Unified Welterweight Champion Errol Spence, Jr. Battles Two-Division Champion Danny Garcia in FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View Showdown To Highlight Exciting Slate of Shows 

LOS ANGELES (Srpen 8, 2020) – FOX Sports and Premier Boxing Champions announced today an exciting slate of boxing shows that will include action in some of the sports’ hottest divisions and is highlighted by the highly anticipated showdown between unified welterweight champion Errol “Pravda” Spence, Jr. a dva-divize mistr Danny “Rychlý” Garcia headlining the first in a series of FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-Views on Saturday, Listopad 21.

The FOX PBC Fight Night return schedule kicked off tonight with Jamal “Shango” James taking on Thomas Dulorme for the WBA Interim Welterweight title from AEG’s Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The schedule includes six events that will be broadcast on FOX, one FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View and 11 shows on FS1, running from August 8 through the end of the year. Initially the live events will be held without fans in attendance at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles.

James of Minneapolis has battled his way through a string of tough opponents to get to the threshold of a welterweight championship and will have to defeat Dulorme of Puerto Rico to take that last big step. In just his third pro fight, David Morrell (2-0, 2 KO), who had an outstanding amateur career in the Cuban system, will meet Lennox Allen (22-0-1, 14 KO) of Brooklyn for the Interim WBA Super Middleweight championship in the co-feature. Exciting super lightweight prospect Omar Juarez (7-0, 4 KO) clashes with Oakland’s Willie Shaw (12-1, 8 KO).

Two-time welterweight champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter (30-3-1, 17 KO) will take on Germany’s Sebastian Formella (22-0, 10 KO) in a WBC/IBF eliminator headlining a broadcast that begins at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The event is promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing. The Romero vs. Maríñez bout is co-promoted by Mayweather Promotions.

The 23-year-old Benavídez (22-0, 19 KO) defends his belt after defeating two-time super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell in September, stopping him in nine rounds. Benavidez is trained by his father José Sr., alongside his brother and former title challenger, José Jr. V 2017, he became the youngest super middleweight champion in boxing history by defeating Ronald Gavril on SHOWTIME at just 20 let. Representing his native Phoenix, Ariz. Benavídez went from a 15-year-old prodigy sparring with Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin, to world title contender with a 10-fight knockout streak from 2015 přes 2017, including a highlight-reel knockout of Rogelio Medina with a seven-punch combination that earned him his first championship fight.

“It’s been almost a year since the last time I fought, so I’m very eager to get back in the ring and give the fans a great fight,” said Benavídez. “Training camp has been amazing. He scored a decision victory this January over Anthony Sims Jr. to put himself in position to again challenge the best in the division.

“I’m ready for anything that happens in the ring on August 15,” said Angulo. “This is going to be a great fight for the fans because of the style I bring to the ring. Benavidez is a strong champion, but my style will be too much for him and I will have my hand raised on fight night.”

Boj z Las Vegas, Nev., Romero(11-0, 10 KO) added three knockout victories to his tally in 2019 before his 2020 debut saw him stop previously unbeaten Arturs Ahmetovs in February. A fast-rising prospect in the Mayweather Promotions stable, the 24-year-old is ranked No. 10 by the WBA and will look to extend his six-fight knockout streak on August 15.

“Congratulations to Leo, he did it,” said the Philadelphia native. “But listen, I’m ready for him. I’ve been ready. Just be ready to face me when it’s time. That’s all I’ve got to say.”

BROOKLYN (Březen 7, 2020) – Robert Helenius (30-3, 19 KO)scored an upset victory over previously unbeaten Adam Kownacki (20-1, 15 KO) by stopping him in the fourth round of a WBA Heavyweight Title Eliminator headlining FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes Saturday night from Barclays Center, domov Brooklyn BOXING ™.

“I want to thank everyone who gave me this opportunity,” said Helenius. “Kownacki is a tough fighter. I worked hard in training camp and it paid off.”

Brooklyn’s Kownacki was fighting for the 10th time at Barclays Center in front of his hometown crowd, but was unable to keep the taller Helenius off of him after being hurt early in the fourth. A clean Helenius right hook hurt Kownacki, before a left hook put Kownacki down.

“I knew that I hit him hard and I knew I just had to continue,” said Helenius. “I knew he was still hurt after that punch.

“Kownacki just kept coming and coming. He’s a good fighter I have to give it to him. My strength is to punch back when people come at me. It was a good fight and a tremendous opportunity for me to be here.”

“Ronnie told me to attack the body behind the jab,” said Ajagba. “It was very effective and it started to slow him down. When he got close to me, I knew to throw more and punish him.

“Cojanu has a lot of experience. When I threw my jab, he used his right hand to block my vision, so I couldn’t throw as many combinations as I wanted. It was a good challenge.”

While Cojanu was able to make it through the round, Ajagba continued to press forward in round nine, punishing Cojanu with power shots. “Mám příležitost učinit velký boj v sobotu a to je to, co jsem trénoval. Jsem připraven a měl jsem velký výcvikový tábor. Nemohu se dočkat, až se do ringu.

“Tento boj jsme přišli o dva týdny dříve na území USA. Mé tělo zvykli na rozdílu. Více, sparing v Alabamě v tělocvičně Deontay Wildera opravdu pomohlo mě připraveni.

“Děláme všechno správně a školení bylo skvělé. My jsme zápasili tolik nábojů, Cítím se velmi ostrý a připravený se dostat do ringu proti Kownacki.

“Mám hodně fanoušků v Evropě, a že podpora je důvod, proč jsem si dokonce to a soutěžit na této úrovni. Vše bylo tak dokonalé, přichází do tréninkového kempu. Cítím jistější, než mám na mnoho let.

“Trénoval jsem po celá léta se zlomenou rukou a měl zranění v minulosti. Ale v posledních dvou letech jsem byla zdravá a se stejným trenérem a já se cítím fyzicky tak dobré, jak jsem nikdy neměl.”

EFE AJAGBA

“Jsem nadšený, že je na tuto velkou show plnou těžkých vah. Těším se na sobotu v noci. Děkuji soupeře pro přijetí této výzvy. Je to dobrý bojovník a těšíme se, aby vám velký boj.
