Irish amateur standout Tommy Hyde turning pro April 2nd at home in Cork

CORK, Ierland (Februari 10, 2022) – Three-time Ireland National Champion Tommy Hyde will turn professional April 2nd at home in Ballyvolane, Kurk, on a show at The Big Top, Glen GGA Grounds, promoted by his father, renown international boxing manager Gary Hyde.
The 22-year-old Hyde, who participated in more than 100 amateurwedstrijden, reached the quarterfinals of the prestigious World Junior Championships in 2015. He was a 9-time National finalist, captured top honors at the 2019 Harringey Box Cup, and was a 3-time Celtic Bux Cup gold medalist.

“Since I started boxing at the age of seven,” the heavy-handed light heavyweight said, “it’s been my dream to box as a professional in Cork, Ierland. I grew up going to world championship shows all over the world and I’ve always wanted to fight at that level. Op april 2nd, I will take the first step in getting there. I’ve had more than 100 amateur fights and feel it’s time to make the move to the pros and fulfill my lifelong dream.”

Hyde is training in Springfield, Massachusetts, under Hector Bermudez, who has trained world champions TJ Doheny, Jonathan Guzman, Carlos Gongora, Vince Phillips, Ryad Merhy and Javier Fortuna.

“I am absolutely thrilled to promote a show in which my son Tommy will make his pro debut,” proud father Gary added. “I’ve travelled the world to sign amateur fighters from so many different countries and this kid was in the bedroom next door.”

European Super Featherweight Champion Samir Ziani calls out Tevin Farmer: “Farmer has chickened out” of WBC Eliminator

PARIJS, Frankrijk (April 18, 2021) – European Super Featherweight Champion Samir Ziani (32-3-1, 7 KO) has called out Tevin “American Idol” Farmer (30-5-1, 6 KO), former International Boxing Federation World Super Featherweight Champion, to fight June 5th for the WBC Silver belt in a World Boxing Council (WBC) eliminatie strijd. The winner would position himself for a title fight against WBC World champion Oscar Valdez.

The battle of left-handed super featherweights would be on the June 5th Triller pay-per-view card in Florida, headlined by undefeated World lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (16-0) vs. George Kambosos, Jr. (19-0), supported by an exhibition fight between 4-time World heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield en Mike Tysonconqueror Kevin McBride.

Decorated amateur boxer Mohammed Rabii To make pro debut Feb. 18 at home in Morocco

CASABLANCA, Marokko (December 21, 2016) – Moroccan amateur boxing sensation Mohammed Rabii will make his long anticipated professional debut Februari 18, fighting at home in Casablanca, at the Complexe de Sportif Mohammed V Arena.
The 23-year-old Rabii represented Morocco at this year’s Olympic Games in Brazil, where he captured a bronze medal in the welterweight division, losing a disputed decision (0-3) in the semifinals to Uzebek boxer Shakhram Giyasov, who then lost (0-3) in the championship final to Daniyar Yeleussinov. Rabii had defeated Yeleussinov, Kazachstan, in the gold-medal championship bout of the AIBA World Amateur Championships. A gifted orthodox fighter, Rabii was the past World Series of Boxing Fighter of the Year, who signed an exclusive, multi-year managerial contract last October with Nowhere2Hyde Management, which is owned and operated by international manager Gary Hyde, of Cork, Ierland.
“We are delighted to have signed one of the best amateur boxers in the world,” Hyde zei. “Mohammed has a great style with knockout power in both hands. Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Juni 15, 2016) – Six-time Irish amateur champion Cornelius “Con” Sheehan is set to make his Canadian debut against an opponent to be named Donderdag, Juli 28 at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, Ontario.

A month ago in an unusual move, Rigondeaux’ manager Gary Hyde formally petitioned the WBA to enforce a mandatory title fight between his WBA Super champion and Quigg. Hyde is awaiting the WBA’s decision. Rigondeaux is also the World Boxing Organization (WBO) en De Ring tijdschrift super bantamgewicht kampioen.

Next month, Hyde reports, Rigondeaux will travel to the United Kingdom in a bold attempt to embarrass Quigg into fighting him. “I don’t like traveling overseas unless I have a fight lined up,” Rigondeaux explained, “but I will travel to England in May to publicly call out Scott Quigg. If he turns down the chance to fight our WBA mandatory, he will be remembered for that instead of being known as a great fighter. While I’m in the UK, I will also go to Belfast to checkout Carl Frampton to ask if he wants to prove himself against the best in his division.”

 

Understanding that the top super bantamweight action is currently in Europe, noting a record purse ($2.2 million USD) offered for a Frampton vs. Quigg fight, Rigondeaux is considering a major change in the not too distant future, moving his base from Miami to the UK, if that’s what it takes for him to get in on the action.

De 6′ 5″, 235-pond Sheehan is een zes-time Ierse National Senior Division kampioen, het winnen van vier titels op zwaargewicht en twee bij super zwaargewicht, die ook gevangen een gouden medaille op de prestigieuze Europese Kampioenschappen. In 2008, werd hij de jongste Ierse Senior zwaargewicht kampioen op de prille leeftijd van 18, en hij won in totaal 13 Ierse kampioenschappen op verschillende niveaus van de concurrentie.

“Ik heb Con's amateur-carrière volgde helemaal door vanaf het begin en we hadden de mogelijkheid besproken om samen te werken voor enige tijd,” Hyde zei. “Con is een fysisch model van een mens en een zeer getalenteerde vechter. Legendarische Ierse sport expert Jimmy Magee becommentarieerde, “Con Sheehan is een grote, hedendaagse reus van een zwaargewicht die vecht met de vlotheid van een middengewicht.”

 

Hyde aanwezig beheert ook, verleden en toekomst wereldkampioenen zoals World Boxing Association (WBA) Super & World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamgewicht kampioen en tweevoudig Cubaanse Olympisch gouden medaillewinnaar, Bill “The Jackal” Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KO), WBA Interim cruiserweight kampioen Yuri “El Toro” Kalenga (21-1, 14 KO), voormalige WBO middengewicht kampioen en huidige International Boxing Federation (IBF) Niet Doen. 1 verplichte mededinger Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (31-1, 18 KO), drie keer Cubaanse Nationaal kampioen, super bantamgewichtMarcos Forstal (1-0, 1 KO), en wereldkampioen bij de amateurs Blagoy Naydenov.
