LAS VEGAS (April 16, 2016) – Former IBO World welterweight champion Chris “The Heat” Van Heerden put himself back into title contention position, winning a 10-round majority decision over Steve “The Dragon” Claggett in this evening’s main event, under the neon lights at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center(DLVEC) outdoor venue.

Van Heerden (23-1-1, 12 Kos), fighting out of Santa Monica, California by way of South Africa, used his 3-inch height advantage against Claggett (23-3-1, 16 Kos), the Canadian champion from Calgary, Alberta.
Neither fighter was hurt during the fight, in which there were continual back-and-forth exchanges of stinging combinations. Claggett battled to apply pressure in order to fight on the inside, while Van Heerden fought effectively from the outside.
The two evenly-matched welterweights patiently waited for the official announcement: 95-95 och 97-93 twice for Van Heerden.
“I knew I won this fight, 120-procent, but I knew it was close,” Van Heerden commented. “We’re both winners i kväll because of it was so close and we entertained the crowd. Me and Claggett entertained the crowd…..we delivered. I’ve been through so much and the lord helped me get this win. I look forward to a rematch, but I want to move forward.”

Macias thoroughly dominated the action, firing non-stop shots from every conceivable angle. His unrelenting pressure enabled Macias, whose come-forward approach made him an instant fan favorite, to control the fight from start to finish for a unanimous decision.
“I knew he was going to be the toughest fighter I’ve fought,” Macias said. “I give Ponce much respect. We wanted to give fans a good show.”
Baltimore welterweight Malik “Iceman” Hawkins (7-0, 6 Kos) gav Errol “Spyda” Sidney (6-2-2, 2 Kos) a beating, fully displaying his arsenal of punches, hurting his gutsy opponent on several occasions. Hawkins’ aggressive style early in the fight broke-down Sidney, who was nearly finished at the end of the fourth and fifth rounds. Hawkins trapped Sidney a neutral corner at the start of the sixth round and a powerful uppercut sent Sidney down to a knee. Sidney beat referee Jay Nady‘s count but the veteran official had seen enough and he halted the bout 1:02 into the sixth.
“We’re back,” Hawkins proclaimed after the bout. I’d give myself an 8 ½ this fight.”
Las Vegas’ promising prospect Randy Moreno (2-0, 1 KO) outclassed Oregon junior lightweight Derek Barthemay (0-3) from the opening bell for a 4-round unanimous decision.
Flashy Las Vegas welterweight prospect Jeremy “J-Flash” Nichols (3-0, 2 Kos) constantly pounded the body of his tough Mexican opponent, Jason “Gibbor” Gavino (3-2, 2 Kos), for a 4-round shutout victory,
Las Vegas’ Sal Lopez (2-0) dropped a game Matt “KO Kid” Murphy (0-2), a junior lightweight from St. Louis, in the opening round on his way to an impressive one-sided win by way of a unanimous 4-round decision.

“BATTLE BORN BOXING: THE UPRISING” – Fredag, April 15, 2016
The inaugural event, “Battle Born Boxing: Uprising”, kommer att äga rum denna fredag natt (April. 15), outdoors at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.

I’m expecting a hard fight, nothing easy, and it will be entertaining.”
The 28-year-old Van Heerden moved to Santa Monica two years ago after he wiped out the top South African fighters in his weight class. De nya CBHOF värnpliktiga inkluderar också tidigare boxning commissioneren Peter Timothy och, postumt, boxare Carey Mace och George Russo, boxning författare Död Sharnik och boxning förespråkare Arnie Bayer.

Baserat i New York City, DiBella (bilden till vänster) är den tidigare chefen för boxning för HBO, skapa den mycket framgångsrika “Boxning After Dark” serie. Hans PR företag, DiBella Entertainment, har främjat otaliga boxningsevenemang på Mohegan Sun Arena och Foxwoods Resort Casino under de senaste två decennierna. DiBella ägde också Connecticut Defenders minor league baseballlag som var baserat i Norwich. Hans toppkämpar har inkluderat Sergio Martinez,Bernard Hopkins, Paulie Malignaggi, Jermain Taylor, CBHOF INKALLAD “Irländsk” Micky Ward, och Andre Berto Bland de mer framstående. En Harvard Law School examen, DiBella är också en framgångsrik filmproducent.
Finkel (bilden till höger med sena Emanuel Steward), också från New York City, är en internationell Boxing Hall of Fame som var en fixtur på Connecticut kämpar för många år som antingen en promotor eller chef. Han är också en framgångsrik chef inom musikbranschen. I början av 1990-talet, Finkel var utan tvekan den mest kraftfulla chefen för boxning. Hans mest berömda kunder inkluderade Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Manny Pacquiao, Pernell Whitaker, Meldrick Taylor och Wladimir Klitschko.
Timothy (bilden till vänster med Sugar Ray Leonard) var boxning kommissionären av Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nationella kommissionen at Foxwoods från 1995 till 2009. Han leddes av sent John Burns, som var grundaren av CBHOF som han också är en induktör. Under sin tjänstgöring på Foxwoods, Timothy reglerade hundratals pro händelser, Inklusive 90 titel kamp. Höjdpunkter från hans regeringstid inkluderade CBHOF-induktör John Ruiz–Evander Holyfield III för WBA världen tungvikt och, kanske, den största kampen i Foxwoods historia, IBF världen Cruiser titel kamp mellan James Toney och Vassily Jirov. Andra stjärnor som kämpade på Foxwoods när Timothy var ansvarig inkluderar Roy Jones, Jr., Diego Corrales, Shane Mosely och Acelino Freitas, tillsammans med CBHOF värnpliktiga Dana Rosenblatt, Peter Manfredo, Jr. och US. Olympian Lawrence Clay-Bey.
Mace (72-18-2), född i Hartford, började slåss professionellt i slutet av 1940-talet. Hans mest anmärkningsvärda seger kom in 1950, stoppa förre världsmästaren Joe Giardello. Mace var medlem i CBHOF-chartermedlem Willie Pepär stabil och rankades vid ett tillfälle så hög som Nej. 8 välvikt i världen. Mace, vars sista skjutningen var en förlust för CBHOF medlemGaspar Ortega i 1962, bodde i Manchester när han gick bort i en ålder av 73 i 2003.
Russo hade 85 pro slagsmål mellan 1922 och 1934. Han flyttade till Bridgeport när han var sex och blev så småningom en lokal legend i boxning, drifts gym som Red Man Hall, Acorn Club och East Washington Avenue. I 1992, han förde boxning tillbaka efter en tio år lång frånvaro till den gamla PAL byggnad i Bridgeport. Russo erkändes också som “Johnny Duke of Southern Connecticut.”
Född i New Haven, den sena Sharnick levde nästan hela sitt liv i Norwalk, innan han återvände till Florida, där han valdes till Florida Boxing Hall of Fame 2012, till stor del för grundandet av Smart Boxer Institute. Sharnik var en bokförfattare för 23 år på Sports Illustrated, stryks av hans täckning av Cassiuslera–Sonny Liston Jag, citerade vilt för att säga, “Liston har nävar såsom kanonkulor.” Han fortsatte med att bli chef för konsult på CBS i nio år och var chefrådgivare och ensam troende i George Foreman'S comeback-bud som så småningom leder till en annan världens tungviktstitel. Sharnick var också rådgivare för CBHOF-medlem och två gånger världsmästare Marlon Starling, tala framtida världsmästare för att lägga till Eddie Futch som huvudtränare. Futch's assistent, CBHOF medlem Freddie Roach, skulle så småningom utbilda Starling när han blev världs weltervikt mästare.
Bayer var allmänt respekterad som en sann förespråkare för boxning, alltid snabba att ge en hjälpande hand, samt att öppna plånboken för att stödja boxning gym i städer som CBHOF invald Johnny hertigens Boys Club gym i Bellevue Square, Hartford.

"Kid Pacquiao’ Utbildning i Cebu City, Väntar på US. Arbetstillstånd

Undefeated lättvikts Jonel “Kid Pacquiao” Dapidran (6-0, 3 Kos) kommer att fortsätta att träna i Cebu City, Filippinerna, i väntan på ett arbetsvisum till USA.
Arrangören Sampson Lewkowicz flyttar hela lägret från Las Vegas till Cebu City för att arbeta med 17-åriga slugger, inklusive topp tränare juni Agrabio.
“Agrabio går där för att hjälpa den här killen komma till nästa nivå,” nämnda Lewkowicz.
Lewkowicz säger att Dapidran kommer att ha en eller två matcher i Filippinerna i väntan på rätt visum.
“Jag vill behålla honom aktiv så att när han gör sin amerikanska debut han kommer att vara redo att sätta på en stor show,” förklarade Lewkowicz.

Promotor Sampson Lewkowicz, mannen krediteras med att upptäcka en okänd talang namngav Manny Pacquiao i Filippinerna i 2000, stolt meddelar undertecknandet av Pacquiao s syssling, Jonel “The Kid Pacquiao” Dapidran till ett långsiktigt PR kontrakt.
17-åriga Dapidran (6-0, 3 Kos) är en obesegrad lätta utsikter från Digos City i Filippinerna. Manny Pacquiao morfar och Junel far är bröder.
“En San Francisco advokat som heter Sydney Hall tog Manny Pacquiao till min kännedom 15 år sedan,” nämnda Lewkowicz. “Ingen av de stora promotorer uppmärksamhet, men vi såg vad en talang han var. Jag jobbade som en matchmaker för (därefter promotor) Murad Muhammad, och jag övertalade honom att underteckna Manny och föra honom till Amerika. Nu, som en promotor, Jag vill föra hans nära familj här för första gången och jag är övertygad om den här unge mannen kommer att göra en stor uppgift i vår sport.”
Dapidran är i goda händer. Så snart hans visum är klar, han kommer att leva i Las Vegas, dela en vacker lägenhet med tidigare mästare flera världen och andra filippinska, Jonriel Casimero. Han kommer också att dela en tränare med Casimero och ansluta sig till stabila av tränare juni Agrabio.

Generates Combined Total Revenues In Excess of $500 Million
 

NEW YORK (Maj 12, 2015) -The boxing blockbuster event, Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, shattered the previous record for total pay-per-view buys and now ranks as the highest-grossing pay-per-view of all time. Initial reports from distributors indicate that the event generated more than 4.4 miljoner US. buys and more than $400 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue alone. With additional revenue from the live gate at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, international television distribution, sponsorships, closed circuit and merchandise sales, the event is expected to generate in excess of $500 million in gross worldwide receipts. The news was announced jointly by Showtime Networks Inc., a subsidiary of CBS Corporation, and HBO in conjunction with event promoters Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank, Inc.

 

The welterweight world championship unification bout nearly doubled the previous record of 2.48 million buys generated by the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing event in 2007 and nearly tripled the record $150 million in U.S. pay-per-view revenue generated by Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez in 2013.

 

Live gate receipts for the star-studded event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena produced more than $71 million in revenue, dramatically eclipsing the previous live gate record of $20 milj (for Mayweather vs. Canelo) for both the sport of boxing and Las Vegas.

 

Dessutom, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao set the record for closed circuit admissions and revenue both in Las Vegas and at establishments nationwide. The event sold nearly 46,000 closed circuit admissions at MGM Resorts International properties in Las Vegas alone and was available at more than 5,000 bars, restaurants and commercial establishments throughout the U.S.

 

Distributed in 175 countries worldwide, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was available in essentially 75 percent of the world’s territories, setting the revenue record for international distribution.

 

As reported last week, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao drew enormous numbers on social media. Till exempel, Facebook reported that 37 million unique people contributed more than 115 million interactions from the start of the event to 30 minutes following its completion, a new record for a boxing event.

 

The May 2 promotion included unprecedented marketing and cross-promotional support from distributors as well as record revenue from the event’s major sponsors.
