LOS ANGELES (Maig 30, 2018) – El primer Leo Santa Cruz vs. Enfrontament Abner Mares, un candidat per “Baralla de l'Any” a 2015, va ser una dura lluita entre la ciutat de Los Angeles per la supremacia a la divisió de pes ploma guanyada per Santa Cruz mitjançant una decisió majoritària de 12 rondes al STAPLES Center l'agost. 29.

Una forta amargor portada de molts anys abans va estar en plena vigència durant l'acumulació prèvia a la lluita entre els antics socis de sparring i els antics campions del món Mando Ramos i Raul Rojas.. Aquests lluitadors de la zona del port van jugar obertament a jocs mentals entre ells i van llançar insults personals odiosos d'anada i tornada per obtenir un avantatge psicològic.. En aquesta cruïlla crucial lluita per tots dos, Ramos, de Long Beach, es va fer creure que les Rojas de San Pedro no estava en forma. Ramos va procedir a prendre-s'ho amb calma i va costar durant el camp d'entrenament. Quan es va córrer la veu que Rojas estava en plena forma, a Ramos se li va ocórrer que l'havien tingut. Encara, Ramos va reunir prou salva per noquejar a Rojas en sis rondes el desembre 10, 1970 a l'Auditori Olímpic.

 

 

 

Ramos va ajudar a escriure un altre capítol de la història de la boxa a la zona com l'esperat partit de rancor entre dues icones populars chicanes., Ramos i Ruben Navarro, també va enfrontar els barris de Harbour vs. Maravilla l'un contra l'altre. En un dels partits de somni més esperats de la història de la boxa de Los Angeles, “Escolar” Bobby Chacon, de Sylmar, va noquejar en Danny “Little Xarxa” López, de l'Alhambra, a la novena ronda per guanyar el mític “Campionat de pes ploma de la ciutat.” Chacon va estar tota la nit a la seva timonera, balancejant López repetidament amb la mà dreta durant tota la lluita. Aquest enfrontament d'estrelles locals en ascens a la divisió de pes ploma, promogut per Aileen Eaton i el Olympic Boxing Club, va passar davant d'una multitud exhaurida 16,027 al Los Angeles Sports Arena el maig 24, 1974. Va ser la primera vegada a la història de la boxa que dos graduats universitaris lluitaven pel títol mundial quan el campió de pes welter del CMB Carlos Palomino., de Westminster, va defensar amb èxit el seu títol contra Armando Muniz, de Montebello, per nocaut tècnic de la 15a ronda a l'Auditori Olímpic el gener 21, 1977. Molts escriptors locals de boxa van anomenar aquesta derrota, guerra d'arrossegament, la “Baralla de l'Any”, i a la represa celebrada al maig 27, 1978 al mateix lloc, Palomino va tornar a aturar Muniz, aquesta vegada per decisió unànime de 15 rondes.

 

 

 

Santa Cruz i Mares van créixer junts a la mateixa escena de boxa del sud de Califòrnia. Tots dos van aparèixer en moltes de les mateixes cartes de boxa, i Santa Cruz fins i tot va agafar un cinturó de pes gallo de la FIB deixat lliure per Mares. DALLAS (Maig 30, 2018) – El invicte campió mundial de pes welter Errol Spence Jr. hosted a media workout at his gym in Dallas Tuesday as he prepares for his homecoming title defense at Dallas Cowboys Headquarters against undefeated challenger Carlos Ocampo Dissabte, Juny 16 live on SHOWTIME from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

 

 

 

The IBF titleholder spoked to media at the R&R Boxing Club along with trainer Derrick James, as the two prepare for Spence’s second title defense after winning the title from then unbeaten champion Kell Brook last May.

“It feels good to be fighting back at home in Dallas. This is where I started and where my core fan base is. It’s great to fight in front of my people and even better that I can do it as a world champion now.

 

 

 

“I wanted to make my first title defense in Dallas, but everything happens for a reason and now I have this great opportunity to fight at the Dallas Cowboys’ instal·lació. It’s an incredible venue that has everything you would want. It’s going to be a great atmosphere on June 16.

“I’m a versatile fighter who is able to switch it up. I can box from the outside but also go on the inside. These are things that we’re always working on in the gym. Our opponent may bring something different than we expected into the ring, so we work on having a plan for everything.

 

 

 

“It’s great to have another world champion like Jermell Charlo in camp with me. Iron sharpens iron and we just work hard every day so that we can push each other to the next level. All of that helps me become victorious.

 

 

 

“I wouldn’t say I have one skill that sticks out the most in my arsenal. I’m a balanced boxer who can do everything. I can jab, throw a combo and show strong defense. I balance all of the attributes you need in the ring and that’s what makes me a great boxer.

 

 

 

“I’ve been putting this division on notice for a while. Juny 16 is another day that we’re going to give another one-sided performance and dominate. I’ve had the welterweight division on notice since my first fight. They know I’m here.

 

 

 

“Whoever wins the fight between Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter for the WBC title will have to fight me. Estic preparat per unificar. I’m ready to take the belt from either one of those guys.”

“There can definitely be a lot of distractions at home, but Errol is determined and I know he has the mentality that will allow him to put on his best performance. We’ve been preparing for anything Ocampo could possibly bring to the ring.

 

 

 

 

“I’m excited that my two daughters will be able to come to the fight. This night is all about our community and giving everyone here something to cheer about. The city has indicated that they’re really coming out to support Errol and he’s going to reward them.

Com ha anat el camp d'entrenament fins ara?

 

 

 

“My camp has gone well. We train three times a day and work hard to be in the best shape possible on June 22 in Detroit.”

 

Can you tell us about your current training location?

 

 

 

“We are in Austria, staying at a place in the mountains that is about 5000-feet elevation. It’s amazing here. The nature and the mountains inspire me and give me power. It’s very comfortable to do my roadwork and go to the boxing gym because everything is situated in a comfortable way.”

 

What is a typical day like at training camp?

 

 

 

“We’ve been in Austria for the last 10 dia. En 7:30 sóc, we start the first interval runs. En 9 sóc, I have breakfast and at 11 sóc, we go up to the mountains to our gym (which is at 6500 feet high) to do my strength and conditioning work. Després, in the afternoon, we start our boxing work. The nature and beautiful surroundings give me peace of mind.”

 

How and why is your training camp built into different stages?

 

 

 

“The mountains are perfect to prepare for the fight. You are away from your hometown stay more focused on training. The air is thin and this high level of elevation gives your body a higher level of conditioning. Al juny 10, we will move on to our next stage of training, which will take place in the United States. That will be to help acclimate me to the new time and climate for fight night on June 22, which is when I will put all of this hard work together and have it pay off in a big way.”

 

Who is your head trainer?

 

 

 

“My coach is Dimitrie Kirnos. I started my professional career with him. He himself was Soviet Union Boxing Champion and trained many top champions. He is old school and pushes my mind and body to the limit. He is a big part of my team we have a great bond. I have much respect and admiration for him.”

 

Have you done anything different preparing for this fight?

 

 

 

“I spar with lots of shorter fighters, like Tori Nelson. I guarantee that it will be much more explosive and impressive than Claressa Shields was against her.”

 

American fans love knockouts. Can they expect a Christina Hammer KO on June 22?

 

 

 

“That’s why I train hard and give everything in the gym. I want to be amazing that night and a knockout would be a perfect ending.”

 

 

What is your prediction for Juny 22?

With the draw, Stevenson retains the WBC belt in what was Toronto’s most significant world title fight in more than 30 any. In a bout filled with momentum swings, it was Jack (21-1-4, 13 KOs) who was the busier and more accurate fighter. While Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 KOs) outpointed Jack in the early rounds, the challenger turned it on in round number seven and dominated the champion in the second half of the fight. Russell Jr.’s game plan to dictate the pace and establish the jab was clear, throwing a career-high 587 jabs throughout the 12-round battle. While the number of punches landed were close (199-192 in favor of Russell Jr.), Russell Jr.’s output trumped Diaz Jr.’s accuracy as the champion’s career-high 992 punches thrown were the most ever for him in a CompuBox tracked fight. Díaz Jr. was committed to attacking the body of Russell Jr., but he was unable to break the champion down, who injured his right hand in the third round.

If he wants to come in and box, we are equally as comfortable boxing long ranged as we are making the fight rugged. In order to be great at anything, you have to have a level of versatility. That’s something I bring to the table that a lot of fighters don’t bring.
