‘Fresh Productions Boxing’ showed that its young boxers has the skills to beat opponents who have won world titles.

 

 

 

From the Pedro ‘Perucho’ Cepeda Ballpark in the city of Cataño, Puerto Rico, Jonathan ‘Bum Bum’ López (5-0, 3 KO) din Puerto Rico, scored a unanimous decision victory over former WBA Interim World Champion and world title challenger José ‘Torito’ Rodríguez (32-8, 19 KO) din Mexic, in a scheduled six round fight in the bantamweight division (118 de lire sterline).

 

 

 

Rodriguez was stripped of a point in the first round for behind the head blows. The three judges scored 60-53 for the Puerto Rican Lopez, who had an outstanding amateur career (226-12) that includes a bronze medal in the World Boxing Youth Championships in Kiev, the Golden Belt in Ecuador, and was national champion of Puerto Rico for seven consecutive years.

 

 

 

In another great fight, WBC FECARBOX Lightweight champion Alfredo ‘Ojo’ Santiago (11-0, 3 KO), a native of the Dominican Republic and based in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, dominated by unanimous decision former WBA World Champion Jonathan Víctor Barros (41-7-1, 22 KO) of Argentina. The three judges scored 99-91.

 

 

 

Barros has victories over former world champion Celestino Caballero and former world contenders Miguel Román and Satoshi Hosono. The Argentine has also faced boxers of the caliber of Yuriorkis Gamboa, Mikey Garcia, Lee Selby and Miguel Berchelt.

Greg Cohen Promoții (GCP), Murphy’s Boxing and 12 Round Promotions are proud to announce the signing of undefeated super featherweight Abraham “El Super” Nova to a multi-year co-promotional contract.

Nova (12-0, 10 KO), born in Puerto Rico and now residing in Albany, New York, has looked like a future champion while trotting the globe and winning all his fights. The 24-year-old was last seen in May, scoring a KO 7 over Italy’s Hassan Nourdine at the RTL Spiroudome in Charleroi, Belgia.

Before his 2016 debut, Nova had an incredible amateur career in which he went 167-11 cu 60 KOs and was once the #1 ranked 141-lb. boxer in the United States. The prestigious titles he won include national and international victories at the 2014 USA Nationals, the 2014 Independent World Cup in the Dominican, and Gold at the 2014 Cheo Aponte Tournament, și 2015 Calificări olimpice. He is also a five-time New York Golden Gloves Champion.

Cohen says he’s not sure which 130-lb champion will be targeted (WBC: Miguel Berchelt, WBA: Gervonta Davis, IBF: Tevin Farmer and WBO: Masayuki Ito), but the plan is to move swiftly.

The Heavyweight Factory Inks Welterweight Prospect Derrieck Cuevas to a Promotional Contract

Kris Lawrence’s Heavyweight Factory Promotions is proud to announce the signing of undefeated welterweight power puncher Derrieck Cuevas (17-0-1, 14 KO) pentru un contract de promovare.

 

 

 

Cuevas, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, started boxing at the age of 10, after getting into frequent fights in the schoolyard. He went on to fight internationally and won the Puerto Rican National Amateur Championship at 132 lbs., ending his unpaid career with a final record of 123-14.

 

 

 

Turning professional in 2014, the 23-year-old won the World Boxing Association Fedecentro Welterweight Championship in 2016 with a unanimous decision over Daniel Sostre.

 

 

 

“I am very excited to have signed with Kris Lawrence and the Heavyweight Factory,” said Cuevas. “To reach my dreams, I will give all of me in the ring. I plan on becoming a world champion and making my beloved Puerto Rico proud.”

 

 

 

Cuevas has a strong team behind him, including manager Alex Troya, who facilitated the signing with Heavyweight Factory Director of Boxing Operations, Henry Rivalta.

Puerto Rico (Iulie 30, 2018) – Duminica trecută (22 iulie) în Caguas, Puerto Rico, Boxing For The World a organizat o alergare de 5K, care a servit drept strângere de fonduri pentru instituția The Make A Wish Foundation din Puerto Rico . Facilitatea (acasă) găzduiește copii cu cancer și alte boli terminale. Unitatea a suferit pagube majore din cauza uraganului Maria .

WBO News: Wilfredo Gómez crowned ‘Honorific Champion’ of the World Boxing Organization

In a crowed activity held in Arecibo, Organizația Mondială de Box (WBO), with the collaboration of former world champion Samuel ‘El Torbellino’ Serrano, brought together several former Puerto Rican world champions along with currents boxers to recognize the trajectory of former three-division world champion Wilfredo ‘Bazooka’ Gómez.

 

 

 

“Had the WBO existed in the Gómez era, he would have been our champion. But we still celebrate him because of his legacy in the ring and his great humility as a person. This belt that we preset to him today names him a WBO ‘Honorific Champion of Champions’, yet it is only a small sample of the affection and admiration that we have for him,” said WBO president Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel.

 

 

 

An excited Gomez said that “I thank with the WBO and Paco for their support and recognition on this day. Multumesc foarte mult. I am very happy with everyone who is here.”

Gómez won the gold medal in the first amateur world championships, held in Havana in 1974. He then jumped to the professional ranks and won world titles at 122, 126 și 130 de lire sterline. Organizația Mondială a box (WBO) announced the officials for this Saturday, Iunie 16, clash between WBO Jr. Flyweight Champion, Angel ‘Tito’ Acosta, din Puerto Rico, and ranked No. 10 by this sanctioning body Carlos ‘Chocorroncito’ buitrago, from Nicaragua, într-un programat 12 rounds bout.

 

 

 

The world title match will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan as the main event of a boxing evening presented by the Cotto Promotions. The Puerto Rican Luis Pabón will be the referee of the clash. Pabón is a veteran of over 400 professional boxing fights, inclusiv 168 world titles bouts.

 

 

 

The Coliseo de Puerto Rico, was the scene of Miguel Cotto’s first world championship, when the today’s promoter was crowned WBO Jr. Welterwweight Champion on September 11, 2004 after defeating Kelson Pinto, din Brazilia, by technical knockout in the sixth round.

 

 

 

Puerto Rican Jerry Martinez of Guaynabo and from the United States, Rocky Young, of Florida, and William Lerch, of Illinois, were appointed judges for the bout. The WBO Supervisor will be WBO President of the Classifications Committee Edgardo López Sasso, Esq.

 

 

 

For Acosta (17-1-1, 17 KO), it will be his first world title defense of the title he won last December by knocking out Mexican Juan ‘Pinky’ Alejo in the tenth round. La rândul său, buitrago (30-3-1, 17 KO) has held the WBO Youth and Latino Mini Flyweight titles.
