BRISCOE AWARDS SET FOR THIS SUNDAY

PHILADELPHIA – Everything is set for the 11th Annual Briscoe Awards, sydd i'w gynnal Dydd Sul mae hyn prynhawn, Mawrth 25, 2018, 1-4 PM, yn y VBA Clubhouse in Philadelphia. “2017 was a memorable year for our local boxing scene, and it will be great to bring everyone together to celebrate it,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “Our event is really just a party – food, drinks, and a coming together of everyone who loves this sport. It’s always great to see the mix of people that come to the Briscoe Awards. The highlight however, is throwing the spotlight on the fighters who worked so hard to entertain all of us fans. It’s always a good day and a fun time.”
Attending the Briscoe Awards this year will be big winner TYRONE BRUNSON, who will receive three awards – am “Fighter”, “Ymladd”, ac “Performance of the Year”, AVERY SPARROW, both the “Prospect y Flwyddyn” ac mae'r “Breakout Fighter of 2017”, JARON ENNIS, named “The One to Watch”, DYLAN PRICE, y “Rookie y Flwyddyn”, MARCEL RIVERS, who scored the “Knockout y Flwyddyn”, RAYMOND FORD, y “Amateur of the Year”, ac JEROME CONQUEST, who will receive the “Everett Brothers Award”.

A limited number of tickets for the Mawrth 25, 2018 Briscoe Awards will be available at the door for $20. That ticket price includes admission, food, draft beer, wine, and soft drinks. PHILADELPHIA – After ten years of celebrating the biggest and best achievements of the Philadelphia-area boxing scene, the Briscoe Awards will change the timing of their annual event, from October to March.
“For a few years now, I’ve considered moving the awards up to the first part of the year,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “The original Fall time slot caused a lot of confusion, because by the time we gave out the awards, the fights were old news. Moving to March will allow us to give out the awards shortly after the fight year ends. I’m a little nervous about making a change, but in the long run, the move will only make the Briscoe Awards better.”
The Briscoe Awards honor the key fights and fighters of the Philly area every year. A total of eleven awards will be give out HWN SUNDAY MARCH 25TH AT 1 PM ET, which includes prizes for the “Philly Ymladd y Flwyddyn”, y “Philly Ymladd y Flwyddyn”, y “Knockout y Flwyddyn”, “Amateur of the Year”, “Rookie y Flwyddyn”, “Prospect y Flwyddyn”, “Performance of the Year”, “Photo of the Year”, ac yn fwy.
The fighters being honored this year include Tyrone Brunson, Jaron Ennis, Kermit CINTRON, Dylan Price, Avery Sparrow, Marcel Rivers, Raymond Ford, Jerome Concwest, and others.

Baltimore Boxing to honor late Scott Wagner March 22

Baltimore, MD (Mawrth 12, 2018) – Jake Smith’s Baltimore Boxing Promotions returns to Michael’s Eighth Avenue Mawrth 22 for a special tribute event to the late Scott Wagner.
Prior to Smith hosting his cards at Michael’s Eighth, Scott Wagner’s Ballroom Boxing ran more than 70 successful shows over a 15 year period. His series was a major hit and he featured many fighters that went onto become world champions such as Terence Crawford, Hasim Rahman, Kermit CINTRON, Orlin Norris and Al Cole. A longtime friend of Smith, Wagner stopped promoting in 2009 and graciously offered the family-owned Michael’s Eighth to Baltimore Boxing Promotions.
Ar Chwefror 16, Wagner passed away at age 49.
“Scott was one of my closest friends and I was devastated by his untimely passing,"Meddai Smith, who co-promoted with Wagner and also fought for him in 1996. “He ran one of the most successful promotions for more than a decade and did right by the fighters.
Scott Wagner the person was even better than the promoter. He always helped other people and his experience assisted me in expanding Baltimore Boxing Promotions. I am forever thankful and will always have a place in my heart for Scott Wagner.”
Headlining this Olympic style boxing event is a grudge match between Deshawn “Soulsnatcher” Chase and Ocean City, MD’s Omar Serrano for the East Coast Middleweight title. One of Baltimore Boxing’s top prospects, Chase looks for redemption against the only man to defeat him.
Yn y bout sylw-cyd y noson, Baltimore Boxing’s Tyrell Boyd meets Tyler Langer. Boyd is a multi-time champion but is faced with a tough foe that fights out of the highly respected Mack Lewis Gym.

Along with honoring Wagner, Baltimore Boxing is hosting a fundraiser for Brenda Davis. The wife of legendary trainer Adrian Davis, Brenda’s battled health complications that have severely impacted her. All proceeds from the fundraiser will help cover Davis’ healthcare costs.

Former two-time world welterweight champion Kermit CINTRON ac Marquis Taylor fought to a no-contest after an accidental headbutt caused a bad cut on the right eyelid of Cintron.

Blake Mansfield stopped Darryl Bunting in round five of their scheduled six-round middleweight bout.
The bout was entertaining as the two landed good shots on each other. Bunting was cut over his right eye from a punch in round two. Mansfield was deducted a point in round four as his mouthpiece came out several times.
Mansfield ended the fight in round five when he landed a hard combination that had Bunting in trouble on the ropes. Several hard an unanswered punches later, the fight was stopped at 36 eiliad.
Mansfield, 162.4 lbs of Burington, CC yn 6-1-1 gyda phedwar knockouts. Bunting, 163 lbs of Asbury Park, NJ yw 3-3-2.
Michael Coffie won a four-round unanimous decision over tough Nicoy Clarke in a heavyweight bout.

Juan Sanchez stopped Sergio Aguilar in the final scheduled round of the their four round featherweight bout.
Sanchez scored knockdowns in round one, two in round two, and finished the show with a hard left that sent Aguilar down and out with just five seconds remaining in the bout.
Sanchez, 125.5 lbs of Allentown, PA is 5-0 gyda dau knockouts. Aguilar, 123 lbs of Homestead, FL is 2-7.
Kendall Cannida made a successful pro debut with a four-round unanimous decision over Leroy Jones in a cruiserweight bout.
Cannida, 175.1 lbs of Philadelphia won on all cards by 40-36 sgorau. Jones, 174.5 pwys o Newark, NJ yw 2-2.
Martino Jules won a four-round unanimous decision over Malik Loften in a battle of previously undefeated featherweight’s.
Jules scored a knockdown in round two and won by scores of 39-38 ac 37-37 ddwywaith.
Jules, 127.1 lbs of Philadelphia is 3-0. Loften, 125.8 lbs of Suitland, MD is 1-1.

Philadelphia, PA (Gorffennaf 13, 2017) – The scintillating Pennsylvania Junior Middleweight championship bout that took place on June 24th between former two-time world champion Kermit CINTRON ac artist knockout Tyrone Brunson will have at least four airings in Philadelphia area in the coming weeks.
The first airing will Dydd Gwener hwn nos, July 14th at 9:30 PM ET on The Comcast Network.
Subsequent airings will be on Comcast Sportsnet on Dydd Mercher, July 19th at 9 PM;Dydd Sul, July 23rd at 11 PM ac Dydd Mercher, August 2nd at 8:30 PM.
Mae'r bout, which was won by Brunson via 5th round stoppage had five knockdowns, and saw Brunson come back from almost-certain defeat and take out Cintron in what ringside observers are calling a sure-fire Fight of the Year candidate.The match is added to the list of classic fights in the long storied history of Philadelphia boxing.

Philadelphia, PA (Mehefin 25 2017) -In a fight that exceeded it’s high expectations, Tyrone Brunson came back from two 4th round knockdowns to come back in the very next round to send former two-time world champion Kermit Cintron to the canvas three times, and win the Pennsylvania State Junior Middleweight title via 5th round stoppage at the 2300 Arena yn Ne Philadelphia.
The spectacular card was promoted by King’s Promotions.
“This was a tremendous fight, and all-around great card. Some fight’s and cards don’t live up to the expectations, but the main was one of the great fights of this year. I am proud of all the fighters who competed heno, as they all brought their best, and it showed in quality of the fights,”said King’s Promotions CEO, Marshall Kauffman.
The fight was nip and tuck for the first three-plus rounds, as Cintron looked very sharp early as he landed some hard right hands in the opening frame. Brunson came back and had a strong round two. The fight was fought on event terms until round four, when Cintron
dropped Brunson with a perfectly timed left hand. Later in the round, Brunson went down from an accumulation of punches on the ropes, and as the fourth round was finished, Brunson seemed just about done as well.
Brunson miraculously came back in round five and turned the tables on the former champ, as he landed a beautiful left that sent Cintron to the canvas. Cintron, was hurt and theprodigious puncher, Brunson was ready to finish off Cintron. Cintron never regained his legs and was sent to the canvas two more times, and referee Shawn Clark waved off the bout at1:21.
Brunson is now 25-6-2 gyda 23 knockouts. CINTRON Darllen, PA falls to 39-6-3.

In the co-Feature, Victor Vazquez won a six-round unanimous decision over Anthony Burgin in a super lightweight bout.

Vazquez dropped Burgin in round two from body, and he took the hotly contested battle by scores of 58-55 ddwywaith ac 57-56. Vazquez of Yonkers, NY is now 8-3. Burgin of Philadelphia is now 10-4.

Steven Ortiz registered two knockdowns en-route to a thrilling six-round unanimous decision over Tyrome Jones in a battle of previously undefeated lightweights.
Ortiz scored knockdowns in rounds three and four in a bout where both guys landed some effective blows.
Ortiz of Philadelphia won by scores of 59-53 ddwywaith ac 57-56 to remain perfect at 7-0. Jones of South Bend, IN is now 4-1.
Jerome Concwest won a six-round decision over Jae Ho Kim in a lightweight bout.
Conquest was dropped with a left hook at the end of round three, but he controlled the action, and won by scores of 59-55, 58-55, ac 57-56, ac mae bellach 8-2. Kim of Philadelphia via South Korea is now 6-4-1.
Brandon Robinson dominated and took out Rafael Valencia at 2:48 of round two of their scheduled four round super middleweight bout.
Robinson landed a hard right that sent Valencia to the canvas. Valencia got up, but deemed unable to continue at 2:48.
Robinson of Philadelphia is 4-1 gyda thri knockouts. Valencia of Medford, OR is 3-8-1.
Gregory Clark won a six-round unanimous decision over Daryl Bunting in a super middleweight bout.
Clark of Washington, DC won by scores of 59-55 ddwywaith ac 58-56, ac mae bellach 3-1-1. Bunting of Asbury Park, NJ yw 3-2-2.
Marcus Bates remained undefeated by winning a six-round unanimous decision over Roberto Pucheta in a bantamweight bout.
Bates of Washington, DC won by scores of 59-54, ac 58-55 twice and is now 7-0-1. Pucheta of Jalisco, MX is 10-12-1.
In a battle of undefeated heavyweights, Colby Madison and Joel Caudle battled to a majority draw.
Caudle took a card at 58-56, tra bod dau cardiau yn hyd yn oed ar 57-57.

Chaise Nelson won a four-round unanimous over Jordan Peters in a super bantamweight bout.
