Those guys were my heroes when I was coming up. When I got the phone call to take this fight, it wasn’t even a question. HALL OF FAMER “THE GOLDEN BOY” OSCAR DE LA HOYATO ATTEND 2024 HALL OF FAME WEEKEND Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary Celebration set for June 6 – 9
CANASTOTA, NY – MARCH 18, 2024 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum, which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2024, is pleased to announce that Hall of Famer “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya will attend the Banquet of Champions and other events planned for planned for the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 6-9.
“From Olympic gold to world titles in six divisions, Oscar De La Hoya captured the imagination of boxing fans around the world,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are very much looking forward to welcoming ‘The Golden Boy’ back to Canastota for the Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary celebration.”

De La Hoya capped a 223-5 (153 KOs) amateur career by capturing lightweight gold at the 1992 Jeux Olympiques. He turned pro the same year and captured his first world title – the WBO super featherweight – in only his 12th pro bout and would go on to win 10 world titles in six weight divisions.

Among the champions he defeated include Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga and Hall of Famers Hector Camacho, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker and Arturo Gatti.

One of the biggest pay per view attractions in boxing history. De La Hoya retired in 2008 with a pro record of 39-6 (30 KOs). En 2002 he established promotional powerhouse Golden Boy Promotions. En 2014 “The Golden Boy” was elected into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

An impressive list of over 35 boxing greats from the United States and abroad, including the Class of 2024, returning Hall of Famers and special guests will participate in the Hall of Fame Weekend celebration.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Octobre 19, 2017, 2017) – Son intronisation au Temple de la renommée de la boxe du Connecticut (CBHOF) Samedi nuit, Octobre 28, dans le cadre de la classe de six membres 2017, mettra fin à la carrière de boxeur du juge sortant Clark Sammartino à 13TH Dîner annuel CBHOF Gala d'intronisation dans la salle de bal Uncas au Mohegan Sun.
Les autres nouveaux intronisés au CBHOF sont des boxeurs pionniers “Professeur” Charles Hadley, médecin de l'anneau Dr. Tony Alessi, arbitre / juge Dick Flaherty, écrivain de boxe Et Parker et contributeur boxeur / boxe Hugh Devlin, Sr.
Diplômé de l'Université Brown, Sammartino, maintenant âgé de 80 ans, a connu deux autres carrières en tant que chirurgien buccal et conseiller en investissement chez Blue Fin à Providence, en plus de son rôle de juge de boxe international depuis 1985.
“J'ai commencé la boxe parce que Joey Angelo épousé ma cousine,” Sammartino a expliqué. “Il a riposté au début des années quarante. Joey a combattu Willie Pep deux fois et Sandy Saddler. C'est ce qui m'a fait démarrer. Nous avions l'habitude d'avoir le grand Lundi Night Fights à l'Auditorium de Rhode Island et je me souviens avoir regardé Rocky Marciano se battre “Tigre” Ted Lowry là-bas.”
Parce qu'il était un chirurgien buccal réussi, Clark pourrait prendre de longs week-ends pour juger des combats dans le monde entier. Son premier combat pour le titre mondial et le plus mémorable fut Vinny Paz-Greg Haughn I. A travers sa longue carrière, Sammartino a jugé plus de 400 combats professionnels, y compris 50 combats majeurs pour le titre mondial.

Sammartino, qui dit fièrement qu'il n'a jamais manqué une journée de travail 40 ans, a décidé de prendre sa retraite, bien qu'il restera un fan de boxe pour le reste de sa vie. “J'ai commencé à ralentir à mon âge, faire des spectacles locaux et peut-être trois ou quatre combats pour le titre mondial par an, principalement WBO et IBF,” Sammartino a fait remarquer. “J'ai eu un combat difficile avec la pneumonie dans le passé 5-6 mois et cela a rendu le travail difficile.”

Le combat sera diffusé en direct sur HBO dans le cadre de sa série «HBO Boxing After Dark», qui commence à partir de 9:45 h (EST) au Collège Park Center, situé à l'Université du Texas à Arlington.
“Je suis juste deux livres au-dessus de la limite de poids. Il s'agit d'atteindre le Texas et de poursuivre le plan de travail pour la lutte,” dit Thomas Dulorme qui a continué, “Je ne laisserai pas tomber mon peuple de Porto Rico et les Latinos”.

Dulorme Team is composed of Puerto Rican trainers, Anthony Otero, Felix Pagan Pintor et Oscar Seary, better known as Don Khan. “Crawford est l'un des meilleurs combattants au monde. Il a été décerné “Fighter de l'année” par de nombreux médias parce qu'il avait une année extraordinaire en 2014. Il est le déplacement en masse où il est entrer dans un territoire inexploré si. Je sens que je ai l'avantage étant que je ai combattu à ce poids à plusieurs reprises. Je suis le plus grand homme et je prévois d'imposer ma volonté sur lui.”

Le légendaire entraîneur, Felix Pagan Pintor, a été confirmée à rejoindre le groupe de formateurs portoricains élite qui sera soutient Thomas Dulorme ( 22-1, 14 KO ) dans son coin. Sur Samedi, 18 avril, Dulorme sera face au plus grand défi de sa jeune carrière, comme il fait face à la “2014 Boxer de l'année” et le champion du monde des poids légers Terence Crawford ( 25-0,17 KO ) dans un combat pour le championnat du monde prévu 12 tours pour titre vacant WBO Welterweight du monde junior. La lutte aura lieu à College Park Centre situé sur le campus de l'Université du Texas, Arlington. La lutte sera télédiffusée en direct sur «HBO Boxing After Dark ', à partir de 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.
“Dans une partie à distance des montagnes de la région orientale de l'île de Porto Rico, un groupe de formateurs expérimentés élite travaillent dur avec Dulorme en préparation pour la lutte. Felix Pagan Pintor a plus 40 années d'expérience de boxe. En 1977 il avait son pro-débuts comme un combattant tout en étant en même temps un entraîneur. Il a travaillé plus 60 combats de championnat du monde avec des combattants légendaires tels que Wilfredo Gomez, Hector «Macho’ Camacho, Ivan Calderon, Paul Williams, Carlos Santos, entre autres.

Crawford a été reconnu comme le «2014 Boxer de l'année ', un prix décerné par l'Association de boxe Writers of America ( BWAA ) pour ses victoires a noté plus de Ricky Burns, dont il a pris le titre mondial WBO. Il a ensuite défendu son titre avec succès à deux reprises contre Yuriorkis Gamboa et Ray Beltrán.

D'autre part Dulorme est frais de remporter une victoire contre le rival du monde Hank Lundy et avant cela, Dulorme terminé record invaincu de Karim Mayfield dans un combat dont il a remporté par décision unanime.

Dulorme est actuellement classé #2 par l'Association mondiale de boxe ( WBA ), #3 par le World Boxing Council (WBC ) et la Fédération internationale de boxe ( IBF ), tandis que #5 par l'Organisation mondiale de boxe ( WBO )
