Antonio Vargas Elevated to WBA World Bantamweight Champion

Boxlab Promotions Celebrates First-Ever World Champion Under Its Banner
ORLANDO, FL (Gegužė 18, 2025) - Boxlab Promotions is proud to announce that Antonio Vargas has officially been elevated from WBA interim world bantamweight champion to WBA world champion following the World Boxing Association’s ruling. The move comes after reigning champion Seiya Tsutsumi suffered an injury that will sideline him for several months, forcing the WBA to designate him as “Champion in Recess.”

This historic decision makes Vargas the first world champion to be crowned under the Boxlab Promotions banner, marking a significant milestone for both the fighter and the Florida-based promotional company.

“This is an unbelievable honor and a moment I’ll never forget,” said Vargas, who captured the WBA interim title by defeating previously unbeaten Winston “El Fantasma” Guerrero (22-1, 13 Kos) back in December of 2024. “To be named WBA world champion is a dream come true. I’ve worked my whole life for this, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped me reach this point. “I also want to give all praise and glory to my lord and savior Jesus Christ as without him none of this would be possible.”

Vargas, a former U.S. Olympian and standout in the professional ranks, expressed deep gratitude for his team stating… “This isn’t just my title — it belongs to my entire team. My trainers, my strength and conditioning coaches, mano vadybininkas, and of course, my promoter Amaury Piedra and everyone at Boxlab Promotions. Without them, none of this would be possible.”

With championship gold now officially in his possession, Vargas is eager to keep proving himself among the elite. “The belt is just the beginning. I want to defend it, unify it, and keep challenging myself against the best in the division. I’m ready for what’s next, and I’m just getting started.”

Orlandas, FL (Lapkritis 7, 2022) – NABA vidutinio svorio čempionas Connoras „The Kid“ Coyle'as sekmadienį nepralaimėjimų mūšyje gins savo titulą prieš nokautu tapusį atlikėją Anibalą Cleto Francisco., Gruodžio 11 d., Orlando „Caribbean Royale“..

Kortelė vyksta per kasmetinį WBA šimtmečio suvažiavimą, kuri nuo gruodžio mėnesio vyksta „Caribe Royale“. 11-14.

Derio gimtoji, Šiaurės Airija, kuri treniruojasi iš Pinellas parko, FL Coyle's 17-0 su 7 Knockouts. Coyle'as praėjusią gegužę tapo NABA čempionu, kai pelnė sunkų sprendimą prieš Antonio Toddą.. This Friday showdown vs. unbeaten NABO champion Yomar “The Magic” Alamo

LAS VEGAS (Vasaris 27, 2020) – Undefeated super lightweightKendo „Tremendo“ Castaneda (17-0, 8 Kos) flew into Orlando from his native San Antonio this past Tuesday night on his first visit to Florida.

Unlike millions of people who go to Orlando for Disneyworld, nors, Castaneda’s initial look at palm trees is simply part of his business trip. Castaneda challenges North American Boxing Organization (KAIMYNAS) čempionasYomar “The Magic” Alamo (17-0-1, 12 Kos) in this Friday night’s 10-round main event, airing live on Boxeo Telemundo, pradedant 11:30 p.m. IR / 8:30 p.m. PT, from Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Floridos.

Alamo vs. Kastaneda is co-promoted by All-Star Boxing, which promotes Alamo and the event, and Castaneda’s promoter, Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions.

“It’s pretty cool here,” Castaneda shared his first impressions of Florida. “A guy working for the promoter met us at the airport to film my arrival and interview me, so it’s been a welcoming experience, and people in Florida know I’m in the house. I like it here. It’s nice and in a way, I feel like I’m at home. I’m going to put on a show for fans, I’m going to be like their Disney World. I’m ready for the big ride and to put on a great show for the people.”

Castaneda captured the vacant North American Boxing Association (Taip pat) crown a year ago, taking a 10-round decision from previously undefeatedGilbert Venegas, Jr(10-0), and followed that with an impressive 10-round unanimous decision over Dominican veteranEudy Berbardo (24-3).

Last October in Reno, Nevada, Castaneda stoppedMartyniouko valstija (20-3) in the sixth round, after which he was installed by the World Boxing Organization as its No. 15 rated super lightweight in the world.

WBO No. 8 ranked Alamo, fighting out of Puerto Rico, is coming off the only blemish on either fighter’s pro record, fighting to a draw withAntonio Moran (24-4-1).

Alamo, 24, is the former World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth World and FECARBOX super lightweight champion, who has made three successful NABO title defenses.

“After this fight,” Castaneda concluded, “people are going to forget this Alamo (not the famous Alamo in Castaneda’s hometown) and remember me, The Tremendous One. I expect the fight t to end in a spectacular knockout in my favor, late in the fight, because I like to punish my opponent.”
