GRIMARD AND VASTA SET TO GO PRO AT NEF 46

SA HINANALING PAGPAGAWAS: Portland, Maine (Nobyembre 30, 2021) - New England away (Kaha) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, "NEF 46: Decade of Dominance,” on Saturday, Pebrero 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine. The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. The leading regional promotion launched on February 11, 2012. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a professional featherweight bout to the fight card. Former NEF Amateur Featherweight ChampionNathaniel Grimard (0-0) is scheduled to take onAnthony Vasta (0-0) sa usa ka away gibug-aton sa 145-libra.

Nathaniel Grimard made his NEF MMA debut in September 2019 at β€œNEF 40: School of Hard Knocks.” That night, Grimard submitted Justin Kangas (0-3) via armbar in the first round. During the pandemic lockdown, Grimard competed twice in Florida and improved his record to 3-0. His unbeaten record positioned Grimard to challenge for the then vacant NEF Featherweight Championship. Sa Agosto, Grimard stopped Brandon Maillet-Fevens (3-2) in the second round at β€œNEF 44: Back in Black” to become the 145-pound titleholder. Grimard got right back in the cage at β€œNEF 45: Uprising” to defend his strap against Billy Wilson (7-1) from the famed Jackson Wink MMA camp in New Mexico. Grimard lost a laborious five-round decision that made Wilson the new champion. Karon, Grimard hits the reset switch as he plans to turn professional against NEF newcomer, Anthony Vasta. Grimard represents Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).

β€œI can’t imagine a better way to start my pro career than on NEF’s 10th anniversary card,” Grimard stated. β€œI have big goals for myself and I’m ready to take on anybody in my way. I have nothing but respect for Vasta and his martial arts skills, but I have never been more focused.”

Anthony Vasta will also be making his professional debut at NEF 46. Vasta and Grimard made their respective MMA amateur debuts within a couple of months of each other. Vasta and Grimard share another common tie, as both competed on the same card in Florida during the pandemic. Vasta has a 1-1 amateur record and trains at Defensive Edge Martial Arts Academy in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

β€œBeing able to make my professional debut against another rising New England fighter that I respect is exciting,” Vasta stated. β€œIt’s time to take the next step in my career, put my skills to the test, and seize the opportunity. My style is really unorthodox and hard to prepare for. I plan to go out there and put on a dominant performance against another tough prospect of this division.”

"NEF 46: Decade of Dominance” takes place on Saturday, Pebrero 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine. The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. Pultahan sa 6 pm with first fight at 7 pm. Tickets are on sale now atwww.Ticketmaster.com

CHAMP VS FORMER CHAMP SET FOR FLYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT ON FEBRUARY 12TH

SA HINANALING PAGPAGAWAS: Portland, Maine (Nobyembre 26, 2021) - New England away (Kaha) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, "NEF 46: Decade of Dominance,” on Saturday, Pebrero 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine. The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. The leading regional promotion launched on February 11, 2012. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur championship bout to the fight card. NEF Flyweight ChampionTyler Smythe (3-1) is scheduled to defend his title against former NEF Flyweight ChampionRyan "Gordo" Burgess (3-2) sa usa ka away gibug-aton sa 125 libra.

Tyler Smythe notched his third MMA win and captured coveted NEF gold in the process when he recently stopped previously undefeated flyweight prospect Caleb β€œDr. Feelgood” Austin (5-1) in a β€œFight of the Night” performance at β€œNEF 45: Uprising.” Down on the scorecards but not discouraged, Smythe waged a come-from-behind victory to earn the technical knockout (KINSA) stoppage over Austin in the final second of the fourth round of their championship bout. Never one to slow down, Smythe, who is trained by Nate Libby out of Evolution Athletix in Saco, Maine, is anxious to make an immediate turnaround and defend his title against a former NEF Champion.

β€œFrom bell to bell, every round, I’ll be going at this kid like he owes me money,” Smythe stated. β€œI want a quick finish. Ryan doesn’t deserve to be in that cage with me. February 12th, I’ll show why I’m the NEF flyweight champ.”

Ryan Burgess is no stranger to championship challenges. Hailing from Rumford, Maine, Burgess is one of only four Mountain Valley High School mat men to ever win triple state crowns in wrestling. He amassed an amazing 151-23 overall high school record before graduating and turning his attention to mixed martial arts. Burgess quickly made a name for himself in MMA when he won the NEF Flyweight Championship in November 2015 with a split-decision nod over then Champion Dustin Veinott (5-4). When Burgess last competed, he displayed a dangerous Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) game off his back in defeating Nate Boucher (0-1) in a heated hometown rivalry. Burgess, a BJJ purple belt, trains under Jason β€œJB” Bell and fights out of Bell’s Famoso BJJ.

β€œI’m super excited to make my return on NEF’s 10-year anniversary show,” Burgess stated. β€œIt’s been a long time coming for me to return to the cage and I can’t think of a more perfect scenario than coming back and regaining my flyweight title with a finish over Smythe. It’s been three years since I’ve competed, but my coach, Jason Bell, and I have been putting in work behind the scenes. I can’t wait to showcase my skills and put on a show for the fans.

β€œSmythe seems like a tough opponent, and it was no easy feat for him to defeat Caleb Austin for the belt,” Burgess continued. β€œWith that being said, I see many holes in his game that I plan to exploit come February 12th. I hope he’s not expecting the same fighter he’s watching in the three-plus-year-old film he’s researching to better understand me. Mentally and skillfully, I am a far superior fighter compared to my previous bouts and only my training partners actually know the weapons I’ll be bringing into that cage to get the job done. Smythe may rethink his entire pursuit of a professional MMA career when I’m finished with him. The pressure I’m going to bring would melt any of these amateur flyweights in New England and come February they will all be on notice.”

The win capped a tremendous sophomore year in the cage for Richard as the follow-up to his 2018 β€œRookie of the Year” season. The last time Richard fought on the stage of the Collins Center, sa Septyembre 2019, he scored a vicious slam knockout of Erik Tainter (0-2).  The slam has become a signature move for Richard over the course of his young career. He is a product of Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC veteran and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion Devin Powell (10-4).

The Bangor, Maine native will make his first appearance as a member of Young’s MMA atNEF 28,having previously fought under the banner of Team Irish.

Keenan Raymond is coming to my home turf, and I’m going to show him how tough we are up North,” Miingon Dexter. “I’m new to the pro ranks, but I’ve got the work ethic of a seasoned vet. Representing Southern New England will be Providence, Rhode Island’s Keenan Raymond. A longtime competitor on the New England MMA scene, Raymond will look to work off some cage rust as he has not fought since January 2016. He is by no means a one-dimensional fighter. He currently trains at Ricardo Cavalcanti Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mayo Quanchi Judo and Wrestling.

I’m sure Ricky’s a game opponent, but I can promise he’s never faced a force like me,” said Raymond. “I’m healthy and my versatility will finish this fight one way or another.

HEAVYWEIGHTS PREPARE FOR WAR AT NEF 27

Lewiston, Maine (Disyembre 7, 2016) -bag-Ong England away (Kaha) returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Pebrero 11, 2017 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “Kaha 27: RESURGENCE.” Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional contest to the card. RasRasquatch” Hylton (0-0) mohimo sa iyang propesyonal nga debut batok sa Mike “Ang mustache” Hansen (5-4) sa heavyweight division.

Hylton’s now-legendary rise through the ranks of the amateur heavyweight division in NEF is one of the major stories of 2016. At 6’6and towering over the top of the MMA cage, Hylton cuts an imposing figure. The only thing more impressive than Hylton’s size and appearance might be his athletic abilities. A prolific striker, Hylton finished all three of his opponents this year by either knockout or technical knockout.

Rasquatch,” or as some fans call himThe Jamaican Shamrock,” really began to raise eyebrows with a highlight-reel head kick knockout of Matt Glover (1-1) last spring. Unya, sa miaging bulan sa “NEF 26,Hylton pounded an extremely tough Kevin Smith (3-3) to a bloody pulp. It was immediately after that dominant performance that Hylton’s coaches at First Class MMA and Dragon Fire Martial Arts felt the time was right for him to make the jump to the pro ranks.

I am so grateful to be fighting a man of Mike Hansen’s stature in front of my family and friends,” said Hylton. “As the first professional fighter to come out of both Dragon Fire Martial Arts and First Class MMA, and with the instruction of Shihan Andy Campbell, Juan “First Class” Raio and my team, we are preparing for me to go to war because that is what Mike always brings to the cage.

A former Maine state heavyweight wrestling champion out of Mountain Valley High School, Mike Hansen has never shied away from taking a fight with someone bigger than him. Sa pagkatinuod, Hansen, who also competes in the light-heavyweight and middleweight divisions, has gained a reputation as somewhat of agiant killer.

Sa sayo pa niini nga tuig, Hansen submitted a substantially bigger Jesse Baughman (0-2) in the first round atNEF 22.He followed up that impressive performance by nearly knocking out a much larger Brendan Battles (1-1) with a right hand atNEF 23.This fall Hansen gave up nearly half a foot to Matt Andrikut (2-1) and submitted his bigger opponent in the first round. Sa pagkatinuod, Hylton’s size advantage will play little role in the outcome of this fight should Hansen have anything to say about it.

“Ako super excited sa niini nga away,” exclaimed Hansen. “I like being part of these ‘super fights.I know Ras has a great camp behind him and he will come 100% prepared. I’ll expect nothing less from Raio, but I feel my experience and composure in the cage will be my best asset and that’s not something that he can train up on sa 10 weeks. February 11th we will go to war, so expect just that.
