GEIT hnefaleikaþjálfarinn….. Emanuel Steward

Bandaríska hnefaleikasambandið, Flokkur 2018 Innleiddur
(L-R) – Hinn frábæri Tommy Hearns & látinn Manny Steward

COLORADO SPRINGS, Hring.

Sem áhugamaður Boxer, hann tók saman a 94-3 met, auðkenndur með gull-Medal árangur á að 1963 National Golden Gloves Tournament sem bantamvigt, en hann ákvað að reyna ekki fyrir bandaríska ólympíuliðið í hnefaleikum.

Í 1971, Steward varð þjálfari í hlutastarfi hjá Kronk Gym, þar sem hann leiðbeindi að lokum mörgum af fremstu áhugamannaboxurum landsins. Kronk Gym varð síðar eign Stewards og hann þróaði það í einn farsælasta og frægasta box líkamsræktarstöð í heimi.

Steward starfaði einnig sem landsstjóri þjálfunar fyrir bandaríska box í byrjun 2000.

Allan sinn ótrúlega feril, Steward er að sögn þjálfaður 41 heimsmeistarar, kannski, athyglisverðust voru Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis og Wladimir Klitschko. Hann æfði líka Julio Cesar Chavez, Miguel Cotto, Oscar de la Hoya, Naseem Hamed, Evander Holyfield, og Mike McCallum. Manny þjálfaði einnig ungan Detroit rappara, Eminem, hvernig á að boxa í Kronk Gym.

Síðasti heimsmeistarinn sem Manny æfði var Adonis “Superman” Stevenson, sem er áfram ríkjandi World Boxing Council (WBC) Heimsmeistari í léttþungavigt síðan 2013.

“Emanuel myndi alltaf segja, knockouts selja!”

The event is topped by Philadelphia heavyweight Joey “The Tank” Dawejko (17-4-4, 10 Kos) taking on Detroit’s Demetrius Banks (9-1, 4 Kos) í átta lotu bardaga. Tickets are priced at Front row VIP: $150, VIP: $100, Ringside: $65 og General Aðgangseyrir: $45 and can be purchased at www.hardhittingpromotions.com.

So advanced in skills at a young age was Haney, a Mayweather family associate, that he turned pro in Mexico at 16 og, á aldrinum 18, is undefeated in 16 berst. He is trained by well-respected former world champion Mike McCallum.

Haney also has the distinction of being the youngest promoter in boxing, as he also operates Devin Haney Promotions.

This is the toughest fight of your career; did you do anything differently in training?

I did the same stuff I always do. This is what I’ve prepared for my whole life, so I’m always ready.

Tell me about working with an all-time great like Mike McCallum as your trainer.

I’ve been working with Mike for about three fights and it’s going great. I’ve learned a lot of things from him.

What do you think of your opponent, Enrique Tinoco?

I saw him fight a while back. Watched him live. He looks rugged and put some pressure on his opponent. He comes to fight, but I definitely know what to do with him. I had a lot of experience in the amateurs and have sparred a lot of great pros. I’m ready for whatever he has to bring to the able.

What’s it feel like when someone like Floyd Mayweather calls you the ‘future of the sport?’

Það finnst frábært. I worked hard for people to acknowledge me in the sport and compare me to the top fighters in boxing right now. Floyd is like a mentor to me. Both Floyds are. I just want to keep training hard an showing everybody that I really am the future of boxing. I don’t feel any pressure to perform perfectly every time though. I don’t believe in pressure. That’s all in the head. I’m just going to go in there and showcase my skills.

The Sugarhouse casino is located at 1001 N Delaware Avenue í Philadelphia.

“Iceman” John Scully’s 4th Official Amateur Boxing Reunion

This will be my 4th official amateur boxers reunion, with the first three having taken place in Las Vegas (Desember 2014), New York City (Júní 2015) and Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut (Júlí 2015).
Boxers who have attended previous reunions include the likes of four-time world champion Roy Jones Jr., three-time world champions MikeThe Body SnatcherMcCallum and IranThe BladeBarkley, WBO heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster, former WBC light heavyweight champion Montell “Ice” Griffin, 1988 Bandarískt. Olympic coach Kenny Adams.
I’ve had this idea to bring my former amateur peers together for many years and in December of 2014 at the Rival Boxing Store in Las Vegas I finally had my first amateur boxers reunion and it was a tremendous success. Since then I’ve had two more (at Jimmy’s -Glenn- Corner on W. 44th St. in NYC and at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut)successful gatherings that have seen everyone from local amateurs, regional Golden Gloves champions, National AAU champions, heimsmeistarar, Olympians and every other possible level of amateur boxer.
I had originally planned to have boxers from my Olympic trials class (1988)gather for a reunion but changed it to any era or level. On that end we’ve had boxers ranging from 1976 A.A.U. National champion Bret Summers from Washington State and 1976 Jamaican Olympian Mike McCallum all the way up to 2004 Bandarískt. Olympian Jason Estrada.
Basically it’s a chance for us to get together, reminisce, tell stories, see old friends, meet people we’ve never met before. Maybe the best example of what my reunions entail came at the 2015 event at Foxwoods when I had Hartford’s Luis Ortiz and Lawrence Clay-Bey meet for the very first time since they boxed each other as young kids at Marc Anthony’s in Hartford way back in 1977!
