Former IBF/WBO Minimumweight World Champion Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez, Jr. (22-4-1, 14 KOs) fought late replacement Rolando “El Duende” Gusman (15-3, 9 KOs), of Argentina, in the 12-round WBC Flyweight World Title Eliminator. Rodriguez’ original protivnik, “Lil” Oscar Cantu (14-1, 1 KO), was injured in a car accident only days before the scheduled event.
Rodriguez, 23, won his first world title in 2014, stopping previously unbeaten Merlito Sabillo (23-0-1), the defending WBO minimumweight title fight in Mexico, u 10thkrug. Later that same year, Rodriguez successfully defended his WBO crown with a 12-round unanimous decision over IBF minimumweight title holder Katsunari Takayama (27-6) to become unified world champion. Rodriguez vacated both titles in late 2014.
The 23-year-old Rodriguez unsuccessfully challenged WBA Light Flyweight World Champion Donnie Nietes (35-1-4), the reigning IBF flyweight world champion, dropping a 12-round unanimous decision.

The televised opener is an eight-round, non-title fight between a pair of Mexican lightweights, WBC Latino champion Francisco “Paquito” Rojo (19-2, 12 KOs) and Mexican Pacific Coast titlist Isus “Kiligua” Velazco (13-9-2, 5 KOs).

LAS VEGAS (Jun 26, 2017) — Fresh off his sensational stoppage of previously undefeated Jose “Mexican Diablo” Rodriguez, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Nico Hernandez is riding the fast track to stardom on an exciting journey that’s just really started.
In the June 17th “KO Night Boxing: Rapid Fire” Main Event, which aired live on CBS Sports Network from Hartman Arena in Park City, Kanzas, Hernandez improved his record to 2-0 (2 KOs), dropping Rodriguez three times and closing the show in the third round..
The 21-year-old Hernandez, bori se Wichita, is already proving to be a better professional boxer that he was an amateur, despite all his accomplishments and achievements in the non-paying ranks, firing effective combinations from a wide variety of angles, including punishing body shots and devastating, powerful punches to his opponent’s head.

LAS VEGAS (Decembar 17, 2016) – Tonight’s final round of the 2016 “Knockout Night at the D” series ended in typical style as “Mighty” Aston Palicte won a 10-round split decision over previously undefeated “Lil'” Oscar Cantu in a terrific super flyweight match from start to finish inside the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center indoor facility.
The “Knockout Night at the D” serija, presented by D Las Vegasand Down town Las Vegas Events Center, was promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions. This evening’s seventh and final “Knockout at the D” event in 2016 aired live on CBS Sports Network and streamed worldwide on FloBoxing.tv
The Palicte vs. Cantu main event, as expected, was a classic match-up of contrasting styles between a dangerous puncher (Palicte) and consummate boxer (Cantu). There was surprising non-stop action from the opening bell. Power punching Palicte (22-2, 18 KOs) pressed the action as the clear aggressor, but Cantu stood in the pocket, suviše, as the technician used his defensive skills to make things difficult for his world rated Filipino opponent.

Los Angeles junior middleweight Flavio Rodriguez (6-0, 5 KOs) kept his undefeated record intact against previously unbeaten Mexican fighter Dilan “El Tremendo” Loza(5-1, 3 KOs) in the television opener. Rodriguez, who one point during his 4 1/2-year hiatus from the ring weighed 90 pounds more than he entered the ring tonight, won by way of a third-round technical knockout. Loza was hurt by an accidental shot to the base of his head in the third and he was later dropped in the same round by the heavy-handed Rodriguez. Sudija Jay Nady halted the bout after the third round.

In a pair of scheduled six-round fights, flashy 26-year-old Nichols meets another undefeated opponent, San Diego’s Kevin “KO” Ottley (3-0, 2 KOs), in an interesting match of unbeaten prospects that should propel the winner to the next level of the welterweight division, and constantly improving 21-year-old Moreno takes on Milwaukee’s Mike Fowler (5-3, 2 KOs) in the former’s eighth fight since turning pro March 20th. Cantu vs. Palicte will be contested for two belts as Cantu defends his North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super flyweight championship, in addition to the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-Continental super flyweight title.

“Palicte brings an impressive record and a lot of experience,” Cantu noted. “The road to a world title is a tough one, which means no easy opponents. I am really excited about this challenge. “Cantu is a smart boxer,” Palicte added. “I’d compare him to Ismael Garnica, who I fought in our Showdown at Sands in Macau. (Palicte won by way of a seventh-round TKO.) On (Cantu) is kind of a runner, suviše, always moving around the ring, but we can never tell one’s ability until we’ve fought.

LAS VEGAS (Decembar 1, 2016) – A super flyweight twin-title fight between undefeated Oscar Cantu i “Mighty” Aston Palicte headlines the final 2016 installment of the popular “Knockout Night at the D” serija u subotu noć, Decembar 17, emituje uživo (7 poslije podne. Cantu will defend his North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super flyweight title against Palicite. The vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-Continental super flyweight championship will also be contested in the 10-round main event.

The 25-year-old Cantu (14-0, 1 KO), fighting out of Kingsville, Teksas, is a pure boxer who is the reigning North American Boxing Federation (NABF) prvak, No rangirana. 3 by the WBO North American Boxing Organization (NABO) No i. 6 by the NABA. He is a belt collector having been the former NABF Junior super flyweight, World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Intercontinental bantamweight and World Boxing Council (WBC) United States super flyweight title holder.
U svojoj zadnjoj borbi, this past May at home in Kingsville, Cantu captured the vacant NABF flyweight title with a 10-round split decision victory over Samuel Gutierrez. Cantu’s most notable win to date is a 10-round split decision against previously undefeated Juan Antonio Lopez (10-0) u 2014 for the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental bantamweight crown.
Palicte, who will be making his US debut Dec. 17 having resettled in Los Angeles, where he’s training at the famed Wild Card Gym, to enhance his boxing career. Palicte has fought only once outside of his native Philippines as a professional. He has an experience advantage over Cantu in terms of fighting higher quality opponents.
