Shumenov stops Wright in 10th round of WBA cruiserweight world title fight

LAS VEGAS (Mai 21, 2016) – On a night Erislandy «Le rêve américain» Lara successfully defended his WBA Super Welterweight Championship with a hard-fought 12-round unanimous decision over Vanes “The Nightmare” Martirosyan, undefeated brothers Jermall et Jermell Charlo, de Houston, became the first twins in boxing history to hold world titles in the same weight class.

“When he started slowing down, I was able to catch him with a shot. I knew that if he could have continued he could have come back so I had to hit him.”

 

While both were selective with their punches, throwing just 427 combined shots through eight and a half rounds, Jermell was the more accurate fighter. The new WBC champ landed 23 pour cent de ses coups totaux, y compris 34 percent of his power shots against Jackson.

Lara, 33, was making his fourth title defense. “This is normal,” said Lara who landed 60 percent of the 160-plus power punches. “This is boxing, not baseball. Low blows and headbutts happen. I’m a very intelligent fighter and at no point did I feel this fight was going to be lost.

 

“My mother and kids are still there so it would be a great privilege to go fight in my native Cuba. Everything is possible in this world. I didn’t think I’d be champion of the world and here I am.

LAS VEGAS (Mai 19, 2016) – The World Boxing Association (WBA) has declared Saturday night’s fight between No. 1 classé aspirant Shumenov Beibu (16-2, 10 KOs) and No. 11-Évalué Junior “Ouragan” Wright (15-1-1, 12 KOs) will become the WBA “régulier” champion du monde cruiserweight. On what he saw in Lara’s eyes when they faced off…
“A fighter looking at another fighter. I see hunger in both eyes.
“A lot of the first fight, I was kind of inexperienced but we’ve matured a lot throughout the years. Four years into this game, a lot of experience, a lot of knowledge in the game so there’s a lot I learned from the first fight.
“The whole division is here, it’s awesome. They should do this more often and I’m happy that SHOWTIME put together such a great card.”

“Every fight on this card could have been the main event. To be on a card like this with all these great fighters is exciting.
“Boxing has a lot of really big fights with the Charlos coming in the future. We’re going to take it one step at a time. This is a great fight that we have in front of us.
“I’m very proud of my brother, to have accomplished what he has at 26-years-old, coming from where we came from.

“We’re getting more and more experience. People thought that Gabriel Rosado was too big of a test for me but I dominated that fight. I’m going to pass any test they put in front of me. Over the course of time, you’re eventually going to have to say we the experience.
“I’m proud of what my brother has done. His success motivates me. He’s a world champion. These are the kind of things we look forward to.
“This is our time. There is no more that we can say. There is a lot that’s coming ahead of us.

LAS VEGAS (Sept. 13, 2015) – Floyd “Argent” Mayweather effectué un dernier chef-d'œuvre Samedi survivre Showtime PPV® en ce qu'il insiste était la lutte finale de sa brillante carrière de 19 ans.

Berto a été satisfait de sa performance, mais a concédé qu'il était pas au niveau de Mayweather.

“Je consacre beaucoup pour ce combat, pour eux de prendre loin de moi est pas juste. Certainement, Je suis prêt pour un troisième combat.”
Dans un autre combat de championnat du monde, Badou Jack “The Ripper” (20-1-1, 12 KOs) a défendu avec succès son titre WBC des super-moyens du monde avec un âprement disputée, décision de la majorité de 12 rounds très couru sur challenger obligatoire “Saint” George Groves (21-3, 16 KOs). “Je veux continuer à être un champion du monde pour l'ensemble de Porto Rico. Je suis dans un état de pointe et je suis prêt à obtenir la victoire.
“Salido peut dire ce qu'il veut. Je le connais et je pouvais l'assommer dans le premier combat. Je suis persuadé que je peux aller le finir.

“Vous avez vu ce qui est arrivé la dernière fois nous nous sommes battus. Vous savez que cela va être un match spectaculaire. Je sais Rocky très bien et je sais qu'il est un combattant intelligent. La dernière fois que je suis sorti de mon plan de match. Ce combat, Je suis concentré et impatient d'un grand combat.
“Je suis un meilleur combattant que lui. Je sais que Martinez va courir, mais je suis en très bon état pour le chercher et obtenir la victoire.

“Groves est absolument pas dans ma tête. Je suis concentré et fort mentalement sur ma tâche à accomplir. Je gagné mon plus grand combat que je ai eu à jour, il n'a pas. Il a eu deux coups de feu sur le titre et les a perdu à la fois.
“Groves a obtenu célèbre pour se faire renverser par Carl Froch. Il est un bon combattant, mais je suis très à l'aise que je vais le battre.
“Je juste rester concentré sur ce que je dois faire. Personne ne se fait sous ma peau.
“Je me suis toujours croyais en moi. Les choses se passent dans la boxe. Je travaillais dur et voilà comment je suis arrivé à ce moment.
“Je me suis toujours l'opprimé, à mon avis. Je l'aime. Il me motive. Je vais prouver ma valeurSamedi nuit.”
George Groves
“C'est cool d'être ici. Je suis heureux d'avoir ma chance au titre. Nous sommes prêts. Je voyage à Las Vegas pour la boîte depuis que je suis de 13 ans. Année après année, je l'ai toujours été couronnée de succès ici, toujours avec KO.
“Boxeurs britanniques ont fait bien dans le ring comme de la fin, mais il n'y a pas de pression ou de motivation supplémentaire. Nous sommes très prêts. Nous savons ce que nous devons savoir sur Jack. Nous lui souhaitons bonne chance, parce qu'il va en avoir besoin.
“Il est un grand combat pour moi avec le titre sur la ligne. Je suis impliqué dans la concurrence accrue, mais je ne l'ai pas pris mon oeil hors de Badou Jack. Nous sommes impatients d'une belle victoire Samedi.
“Formation en Big Bear était super. La première semaine je me rendis compte de la différence dans la chaleur et l'altitude. Mais surtout, je aime être isolé. Ici il est la paix, Je suis purement dans le camp. Pas d'autres distractions.
“Je suis confiant de gagner. Je suis toujours confiant de remporter. La meilleure façon de décrire ce combat est que Badou Jack est un bon combattant, mais je suis un meilleur combattant. Je suis meilleur que lui à chaque phase du jeu.
Jhonny Gonzalez
“Ceci est mon deuxième combat au 130 livres et je me sens beaucoup plus confortable, fort, confiant et sûr que je l'ai fait au 126.
“Il est formidable d'être sur cette carte de combat. Cela va être un combat terrible. Je me suis entraîné dur et je suis prêt à aller Samedi. La réalité est, tel est le type de combat qui peut me faire un pas de plus vers un autre titre mondial.”
