Mexico's Jose Alfredo “kleine stier” Rodriguez belooft vuurwerk in zijn komende wereldtiteluitdaging.
Op Zondag, Januari 29, 2017, in het Studio City Casino in Macau, China, Rodriguez (32-4, 19 KO), van Mazatlan, Sinaloa, zal proberen zijn tweede wereldkampioenschap te winnen door Cavite City uit te dagen, Philippines’ IBF-wereldkampioen supervlieggewicht Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas (25-1-1, 16 KO) over 12 rondes.
De voormalige interim-WBA-kampioen licht vlieggewicht Rodriguez zegt dat hij vastbesloten is terug te keren naar waar hij thuishoort in het boksen.
“Ik nam twee jaar vrij van boksen en miste het kampioen worden. Vorig jaar kwam ik terug met een missie om nog een titel te winnen en dat is wat ik ga doen,” Said Rodriguez. “Niets kan mij tegenhouden. Als ik de juiste tijd krijg om me voor te bereiden, Ik ben een van de beste ter wereld. Dat is wat ik tegen Ancajas zal laten zien.”
De linkshandige Ancajas won zijn titel in september vorig jaar met een unanieme beslissing over McJoe Arroyo. Het gevecht tegen Rodriguez zal zijn eerste verdediging zijn.
Rodriguez's manager José A. Acevedo van Free Agent Boxing Management, zegt dat zijn vechter training op het hoogste niveau krijgt voor deze confrontatie.
“Torito werkt samen met zijn geweldige trainer, Gilslum, bij Big Time Boxing in Port St. Lucie, Florida en Caicedo Sport Training Center in Miami,” zei Acevedo. “En nog belangrijker, hij is aan het sparren met een aantal uitstekende vechters om zich voor te bereiden, waaronder voormalig wereldkampioen Juan Carlos Payano, WBA-NABA bantamgewichtkampioen Stephon Young en aankomende vedergewichttiteluitdager Claudio Marrero. Dit is het beste dat ik hem ooit heb zien kijken. Hij is vastbesloten om dit kampioenschap te winnen. Dank aan Manny Pacquiao en Sean Gibbons voor deze geweldige kans.”
“Ancajas is een goede vechter en ik respecteer hem, maar er is niets dat zijn titel van mij kan redden,” vervolgde Rodriguez. Ik dank hem voor deze kans, het is een droom die uitkomt, maar hij gaat als ex-kampioen naar huis. Ik zal die avond een onverslaanbare kracht zijn.”

Team Rodriguez Setting Sights on ‘Chocolatito’
José A. Acevedo of Free Agent Boxing Management wishes to congratulate his fighter, Jose Alfredo “kleine stier” Rodriguez, for winning both the UBF All-Americas and Latino Super Flyweight Championships in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, Virginia, op zaterdag (December 10).
A former interim WBA Light Flyweight and WBC Youth World Light Flyweight Champion, Rodriguez, now ranked #15 door de IBF, scored an eight-round decision over Puerto Rico’s former WBA Fedecentro Super Flyweight Champion, Edwin “Puto” Rodriguez (8-3, 5 KO), no relation.
The victory marked the first time Sinaloa, Mexico’s Rodriguez had ever competed in the United States.
Although the Puerto Rican was able to get inside a few times, Rodriguez used his jab to keep him outside and controlled the action for most of the fight.
“Torito got some good rounds in against Rodriguez,” said manager Acevedo. “This will help him brush off that ring rust. I am very happy with his performance. I knew this fight was going to go the distance, because ‘Puto’ is een goede vechter. Torito is very strong though, with a bright future ahead of him.”
Acevedo says the win was the first step pin his plan to put Rodriguez in his dream fight.
“Next we will be looking to fight the best of the best to get Torito back on top. He wants to be champion again and he’ll fight anyone to get there. But the fight he really wants is (current WBC World Super Flyweight Champion Roman) Chocolatito (Gonzalez). That’s who we are gunning for.”

Free Agent Boxing Management Signs Managerial Agreement with Former World Champion Jose Alfredo Rodriguez

José A. Acevedo of Free Agent Boxing Management proudly announces the signing of former world champion Jose Alfredo “kleine stier” Rodriguez to a managerial agreement.
27-jarige Rodriguez (31-4-0, 19 KO) van Sinaloa, Mexico, won the Interim WBA World Light Flyweight Championship on November 19, 2011, by upsetting then 27-1 Nethra Sasiprapa of Thailand. He also won the WBC Youth Intercontinental Light Flyweight Championship in 2009 and made four successful defenses. He is also a former sparring partner of Nicaraguan four-division and current WBC World Super Flyweight Champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez.
Currently looking for the third fight of his comeback after nearly two years off, 27-year-old Rodriguez plans to compete in the flyweight and super flyweight divisions.
“I am happy to sign with Free Agent Boxing,” Said Rodriguez. “My career was on hold for a while, but I am back now and eager for my team to find me big fights. Taking some time off did me good. I have never felt this strong and healthy. I’m looking forward to getting a few more wins and then winning back my championship.”
Acevedo who has previously done well for his brother, former super middleweight contender Roberto, and middleweight puncher Jorge Melendez in advisory roles, says he’s beginning to work with Rodriguez at the perfect time.
“The flyweight and super flyweight divisions are red hot right now,” he said. “I am working to get Torito a ranking by the IBF and WBC. He said he wants to fight the best, so we are working to find him the fights that will get him to a title shot. One guy he really wants is (IBF Champion Jerwin Ancajas from the Philippines). We’re hoping to get him in the ring soon.”
