LEAR AND RICHARD TO VIE FOR FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE AT NEF 37 IM BANGOR

Bangor, Maine (Dezember 6, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) will hold its next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 37: Sub Zero,” am Freitag, Februar 1, 2019 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Bereits heute Morgen, the promotion announced the addition of an amateur featherweight title fight to the card. Fred Lear (6-2) wird voraussichtlich zu treffen Zac Richard (3-0) for the vacant 145-pound championship.

Fred Lear will look to replicate the success he had the last time he fought in Bangor. In August 2017, Lear captured the amateur bantamweight strap with a second-round technical knockout of Walt Shea (3-1) at the Cross Insurance Center.

Lear has had a stellar amateur career fighting out of Young’s MMA in Bangor. Prior to competing in mixed-martial-arts, Lear wrestled for John Bapst High School also based in the Queen City. He has won his last three in a row in the MMA cage. Should Lear win the featherweight title, he will become the first competitor in NEF history to hold championships in multiple weight divisions.

“This title fight is an opportunity to develop and grow,” said Lear. “An undefeated opponent with nothing but finishes, I like it—it’s polarizing. I want to turn professional. This is how I get better, that’s all I’m focused on.”

Like Lear, Zac Richard brought a wrestling background with him to the MMA cage. He won a state championship in 2015 competing for Massabesic High School in Waterboro, Maine. Richard now trains with Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire under head coach, current UFC competitor, und ehemaliger NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (9-4).  Richard has finished all three of his previous opponents in the first round.

Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur lightweight fight to the card. Mohammad Al Kinani (4-1) soll gegen Jamie Sprague (0-0) bei einem Kampf Gewicht von 155 Pfund-.

 

 

 

Mohammad Al Kinani will look to rebound from the first loss of his amateur career against Ramano Medina (5-0) last summer in New Hampshire. I’m feeling extremely sharp and I know I can bring in all the heat to that cage. Sprague has been training for a long time under one of the best schools in the area and probably thinks I’m an easy win, but I have been training and putting in more work than ever with the best of the best to come back from a first recent loss. He will understand the pressure of being locked up in there with me. I’m ready to shock everyone November 17th.”

 

 

 

Despite his lack of cage competition experience, Jamie Sprague is no newcomer to the combat sports world. As Al Kinani indicated, Sprague has trained for some time in the martial arts. He holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is a member of Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire under current UFC competitor, and former NEF Pro Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (9-3).

 

 

 

“Mo’s a tough guy,” said Sprague, “no doubt about that. But with all due respect, I want to make a statement. I want his neck.”

Portland, Maine (September 13, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) wird seine letzte Mixed-Martial-Arts-Veranstaltung von abhalten 2018, “NEF 36: Kampf um das Gold,” am Samstag, November 17 bei Aura in Portland, Maine. Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional featherweight title fight to the card. Aaron “Unnachgiebig” Lacey (6-2) is scheduled to meet Bill Jones (13-10) for the vacant NEF Professional Featherweight Championship.

Lacey is coming off one of the biggest wins of his professional career to date. Last weekend at “NEF 35” before his hometown fans in Bangor, Maine, Lacey submitted Jon Lemke (7-9) just under two minutes into the first round. It was a rebound win for Lacey who lost a decision to a very tough Da’Mon Blackshear (5-2) earlier this summer in Portland. Bei “NEF 36,” Lacey will look to capture gold in the promotion for the second time – he won the NEF Amateur Featherweight Title at “NEF 20” im November 2015 in what would be his final amateur fight. Lacey is a member of Young’s MMA based in Bangor.

“I’m excited to be fighting for this strap,” rief Lacey. “I was NEF’s first amateur 145-pound champion and I look forward to being one of the first people to hold amateur and professional belts for New England Fights! I have a very formidable and experienced opponent, but this belt has been calling my name for a long time and I am going to take what I have worked for all along!"

Bill Jones is one of the pioneers of the New England MMA scene, having competed in the region since 2007. He holds wins over some of the top fighters ever to come out of the area such as UFC veteran Tateki Matsuda (13-9) and current UFC competitor Matt Bessette (22-9). Jones has competed at the national level for the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). Like Lacey, he also holds a first-round submission of Jon Lemke to his credit. Bei “NEF 33″ in Portland last spring, Jones was victorious over Matt Denning (5-8) via technical knockout in the second round. He is currently a member of Nostos MMA in Somersworth, New Hampshire.

“I’m at my most dangerous when I’m focused—and you best believe that I’ll be bringing a whole new level of commitment to my camp with the NEF Featherweight title on the line, a belt that I’ve had my eyes on for a long, schon lange,” stated Jones. “I have a lot left in the tank and I’m out to prove in this fight that I’m no journeyman—I’m hard work for anyone that wants some. I can’t wait to be back in the NEF cage and put on a show for everyone!"

NEF SELLS OUT BANGOR FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR WITH WILD MMA CARD

Bangor, Maine (September 9, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) held its latest mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 35: Wicked Season,” on Saturday night at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. It was the third time in as many years that the fight promotion visited the Queen City and sold out the venue.

The main event featured a bout hailed as the “Battle of Bangor” as popular locals Aaron “Unnachgiebig” Lacey (6-2) und Jon Lemke (7-9) squared off. Lacey submitted Lemke in the first round with a rear-naked choke.

Heimatstadt Favoriten “Die” Ryan Sanders (17-9) took on Mando “Big Chino” Montoya (10-7) in der Co-Main Event. Am 4:10 Zeichen der ersten Runde, Sanders, the reigning NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, forced Montoya to tap to a guillotine choke.

Portland, Maine (Juni 17, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) made its return to Portland, Maine on Saturday night with the fight promotion’s latest mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 34: Home of the Brave.” A jam-packed house of fight fans took in the action as NEF fighters delivered the non-stop excitement from bell to bell in what many are calling one of the best events the company has ever produced.

 

 

 

On a card featuring a total of 18 Kämpfe, die Richter’ scorecards were not needed until the thirteenth bout of the evening. Arnold claimed the title with a fourth-round knockout in a bout that will certainly be a contender for “Kampf des Jahres” this December when voting begins.

 

 

 

Not to be outdone, Carlton Charles (2-2) and Duncan “The Highlander” Schmied (3-2) took their amateur welterweight title fight into the fourth round as well. Smith took the gold home after putting Charles out with a rear-naked choke.

 

 

 

On the professional side of the card, Young’s MMA teammates “Die” Ryan Sanders (16-9) and Aaron “Unnachgiebig” Lacey (5-2) were in action. Sanders submitted Vince McGuiness (5-8) with just seconds remaining in the first round while Lacey lost a unanimous decision to Da’Mon Blackshear (5-1) im Main Event.

 

 

 

NEF announced that its next MMA event, “NEF 35: Wicked Season,” would originate from the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine on September 8, 2018. CRESPO OUT, MURPHY IN AGAINST ARNOLD IN NEF TITLE FIGHT

Portland, Maine (Mai 31, 2018) – Earlier this week, New England Fights (NEF) officials were informed that Mike Crespo had been injured during his fight camp and would be unable to compete at “NEF 34: Home of the Brave” auf Juni 16 in Portland. Crespo had originally been scheduled to face Kam Arnold (3-0) for the vacant NEF MMA Amateur Bantamweight Championship. Killian Murphy (1-0) has stepped up to replace Crespo and take on Arnold at Aura for the 135-pound title in a scheduled five-round affair.

Murphy made his debut at “NEF 33” last month in Portland with an impressive victory over Krishna Scott (0-1) über die erste Runde durch technischen Ko. He is no stranger to the winner’s circle. Murphy is a former Maine state wrestling champion, having captured a class-A title for Marshwood High School in Elliott in 2015. Perhaps no other member of the NEF roster has had the run in the last twelve months that Kam Arnold has had. He has cut through three opponents in the first round like a hot knife through butter including an eleven-second knockout of veteran David Thompson last month at “NEF 33.” Arnold is a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Lewiston, Maine.

NEF RELEASES FIGHT CARD FOR RETURN TO PORTLAND ON JUNE 16

Portland, Maine (Mai 18, 2018) –Earlier today, New England Fights (NEF) released the official card for its upcoming return to Aura in Portland, Maine. The mixed-martial-arts event, berechtigt “NEF 34: Home of the Brave,” is scheduled to take place on Saturday night, Juni 16, 2018 mit einer Glockenzeit von 7:00 Uhr EDT.

 

 

 

The main event will feature two rising East Coast prospects when Bangor, Maine’s own Aaron “Unnachgiebig” Lacey (5-1) meets Fayetteville, North Carolinas Da’Mon “The Diamond” Blackshear (4-1) in einem Federgewicht Kampf. Lacey is coming off a dominant win over veteran Josh Parker (6-9) früher in diesem Jahr, while Blackshear looks to rebound from the first loss of his professional career last August.

Rounding out the professional portion of the card will be yet another Young’s MMA competitor in the form of Carl Langston (0-1) who is scheduled to rematch The Choi Institute’s Ernesto Ornelas (3-7) in a battle of Portland fan-favorites. Langston and Ornelas initially met last month at “NEF 33” with Ornelas coming out on top via unanimous decision. Langston immediately requested a rematch blaming his performance on nerves surrounding his pro debut. Ornelas obliged and has promised to finish Langston this time out, leaving no room for question.

 

 

 

The amateur portion of the card will be headlined by a pair of title fights. Undefeated Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) Aussicht Kam Arnold (3-0) konfrontiert sein wird Michael Crespo (3-3) of First Class MMA for the vacant NEF MMA Amateur Bantamweight Championship. In the second title fight, Carlton Charles (2-1) of the Charles Fighting Family and Berserkers MMA meets Duncan “The Highlander” Schmied (2-2) of Evolution Athletix to crown a new NEF MMA Amateur Welterweight Champion. Both fights are scheduled for five three-minute rounds – a first in the NEF amateur division as all previous title fights had been scheduled for three three-minute rounds.

 

 

 

Three women’s bouts will take place on the amateur card. Brianne Genschel (0-1) of First Class MMA and the Foundry will take on Tampa, Florida Amanda Gallo (1-1) while Genschel’s First Class MMA teammate Chelsea Tucker (0-2) faces the debuting Ruhm Watson (0-0) von Young-MMA, und Carol Linn Powell (0-1) erfüllt Sarah Matulis (1-0) of the Outlet. Portland, Maine (Mai 1, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) returns to Aura in Portland, Maine mit seinem nächsten Mixed-Martial-Arts-Event, “NEF 34: Home of the Brave,” am Samstag Nacht, Juni 16, 2018. Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur bantamweight championship bout to the card. Kam Arnold (3-0) treffen Michael Crespo (3-3) for the vacant NEF amateur 135-pound title. The championship was previously held by Fred Lear (6-2) who vacated when he turned professional. The bout between Arnold and Crespo will make history as the first five-round amateur title fight in both NEF and Maine history. All previous amateur championship fights had been scheduled for three rounds.

Undefeated Kam Arnold has been on a hot streak since his debut in the summer of 2017. The product of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) in Lewiston, Maine has cut through all three of his previous opponents with little resistance. None have made it past the two-minute mark of the first round with Arnold. It took him a mere 11-seconds to knock out David Thompson with a single punch at “NEF 33” last month in Portland. Arnold considers the opportunity to fight for the bantamweight title the highlight of his fight career thus far.

“I’m ecstatic for the opportunity to bring Lewiston back a title,” said Arnold. “Everything I’ve gone through in my life has led me to this exact moment. Michael Crespo, “Knusprig” to his fans and teammates, is a six-fight veteran of the NEF cage. A perpetual contender for the bantamweight title over the years, Crespo’s biggest win came at “NEF 18” when he upset Caleb Costello (3-4) über einstimmigen Beschluss. Portland, Maine (April 30, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) returns to Aura in Portland, Maine mit seinem nächsten Mixed-Martial-Arts-Event, “NEF 34: Home of the Brave,” am Samstag Nacht, Juni 16, 2018. Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional bantamweight bout to the card. Ernesto Ornelas (3-7) hat zu Gesicht unterzeichnet Carl Langston (0-1) bei einem Kampf Gewicht von 135 Pfund-.

The bout will be a rematch of their fight in Portland earlier this month. Ornelas and Langston initially met at “NEF 33” April 14 at Aura. Ornelas, a member of Portland’s The Choi Institute, put on an impressive showing for the duration of three rounds on his way to a unanimous decision win on the judges’ Scorecards. The victory was Ornelas’ first in the NEF cage with four previous attempts since the promotion’s inception in February 2012. “Carl said his nerves got the better of him that night. He immediately asked NEF matchmakers for a rematch against Ornelas on the Juni 16 Portland card.

“I couldn’t be more excited about getting this rematch,” declared Langston. “I asked for this rematch the same night I lost to Ernie. I just wasn’t me that night. It was my first pro fight and my nerves got to me. I just didn’t feel like myself in there. That being said, I still took him to a decision being that he had nine pro fights and I was making my pro debut. He still doesn’t bring the skill set and talent that I bring to the cage. This was a big mistake for Ernie to accept this rematch. He got lucky the first time, and I promise I will finish him this time. I know what it feels like being in there with him now, and I will make him fold without a doubt in my mind. He’s a mouthpiece, and I’m going to silence him and his groupies.”
