CINCINNATI (Februarie. 19, 2017) – Adrien Broner și Adrian Granados battled in a close, back-and-forth main event Saturday on SHOWTIME, with the four-division world champion Broner eking out a split decision victory from Cintas Center at Xavier University in his hometown of Cincinnati.

Avanesyan and Peterson traded body punches and uppercuts, but it was Peterson who was more fluid and effective in the second half of the fight. Both fighters connected on 40 percent of their total punches, but the real difference was that Peterson connected on 39 percent of his power shots compared to 29 percent for Avanesyan.

“I was expecting to pick up where I left off,” Peterson said of his 16-month layoff. “That may seem like a long time, but if you’re in the gym it’s not a long time. I took some steps forward la noapte. We’re looking to get back in camp and keep moving.

“I expected to put pressure on him the way he did. I didn’t think he would fight back as hard as he did. He showed he’s a champion and shows he’s at this level. I want to fight anyone in the welterweight division now.”

Avanesyan admitted it was a close fight but thought he did enough to get the decision.

“I thought that I was landing my punches more cleanly while his punches were being blocked,” Avanesyan said. “Lamont is very good but I thought the judges were impressed with his movement, but I had the power.”

Browne floored Williams again in the fourth with a counter right hook, Williams beat the count but consistently ate shots as he struggled to gauge the distance. The third and final knockdown of the fight happened courtesy of a right hook in the opening minute of the sixth. Williams remained on the canvas complaining of an injured jaw, and failed to beat the 10 second count.

“He didn’t’ look like he went down, so I made sure he went down,” Browne said of the incident in the second round. “He was trying to stand up in the squat position so I pushed him down a bit more. He was in a squat – I didn’t see his gloves. I’m sorry. I wasn’t being dirty.”

The Staten Island native then called out WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion Adonis Stevenson: “Adonis, just give me my chance. Let’s go. I want that strap.”

Valcarcel has a record of 14-8-4 cu cinci knockout. The 34 year-old native of Miami, Florida has wins over Jovanny Soto (15-2-1), Rodolfo Garay (14-2-1) & Leivi Brea (16-4-3).
The 12 year veteran also has fought former world champion Eric Morel and future world champion Jessie Magdaleno.

Valcarcel is coming off a 6th round stoppage defeat to undefeated Erick DeLeon on June 25th în Dallas, Texas.

“I know he is a 2004 Olimpic. He is a veteran and a crafty fighter. He has a surviving style in the sense he is defensive and crafty. He is not a knockout puncher but you have to respect anyone who puts on those gloves,” said Lopez of his opponent.

Lopez is ready to show his skills in front of the knowledgeable Philadelphia fight crowd.

“I always know that Philly is a great fight town. I actually want to see the park here “The Fresh Prince” was bullied at,” Lopez said laughingly.
