NEF ANNOUNCES SUMMER’S HOTTEST FIGHT CARD

The event will make history as the first ever sanctioned hybrid mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and kickboxing card in Maine. Korábban ma, NEF announced the full fight card for the event. A mega-card consisting of two dozen bouts was released featuring a slew of MMA title fights, grudge matches, and kickboxing contests.

“This is old school NEF,” proclaimed NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “This will be reminiscent of the marathon cards we used to host in Lewiston back in the day. Just non-stop action from the time the first fight hits the cage to the last. We really wanted to put something special together for our debut at the Armory and for the debut of regulated kickboxing in Maine. This is a must-see event for combat sports fans!  You WILL get your money’s worth on this night!"

The big story of the evening is the retirement fight of Lewiston/Auburn’s own Jesse “The Viking” Erickson (11-9).  Erickson, one of the promotion’s most popular athletes, competed on the “NEF 1” card in Lewiston back in 2012. He has consistently been a top challenger for NEF’s pro lightweight title over the years representing nearby Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ).  Erickson will step into the NEF cage one final time, facing Massachusetts’ Brian Cosco (2-2) egy Catchweight a 165 pounds in a professional MMA bout.

The main event of the night will feature Nick Eldridge (4-0) defending the promotion’s professional MMA bantamweight title against the challenge of top Canadian prospect Olivier Poisson (3-0).  Eldridge won the 135-pound championship at “NEF 62” this past May handing previously undefeated Tim Fargo (3-1) the first loss of his professional career.

Eldridge’s Nostos teammate Nathaniel Grimard (7-5) will face First Class MMA’s Felipe Günter (3-1) in the hotly anticipated co-main event for NEF’s professional MMA featherweight strap. Both competitors have been extremely popular with fans throughout their respective careers. Both held gold with the promotion as amateurs.

Local favorite “Killa” Kam Arnold (6-1) will look to keep his four-fight win streak alive when he meets savvy Pennsylvania veteran Charlie “The Madman” Gathers (9-11) in a catchweight MMA bout.

Also featured on the professional portion of the MMA card: Fred Allen Sfeir (1-0) and Josue Sotero (1-0) will each put their undefeated record on the line in a featherweight contest; Tyler Smythe (5-6) returns to the MMA cage after a recent jaunt in the boxing ring to meet Erick Alvarado (2-2); and Rumford, Maine’s Nate Boucher (0-5) and Florida’s Paul Walters (0-7) both look for the first victory of their respective professional MMA careers in a catchweight bout.

Two title fights will headline the amateur MMA portion of the fight card.

Undefeated Nate “The Mule” White (7-0) will square off with Brandon Oldenburg (2-3) for the vacant amateur MMA heavyweight title. White will compete for the first time in 21 months. Oldenburg is on a two-fight win streak with two first-round knockouts.

Sean Wakefield (7-4) is scheduled to fight Preston LaPointe (4-1) for NEF’s amateur MMA welterweight belt. The pair previously met in Indiana this spring for a regional championship. LaPointe won a very close split decision in that first fight. A highly-competitive rematch is anticipated.

Also featured on the amateur portion of the MMA card will be a bantamweight bout between highly-skilled competitors Julian Connerton (6-3) and Qasim Abdullah (3-1).

Seven amateur kickboxing bouts are scheduled for the “NEF 63” undercard.

As the card order now stands, Ben Perry (0-0) from Nostos and Abdinajib Adan (1-0) of the Choi Institute will have the honor of being the first regulated kickboxing bout in Maine history.

William Lagasse (0-0) will meet Connor Morrill (3-0) in an amateur kickboxing bout. It will be a rematch of their first meeting – an amateur MMA fight won by Lagasse via first-round knockout.

Also on the amateur kickboxing portion of the card, 52-year-old Ice Young (0-0) will make his NEF debut against Daniel Heredia (1-0) in a light heavyweight contest.

He represents both 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu and the Lancaster Academy of MMA.

“On June 22nd, I will be flying in from the little town of Newark, Ohio to go to war with Nate Boucher for the NEF flyweight title,” said Presley. “I don’t know much about Nate, but I will be honored to share the cage with him. Prior to entering the MMA ranks, Carlton Charles made his mark on the football field. He made his NEF debut in the summer of 2017 with a 23-second knockout win. He would top that performance with a 12-second knockout victory in February 2018. After an unsuccessful attempt at capturing the amateur welterweight title against Duncan Smith (5-3) last June, Charles returned to the cage one month ago in New Hampshire and picked up yet another first-round knockout win.

“Mint mindig, I feel blessed and very grateful for the opportunity to fight for the belt,” said Charles.  “I know Jordan has come a long way in this sport and is always training hard and improving. I will be looking to not be caught by one of those big meat hooks that he has for hands. He’s a big powerful guy, and I’m going to be training hard as always to be able to go out and perform to my best ability. I know my coaches will have me ready for this one! have no doubt in my mind the fans will be in for a real treat with this one.”

Jordan Norman has indeed come a long way since his NEF debut last June. He lost that evening via first-round knockout, but Norman would come firing back in his next two bouts. He won a split decision over John Assam (0-1) tavaly ősszel, and just last month finished Greg Ishihara (0-1) in the second round. Norman represents the Bad Little Falls Dojo.

“I’m honored for the opportunity to get into the NEF cage and compete for the amateur title against someone like Carlton,” exclaimed Norman. “He and I will put on one hell of a show for the Lewiston crowd. Both of us come to fight and it won’t be any different on June 22nd. I have nothing but respect for him and his team. I’m excited for the task at hand and scrapping it out for the middleweight title.”

The middleweight title fight between Charles and Norman is the fourth already announced for the “NEF 39” card. Josh “Hook On” Harvey (6-0-1) is scheduled to defend the professional featherweight title against Jordan Downey (5-4), while Nate Boucher (4-3) will square off with Robert Presley (5-4) for the vacant amateur men’s flyweight belt, and undefeated Glory Watson (4-0) takes on Caree Hill (4-1) to crown NEF’s first amateur women’s flyweight champion. Also announced for the card, Jesse “A Viking” Erickson (9-7) faces Lewis Corapi (8-5) in a professional lightweight bout.

EWER WILL TRY TO MAKE CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY AT NEF 32

It took Ewer less than two minutes to finish Hansen with an arm triangle choke. The win not only earned Ewer the middleweight title but also a nomination for “2017 Submission of the Year.” Should Ewer emerge victorious over Lachinov on February 3, he will stand atop both the welterweight and middleweight divisions. He represents Young’s MMA of Bangor.

Lachinov represents Team Link of Ludlow, Massachusetts.

Lewiston, Maine (December 5, 2017) – No, you have not been transported back to the 9th century. There will be no longboats, no battleaxes, and no shield maidens present on February 3rd Lewistonban. The fight will be Erickson’s twentieth in the NEF cage, a record number for any one fighter in the promotion, but it will be a year since his last NEF appearance. He lost to Jon Lemke (7-8) in the semi-finals of the NEF Lightweight Title tournament last February at the Colisee. Erickson, an instructor with Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ), and a homegrown talent of Lewiston-Auburn, will be looking for a triumphant return after a recent loss in Canada.

“It will be a year since I’ve fought in Lewiston,” said Erickson. “The NEF cage is like home to me. I’m really looking forward to hearing my friends, család, and CMBJJ team as I enter the cage. Our schools are close to each other and we have competed against each other many times. It’s finally time for the coaches to get down and boogie. My pick for this fight is the fans for sure. Fans will not be upset.”

Hansen challenged Erickson to add a stipulation to the bout when they announced the fight publicly at “NEF 31” in Portland last month. Hansen would like the loser to receive a tattoo with the design chosen by the winner.

Lamour is the former New England Middleweight Champion, while Boyington held the NEF MMA Lightweight Title until relinquishing it last year to sign with the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) global promotion.

 

“Bruce and Russell are at the top of their respective games,” noted NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson. “Russell is a great boxer, and he’s going to face a superb striker in the form of Taekwondo black belt Bruce Boyington. This is a true dream match for Maine fight fans.”

 

The professional MMA portion of the fight card will feature the long-awaited return of former NEF MMA Featherweight Champion Sugár “Minden Business” Faipari (8-3) as he faces Brazilian prospect Alexandre “Csikk” Bezerra (19-5). Wood left Maine more than two years ago to re-settle in South Carolina and then Texas. Both Wood and Bezerra are veterans of the Bellator cage with a dozen fights between them for the national promotion.

Should the bout happen, it will undoubtedly be one of the highest-ever grossing matchups financially. They are both mega-stars in-state, each with his own army of loyal fans.

 

“With all the talk of McGregor versus Mayweather, it’s an interesting match,” said Lamour’s coach and head of the Portland Boxing Club Bob Russo. “One of the best middleweights in New England in boxing versus one of the best lightweights in New England in MMA . I was pleasantly surprised when we were called out by Boyington. We had been offered a few different opponents that we agreed to and I guess they had second thoughts. Then we got the call that this challenge was on the table. This is something that will create a real buzz among boxing and MMA fans.”

 

Lamour is the face of present-day professional boxing in Maine. He won more than 100 amateur bouts and is an eight-time regional Golden Gloves champion, a five-time New England regional champion and a Bronze Medalist in the 2009 USA Boxing championships among numerous other accomplishments. Lamour competed in the semi-pro World Series of Boxing where he was ranked number-one in the North American middleweight conference. Mint egy profi, Lamour has been outstanding. He captured the New England Middleweight Title in 2014. Lamour has competed on ESPN’s Péntek Night Fights boxing series before a national audience.

 

“I will fight anyone that ends up in front of me,” said Lamour. “I respect the MMA fighters, they are all tough guys, but to challenge in the boxing ring is a major mistake. I’ll be in great shape and ready. He better be too!”

Since signing with WSOF, Boyington has fought on some of the largest stages the world has to offer, including Madison Square Garden in New York City on the undercard of an event broadcast nationally on NBC. He has traveled as far as Russia to fight for major international promotion Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB). With WSOF taking some time to regroup under new ownership as the “Professional Fighters League,” Boyington was looking to stay active while awaiting his next national bout. The opportunity to fight in front of his many hometown fans one more time was irresistible.

 

“Boxing is his game, but I’ve had 25 professional fights and over 100 Taekwondo fights in my time,” Said Boyington. “I’m excited and honored to share the ring with the best boxing has to offer. The only thing I’m ever after is a challenge, and I have one in Russell. It’s exciting to compete back home where it all essentially began for me with NEF, so I thank Matt (Peterson, NEF co-owner) and Nick (DiSalvo, NEF co-owner) for the opportunity and to Russell – let’s dance baby!”

Borngod Washington is about as seasoned of a veteran as one will find in the boxing world. The native of Queens, New York has fought in the pro ranks since 2007. Washington’s career highlight came in 2011 when he scored a fourth-round TKO victory over Ricky Dawson (4-1, 1 KO), brother of former light-heavyweight champion of the world Chad Dawson (34-5, 19 KO). Washington also took current light-heavyweight contender Sean Monaghan (28-0, 17 KO) the distance in a four-round bout, losing a majority decision on the judges’ scorecards. He currently trains with John Wesley Meekins (25-5-2, 17 KO) New York-ban. Meekins challenged Meldrick Taylor (38-8-1, 20 KO) for the IBF Junior Welterweight Title in 1989.

 

“I’m excited to come to Maine and fight with my new trainer John Wesley Meekins in my corner,” mondta Washington. “I’m returning to form and ready to go, and I thank NEF for the opportunity to fight in Maine. I’ve got people from different areas coming to see the fight, and I know I’ll be ready”.

Casey “Buzzsaw” Kramlich (7-0-1, 3 KO), a native of nearby Gray, Maine, will take on Bryan Goldsby (4-3) in a super welterweight match scheduled for four rounds.

 

Kramlich is coming off the biggest win of his young career. Last month in Rhode Island, Kramlich handed Ray Oliveira, Jr. (7-1, 1 KO), son of former world title challenger Ray Oliveira, Sr. (47-11-2, 22 KO), his first loss. The majority decision victory was considered somewhat of an upset in that Kramlich had traveled to Oliveira, Jr.’s turf and spoiled the local prospect’s win streak.

 

Now back in Maine and training with the Portland Boxing Club, Kramlich is looking forward to once again competing before his hometown fans. He is a two-fight veteran of the NEF ring with two TKO wins to his credit in Lewiston.

 

“I’m really looking forward to fighting back in Maine and on an NEF card,” said Kramlich. “I always love to put on a good show for the home town fans and that’s exactly what your gonna get June 17th. While the fight did take place at featherweight, Belcarris had spent the majority of his camp training for a bantamweight bout with Elias Leland (3-2) until Leland had to pull out due to injury. Now with a full camp to prepare for a fight at featherweight, Belcarris promises improvements in his game.

 

“I’m working hard to improve upon my last performance,” said Belcarris between training sessions at NorthEast Assassins in Vermont. “A full camp with 145 as the target is a different setup. I will be ready!”
