“I have seen Jordan Shimmell in the ring and I feel like this is a good fight for me,” ütles Gassiev. “I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring after the mistake I made last fight. I’m going to be real sharp on May 17 and I will not disappoint.”

“This is a big opportunity for me in a competitive televised bout,” said Nofire. “This is a chance for me to move past being a regional fighter. I’m preparing not just to win but to look spectacular. A fast-rising 22-year-old contender, Gassiev is undefeated since turning pro in 2011 and has delivered three straight stoppage victories since making his stateside debut in January 2015. Hiljuti, he earned a no contest in a December fight with fellow unbeaten Isiah Thomas after Thomas was ruled unable to continue due to a blow from Gassiev deemed after the bell. “It means a lot to me to headline at home here in Washington. I can fight in front a lot of my family and friends.”
Barnett knows that with a couple wins, a big opportunity can arise in the 140-pound division.

After winning the title he had three more quality wins over Keylang Umana (19-2), Ariel Nestal (24-2-4) and former world title challenger Ever Beleno (38-8) to set up a shot at undefeated WBO Super Featherweight champion Acelino Freitas.
Attah showed his toughness by going the distance with the Brazilian knockout artist, but fell short by losing a 12-round unanimous decision.
The loss to Freitas did not dissuade Attah as in his next bout he defeated Toncho Tonchev (27-1). Attah also has wins over Isidro Granados (14-1-2) & Marvin Quintero (20-2).

In a battle of undefeated rising cruiserweight contenders, Detroit Isiah Thomas (15-0, 6 Kos) earned a hard-fought victory over Jordan Shimmell (19-1, 16 Kos) in their 10-round bout.

 

The southpaw Thomas used his slick-style to slow down Shimmell’s offense and land lead rights to the head that left Shimmell’s right eye cut. Thomas was able to fend Shimmell off on the inside as the broader Shimmell attempted to land big punches from close quarters. Thomas won by the scores of 99-91, 98-92 ja 97-93.

 

In further action, Dominican power-puncher Claudio Marrero (19-1, 14 Kos) delivered a vicious second round knockout over former world champion Rico Ramos (24-5, 12 Kos). “I’m ready to get back in the ring, I’m fine. It was difficult to catch up with him because he wanted to move around so much.

 

“I learned in those last few rounds that even though he was moving around so much, I could pick up the tempo and bring the fight to him.
