DETAILS FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 22 TO BE ANNOUNCED

ÄNGLARNA - BELLATOR MMA has announced its return to the Hawaiian island of Oahu, where Honolulu’s Neal S. Blaisdell Arena will play home to an extremely stacked duo of events on back-to-back nights Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23.

Friday night’s Bellator 278 will be a special event free for current military, veteraner, and first responders. Matchups and additional details for the event will be announced shortly.

Saturday night’s Bellator 279 will feature the launch of the highly anticipated one-million-dollar BELLATOR Bantamweight World Grand Prix. The headliner will see current bantamweight world champion Sergio Pettis (22-5) take on No. 3-rankad Raufeon Stots (17-1), while the co-main event features a rematch between the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time, Cris Cyborg (25-2, 1 NC) and Australia’s No. 1-rankad Arlene Blencowe (15-8), who will look to claim gold in her third attempt at a world title.

Lördagens Bellator 279: Pettis vs. Stots / Cyborg vs. Blencowe 2 will air live on SHOWTIME at 4:30 p.m. HST lokal tid, 10:30 p.m. OCH / 7:30 p.m. PT. The hard-hitting Midwesterner out of Milwaukee originally captured the crown by outpointing former champion Juan Archuleta. The younger brother of former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will be in for one of the toughest fights of his career when he takes on Raufeon Stots. Stots, who used to train alongside Pettis for several years, has been flawless since making his promotion debut in December 2019. He most recently scored a dominant unanimous decision victory over Magomed Magomedov at Bellator 264.

Featherweight world champion and top-ranked women’s pound-for-pound fighter Cris “Cyborg” has made three straight title defenses including a second-round submission of Arlene Blencowe in 2020, which surprisingly is the lone submission victory of her storied career. The Brazilian native who currently fights out of Las Vegas, Nev. is a “Grand Slam Champion” having won belts in four different organizations. She sports 20 wins by finish with victories over elite competition including Holly Holm, Leslie Smith (två gånger), Gina Carano and aims to further her legacy as the greatest women’s mixed martial artist of all time in the rematch versus Blencowe. Australia’s Blencowe is BELLATOR’s No. 6 pound-for-pound female fighter and the No. 1 rankad fjäder. She has won five of her last six fights and earned her shot at the world title rematch with a unanimous decision over Pam Sorenson at BELLATOR 271 i November.

Currently BELLATOR’s No. 2 rankad bantamvikt, Patchy Mix recently defeated James Gallagher via submission in his last outing at BELLATOR 270 i Dublin. Mix has made a name for himself in the BELLATOR cage by displaying impressive submissions and his lone professional loss came to former champion Juan Archuleta. He now faces Horiguchi, another former world champion who hails from Takasaki, Japan. The American Top Team prodigy Horiguchi became a simultaneous, two-promotion champion in 2019 after he upset then-BELLATOR champion Darrion Caldwell while also holding the RIZIN Championship. After he was forced to relinquish his BELLATOR title due to an injury, Horiguchi nearly got his hands back on BELLATOR’s title but was stopped by current champion Sergio Pettis in December. The No. 5 ranked bantamweight now aims to get back in the winning column and recapture his belt, along with the million-dollar prize that awaits the winner of the BELLATOR Bantamweight World Grand Prix.

Falcao to battle Bonelli March 26 in Orlando, FL

Tampa, FL (Mars 8, 2022) – Yamaguchi Falcao will meet heavy-handed Argentine Damian Bonelli for the vacant WBA NABA Gold super middleweight championship Saturday, Mars 26 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, FL.

The ten round Falcao-Bonelli bout airs live on the Bally Sports Network, Bally Sports app and Display TV.

Representing his native Brazil and currently residing in Florida, Falcao’s an outstanding 20-1-1 med 9 of his wins coming by knockout. På Februari 19, the skilled southpaw destroyed once-beaten Fernando Farias in less than two rounds. EN 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, Falcao has his sights set on facing the world’s best 168 pound fighters if all goes as planned against Bonelli.

Known as “El Pollero," 20 of Bonelli’s 24 victories are via knockout. The Buenos Aires native faced a number of contenders including Maciej Sulecki, Steve Rolls, Magomed Kurbanov, Carlos Gongora, Derrieck Cuevas and Fiodor Czerkaszyn, who were a combined 112-0-1 just då. Miguel Madueño to Fight in WBA Title Elimination Bout Against Jezzrel Corrales on March 12th

ORANGE, SÅSOM (Mars 7, 2022) – Thompson Boxing’s unbeaten lightweight contender, Miguel “El Explosivo” Madueño (27-0, 25 Kos), who is known for his explosive power and exciting fights, now has the chance of a lifetime as he faces former world champion Jezzrel Corrales (25-4, 10 Kos), in WBA lightweight title eliminator. The 12-round bout will take place at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama on March 12, 2022, on a “KO to Drugs” event hosted by the WBA.

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Kanada (Mars 4, 2022) – Like so many fellow brave Ukrainians, Serhii “El Flaco” Bohachuk (20-1, 20 Kos) has returned home in defense of his country fighting alongside his compatriots against the Russian invasion, which has forced his withdrawal from a scheduled March 25th showdown with Canadian super welterweight Mikaël Zewski (35-2, 23 Kos).

QUINCY, Mäss. (Mars 1, 2022) – Granite Chin Promotions returns to the Granite State on March 19th with another professional boxing card, “Slugfest,” at New England Sports Center in Derry, New Hampshire.


“Slugfest” will be the second Granite Chin event promoted three weeks having presented “Showcase” this past Saturday night in Framingham, Massachusetts.

“After an exciting show in Framingham last weekend,” Granite State president Chris Traietti said, “I am excited to get back to Derry, New Hampshire, where we have had a ton of success during the last two years.”


Undefeated lightweight prospect Nicholas “Saint Nick” Molina (7-0, 2 Kos), fighting out of Lowell, Massachusetts, will headline “Slugfest” in an 8-round bout against “Outlaw” Ryan Venable (2-10, 6 Kos).

Paul Kroll and Marquis Taylor Battle to a Spirited Split Draw in Telecast Opener on SHOWTIME®

After he was dropped twice in his last fight against Joseph Adorno in a majority draw in April, Ortiz looked more poised and patient in the early going, picking his punches carefully and hitting and moving while avoiding Albright’s big right hand.

As the difference in speed became apparent, Ortiz began to open up in the second after he scored with a big left that caught Albright clean. From that point on, Ortiz maintained control of the distance and pace, leaping at Albright with lefts and rights or peppering him with jabs.

“I think I showed maturity in this fight,” Ortiz said. “I was cautious in the beginning. I didn’t want to get caught like I did in my last fight. After I took the first couple rounds to feel him out, I saw that I could do whatever I wanted in there and I started to get into a groove and let my punches go.”

Ortiz, of Worcester, Mass., landat 48% (103 av 216) av hans makt slag, jämfört med 41% for Albright (88 av 216), but it was his body punching that produced the biggest numerical disparity. “He was the better man in there tonight,” an emotional Albright said. “It was a great experience and I saw a different look. I know that I have all the talent and ability, and this will not deter me at all from being a world champion.”

Before the bout, Philly’s Kroll spoke of the little respect he had for Taylor’s power, since Taylor only had one knockout on his ledger, but it was Taylor who was the harder and busier puncher in the contest, relying on a check left hook that continually found its mark.

Houston’s Taylor connected on 34% of his power punches compared to 29% for Kroll, outscoring him 98 till 71 and out-landing him 109 till 84 totalt slag.

Taylor (12-1-2, 1 KO) staggered Kroll (9-0-1, 6 Kos) in the sixth with the biggest punch of the fight, a left that caused Kroll to fall against the ropes as Taylor followed up with digging shots to the body.

“I thought I had it for sure,sa Taylor. “I thought I had the fight in the bag. I don’t know what the judges saw. I was being the aggressor and I landed the clearer shots. I thought I really had that fight with no questions. I don’t know what else I could’ve done.”

The busier and fresher fighter, Taylor didn’t sit in between rounds and at times had to be restrained by his trainer from running to the middle of the ring before his minute of rest was up.

Normally a patient and technically sound fighter, Kroll, a former amateur star who won the 2016 US. Olympiska boxnings Trials, went after Taylor in the first, throwing a wild right hand that continually missed its mark.

Kroll fought well in spurts and with urgency in the eighth and final round, but Taylor was ready for him.

“I thought I won the fight 5-3,” Kroll said. “I took the beginning and the end. He won a couple rounds in the middle. We can run it back on the next ShoBox. I am ready to fight him again. He was awkward, but I outworked him on the inside. I won that fight.”

"Jag vet egentligen ingenting om Garcia. Jag vet att han har två armar och två ben, och utöver det förväntar jag mig att han kommer med sitt A-spel, för han måste mot mig. Det finns inget sätt att jag låter honom komma in som en sen ersättare och slå mig.

"Jag tillbringade större delen av träningslägret med tränaren Aureliano Sosa och Herman Caicedo på Caicedo Sports nere i Miami, men med bytet av motståndare tog jag beslutet att komma tillbaka till mitt gym i Brooklyn eftersom vi har tre vänstermän i gymmet här uppe.

"Den enda verkliga skillnaden för det här lägret är att jag har en nutritionist, så de har fått mig på en strikt diet och jag är bara mer fokuserad än någonsin. Det andra med det här lägret är att jag ursprungligen skulle slåss i mitten av december, men sedan skjuts det tillbaka till nu. Så vi gick igenom två läger i princip. Det har handlat om ett 14-veckors läger totalt.

”Vi åkte ner till Miami främst på grund av vädret, och på grund av vår koppling till tränare Herman. Jag hatar kylan i norr. Och så har de också fått många kvalitetssparringspartners till mig nere i Miami och de gav mig ett bra jobb för att göra mig redo för den här kampen.

"Jag handlar om att göra justeringar. Jag har haft motståndarbyten tidigare, och jag vet att detta är en del av boxningens verksamhet. Jag måste bara rulla med slagen, gör lemonad av dessa citroner och gör det jag gör i februari 26.

"Jag slåss inte för bälten. Jag kämpar för pengarna och mitt arv. Jag har fortfarande ett jobb att göra nästa lördag. Jag får fortfarande betalt. Efter att jag vunnit, Jag får snart kämpa igen för bältet och få betalt igen för den kampen.”

LAS VEGAS (Februari 17, 2022) – Obesegrad dominikansk olympier Hector Garcia kommer att försöka ta sig ett steg närmare sina mästerskapsdrömmar när han möter obesegrade andra Chris “Primetime” Colbert i en 12-omgång WBA Super Featherweight World Title Eliminator headliner live på SHOWTIME lördag, Februari 26 i ett Premier Boxing Champions-evenemang från The Chelsea i The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

"Jag är väldigt tacksam till hela mitt team för att de gav mig den här möjligheten,sa García, som äger ett register över 14-0, med 10 knockouts. "Det är dags att visa världen att det fanns en dominikansk fighter gömd i skuggorna och han är redo att kasta sig ut på denna chans."

García klev in för att möta Colbert efter att WBA:s superfjäderviktsmästare Roger Gutiérrez drog sig ur på grund av ett positivt covid-19-test. Trots den plötsliga förändringen, 30-åringen är förberedd på vad den ytterst skickliga Colbert tillför ringen.

"Jag anser inte Chris Colbert som särskilt farlig,sa García. "Jag har sett honom slåss förut och jag vet att jag måste vara smidig, eftersom han är väldigt snabb. Jag har sparrat med många träningspartners som har stilar som liknar hans här i Las Vegas och det borde hjälpa mig att anpassa mig när vi väl är i kampen.”

Utbildad av den kända tränaren Ismael Salas i Las Vegas, García har sparrat med mästare och topputmanare inklusive Devin Haney och Rolando "Rolly" Romero. Han går in i denna kamp efter sin karriärs mest imponerande seger, ett enhälligt beslut triumf över Isaac Avelar i december. 2021.

García är ett ivrigt Boston Red Sox-fan som brukade spela baseboll och drömde om att slå hem på Fenway Park samtidigt som han beundrade dominikanska basebolllegender som Pedro Martínez, David Ortíz och Manny Ramírez. Hans familj ville att han skulle studera, men det var hans styvbror som vände honom till boxning när García var tonåring.

"Baseboll var min första kärlek, men min äldre styvbror Derlin Valdez brukade boxas och han skulle uppmuntra mig att göra detsamma,sa García. "Han sa hela tiden åt mig att gå till gymmet och, när jag var 14, Jag bestämde mig för att följa hans råd och ägna mig åt boxning. Jag ville inte riktigt först, men jag hade inte heller de resurser jag behövde för att bli en riktig professionell basebollprospekt."

García blev proffs i december 2016 efter en tvåa mål på 2015 Pan-Am Games i Toronto och kvalificeringen till 2016 OS i Rio de Janeiro.

"Jag väntade på (2016) OS innan han blev proffs,sa García. "Min dröm var att vinna en medalj, och jag kom inte till på grund av en orättvis förlust under de preliminära omgångarna."

Sex år senare, boxning är fortfarande en familjefråga i Garcías hushåll. Det är det som driver honom att lyckas.

– Mitt mål är att bli världsmästare, och jag är dedikerad till att visa min familj att jag verkligen kan bli framgångsrik som idrottare,sa García. "De ville att jag skulle studera, studera, plugga och plugga lite till, men jag visar dem att jag uppnådde mitt mål."

Undefeated Shishkin and Russ II Scheduled for Battle on Salita Promotions’ Next Detroit Brawl Event, Lördag, Mars 5, in Dearborn, MITT

WBC #10- and IBF #9-ranked super middleweight vladimir Shishkin (12-0, 7 Kos), as well as undefeated Detroit super welterweight Gordie Russ II (3-0, 3 Kos) have been added to the lineup in separate bouts for Salita Promotions’ next “Detroit Brawl" händelse, Lördag, Mars 5, 2022, i Lincoln Ballroom av Ford Community & Performing Arts Center i Dearborn, Michigan.

Waiting out the pandemic for an inevitable high-profile match-up against a champion or highly rated contender, former amateur star Shishkin, originally from Stepnoe, Ryssland, is now living and training at the Kronk Gym in Detroit with super trainer Javan “SugarHill” Steward. The talented Russian will look to stay sharp against Ecuadorian trialhorse Jeyson “Verdugo” Minda (14-6-1, 8 Kos), in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.

“I’m excited to add another adopted Detroiter to the card,” said event promoter, Dmitriy Salita. “Like the legendary Russian Five, who played a big role in bringing a Stanley Cup Championship to ‘America’s Greatest Comeback City’ Detroit. I believe Vladimir’s partnership with Sugarhill will soon result in another world title for the city of Detroit. And as a bonus for local boxing fans, they will get a chance to see another future world champion on this stacked Detroit Brawl card!"

Also training with Steward and added to the Detroit Brawl bill is his cousin, the aforementioned super welterweight Russ II, who will hope to keep his record perfect (currently 3-0, 3 Kos) against an opponent also TBA over four rounds.

TEMPLE STUDENT LIVING THE DREAM PURSUING A CAREER AS A PROFESSSIONAL BOXER

Temple student Daiyaan Butt (10-1, 5Kos) is living the dream.
As a first grader, he stood in front of his classmates on career day and declared he would become a boxer. When asked “why a boxer?” He responded he regularly watches Mike Tyson and Roberto Duran with his father which inspired his dream.


Butt will go toe-to-toe with Bryce Mills, av Liverpool, NY, (7-1, 4 KO: s) at Live! Kasino & Hotel in South Philadelphia on Thursday, Februari 24.

A boxer is not the only way that Butt wants to be remembered. He wants to be more than just a boxer. When asked about his hopes and dreams in boxing, Butt responded: “I don’t want to be labeled as just a boxer,” citing Muhammad Ali as an example. He wants to us his platform to make this world a better place.


As a junior at Temple University, Butt is studying Management Information Systems (MIS). He wants to be the leader of his own career inside the ring and outside the ring. He wants to use what he is learning at Temple University in their Fox School of Business and apply it to the business side of boxing.


With a great understanding with how money and finance works he will be able to make sure he understands his value and getting what he deserves. He enjoys learning new things, but enjoys it more when he can it apply it in everyday life.


Butt admits getting his hand raised is a great accomplishment in the ring, he also loves learning new skills in the gym and applying it the next sparring session or fight is just as gratifying.

What is the biggest life lesson you have learned in boxing?

“You can’t take anything for granted in life in general but boxing taught that because in boxing it only takes one punch and that translates to life, next thing you know you could be on top of the world and then a your nobody.”

Is there current or former fighters that you took pieces of their style from and implemented into your style?

“Yes and no, yea obviously I look at great fighters and different fighters and take what they do and see if it works for myself but at the end of the day you have to be your own fighter and different person. You do not want to be a factory car and be the same as everyone else, you want to be your own person a little different, a little spice and twist in it. Yea I watch fighter and I’ll take little things that they do but you have to put your own style and twist with it. My style is a pure boxer puncher.”

The live boxing event, which is produced in partnership between Joe Hand Promotions and Russel Peltz, will feature a six round heavyweight bout between Sonny Conto (8-0, 7 Kos) out of Philadelphia, PA going up against Mike Marshall (6-2-1, 4 Kos) fighting out of Danbury.


Super lightweights Christopher Burgos (3-4-1, 1 KO) of North Philadelphia, PA will battle Carlos Marrero (2-6-3) out of Bridgeport, CT in a six round bout.


Another bout on the card is a six round featherweight contest between Justice Bland (5-1, 2 KO: s) out of Brooklyn, NY going up against D’Angelo Fuentes (6-0, 4 Kos) fighting out of Coconut Creek, FL.


Also on the card is a four round lightweight bout featuring Jordon Murphy (1-0, 1 KO) out of Deerfield Beach, FL going against Nasir Mickens (2-0, 1 KO) out of Philadelphia.
