the community looking on because there is a world title at stake and the fight will be liked by the public”, said Valcárcel.

In Latvia, three WBO International titles will be in play in 12-round duels in an evening at the Riga Arena. For the vacant International junior middleweight belt, the 13th ranked Ismail Iliev (10-0-1, 3 KO's) of Nazran, Russia will face Konstantin Ponomarev (33-0, 13 KO's) of Miass, Rusland.

Ook, the WBO International Lightweight Champion and 5th ranked Isa Chaniev (12-1, 6 KO's) of Nazran, Rusland, will defend his title against the strong Venezuelan puncher, Ismael Barroso (20-1-2, 19 KO's).

For the vacant middleweight WBO International belt, Artur Akavov (18-2, 12 KO's) from Russia, will face against Argentina’s Gonzalo Coria (12-1, 5 KO's).

“We are making a presence in eastern Europe. Deze keer, it was Latvia’s turn to have boxers who are already ranked in the top positions of the WBO and for the rest of the year, could be fighting for world titles”, expressed Varcárcel.

Russia’s Elena Gradinar Gunning for The World’s Best Female Featherweights

#1-rated IBF Inter-Continental Female Featherweight Champion Elena Gradinar is calling out the rest of her division’s best.

The undefeated 27-year-old, from Saint Petersburg, Rusland, was last seen dominating former world champion Olivia Gerula in March. She has now set her sights on IBF Champion Jennifer Han and the top-rated female fighters in the featherweight division.

“I am very honored to have the Inter-Continental Title and be their number-one featherweight contender,” said Gradinar. “I want to demonstrate the true definition of a top contender and, spoedig, I believe a world champion by fighting the very best in every fight. This is a great time and space for women’s boxing and I am happy to be making my mark in this day and age.”

Based on her heavily decorated amateur career, Gradinar attained the designation of Sport Master of Russia in her homeland and has made quite a name for herself overseas. Het doel, echter, is for her to begin to make an impact in the US.

Her co-promoter, Dmitriy Salita, says Gradinar’s time has come. “Elena Gradinar has shown consistent improvement in her game and is one of the best fighters in the featherweight division. With woman’s boxing making huge strides, I believe that Elena will win a world title in the near future and make her US debut on a platform for boxing fans to see the high level of her talents.

Salita says his phone is always on if representatives of any of the world’s top female featherweights are interested in stepping up.

SINT PETERSBURG, Rusland (Mei 7, 2018

) – The first Spanish Olympia deadlift champion will face one of the strongest Russian athletes May 24 bij M-1 Challenge 92 in M-1 Arena in Saint Petersburg, Rusland.

Fredy Gonzales, ook bekend als “El Gigante,” is officially Spain’s strongest man. Born in Cuba, he always was a huge guy, so it’s no wonder that he chose football (voetbal) as his first sport to play. After playing that for a few years, Gonzales decided to start something new and he wisely chose powerlifting. It took him just a few years to win his first competition and very soon he started winning various huge events in deadlift and bench press, including the world championships.

Gonzales’ first attempt to win Olympia was not successful, but he was close to capturing the title, finishing in second place. Next following year he became the Olympia champion.

With his winning results of 837 lbs. (380 kg) in the dead-lift and 683 lbs. (310 kg) in the bench press, Gonzales officially will become the strongest person who ever stepped in the M-1 Global Rage.

Maksim Baruzdin is the strongest man in Saint Petersburg, Rusland. Starting his career in powerlifting, he won numerous medals and titles, benadrukt door de 2017 World Raw Powerlifting European Championships, tillen 793 lbs. (360 kg) in the deadlift. In addition to his power-lifting career, Maksim started taking part in different strongman shows and he now holds six official national records.

These long-time foes have been looking for new challenges and MMA is going to be their next stop. Strongmen will fight in the undercard of M-1 Challenge 92, which will be headlined by a SuperFight between world heavyweight star Sergey Kharitonov(27-6-0, M-1: 5-0-0) and young Russian power-puncher Anton Vyazigin (9-2-1, M-1: 4-1-0).

SINT PETERSBURG, Rusland (April 27, 2018) - Eternal confrontation: experience vs. youth will continue June 1st at M-1 Challenge 93 in Chelyabinsk, Rusland.

Ongeslagen M-1 Challenge middengewicht kampioen Artem Frolov (10-0-0, M-1: 7-0-0), who was mentioned by Fighters Only Magazine among the 20 top MMA prospects for 2018, will defend his title for the first time against American favorite Joe "Diesel" Riggs (47-17-1, M-1: 2-0-1). Frolov is known as a well-rounded fighter who has defeated all ten of his opponents, four of which he knocked out, and the other four submitted. Afgelopen oktober, Frolov captured the belt by defeating UFC veteran Caio Magalhaes, van Brazilië, met eenparigheid van stemmen, but he needed a break to heal his injuries.

At the same event, Riggs got his second victory in M-1 Global competition, extending his winning streak to six fights, all ended by TKO. SINT PETERSBURG, Rusland (April 23, 2018)) – Russische zwaargewicht ster Sergei Kharitonov returns to The Rage on May 24 aan de kop M-1 Challenge 92 bij M-1 Arena in Sint-Petersburg, Rusland.

Kharitonov (27-6-0, M-1: 5-0-0) faces his fellow countryman, upset-minded Anton Vyazigin(9-2-1, M-1: 4-1-0), in this Heavyweight SuperFight.

De 6′ 4″, 258-pound Kharitonov is undefeated in five M-1 Challenge events having defeated Geronino dos Santos (SUB1 – ankle lock), Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (KO1 – stempel), voormalige M-1 Challenge zwaargewicht kampioen Kenny “Drommel” Graanzolder tweemaal, at M-1Uitdaging 59 in 2015 at Kazakhstan (WTKO1 – stoten) en M-1 Challenge 53 in 2013 at China, (KO/TKO3 – letsel), en naar Alexei The Money bij M-1 Challenge 43 in 2013 Rusland (KO2).

The 37-year-old Kharitonov, has defeated some of the greatest heavyweight MMA fighters of all-time, inclusief Alister Overeem, Andrei Arlovski, Fabricio Werdum en Pedro Rizzo. Kharitonov has also fought in Strikeforce, K-1, Bellator and PRIDE.

Vyazigin, who stands 6′ 5″ and weights 250-pounds, is coming off a sensational 16-seconds knockout of Zaur Gadzhibabayev this past March at M-1 Challenge 89.

One other main card fight has been announced as striker Giga Kukhalashvili (9-3-0, M-1: 2-0-0) meets undefeated Khadis Ibragimov (3-0-0. M-1: 1-0-0) in a battle of undefeated Russian light heavyweights.

Op de voorlopige kaart, Franse lichtgewicht Mickael “Ragnar” Lebout (17-8-2, 1 NC, M-1: 1-0-0) meets rising Russian prospect Pavel Gordeev (10-1-0, M-1: 4-0-0). Lebout vs. Gordeev was scheduled to happed at M-1 Challenge 87, but Lebout was injured during training camp, forcing the Frenchman out of that fight. Lebout’s M-1 debut at M-1 Challenge 89 resulted in a win by first-round knockout of Sergey Faley. Gordeev is riding a three-fight win streak, all ending in unanimous decisions.

SINT PETERSBURG, Rusland (Maart 31, 2018) – M-1 Challenge kampioen weltergewicht Alexey Kunchenko verbeterde zijn professionele MMA-record tot een perfectum 18-0-0, het tegenhouden van de Russische uitdager Alexander “Iron Capture” Butenko in de derde ronde van de M-1 Challenge van gisteravond 9- main event, bij M-1 Arena in Sint-Petersburg, Rusland.

De 33-jarige Kunchenko (17-0-0, M-1: 10-0-0), ook uit Rusland vechten, is al bijna twee jaar kampioen weltergewicht van de M-1 Challenge, toen hij knock-out Murad Abdulaev in de vierde ronde op M-1 Challenge 65. Kunchenko gaf de zijne een inkeping 13^th knock-out tegen voormalig M-1 Challenge lichtgewicht kampioen Butenko (45-13-3, M-1: 11-3-1) in de derde ronde op stoten in zijn vierde succesvolle titelverdediging.

M-1 tilt zijn spel nog een keer op met zijn 90e editie. Leef vanuit hun arena in St.. Petersburg zullen we een nacht zien waarin MMA-sterren het tegen elkaar opnemen.

De speciale gast is Joe Riggs - een UFC- en Bellator-ster die het zal opnemen tegen Boris Polezhay in het co-main event..

Het hoofdevenement is een wedstrijd tussen de ongeslagen Aleksey Kunchenko die op een 17 win streak tegen Alexander Butenko.

SINT PETERSBURG, Rusland (Maart 19, 2018) – Amerikaanse mixed-martial-arts-ster Nate “De trein” Landwehr zal strijden om zijn eerste M-1 Global-titel, wanneer hij het opneemt tegen de gloeiende M-1 Challenge-vedergewichtkampioen Khamzat Dalgiev, in de M-1 Challenge 91 hoofdevenement in de nieuwe M-1 Arena in Sint-Petersburg, Rusland.

M-1 Challenge 91 zal worden live gestreamd vanuit Rusland in High Definition op www.M1Global.TV. De 29-jarige Landwehr (10-2-0, M-1: 2-0-0), die uit Clarksville vecht, Tennessee, maakte afgelopen september zijn M-1 Global-debuut M-1 Challenge 83, toen hij stopte Mikhail Korobkov op stoten in de tweede ronde. Het laatste gevecht van Landwehr was afgelopen november om M-1 Challenge 85, waarop hij een split beslissing won Viktor Kolesnik.

Sinds zijn eerste gevecht in Rusland, Landwehr heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een van de populairste gevechtsvliegtuigen van M-1 Global, grotendeels te danken aan zijn fanvriendelijke vechtstijl, evenals zijn showmanschap. Hij maakte zijn eigen promovideo, praat onzin op persconferenties, en brak uit in een “kont gillen” lied na zijn gevecht.

“De trein” doet nooit een stap achteruit, vanaf de openingsbel stoten uitwisselen met zijn tegenstander, wat vaak resulteert in spectaculaire gevechten voor MMA-fans.

Landwehr (boven) is een allround vechter die kan gronden of beuken

Dalgiev (10-1-0, M-1: 7-1-0), van Rusland, heeft gewonnen 10 vecht op rij sinds hij zijn profdebuut verloor in 2014. Afgelopen november om M-1 Challenge 86, Dalgiev leverde een schokkende prestatie, het uitschakelen van de oude M-1 Challenge-kampioen vedergewicht Ivan Buchinger in de openingsronde met een donderende klap die hem meteen een ster maakte.

In staat om zijn tegenstander op verschillende manieren te verslaan, Dalgiev heeft vijf gevechten gewonnen door onderwerping met drie knockouts, inclusief vijf onderbrekingen in de openingsronde. Als het aangrijpen van de gelegenheid zijn sterke punt is, Dalgiev zou torenhoog moeten zijn om tegen Landwehr te vechten in een van de meest verwachte M-1 Global-confrontaties in jaren.
