BROOKLYN (Listopad. 5, 2017) – Neporažený mistr světa v těžké váze Deontay Wilder udržel svůj titul WBC ve své šesté obraně s dominantním knockoutem v prvním kole povinného vyzyvatele Zlatý pohár v hlavní události Showtime CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING Sobota noc na SHOWTIME z Barclays Center, domov Brooklyn boxerské®.
Wilder (39-0, 38 KO) zaklepal Stiverne (25-3-1, 21 KO) třikrát k zemi, než rozhodčí Arthur Mercante zápas zastavil 2:59 v úvodním kole. Bývalý mistr světa welterové váhy Shawn Porter (28-2-1, 17 KO) poražený Adrian Granados (18-6-2, 11 KO) via jednomyslným rozhodnutím (skóroval 117-111 všemi třemi rozhodčími) ve vzrušujícím boji mezi dvěma akčními konkurenty, kteří sloužili jako společný podnik SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. “Sem tam mi dělal trochu potíže,” Said Porter. “V šestém kole jsem si poranil levou ruku, ale používal jsem to dál. Musel jsem použít svůj úder. Zabralo mi to a v 10. kole už jsem to prostě nemohl hodit.
“Strategií bylo pokračovat v práci. Věděl jsem, že na mě chodí pravidelně. Byl jsem připravený a kopal jsem hluboko, abych vyhrál.”
Granados, z Cicera, Ill., statečně bojoval a odolal četným palbám od mocného Portera a kontroval několika vlastními rychlými kombinacemi. Granados, kdo jen přistál 24 procent své celkové razníků, nesouhlasil se soudci’ výsledková karta.
“Myslel jsem si, že boj řídím a držím s ním po celou dobu krok,” Granados to řekl Jimu Grayovi. “Jen se snažil používat své normální triky. Několikrát jsem ho houpal a nikdy mě neměl v žádných problémech.

“Rozhodl jsem se, že nebudu dávat najevo žádnou bolest nebo strach z jeho úderů. Byl jsem odhodlaný bojovat celou noc.”

“I thought the first Stiverne fight should have been stopped. He had knots all over his faced and was concussed. I’m not trying to leave any doubt this time around.

“Miluju Las Vegas, ale vždy jsem velmi nadšený, že dostanu příležitost bojovat v Barclays Center. Je to opravdu zábavná aréna. Energie tam není žádná. Naprosto miluji, když můžu bavit davy tam venku v Brooklynu.

“Shawn bojoval 165 v amatéry, mnohem větší než já a dobře si ho pamatuji, byl také fotbalista, takže byl mnohem těžší. Od té doby, co se stal profesionálem, jsem trávil více času sledováním jeho zápasů a jeho studiem, zvláště v posledních několika týdnech s vědomím, že spolu bojujeme 147.
“Je pro mě lepší hned od začátku vědět, jaká je váha 147, předchozí tábor pro Bronera, ve kterém jsme začínali 142 a pak se musel přestěhovat 147 velmi pozdě v táboře. “Jsem velmi nadšený, že budu bojovat v Barclays Center a vím, že toto je spíše neutrální stránka. Vím, že Shawn je favorit, ale z boje v Brooklynu mám dobrý pocit. Dvakrát jsem byl v Barclays Center sledovat zápasy a jsem nadšený, že tam budu bojovatpříští sobotu noc.

Schaub asked Wilder as the only American heavyweight champion, why he hasn’t received the notoriety yet that he deserves in the U.S. “I don’t get it either,” Wilder said. “It’s mind boggling to see Americans support others before they support their own.”

BROOKLYN (Říjen. 14, 2017) – Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder and Welterweight World Champions Keith Thurman and Errol Spence Jr. met with the media on Saturday at Barclays Center to discuss their upcoming bouts and expected 2018 campaigns.
Wilder will defend his WBC belt on Listopad. 4 against mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne live on SHOWTIME from Barclays Center in a Premier Boxing Champions event. Thurman announced he expects to return in early 2018 in his first bout since unifying the division and subsequent surgery.
In news on Saturday, IBF Welterweight Champion Spence announced that he will make the first defense of his belt against former world champion Lamont Peterson in January 2018 on SHOWTIME on a date and site to be determined.

“What other heavyweight is doing what I do? What other heavyweight has power like me? I don’t have to put you out in punches in bunches. I don’t have to do that. One punch. Goodnight.
“I’m happy that I’ve had time to calm down and think about things. I’m happy that I’m fighting Stiverne because he’s my mandatory. I can finally get him out the way so I’ll be a free man.

“I’m in the bounce-back stage. It won’t be long before I get back into the ring and hopefully my arm will be better than ever. We’re estimating I’ll be ready for a fight the first quarter of next year.
“I look forward to continuing my legacy and dominating the welterweight division.

“Everybody knows there’s no Floyd Mayweather. There’s no Manny Pacquiao. Everybody thinks they know who the real champion is. But real talk is that the king of the welterweight division will manifest within one to two years.
“[Terence] Crawford has whacked up a lot of people, but he hasn’t whacked up a welterweight yet. He still needs to make himself relevant in this division. He’s a 140 nesporný mistr. “Since I was 5-0, I’ve said I’d fight Keith Thurman or anybody in the top 5. He’s got to go through rehab, but I’m ready when he is. I’m always ready to fight the best.”
