CRESPO OUT, MURPHY IN AGAINST ARNOLD IN NEF TITLE FIGHT

Portland, Maine (Mai 31, 2018) – Earlier this week, New England Fights (NEF) officials were informed that Mike Crespo had been injured during his fight camp and would be unable to compete at “NEF 34: Home of the Brave” auf Juni 16 in Portland. Crespo had originally been scheduled to face Kam Arnold (3-0) for the vacant NEF MMA Amateur Bantamweight Championship. Killian Murphy (1-0) has stepped up to replace Crespo and take on Arnold at Aura for the 135-pound title in a scheduled five-round affair.

Murphy made his debut at “NEF 33” last month in Portland with an impressive victory over Krishna Scott (0-1) über die erste Runde durch technischen Ko. He is no stranger to the winner’s circle. Perhaps no other member of the NEF roster has had the run in the last twelve months that Kam Arnold has had. He has cut through three opponents in the first round like a hot knife through butter including an eleven-second knockout of veteran David Thompson last month at “NEF 33.” Arnold is a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Lewiston, Maine.

I’m going to continue to work hard, make an adjustment to the strategy and go balls-to-the-wall from there. This will be a great fight – and I will be NEF’s next 135-pound champ.”

“Nothing excites me more than when an athlete steps up on short notice and seizes an opportunity to grab glory – and that’s what Killian Murphy has done by agreeing to take this bout against an undefeated animal like Kam Arnold,” declared NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson. “Kam has looked unstoppable since he debuted less than a year ago – and now we get to see him test himself against a decorated wrestler for a chance at NEF gold. As if this card wasn’t already summer fireworks – now we get to see two undefeated studs try to knock each other off over the course of a five-round championship fight. Portland, Maine (Mai 3, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) returns to Aura in Portland, Maine mit seinem nächsten Mixed-Martial-Arts-Event, “NEF 34: Home of the Brave,” am Samstag Nacht, Juni 16, 2018. Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur bantamweight bout to the card. Killian Murphy (1-0) treffen Gabriel Diaz (0-1) bei einem Kampfgewicht von 135 Pfund.

Murphy made his cage debut last month at “NEF 33” in Portland with a first-round technical knockout of Krishna Scott (0-1). He followed the footsteps of his older brother Connor Murphy (1-2) into the NEF amateur ranks. Killian trains with Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire under the tutelage of UFC signee, and former NEF Pro Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (8-3). Prior to joining Nostos, Murphy was a standout on the wrestling mats for Marshwood High School in Elliot, Maine where he won a Class A state championship in 2015.

“I’m really excited for my second fight,” said Murphy. “I’ve got an amazing coach and team behind me. As for the finish, I won’t predict anything. I’ll let all my work in the cage speak for itself.”

Gabriel Diaz is a member of F2 Arena in Gainesville, Florida. Juni 16, he will not only be looking to avenge his own loss at “NEF 33” to Murphy’s Nostos teammate Zac Richards (1-0), but Diaz will also have the opportunity to avenge his own F2 Arena teammate, Krishna Scott, who was defeated by Murphy at “NEF 33.”

Carol Linn Powell (0-0) soll übernehmen Francesca Morabito (0-0) in a women’s bantamweight contest.

Carol Linn is the wife of former NEF Lightweight Champion, und aktueller UFC-Kämpfer, Devin Powell (8-3). “I am very excited for my wife to make her debut,” noted Devin. “She’s been around the sport for almost half a decade, but is just recently getting into hard training and the competitive aspect of it. I never told her to fight or said I thought she should. She was very independent in this choice and when somebody chooses to do something on their own and they commit all of themselves to it, I think that is a great equation for a successful person in anything they do. She is going to find out a lot about herself on the 3rd. Happy to have a cage-side seat for it.”

Francesca Morabito trains at the Choi Institute in Portland, Maine. Her true passion lies in her work with non-profit organization Speak About It. Morabito has toured the world as a theatre artist with the Portland-based group, educating high school and college students on affirmative consent, healthy relationships, and sexual assault prevention.

“It is such an honor to make my debut just a couple blocks from where I’ve been training for the past two years,” said Morabito. “I’m elated to fight in my hometown – on the same street where I’ve trudged home on countless Maine winter nights, with my gym bag slung over my shoulder and my wet hair freezing solid underneath my Choi hoodie. My time has come. And I came to win.”

STACKED FIGHT CARD OPENS THE YEAR FOR NEF IN LEWISTON

Lewiston, Maine (Januar 11, 2017) -Neu England Fights (NEF) kehrt zum Androscoggin Bank Colisee zurück Februar 11, 2017 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 27: RESURGENCE.” Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the full card for the event. The night will feature both amateur and professional MMA bouts.

 

Headlining the evening will be the semi-finals of the tournament to crown a new professional lightweight champion. The title was vacated when previous champion Devin Powell (8-1) signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Ryan Sanders (12-8) dauert an John Ortolani (8-10) während Jon Lemke (5-7) Gesichter Jesse Erickson (9-5) in a rematch from Bellator 93. The winners of those two bouts will meet in the finals tentatively scheduled for “NEF 28” später in diesem Jahr.

 

In a highly-anticipated heavyweight bout, Ras Hylton (0-0) machen sein Profidebüt gegen Mike Hansen (5-4). The 6’6″ Hylton, oder “Rasquatch” as he is known amongst his fans, was voted the “2016 Rookie des Jahres” by NEF fans after going 3-0 als Amateur. Bangor, Maine (Juli 29, 2016) – Devin Powell genoss einen freien Abend von seinem anspruchsvollen Leben als Mixed Martial Arts Instruktor und Kämpfer.

Er war von Essen umgeben, das wahrscheinlich nicht auf seinem normalen Trainingsmenü steht. Passend zur lauten Musik und Partystimmung im Xfinity Center gab es feierliche Getränke, die Open-Air-Konzerthalle in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Irgendwie, Powell hörte sein Telefon klingeln, oder fühlte es in seiner Tasche vibrieren. Das bevorstehende Gespräch veränderte seine Pläne für den nächsten Tag erheblich.

Powell nahm eine Rückverlobung mit Jon Lemke bei „NEF Presents Dana White“ an: Auf der Suche nach einem Kampf,” gehalten werden Freitag, August 5 im Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

„Ich habe herausgefunden, dass mein guter Freund Jesse Erickson verletzt wurde,“, sagte Powell, „und sie baten mich auszufüllen. Ich sagte ‚natürlich‘. Jeder, der UFC vertritt, egal Dana White, wenn du jemals die Chance hast, vor ihnen zu kämpfen, es ist etwas, was du tun willst, wenn du in der Lage bist. Es soll schön werden, intime Umgebung.“

Powell (7-1) ist der NEF-Leichtgewichts-Champion, nachdem er den Riemen mit einem technischen Knockout von Erickson bei "NEF" gesichert hatte 22: Alle Wege führen hierher“ im April. Lemke (5-5) verlor gegen den vorherigen Champion Bruce Boyington im Kampf um diesen Gürtel.

Keiner der Männer ist dafür bekannt, das Rampenlicht zu scheuen. Lemke stoppte Erickson bei Bellator 93 in Lewiston vor zwei Jahren. Powell steigerte seine Siegesserie mit einem Split-Decision-Triumph auf fünf Juni 17 über Tommy Marcellino auf der World Series of Fighting-Bühne in Foxwoods.

„Ich weiß, dass sie wahrscheinlich hier sind, um die Jungs im Main Event zu sehen,“, sagte Powell über White und sein Gefolge, „aber ich habe vor, eine Show zu machen, auf der sie nicht schlafen können. Mit meinem Kampfstil, sehr aggressiv und unorthodox, Ich glaube, ich werde definitiv ihre Aufmerksamkeit bekommen. Lemke verlor gegen Josh LaBerge auf Juni 10.

„Ich hatte nur ein paar zusätzliche Wochen Zeit, um mich vorzubereiten. ich habe noch trainiert, aber das ist alles. Ich war in ziemlich guter Verfassung, aber nicht in Kampfform,“, sagte Lemke. „Es ist eines dieser Dinge, bei denen sie dich fragen und du bist wie, 'Oh, einer, Ich möchte das unbedingt machen, aber.’ Es ist einfach eine zu große Gelegenheit, es nicht zu tun. Es ist nicht unbedingt ideal, aber als Kämpfer, Du suchst unbedingt diese Herausforderung, und Devin ist einer der besten Jungs im Spiel hier.“

Das hat er aus erster Hand gelernt, und in klangvoller Manier, als die beiden Kämpfer zuvor im Mai aufeinandergeprallt waren 10, 2014. Powell setzte sich nur per Choke-out durch 23 Sekunden.

Diese Kulisse war Lemkes Comeback-Kampf nach seinem abrupten Rückzug aus einem Titelmatch gegen John Ortolani acht Monate zuvor.

„Letztes Mal lief es nicht so gut. Es gab viele Ablenkungen und verschiedene Umstände für mich, die zu diesem Kampf führten. Ich musste vorher aus einem Titelkampf aussteigen, was du nie machen willst. Drei Viertel des Kampfes bestand für mich nur darin, wieder in den Käfig zu kommen,“, sagte Lemke.

„Ich bin jetzt ein ganz anderer Kämpfer," er fügte hinzu. „Ich glaube, ich habe überall Fortschritte gemacht, nicht nur mit meinen Fähigkeiten, sondern auch mit meiner Herangehensweise. Ich hatte einige Kämpfe und habe sowohl aus den Siegen als auch aus den Niederlagen gelernt. Du lernst immer. Manchmal lernt man auf die harte Tour.“

Lemke und Powell betreten jeweils zum vierten Mal in weniger als einem Jahr den Käfig. Diese Aktivität ist der Grund, warum sich keiner der Männer unwohl fühlt, eine so strenge Herausforderung nach einem verkürzten Trainingslager anzunehmen.

In Powells Fall, Kämpfen ist einfach eine natürliche Erweiterung seines Alltags als Besitzer und Head Instructor bei Nostos MMA in Somersworth, N.H.

„Ich bin dankbar für alles, was ich habe. Ich habe eine 4-jährige Tochter und sie kommt gerne in die Akademie und trainiert Jiu-Jitsu,“, sagte Powell. “I have a pretty amazing life. I only have to teach, train and fight. A lot of people don’t get more than a couple hours with their kids every night. We sacrifice a lot for this sport. People only see the 15 minutes of hell. They don’t see everything else.”

Powell is pleased to represent NEF for only the third time in his blossoming career.

“NEF is one of the biggest promotions in the country. They make superstars out of guys from Maine,“, sagte Powell. “I fought for World Series of Fighting, and I don’t want to sound like I’m knocking them, but it was a much smaller show. NEF has a huge following, and now you see them going places like Cape Cod and Bangor, and that can only grow it even more. They do it right, and I’m glad to be able to step in there for them.”

Lemke faces the added pressure of fighting in front of not only White but his hometown fans from the Bangor area.

Many of them are not accustomed to the four-hour round trip for his encounters in Lewiston.

“A fight is still just a fight, and the next fight is the biggest fight regardless. You never know who could be there watching or what could happen as a result,“, sagte Lemke, suggesting that he is more concerned with his opponent. “Devin is a phenomenal fighter. He has a great skill set. He’s highly touted and he has a great record to back it up. It’s definitely the challenge of a lifetime for me. He’s also a great guy outside the cage. I get along with him well. I think we respect each other.”

Powell confirmed those suspicions, although he reiterated that his objective is nothing less than another decisive victory.

“He’s a good guy. I don’t have to go to that deep, dark place. I understand that my job is to hurt someone so badly that the referee has to step in to save his life. It’s a beautiful, violent sport. I respect anyone who has the courage to get in there with the same goals as me,“, sagte Powell. “I’m expecting a brouhaha with Lemke. Er ist aggressiv. He comes to fight. ERICKSON OUT, POWELL IN TO FACE LEMKE IN FRONT OF UFC PRESIDENT

Bangor, Maine (Juli 18, 2016) – When Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White comes to Bangor onAugust 5, 2016 to check out the local talent New England Fights (NEF) has to offer, Jesse “The Viking” Erickson (7-5) will unfortunately have to watch from the sidelines. Erickson suffered an injury while training for his bout with Jon Lemke (5-5) previously-scheduled to take place that evening. White will be present to record a future episode of his web series Dana White: Lookin’ for a Fight in which professional mixed-martial-artists have a shot at earning a UFC contract based on their performance.

 

Within mere hours of being informed of Erickson’s injury, NEF executives had found a replacement in the form of the promotion’s reigning professional lightweight champion Devin Powell (7-1). The bout will be a non-title contest scheduled for three-rounds at a catchweight of 160-pounds. It is a rematch of a May 2014 NEF fight which Powell won via first-round submission. Should Lemke win the rematch, he will be in line for a title shot in the rubber match.

 

“Noch einmal, I am incredibly thankful and grateful to NEF for making this fight happen,” sagte Lemke. “Getting an opponent change last minute is usually pretty stressful. Not this time, jedoch, as the crew at NEF was on top of it, and the next day I had a new opponent. I am very much looking forward to getting another crack at Devin, as I had a horrible showing in our first fight. Lewiston, Maine (April 23, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerikas Nummer eins regionalen Kampf Förderung, held its most recent event, “NEF 22: ALLE WEGE FÜHREN HIER,” Saturday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. Mehr als 3,000 fight fans were on hand for the event, making it one of the largest crowds ever to witness an NEF event.

 

On the boxing portion of the card, Brandon “The Cannon” Berry (11-1-1) fought to a majority draw in a six-round contest with James Lester (10-9-1). Many of Berry’s supporters in attendance felt that he won the fight, but two of the judges had it even on the scorecards.

 

The headliner of the amateur MMA card saw Caleb Halle (7-3) captured the vacant amateur featherweight title with a second-round submission of Erik Nelson (2-3). On the professional side of the MMA card, Devin Powell (6-1) took home the lightweight championship by defeating Jesse Erickson (6-5) in the first round via technical knockout.
