“L'unique” Sharad Collier Back in action Oct. 10 at Foxwoods

HARTFORD, Conn. (Août 21, 2018) – Hartford blue-chip prospect “L'unique” Sharad Collier returns to action October 20, on a show presented by CES Boxing, at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

 

 

 

The two-time New England Golden Gloves champion made his professional debut this past June 16, on his promoter’s Hartford Boxing Promotions’ événement inaugural, “Nuit de combat à la capitale”, in which he registered a sensational first-round knockout of Antonio Castillo Jr. (1-1), au Xfinity Center à Hartford.

 

 

 

Collier will step-up in competition, fighting in to his first scheduled six-round bout Oct, 20, against undefeated Springfield, welters MA Derrick Whitley, Jr. (4-0, 0 KOs), the son and uncle of well-known retired New England fighters.

 

 

 

“I feel the same as I did in my pro debut, maybe less pressure, but I’m more familiar with the guy I’m fighting October 20e,” Collier said. “I fought and beat his cousin and brother in the amateurs. I feel like he’s out for revenge for them.

 

 

 

“I’m motivated to be fighting at Foxwoods. I feel like that’s fighting under the big lights, where I fought once as an amateur. I signed my contract the first day, I’ve been training hard in the gym every day. My pro debut was against a 1-0 gars, my second is against another undefeated fighter. I believe in my skills. I want to separate myself to show people that I am special.”

 

 

 

The 21-year-Collier has dedicated his boxing career to his uncle and father. His uncle was murdered three years ago, outside of a venue in which Sharad was boxing and his father has been in and out of prison. Collier grew up in toughest part of (south) Hartford, spent time in a detention center and, at times, lived in and out of foster homes.

 

 

 

“It was my idea to move up now to six rounds,” Collier noted. “I’m familiar with my opponent. I’m not sleeping on this kid but, if I don’t get him out early, it will just mean there are more rounds for me to beat him up.”

 

 

 

“We’re excited,” Collier’s promoter Tony blanc ajoutée. “Dans ses débuts pro, he was up against a 1-0 adversaire, and now he’s stepping up to fight a 4-0 opponent in his first six-round fight. That’s why they call him’ The Special One.'”

Mashantucket, CT (Juin 4, 2017) – L'incroyable retour de Mat “Tireur pointu” Rémillard a continué hier soir alors que le populaire poids léger du Connecticut s'arrêtait Fatiou Fassinou dans le Broadway de boxe tête d'affiche tenue au Fox Theatre, au Foxwoods Resort Casino, à Mashantucket, CT.
Le Broadway de boxe la série est promue par DiBella Entertainment et présentée par Nissan of Queens, Montres Azad, OPTYX, et Christos Steak House.
Rémillard, 30, était le non. 2-classé poids plume au monde en 2011, quand il a perdu face au futur champion du monde Mikey Garcia (LRTD11). Combattre de Manchester, CT, le combat de ce soir était le premier de Remillard dans son pays d'origine en six ans et demi, parce qu'il purge une peine de cinq ans de prison. Il est revenu sur le ring en avril dernier, prendre une décision en huit tours Augustin Mauras, à Worcester, MA.
Dans la manche d'ouverture, Rémillard (25-1, 14 KOs) et l'habile béninois, ancien champion d'argent international WBC Fassinou (27-6-3, 14 KOs) ont appris à se connaître car les deux combattants étaient prudents. “Contre un gaucher, le crochet gauche au foie est là, un coup de poing pour lequel je suis connu,” Rémillard a commenté après le combat. “Il était un peu plus bâclé que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Je me sentais bien; Je suis 24/7 dans le gymnase. Peut-être que j'aurai un combat de plus cette année pour participer à quelques rounds, puis préparez-vous pour un grand 2018. Je veux une revanche avec Garcia, à 135 ou 140 livres, 100-pour cent. Il me doit une revanche. Le gars qu'il a battu n'était pas moi.”
Rouslan Chamalov (L) & George Arias a tourné dans le combat de la nuit
Dans la co-métrage, deux poids lourds basés à New York, 6'5″ Russe Rouslan Chamalov (4-1, 3 KOs) et dominicain “Gentilhomme” Georges Arias (7-0, 3 KOs), se battre à Brooklyn et dans le Bronx, respectivement, mettre leurs records invaincus en jeu. Les coups de poing puissants de Shamalov ont secoué le 5’11 beaucoup plus court” Arias au premier tour, mais Arias est resté hors des cordes et a beaucoup mieux boxé dans la seconde. Les deux combattants ont échangé des bombes tout au long d'un formidable troisième round et, d'une certaine manière, le quatrième était encore meilleur avec des allers-retours, action non-stop. Le rythme s'est légèrement ralenti au cinquième tour, préparant le terrain pour une sixième et dernière image à la bombe qui n'a pas déçu.
Shamalov et Arias se sont battus à un rythme effréné, surtout pour les poids lourds, dans un légitime six rounds “Combat de l'Année” candidat. Airs, le chef de l'équipe Wash Em’ Dans le Bronx, a remporté une décision unanime en six tours par des dizaines de 60-54, 59-55, et 58-56.
“Cette victoire était énorme pour moi,” dit un Arias ravi, après son premier combat en six rounds. “J'avais un plan de match, mais une fois il m'a fait mal au premier tour, mon coeur a pris le dessus et je me suis juste battu. J'aime me battre pour le peuple, alors j'ai tenu le premier au lieu de prendre un genou.”

Favori du public “Merveilleux” Mykquan Williams (7-0, 4 KOs) s'est offert un cadeau de fin d'études secondaires alors que le combattant d'East Hartford battait le poids welter nicaraguayen Arielle “Guerre” Vasquez (13-18-2, 9 KOs) dans le premier combat en six rounds du premier. Williams, 19 ans, un quintuple champion national amateur, est une star en herbe avec un énorme potentiel. Prêt au-delà de ses années, Williams a contrôlé le rythme contre son adversaire gaucher testé au combat, qui est 11 années Williams’ Sénior, affichant son vaste arsenal de coups de poing, surtout sa combinaison gauche-droite qui a atterri régulièrement. Williams’ les mains rapides ont explosé pour la première fois à la fin du deuxième tour, puis il reprit son assaut au troisième, alors qu'il se dirigeait vers une décision de blanchissage en six rounds, avec trois décomptes de 60-54.
Williams est diplômé le Juin 20 de PrinceTech. “C'était un bon cadeau de fin d'études,” Williams a dit. “La vitesse de ma main a joué un grand facteur. Il était un dur à cuire, surtout pour mon premier six rounds.”
Jennifer Salinas (R) en avait trop pour Marquita Lee

Un 2016 Nouvelle-Angleterre d'or Gloves champion, Todd a acquis une expérience inestimable contre les super-welters méfiants Nicolas Sarouna (12-9-1, 9 KOs), du Togo, qui a pris un genou après avoir été touché par un uppercut sournois au troisième tour. Un droit brutal au foie a remis le Mexicain sur le tapis, dans une douleur évidente, comme arbitre Joey Lupin a immédiatement abandonné le combat à 1:05 de la première ronde.
Poids croiseur cubain Luis “Le lion” Garcia (15-0, 12 KOs) a gardé son record professionnel parfait intact avec un KO au premier tour de son adversaire mexicain surclassé Felipe Romero (19-14-1, 13 KOs), combats de San Diego. Vivant maintenant à Peekskill, New York, Garcia a laissé tomber Romero avec un coup droit dans les premières secondes et il n'a jamais lâché, blessant constamment Romero avec une série de droits dévastateurs. Garcia a clôturé le spectacle avec un uppercut puissant, arbitre principal Johnny Callas d'arrêter l'action au 1:48 marque.
Trois fois membre de l'équipe nationale de boxe portoricaine Jose Roman (4-0, 3 KOs) a parcouru la distance pour la première fois contre un match William Hill (2-3), de Detroit. Le super poids welter portoricain qualifié a appliqué la pression de la cloche d'ouverture, en utilisant une attaque au corps féroce sur Hill, qui a été piégé dans les cordes pendant la majeure partie du combat. Les juges ont compté 40-36 deux fois, et 39-37, tout pour Roman par décision unanime.

Le concurrent poids plume invaincu de DiBella Entertainment, Luis Rosa, s'est également battu Samedi, en tête d'affiche d'une carte au Floyd Little Athletic Center dans sa ville natale de New Haven, CT, face à Carlos Osorio, de Managua, Nicaragua. Rosa a fait pression sur son adversaire tout au long du concours, l'épuisant avec une attaque constante contre le corps. Osorio était partant et avait un coup dur, bien que les combinaisons du favori de la ville natale à l'intérieur aient contribué à diminuer la puissance de frappe du Nicaraguayen. Croyant qu'Osorio avait subi beaucoup de punitions, l'arbitre a interrompu le combat au 1:25 marque de six rondes, décernant à Rosa la victoire du TKO. Avec la victoire, Rosa s'est améliorée pour 23-0 (11 KOs), tandis que le record d'Osorio est tombé à 13-7 (5 KOs).

Dernière Août, Vincent est entré en territoire ennemi pour défier sa rivale Heather Hardy dans la ville natale de son adversaire, Brooklyn, New York. Ce sera son premier combat dans son pays d'origine depuis novembre 2010. Un pro depuis 2005, Rémillard est un ancien WBC Youth, WBC-USNBC, Champion poids plume NABF et NABO. Sa seule défaite est survenue en mars 2011 à l'invaincu Mikey Garcia, maintenant le champion du monde des poids légers WBC. Il est formé par Paul Cichon, une légende locale et un leader communautaire, hors de la salle de boxe de la Manchester Ring of Champions Society. Comme un amateur, Rémillard a accumulé un record de 115-25, et a été deux fois champion national amateur des moins de 19 ans de l'Everlast.
Perspective très vantée des poids welters d'East Hartford Mykquan Williams (6-0, 4 KOs) a gardé un rythme chargé depuis qu'il est devenu pro en avril dernier. Promu par DiBella Entertainment et géré par Jackie Kallen, Williams, 19 ans, reviendra à Foxwoods, où il s'est construit une solide audience, pour la sixième fois, dans son premier six rounds programmé. Williams est également formé par Cichon, qu'il connaît depuis qu'il est enfant et qu'il considère comme un père de substitution. Son père biologique a été assassiné alors que Mykquan n'avait qu'une semaine. Williams était un amateur décoré avec un 45-13 record, souligné par trois performances médaillées d'or aux Championnats du monde Ringside, en plus d'avoir remporté le tournoi PAL et les championnats des gants d'argent.
Les poids lourds invaincus basés à New York entreront en collision dans leurs tests les plus difficiles à ce jour, quand le russe Rouslan Chamalov (4-0, 3 KOs) rencontre dominicain Georges Arias (6-0, 3 KOs) dans un concours de six rondes.
Né à Tcherkessk, Russie, et vit maintenant à Brooklyn, le 6'5″ Shamalov a été deux fois champion amateur de MMA avant de passer à la boxe et de s'engager dans 30 combats amateurs tout en participant à l'équipe nationale russe. Shamalov est devenu professionnel en octobre 2016 et est entraîné par Eduard Kravtsov du Wild Card Gym, à Los Angeles, COMME. Dans son dernier combat sur Avril 5, Shamalov est rentré chez lui en Russie et a enregistré un KO au premier tour contre Oleksandr Nesterenko en 43 secondes.
Arias est né à San Francisco de Macoris, République Dominicaine, puis a déménagé à New York en 1996, à quatre ans. Cependant, ce n'est qu'après avoir obtenu son diplôme d'études secondaires qu'Arias a appris à boxer au Morris Park Boxing Gym près de chez lui dans le Bronx. Il a remporté le tournoi des Golden Gloves de New York en 2014 puis est devenu pro en octobre. Arias est récemment revenu d'une interruption de 13 mois avec une décision unanime en quatre tours contre Jamal Woods à Lawrenceville, Géorgie, sur Avril 29.
Poids croiseur cubain Luis Garcia (14-0, 11 KOs), basé à Peekskill, New York, verra l'action dans un combat en six rounds. Prodige amateur russe Radjab Butaev (5-0, 4 KOs), co-promu par DiBella Entertainment et Fight Promotions Inc. et dirigé par Vadim Kornilov, fera sa deuxième apparition à Foxwoods dans un concours en huit rounds. Sur Novembre 19, Butaev a remporté une victoire par jeu blanc en huit rounds contre l'expérimenté Hongrois Gabor Gorbics pour remporter le titre NABF des poids moyens juniors. Dans son dernier combat, sur Avril 5, Butaev est retourné en Russie pour arrêter Baxrom Payazov en un tour. Butaev, 22 ans, né à Salsk, Russie, et vit maintenant à Los Angeles, était un amateur très accompli, avoir compilé un incroyable 304-12 record, avec 164 KO. Il a également participé aux World Series of Boxing, terminer à 9-1.

Mashantucket, Conn. (Juillet 23, 2016) – With a potential title shot on the line, Adam Lopez and Roman Reynoso fought to a 10-round draw in the main event of the 15-year anniversary telecast of ShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération Vendredi sur Showtime® from Foxwoods Resort Casino.

 

In attendance ringside before the fight, newly crowned IBF Junior Featherweight World Champion Jonathan Guzman (22-0, 22 KOs) announced that he’d like fight the winner of Lopez-Reynoso, raising the stakes for this matchup of 122-pound prospects. While the fight was close and entertaining, analyste Steve Farhood, who has called all 219ShoBox telecasts, didn’t believe either fighter did enough to earn an immediate title shot against Guzman.

 

The fight looked like a toss-up heading into the 10e – with Lopez leading by just one connect after nine rounds – and the Ronnie Shields pupil came up with a huge final round rally. The undefeated prospect hurt Reynoso (18-1-2, 7 KOs) in the final seconds with a flurry of shots, forcing the Argentine spit out his mouthpiece to buy himself nearly 30 seconds of rest. Seemingly out on his feet, Reynoso somehow survived the onslaught without falling to the canvas before the final bell. Lopez (15-0-1, 7 KOs) out-landed Reynoso 34-21 ensemble et 34-20 in power shots in the final round, but it wasn’t enough to earn him the victory.

 

Judge Don Ackerman saw Lopez a 96-94 gagnant, while Bill Morande had it 97-93 Reynoso, and Peter Hary cast the deciding ballot at 95-95. All three judges scored the last round 10-9 pour Lopez. Had Reynoso fell to the canvas in the final seconds, la 10-8 round would have given Lopez the win.

“He threw the punch at the right time and caught me,” Jackson said. “I was OK, but the referee stopped the fight. I felt up until that point, I was boxing well and winning every round.”

 

Rolando Chinea won a close, eight-round split decision victory over O’Shaquie Foster (10-2, 7 KOs) in a matchup of lightweights, marqué 79-73 (Chinea), 77-75 (Favoriser) et 78-74 (Chinea).

 

Chinea (13-1-1, 6 KOs) was the aggressor, dictating the tempo of the fight from the outset. And while most rounds were extremely close – closer than the relatively wide scorecards – Chinea’s activity was the difference. “My team is confident I’m still a high-level fighter. We don’t just want opponents. We want guys that will test us.

“The change in opponents doesn’t affect us. We’re just trying to perfect ‘The Chef.’ We want to get in there and do what it takes to win.

“There’s definitely pressure. We know if I lose demain it will set me back even more. But we’re not thinking about that. We’re coming to win. This is an opportunity to erase my loss.

“Odom comes to fight. That’s what makes this an exciting fight. We’re both coming to fight.”

O’SHAQUIE FOSTER:
“Chinea is a one-punch puncher. He’s suitable to my style. We like the pressure he brings. We can break him down, break his will.

“I’m supposed to be here. The loss in my first fight on ShoBox was a fluke. I showed in my last ShoBox fight that I belong here.

“There’s pressure fighting on TV, but I feel comfortable. People are going to know me after this. They’ll know that I’m ready to be a contender in the 154-pound division.”

IAN GREEN:
“I’ve been in the gym since April. I was supposed to fight on Juillet 30, but this was a better opportunity and I jumped on it.

“We have Kendall Holt in our corner, and we hope to be the next fighter from Paterson to win a title.

“Gray is an aggressive guy, but my range and height is an advantage. I don’t think he’s faced anyone like me. He’s been touched a few times.

“Once you see me demain, you’ll see the real Ian Green.”

Lopez, Ellis and Foster fought on GH3’s Février. 19 ShoBox at Atlantic City. Lopez and Foster triumphed; Ellis boxed a draw.

The steadily improving Lopez, now trained by Houston-based Ronnie Shields, will be making his fourth ShoBox start since March 2015. In his first three, he defeated previously unbeaten prospects (combined record: 44-0-2) on each occasion.

“This is going to be another coming out party for me,’’ the 5-foot-11, 25-year-old Ellis said. “The last fight was a draw. I had some problems with my hand, but I’m back and this is a step for me. Hopefully he comes to fight. I hope he brings it 100 percent because I am bringing 200 pour cent.

O'Shaquie (pronounced “oh-SHACK-ee”) Foster is making his third appearance on ShoBox. Khiary Gray-Pitts vs. Ismael Garcia: Eight-round super welterweight bout

Gray-Pitts, 23, will be boxing on ShoBox pour la première fois,. Ambidextrous with quick hands and feet, Gray-Pitts turned pro in June 2014. He fought three times that year, eight times in 2015 (8-0, 8 KOs, seven in the first, one in the second) and this will be his third fight in 2016.
