Brock predicted that fans would see a completely different fighter, after being trained for this fight by future Hall of Famer and 10-time world champion Roy Jones, Jr. Brock threw effective punches in bunches, aggressively fought inside against the taller Blanco, and he outworked the Dominican who suffered a cut over his left eye midway through the fight and had his right eye swell a few rounds later.

“I knew he was a gritty guy who came from Puerto Rico to fight me in Las Vegas,” explained Brock, who added the NABA USA title to his growing collection that already had included the WBC US lightweight strap. “I was having fun, enjoying myself. I had to pick up stuff working with Roy and some rubbed off on me. With Roy’s help, my confidence was built up and I learned techniques, especially with my hand-and-feet coordination. I found what I learned was more effective.”
Jones was calm in Brock’s corner throughout the fight. “I’m always calm in the corner to get the best out of the fighter,” Jones noted. “To do that I need to remain calm.”
Mexican upset specialist Norberto “Demonio” Gonzalez (22-3-8, 13 KO) did his thing in the co-feature, taking an eight-round split decision (76-75, 76-75, 74-77) from Puerto Rican junior middleweight Daniel “El Duro” Růženec (11-2, 10 KO).

Gonzalez overcame a second-round knockdown. “I didn’t come here to lose,” Gonzalez commented. “I knew we had to work hard to get a decision.”

In a spirited junior featherweight fight from start to finish, Juan “Ciclon Junior” Sanchez (2-0, 1 KO) won a hard fought four-round unanimous decision over a game Javier “Zhasnutý” Cepeda (0-3).

“What a night we had downtown,” řekl Derek Stevens, Owner and CEO of the D Las Vegas and DLVEC. “I want to thank the Nevada Athletic Commission for allowing us to do these fights outdoors. I want to shout out to Chuy and Brock,,,..what fighters! Let’s keep this going downtown.”
Brock, fighting out of New Orleans, learned to box in Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he served nearly 15 léta, sentenced as an adult at 15 for armed robbery. The determined lightweight controlled the pace and consistently beat hometown favorite Gutierrez to the punch all night. Gutierrez, a tough Mexican who lives in Las Vegas, showed the heart of a champion, albeit in a losing effort to a fresher Brock.

“I think I put on a great performance,” Brock commented after the fight. “I came out to give my best effort. We trained to fight inside to fight Chuy, not box, to make him uncomfortable in a fight he’s not used to. I won this fight on the inside. No backing up for 10 tvrdé kola. We prepared that way because we knew Chuy was going to come in throwing shots. But he’d never fought anybody of my caliber. I was looking to finish him but I didn’t want to get careless.”
In a battle of unbeaten junior middleweight, Mexican invader Rolando “Rola” Garza (9-0, 6 KO) a U.S.. Marine Corps veteran Erasmo “The Reckoning” Garcia (5-1-1, 3 KO) put on a show in the televised co-feature. All they really needed was a phone booth as the two warriors pounded each other from the opening bell, although Garza got the much better of the action for the first four rounds, buzzing Garcia at the end of the fourth. The game Garcia came back in the fifth, despite suffering a lot of damage from a relentless attack by Garza, who simply outclassed his overmatched opponent with his technical boxing skills. Garza, who was deducted a point for throwing a low blow in the fifth round, won a unanimous 6-round decision in a firefight.

Nichols won his third fight in the last three months, “I can go next week,” Nichols said after the fight. “He was tall fighter who was undefeated. He didn’t come here to lose. Brock (11-3-1, 4 KO) will defend his USNBC title against former USNBC lightweight champ Gutierrez (14-0-1, 4 KO), who never lost his belt in the ring, which has set the stage for this Las Vegas showdown to determine who the USNBC belt truly belongs to. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact both fighters train in Las Vegas and have growing fan-bases.
The 35-year-old Brock, who fights out of Kenner, Louisiana, learned to box in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, while serving his 14 ½-year sentence there for armed robbery. In prison, he won 39 na 40 bojuje s 17 průchodky, eventually finishing his amateur career with an outstanding 54-3 záznam.

Bitten by the boxing bug, Gutierrez turned pro in in 2010 and he’s rapidly developed into a fan-friendly fighter, largely due to his aggressive, entertaining style. V 2014, Gutierrez won an 8-round majority decision over Rashad Ganaway(14-4-1) for the vacant USNBC lightweight crown.

I think I may have broken my ankle in the fourth round but I kept going. I wanted to finish him, get the knockout, but he’s a very tough fighter. He has heart and showed why he has all of those accolades.”
Four weeks ago, Hernandez was preparing to fight as a cruiserweight. He lost 40 pounds to make weight for this middleweight fight in what turned out to be one of the biggest upsets of the year.

Southpaw super welterweights John “Phenom” Vera (14-0, 9 KO), z Fort Worth, and Phoenix’ Joey “Boxer” Ruelas (10-2-1, 4 KO) went toe-to-toe from the opening bell and they never let up in the co-feature. Vera exploded in the round of this firestorm, battering the game Ruelas around, until referee Jay Nady halted the action in the sixth round. Vera remained undefeated and retained his NABA-USA title.
“I knew eventually he’d put his hands down and I’d catch him,” Vera explained. “I thank him for the opportunity to fight. He’s helluva fighter, I give him that, but I know I’m a warrior. I took some shots but gave ’em, také. I broke him down and just kept throwing those lefts.”

Nady stopped the fight without counting when a badly hurt Vargas (4-1, 3 KO) hit the deck hard.
“I happy that I put on a good performance for my fans,” Haney commented after the fight. “My team put together the strategy to use my jab and breakdown his body. I picked up my combinations did what I was told to do.”

In a battle of Texas junior welterweights, Tony Lopez (11-1, 4 KO) dropped previously unbeaten Jerryho “Tvrdé údery” Cochran (11-1-1, 4 KO) twice with lefts in the opening round and finished him off in the second, knocking him out cold with a punishing right.
“Two mores seconds and I would have finished him off in the first,” Lopez remarked. “My corner told me that, after the lefts, come back with a right. They gave me the game plan and I executed.”

Haney (na obrázku níže) je 7násobným národním amatérským šampionem, který získal zlatou medaili 2015 Mistr světa mládeže, ale nemohl to zkusit 2016 U.S.. Olympijský boxerský tým kvůli svému věku. Když byla pokrývka hlavy vyřazena z olympijské soutěže v boxu, minimální věk pro U.S. boxer soutěžit na olympijských hrách byl změněn na 19, tak se Haney rozhodl stát se profesionálem ve věku let 17 než čekat další čtyři roky.
