The Swedish professional boxer, who is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, held the WBC Super Middleweight title from 2015 a 2017. He made his light heavyweight debut by defeating WBA World Champion Nathan Cleverly in August and will now look to become a three-time champion against Stevenson.

LAS VEGAS (Febrer. 17, 2018) – Former two-division world champion Danny Garcia returned with a vengeance, knocking out Brandon Rios in a WBC Welterweight Title Eliminator in the main event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING Dissabte on SHOWTIME from Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Returning for the first time since dropping a close split-decision to Keith Thurman in a welterweight world championship unification fight in March of 2017, Garcia reminded fans of his position amongst boxing’s elite at 147 pounds with an early candidate for 2018 Knockout de l'Any.
García (34-1, 20 KOs) did his best work in the center of the ring, where he was able to box at a distance and fend off Rios’ furious pace. Rius, who returned in 2017 from a brief retirement, was most effective against the ropes where he gave Garcia trouble with his constant pressure and his favorite weapon – a wide overhand right.
In the ninth round with the fight where Garcia wanted it – in the center of the ring – the Philadelphia native landed a huge counter right to the chin that sent Rios flat on his back. “I felt the ring rust a little bit in the beginning,” va dir García, who recorded the 20th knockout of his career. “He’s a good inside fighter and he was giving me some good uppercuts. The 21-year-old Benavidez and Gavril had fought to a close split-decision in one of 2017’s best fights that saw Benavidez drop to the canvas in the final minute of the 12º i ronda final. The Phoenix native had no trouble in the immediate rematch, utilizing a stiff jab and a steady diet of combo shots to win a near-shutout over the game Gavril.
Benavidez (20-0, 17 KOs) wore down Gavril with an intelligent body attack, pounding the midsection to open up power shots and jabs to the head. Benavidez had his best round in the fourth, connecting on a huge right uppercut that nearly floored Gavril – who appeared to be saved by the ropes – and then pounced with a series of damaging combo shots.
Benavidez appeared to hurt his right hand in the second half of the fight and stepped off the gas in the 10th, 11th and 12th. But Benavidez, who connected on 41 per cent dels seus tirs de l'energia, still landed the harder shots and utilized a stiff left jab to keep Gavril largely at bay.

Ugas, a former amateur standout who is now 6-0 since moving up to the 147-pound class, set the tone with a knockdown in the closing minute of the opening round. Robinson (24-3, 12 KOs) survived and was later deducted a point for hitting after the bell as the fourth round came to a close. The illegal punch floored an unexpected Ugas, who rebounded and continued to dominate the subsequent rounds.
In the opening minute of the seventh, the 31-year-old Ugas landed a massive right that floored Robinson, who beat the count but was clearly hurt. Ugas unleashed an onslaught with a series of combos, forcing referee Robert Byrd to step in to halt the contest at 1:05 with Robinson defenseless against the ropes.
Ugas landed 51 percent of his power shots and was comfortably ahead on all three judges at the time of the stoppage.
“I felt like I was the stronger fighter by far and he didn’t hurt me,” va dir l'Ugas. “He lost a point for hitting me after the bell sounded, and knocked me down, but even that didn’t hurt me. He was very awkward and his style threw off my timing.
“Luckily I was able to land body shots that I knew were hurting him. I was able to dictate the pace and we never in trouble.
“I want Errol Spence next. Everyone wants Errol.”

“There’s no weight issue at all. I’m perfectly on-weight right now. I’m perfectly fine health-wise, there’s no injuries. Estic 100 percent ready.”
DAVID BENAVIDEZ
“I’m going to put Gavril into retirement after this fight. Vaig a noquejar. This is going to be the fight of the night so you guys don’t want to miss it. He’s not going to want to box again after I get done with him.
“He dropped me but I wasn’t hurt at any point of that fight. I got back up and smiled. I did not feel his power at all.
“It wasn’t a tough decision to give him a rematch because it was a great fight. I just want to give the fans the fights they want to see. They said the first one was a war, let’s make this one a war too.
“I’m not offended by Gavril’s talk because he’s a good fighter. This is just more hype for the fight and more motivation for me to go in there and make it a war.
“Aquesta vegada, there’s going to be a little bit more boxing. I really want to put this guy away so in order to do that, I need to step up every part of my game.”

“Moving up from 140 a 147 a 2016 has been great for me. Putting on the extra weight only makes me stronger.

“I trained a little bit different this time. I had way more time than the first fight to prepare. Last time was four weeks, this time I had a full 10 setmanalment. I have done a lot of rounds of sparring and a lot of work related to this fight.
“I learn after every fight. From the first fight against Benavidez, I learned even more because it was a tough, tight fight.
“His people tried to make him a superstar before he fought me. I don’t know what people said after the first fight, but they should wait until after the rematch. I’m the stronger fighter.
“The difference in this fight is going to be who boxes smarter. I feel I’m the smarter fighter because if I need to box, I box; if I need to put pressure, I put pressure. I can adapt.
“I think this is going to be the fight of the year. It’s going to be special. The fans should all come see this fight because it’s going to be amazing with two warriors.

LAS VEGAS (Gener 30, 2018) - contendents de pes welter Yordenis Ugas i Ray Robinson s'enfrontaran en una eliminatòria pel títol FIB de les 147 lliures de 12 assalts en pes viu per SHOWTIME Dissabte, Febrer 17 des del Mandalay Bay de Las Vegas, en un esdeveniment presentat per Premier campions de boxa

 

 

 

 

 

Ugas vs.. Robinson comença una tripleta de SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING a les 10 p.m. I/7 p.m. PT que està encapçalat per una batalla entre el campió de dues divisions Danny García tenint a l'ex campió del món Brandon Rius en una eliminatòria pel títol welter. El co-estel·lar veurà campió mundial de les 168 lliures David Benavidez la defensa del seu títol en una revenja contra el top-classificat contendent de pes súper mitjà Ronald Gavril.

Ugas (20-3, 9 KOs), qui va néixer a Cuba i ara viu a Las Vegas, és un dels boxejadors més actius en l'esport i una ràpida elevador en la divisió welter. Després de perdre una decisió unànime a Amir en Imam 2014, de 31 anys d'edat, Ugas va prendre un any de llicència de boxa i va tornar a una llàgrima. Durant un lapse de 12 mesos a partir d'agost 2016 en agost 2017, Ugas guanyat cinc baralles consecutives, colpejant de competidors superiors i les perspectives incloent Jamal James, Bryant Perrella, Levan Ghvamichava, Thomas Dulorme i Nelson Lara, incloent múltiples victòries en assignacions de curt termini.

 

 

 

 

 

Robinson (24-2, 12 KOs) és l'epítom d'un lluitador Filadèlfia - un boxejador consumat que sempre ve a barallar i li agrada mantenir-se ocupat. Ugas representarà un dels reptes més difícils de la carrera de Robinson. El jugador de 32 anys d'edat, esquerrà va barallar tres vegades l'any passat i ve d'una victòria per decisió tècnica setè assalt sobre Breidis Prescott a Atlantic City el Juny 30.

“Em sento molt bé físicament i mentalment en aquest moment. El meu cos està descansat i llest per tenir una gran 2018 començament Febrer 17.
“Vostè ha d'estar centrat per tenir èxit en una baralla com aquesta i crec que Brandon Rius sap que. Estic entrenant dur, així que espero que sigui massa. Mai vaig a tenir una baralla fora.
“Aquesta és una baralla clàssica d'un boxejador puncher davant d'un lluitador. Vaig a estar preparat per a tot i començar 2018 de la dreta. He de ser el lluitador que sempre he estat.
“Estic sa i fort i llest per lluitar. Estic posant la pèrdua de Keith Thurman enrere i cap endavant. He de centrar-se en ser Danny García a Febrer 17. No puc pressionar i tractar de fer massa, Només he d'aconseguir la victòria.
“Els dos érem campions, al mateix temps en les 140 lliures i que no vam tenir l'oportunitat de combatre a continuació,, però és tot sobre el calendari en la boxa. Les coses tendeixen a treballar i ara estem preparats per anar de cap a peus.
“Jo mai cap avall i sé que Brandon Rius veu que a mi. Sempre em vénen a lluitar. Serà un gran duel amb els nostres estils i la nostra determinació.
“M'agrada veure les últimes tres baralles de la meva oponent. Crec que em dóna una bona indicació del que va a semblar en la nit de la baralla. He estat veient la cinta de la meva última baralla també, així que podem aconseguir un gran pla de joc en conjunt.
“Em sentia com si barallat la bona batalla contra Thurman. En realitat no participar. Vaig pensar que després de la quarta ronda estava bàsicament boxa d'ombra. Jo no ho culpo perquè cal ser ximple per estar davant de mi. Anem a fer alguns ajustos i afegir al que ja faig bé.
“No m'ha ofert la lluita Shawn Porter, però crec que seria una gran baralla. A ell li agrada passar al capdavant i jo sóc un gran boxejador i contra-colpejador. Crec que als fans els encantarà, però Shawn Porter d'anar amb compte amb el que està desitjant.”

“Tothom sap el meu estil. No sóc aquí per ballar, Vinc a lluitar. Vaig a entrar-hi amb el meu cor per mostrar al món que segueixo sent un dels millors que hi ha.
“Em sento fort i em sento rejovenit. El meu cos necessita descansar una mica perquè totes les meves baralles són guerres. Es va prendre un peatge en el meu cos i ara em sento tan bo com sempre. Estic a punt per mostrar al món una Brandon Rius diferent.
“Has de lluitar amb els millors per intentar ser la millor. Danny García ha estat a la part superior d'aquest esport durant molt de temps. Sempre estic a punt per a una prova.
“Solia no sempre tenen la formació i el meu pes tan seriosament com hauria d'haver fet. Jo era jove i ximple i he comès errors. Aquests errors són del meu passat i estic en gran forma en aquest moment.
“He estat entrenant molt dur per tenir un tanc de gasolina ple en la nit del combat. Em podria haver quedat retirat, però encara tinc en mi i encara hi ha més que pugui sortir d'aquest esport. Realment m'encanta la boxa i estic emocionat d'estar de tornada en una gran baralla com aquesta.
“Sempre estic segur quan em fico al ring. Tenir Robert García allà està tenint el meu germà amb mi. És només una altra veu que estic acostumat i que confio.
“Estar de tornada al ring va ser una malalta dels nervis poc, però jo estava feliç d'aconseguir l'anell d'òxid de. Vaig fer el que havia de fer i estava feliç de passar per aquesta experiència. Estic molt agraït d'estar en aquesta posició per lluitar contra Danny García.
“He estat preparat per lluitar amb qualsevol dels millors boxejadors. Vaig esperar i vaig prendre el meu temps, perquè sabia que anava a lluitar contra el que vulgui intensificar. Tinc el que volia i ara és el moment de prendre avantatge.”
DAVID BENAVIDEZ
“He de fer una declaració sobre Febrer 17. Me'n vaig Mandalay Bay amb el cinturó a la meva espatlla. He de aconseguir el nocaut i això és el que estic buscant fer.
“Ha estat el meu somni des que era un nen petit per unificar títols i això és el que estic treballant ara cap. Vull ser un dels millors en la història de la categoria de pes i estic treballant molt dur per aconseguir aquest.
“Sóc el més jove campió del món de pes súper mitjà de la història i vaig a mostrar per què Gavril. Estic molt motivat per buscar fins i tot millor que l'última vegada i aconseguir el nocaut.
“Vaig créixer en l'època on tothom va lluitar tot el món. Hi havia tanta energia i entusiasme en cada baralla i això és el que estic buscant per portar els aficionats. Això serà una gran baralla que no es vol perdre.
“Sento com si hagués guanyat el primer combat amb claredat. Gavril pensa que vindrà a noquejar ara, però si té tanta confiança, que hauria d'haver fet que a la primera baralla. Estic entrenant molt dur en aquest moment per anar-hi i li trenqui.
“L'estratègia d'aquesta baralla va ser una mica diferent. Tenim algunes coses que estem planificació. Però encara serà una guerra, perquè vull ser un lluitador d'usar ventilador. Estic esperant per robar el xou.
“Sóc el campió així que em sento com que estic en condicions de fer algunes grans baralles en el futur proper. Vull que el guanyador del torneig de les 168 lliures de la Sèrie Mundial de Boxa Súper. És un honor estar en la mateixa columna que els altres campions i no puc esperar per entrar al ring amb ells.
“No descuidar Gavril primera vegada. Jo sabia que ell era un competidor i ell va venir a dur i llest per lluitar. Conec el seu estil, així que ara vaig a anar a treballar cada vegada millor. Hi havia un munt de coses que hauria d'haver fet en la primera baralla. Aprofitaré aquest moment.”

“No vaig pensar que era tan bo com la gent va dir que anava a entrar a la nostra primera baralla. No hi havia cap lluitat combatents reals, pel que va veure el que va passar quan es va enfrontar a un.
“Estic molt feliç d'estar aquí i estar en aquesta posició per a una revenja. Vull agrair a David Benavidez per haver accedit a barallar amb mi. Vaig pensar que vaig guanyar la primera baralla, així que sabia el que volia això immediatament. Vaig obtenir aquesta revenja.
“He après molt des de la primera baralla. Jo sé el que he de fer-ho millor aquest cop. L'estratègia serà ajustat i treballaré encara més en el campament per estar a punt. Estic treballant en ser el millor que pugui mental i físicament.

“Puc fer moltes coses millor que a la primera baralla. He demostrat que tinc les habilitats en el primer partit, i ara vaig a millorar per aconseguir la victòria. Jo sóc aquí per una raó. No serà una baralla fàcil per a ell.
“Només estic pensant en David Benavidez en aquest moment. Estic posant tot en aquesta revenja i aconseguir el cinturó. quan guanyo, la resta es farà càrrec de si mateix.”
