In the buildup to tonight’s world championship bout, Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KO) repeatedly promised that the fight would not last long. The towering Tuscaloosa, Ala. native kept his word, scoring the 20^th first round knockout of his career and his 15^th knockdown as heavyweight world champion. Breazeale (20-2, 18 KO) was able to withstand Wilder’s first early onslaught, but could not beat referee Harvey Dock’s 10-count when Wilder connected flush with the most dangerous right hand in boxing later in the opening round.

“Everything just came out of me tonight”, Said Wilder. “I know it’s been a big buildup, there’s been a lot of animosity and a lot of words that were said and it just came out of me tonight. That’s what makes boxing so great.

“I just told Breazeale I love him and of course I want to see him go home to his family. I know we say some things, but when you can fight a man and then you can hug him and kiss him, I wish the world was like that. We shake hands and we live to see another day and that’s what it’s all about.”

As the attention of the heavyweight division turns to what’s next, Wilder insists that a fight with Tyson Fury, the only man he has faced and not defeated, or Anthony Joshua remains on the table and in the works.

“I understand what Fury did,” Said Wilder. “When you get dropped on the canvas like that I understand you have to get yourself back together. But the rematch will happen, like all these other fights will happen. The great thing is all these fights rare in discussion. The big fights will happen. I just want you to have patience.”

Breazeale, whose only two defeats have now come against both Wilder and Joshua, was disappointed he wasn’t allowed to continue the fight.

“I think the ref stopped it a little early because I could hear him saying seven and eight, but that’s boxing,” Said Breazeale. “He did his job and kept us safe for our next fight.

“I got on my feet and had my legs under me. It’s the heavyweight division so there’s going to big shots from guys with power. This was a situation where he landed the big right hand before I did. I thought I was going to come on in the later rounds. I’ll be back and go for the heavyweight title again.”

Russell, who was fighting for the first time in a year, showed no signs of ring rust and displayed his full skillset including his trademark lightning quick hands. The tempo picked up in the fifth round, as both fighters landed several heavy blows but the momentum shifted towards Mendez. The 32-year-old Mendez, who has fought seven current or former champions, closed out the fight exceptionally strong, winning the final round on all three judges’ scorecards. Without doing so, Mendez would have lost the fight.

While one judge scored the fight 77-75 for Alfonso, another had it 77-75 pro Kiladze, with the third judge scoring it 76-76, resulting in the draw.

Also entering the ring was 2016 U.S.. “These fighters always get into great shape and think they have the game plan to beat me. They think they’re going to catch me. It’s not going to work. Nothing this guy has prepared for is going to work.

“I hope he brings the best he can bring. This is more than just a boxing match. I’m passionate about what I do. This has been a long time coming for me and Dominic. He asked for this, and he shall receive.

“It’s going to be an amazing night for me, and a sad night for him. Being heavyweight champion is a big responsibility. Not everyone is made to be a champion. It’s more than being glamorous or carrying around this prestigious belt.

“I’ve trained harder than I’ve ever trained. He’s got me inspired like I was against Bermane Stiverne. I want to hurt Breazeale so bad. I’m going to keep my composure until that time comes Saturday night.

“My whole team has been with me since day one. We started together and we’re going to go all the way together. It’s been an amazing run for me. I started my career at the very bottom and worked all the way to this point.

“Deontay and I were on the same Olympic team, plus Dominic and my little brother Gary Antuanne Russell were also U.S. Olympionici. It makes for an amazing card on Saturday night.”

“I come to fight and get that title. I had a very smooth training camp and feel 100 percent physically.

“I think my experience is superior. He thinks I’m only a pressure fighter, but he hasn’t seen me box the way I’m going to box him on Saturday.

“This is the biggest opportunity of my life. To be on this platform and be able to fight for the championship is very special. I’m going to make the most of it.

Wilder’s triumph marked the return of heavyweight prizefighting in America and the end of an eight-year drought without an American heavyweight world champion, the longest in the history of the sport.

“There has been a long line of great American heavyweight champions who represented our country with pride, strength and honor in the ring,” Said Wilder. “I take the responsibility very seriously to pick up where they left off and continue to show every young fighter who looks up to me, that they one day can be the heavyweight champion of the world.

“I’m a champion of the world, but I represent for the entire country and everyone in it,” Said Wilder. “I’ve fought challengers from all around the world, knowing in my mind how important it was to keep this title in the U.S.

If successful on May 18, Wilder will become just the 10^th fighter in the more than 135-year history of heavyweight boxing to make nine or more consecutive successful heavyweight title defenses. “On paper he’s the toughest fighter I’ve faced,” Said Heraldez. “I only watched some of his fight against Ramirez, but being a former world champion, it means he’s doing something right. I don’t think he does anything better than me and I’m looking to show it on fight night.”

This will be Heraldez’s first fight on SHOWTIME, giving him a chance to shine on a big stage leading up to the Deontay Wilder heavyweight world title defense against Dominic Breazeale in the main event. For Heraldez, he sees this is an opportunity to display what he’s already being doing in the ring for years.

“I’m excited to be able to show off what I’ve always been able to do,” Said Heraldez. “It’s going to be no surprise to the people around me who know what I’m capable of. It’s another stage with more people watching, but the ring and everything else stays the same.

“A fight like this adds more motivation for my future because I want to keep changing the lives of my family. Kousek po kousku, win by win and fight by fight, I can accomplish that. That’s where my motivation comes from.”

A Las Vegas-native who is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, Heraldez believes he’s ready for a world title shot and knows that Argenis Mendez is currently in his path to getting that coveted opportunity.

“If the title fight is there after I beat Mendez, beru to,” Said Heraldez. “That’s one of the ultimate goals and something I’ve been preparing for my whole career. I’m going to keep training hard like I always do to be at my best against Mendez. I’m going to have a great performance May 18 and they won’t be able to deny my place in this division.”

**On his matchup against Ishe Smith:**

“Ishe Smith has been in the ring with the best of them and he’s never been stopped. He knows how to fight and I’m expecting him to be at this best. I will have to dictate the pace right from the opening bell. My goal is to be the first person to take him out, but if it goes the distance, I’m okay with that as well. I’m going to win this fight and win it impressively.”

**On training with new coach Kevin Cunningham:**

“Kevin is a no-nonsense type of guy. He’s going to tell you the truth if you like it or not. If I’m doing something wrong in his eyes, he’s going to speak on it right away. He’ll do the same if I’m doing something right, so I like his style of training and I’m learning more each day we are together. This will be our first fight together and I’m excited to get back in the ring. We have a nice game plan in place that we will execute on fight night.”

**On training in Las Vegas for the first time in his career:**

“Training in Las Vegas is no joke, because we are training in higher elevation than what I’m used to in Florida. Getting away from the distractions at home has been relaxing. I’ve been getting great sparring and my timing is right on point. Las Vegas is definitely the place to be for high level sparring and training.”

**On fighting in Southern California for the second time in his career:**

“I really like fighting on the west coast. The fans are great, and the weather is beautiful. I know we’ll be fighting outdoors so I’m looking forward to that. Everyone knows this venue has hosted some really good fights. I’m looking to steal the show on Saturday night.”

LAS VEGAS (Srpen 4, 2018) – Lehké uchazeč Ladarius Miller (17-1, 5 KO) vyhrál konkurenční jednomyslné rozhodnutí nad Dennis Galarza (16-4, 9 KO) v hlavní události Premier Boxing Champions na Bounce v pátek večer ze Sam’s Town v Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS (Červenec 11, 2018) – Rostoucí uchazeč Ladarius Miller (16-1, 5 KO) bude čelit Dennis Galarza (16-3, 9 KO) 10kolový zápas v lehké váze, který je titulkem Premier Boxing Champions na Bounce Friday, Srpen 3 ze Sam’s Town v Las Vegas.

Televizním vysílání začíná na 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT a představuje 10kolový zápas welterové váhy mezi nimi César Barrionuevo (34-3-2, 24 KO) a Abel Ramos (19-3-2, 14 KO) plus neporažená juniorská welterová váha Juan Heraldez převzetí Kevin Watts(11-2, 4 KO) v souboji naplánovaném na 10 kola.

Čtyřiadvacetiletý Miller je od únorové prohry na roztrhání 2016, předváděl zvýšenou sílu a rychlost, která ho definovala od chvíle, kdy se stal profesionálem 2014. Miller vyhrál sedm zápasů v řadě, včetně vítězství nad Jamelem Herringem a dříve neporaženým Maynardem Allisonem. Narodil se v Memphisu, ale žije a trénuje mimo Las Vegas jako profesionál, Miller si letos ve svém adoptivním rodném městě připsal už dvě přestávková vítězství.

“Cítím se teď skvěle a jsem šťastný, že se vracím do ringu,” řekl Miller. “Mám za sebou skvělý tým a dávají mi motivaci bojovat a trénovat ještě tvrději než kdy předtím. Galarza je pro mě další krok a někdo, koho si velmi dobře uvědomuji. V tomto dalším boji musím být trpělivý. Pokud uvidím příležitost na knockout, půjdu do toho, ale není to plán. Mám sadu dovedností. Jediné, co můžu udělat, je jít tam, stáhnout jeho plán, a reagovat. Mým cílem je vždy poskytnout fanouškům vzrušující show, když jsem tam venku.”

Galarza, vynikající amatérský boxer, vstoupil do soutěže a v dubnu upustil od úzkého rozhodnutí pro veterána Ednera Cherryho. 25letá Galarza, který je z Brooklynu, ale trénuje v Orlandu, vyhrál tři přímé zápasy a bude se snažit dostat zpět do vítězného sloupce ve stejné budově, kde loni v červnu vyhrál 10kolové rozhodnutí proti Omaru Tiendovi..

“Před nikým neustupuji a Ladarius Miller není výjimkou,” Said Galarza. “Odešel jsem ze svého posledního zápasu proti Edneru Cherrymu s vědomím, že jsem boj vyhrál, i když jsem nedostal rozhodnutí. Devětadvacetiletý Barrionuevo bojuje ze Salty, Argentina a od té doby je argentinským šampionem welterové váhy 2015. Do tohoto boje vstupuje jako vítěz svého posledního 10 soutěže, včetně prvního kola zničení Adriana Luciana Verona v lednu. Barrionuevo bude dělat své U.S. debutovat, když v srpnu vstoupí do ringu v Las Vegas 3.

Boj z Casa Grande, Arizona, Ramos debutoval ve welterové váze tím, že loni v červenci zastavil Emmanuela Roblese, než v dubnu bojoval s jednou poraženým Jamalem Jamesem a prohrál těsnou většinou.. 27letý hráč se odrazil dvěma přestávkami 2018 a ve svém životopisu má remízy proti mistru světa Maurice Hookerovi a uchazeči Levanu Ghvamichavovi.

Heraldez je nepřekonaný od chvíle, kdy se stal profesionálem 2009 a vychytal dosud největší vítězství své kariéry, když loni v srpnu triumfoval nad dosud neporaženým Josem Miguelem Borregem v zápase Mayweather vs.. Podkarta McGregora. Boj z Las Vegas, 27letý mladík udělá svůj 2018 debut v srpnu 3 snažící se posílit své kandidátské pověření.

Rodák z Los Angeles Watts vrátil svou kariéru zpět na správnou cestu, když v dubnu vyřadil knockout nad tehdy poraženým Ryanem Karlem a doufá, že na tom naváže dalším pozoruhodným vítězstvím v srpnu. 3. Šestadvacetiletý hráč vyhrál svůj první 11 profi bojuje, než utrpí porážky s tehdy neporaženými bojovníky Eddiem Ramirezem a Josem Miguelem Borregem.
